1Potom odšel Ježíš za moře Galilejské, jenž jest Tiberiadské.2A šel za ním zástup veliký; nebo viděli divy jeho, kteréž činil nad nemocnými.3I všel na horu Ježíš, a tam seděl s učedlníky svými.4Byla pak blízko velikanoc, svátek Židovský.5Tedy pozdvih očí Ježíš a viděv, že zástup veliký jde k němu, dí k Filipovi: Kde nakoupíme chlebů, aby pojedli tito?6(Ale to řekl pokoušeje ho; nebo on sám věděl, co by měl učiniti.)7Odpověděl jemu Filip: Za dvě stě peněz chlebů nepostačí jim, aby jeden každý z nich něco maličko vzal.8Dí jemu jeden z učedlníků jeho, Ondřej, bratr Šimona Petra:9Jestiť mládenček jeden zde, kterýž má pět chlebů ječných a dvě rybičky. Ale coť jest to mezi tak mnohé?10I řekl Ježíš: Rozkažtež lidu, ať se usadí. A bylo trávy mnoho na tom místě. I posadilo se mužů v počtu okolo pěti tisíců.11Tedy Ježíš vzal ty chleby, a díky učiniv, rozdával učedlníkům, učedlníci pak sedícím; též podobně z těch rybiček, jakž jsou mnoho chtěli.12A když byli nasyceni, řekl učedlníkům svým: Sbeřte ty drobty, kteříž zůstali, ať nezhynou.13I sebrali a naplnili dvanácte košů drobtů z pěti chlebů ječných, kteříž pozůstali po těch, jenž jedli.14Ti pak lidé, uzřevše ten div, kterýž učinil Ježíš, pravili: Tento jest jistě prorok, kterýž měl přijíti na svět.15Tedy Ježíš věda, že by měli přijíti a chytiti jej, aby ho učinili králem, ušel na horu opět sám jediný.16Když pak byl večer, sstoupili učedlníci jeho k moři.17A vstoupivše na lodí, plavili se přes moře do Kafarnaum. A bylo již tma, a nepřišel byl Ježíš k nim.18Moře pak dutím velikého větru zdvihalo se.19A odplavivše se honů jako pětmecítma nebo třidceti, uzřeli Ježíše, an chodí po moři a přibližuje se k lodí. I báli se.20On pak řekl jim: Jáť jsem, nebojte se.21I vzali ho na lodí ochotně, a hned přiběhla k zemi, do kteréž se plavili.22Nazejtří pak zástup, kterýž byl za mořem, viděv, že jiné lodičky nebylo, než ta jedna, na kterouž byli vstoupili učedlníci jeho, a že Ježíš nebyl všel s učedlníky svými na lodí, ale sami učedlníci jeho byli se plavili,23(Jiné pak lodí byly připlouly od Tiberiady k tomu místu blízko, kdežto byli jedli chléb, když díky učinil Pán,)24Když tedy uzřel zástup, že Ježíše tu není, ani učedlníků jeho, vstoupili i oni na lodí, a přijeli do Kafarnaum, hledajíce Ježíše.25A nalezše ho za mořem, řekli jemu: Mistře, kdy jsi sem přišel?26Odpověděl jim Ježíš a řekl: Amen, amen pravím vám: Hledáte mne, ne protože jste divy viděli, ale že jste jedli chleby a nasyceni jste.27Pracujte ne o pokrm, kterýž hyne, ale o ten pokrm, kterýž zůstává k životu věčnému, kterýž Syn člověka dá vám. Nebo tohoť jest potvrdil Bůh Otec.28Tedy řekli jemu: Co budeme činiti, abychom dělali dílo Boží?29Odpověděl Ježíš a řekl jim: Totoť jest to dílo Boží, abyste věřili v toho, kteréhož on poslal.30I řekli jemu: Jakéž pak ty znamení činíš, abychom viděli a věřili tobě? Co děláš?31Otcové naši jedli mannu na poušti, jakož psáno jest: Chléb s nebe dal jim jísti.32Tedy řekl Ježíš: Amen, amen pravím vám: Ne Mojžíš dal vám chléb s nebe, ale Otec můj vám dává ten chléb s nebe pravý.33Nebo chléb Boží ten jest, kterýž sstupuje s nebe a dává život světu.34A oni řekli jemu: Pane, dávejž nám chléb ten vždycky.35I řekl jim Ježíš: Jáť jsem ten chléb života. Kdož přichází ke mně, nebude nikoli lačněti, a kdož věří ve mne, nebude žízniti nikdy.36Ale pověděl jsem vám, anobrž viděli jste mne, a nevěříte.37Všecko, což mi dává Otec, ke mně přijde, a toho, kdož ke mně přijde, nevyvrhu ven.38Nebo jsem sstoupil s nebe, ne abych činil vůli svou, ale vůli toho, jenž mne poslal.39Tatoť jest pak vůle toho, kterýž mne poslal, Otcova, abych všecko, což mi dal, neztratil toho, ale vzkřísil to v nejposlednější den.40A tatoť jest vůle toho, kterýž mne poslal, aby každý, kdož vidí Syna a věří v něho, měl život věčný. A jáť jej vzkřísím v den nejposlednější.41I reptali Židé na něho, že řekl: Já jsem chléb, kterýž jsem s nebe sstoupil.42A pravili: Zdaliž tento není Ježíš, syn Jozefův, jehož my otce i matku známe? Kterak pak dí tento: S nebe jsem sstoupil?43Tedy odpověděl Ježíš a řekl jim: Nerepcete vespolek.44Však žádný nemůž přijíti ke mně, jediné leč Otec můj, kterýž mne poslal, přitrhl by jej; a jáť jej vzkřísím v den nejposlednější.45Psáno jest v Prorocích: A budou všickni učeni od Boha. Protož každý, kdož slyšel od Otce a naučil se, jdeť ke mně.46Ne že by kdo viděl Otce, jediné ten, kterýž jest od Boha, tenť jest viděl Otce.47Amen, amen pravím vám: Kdož věří ve mne, máť život věčný.48Jáť jsem ten chléb života.49Otcové vaši jedli mannu na poušti, a zemřeli.50Totoť jest chléb ten s nebe sstupující. Kdožť by koli jej jedl, neumřeť.51Jáť jsem ten chléb živý, jenž jsem s nebe sstoupil. Bude-li kdo jísti ten chléb, živ bude na věky. A chléb, kterýž já dám, tělo mé jest, kteréž já dám za život světa.52Tedy hádali se Židé vespolek, řkouce: Kterak tento může dáti nám tělo své jísti?53I řekl jim Ježíš: Amen, amen pravím vám: Nebudete-li jísti těla Syna člověka a píti krve jeho, nemáte života v sobě.54Kdož jí mé tělo a pije mou krev, máť život věčný, a jáť jej vzkřísím v nejposlednější den.55Nebo tělo mé právě jest pokrm, a krev má právě jest nápoj.56Kdo jí mé tělo a pije mou krev, ve mně přebývá a já v něm.57Jakož mne poslal ten živý Otec, a já živ jsem skrze Otce, tak kdož jí mne, i on živ bude skrze mne.58Totoť jest ten chléb, kterýž s nebe sstoupil. Ne jako otcové vaši jedli mannu, a zemřeli. Kdož jí chléb tento, živť bude na věky.59Toto mluvil Ježíš v škole, uče v Kafarnaum.60Tedy mnozí z učedlníků jeho, slyševše to, řekli: Tvrdáť jest toto řeč. Kdo ji může slyšeti?61Ale věda Ježíš sám v sobě, že by proto reptali učedlníci jeho, řekl jim: To vás uráží?62Co pak, kdybyste uzřeli Syna člověka, an vstupuje, kdež prve byl?63Duch jest, jenž obživuje, těloť nic neprospívá. Slova, kteráž já mluvím vám, Duch a život jsou.64Ale jsouť někteří z vás, ješto nevěří. Nebo věděl Ježíš od počátku, kdo by byli nevěřící, a kdo by ho měl zraditi.65I pravil: Protož jsem vám řekl, že žádný nemůže přijíti ke mně, leč by dáno bylo od Otce mého.66A z toho mnozí z učedlníků jeho odešli zpět, a nechodili s ním více.67Tedy řekl Ježíš ke dvanácti: Zdali i vy chcete odjíti?68I odpověděl jemu Šimon Petr: Pane, k komu půjdeme? A ty slova věčného života máš.69A my jsme uvěřili, a poznali, že jsi ty Kristus, Syn Boha živého.70Odpověděl jim Ježíš: Však jsem já vás dvanácte vyvolil, a jeden z vás ďábel jest.71A to řekl o Jidášovi synu Šimona Iškariotského; nebo ten jej měl zraditi, byv jeden ze dvanácti.
1 Potom odešel Ježíš na druhý břeh Tiberiadského jezera v Galileji.2 Šel za ním velký zástup, poněvadž viděli znamení, která činil na nemocných.3 Ježíš vystoupil na horu a tam se posadil se svými učedníky.4 Byly blízko židovské svátky velikonoční.5 Když se Ježíš rozhlédl a viděl, že k němu přichází četný zástup, řekl Filipovi: „Kde nakoupíme chleba, aby se všichni najedli?“6 To však řekl, aby ho zkoušel; sám totiž věděl, co chce učinit.7 Filip mu odpověděl: „Ani za dvě stě denárů chleba nepostačí, aby se na každého aspoň něco dostalo.“8 Řekne mu jeden z jeho učedníků, Ondřej, bratr Šimona Petra:9 „Je tu jeden chlapec, který má pět ječných chlebů a dvě ryby; ale co je to pro tolik lidí!“10 Ježíš řekl: „Ať se všichni posadí!“ Na tom místě bylo mnoho trávy. Posadili se tedy, mužů bylo asi pět tisíc.11 Pak vzal Ježíš chleby, vzdal díky a rozdílel sedícím; stejně i ryby, kolik kdo chtěl.12 Když se nasytili, řekl svým učedníkům: „Seberte zbylé nalámané chleby, aby nic nepřišlo nazmar!“13 Sebrali je tedy a naplnili dvanáct košů nalámanými díly, které z těch pěti ječných chlebů po jídle zbyly.14 Když lidé viděli znamení, které Ježíš učinil, říkali: „Opravdu je to ten Prorok, který má přijít na svět!“15 Když Ježíš poznal, že chtějí přijít a zmocnit se ho, aby ho provolali králem, odešel opět na horu, zcela sám.
— Ježíš kráčí po moři
16 Když nastal večer, sestoupili jeho učedníci k moři,17 vstoupili na loď a jeli na druhý břeh do Kafarnaum. Už se setmělo, a Ježíš s nimi stále ještě nebyl.18 Moře se vzdouvalo mocným náporem větru.19 Když veslovali asi pětadvacet nebo třicet stadií, spatřili Ježíše, jak kráčí po moři a blíží se k lodi; zmocnil se jich strach.20 On však jim řekl: „Já jsem to, nebojte se!“21 Chtěli jej vzít na loď, a hned se loď ocitla u břehu, k němuž jeli.
— O chlebu života
22 Zástup zůstal na protějším břehu moře. Druhého dne si uvědomili, že tam byl jen jeden člun a že Ježíš na něj nevstoupil společně se svými učedníky, ale že učedníci odjeli sami.23 Jiné čluny z Tiberiady však přistály nedaleko místa, kde jedli chléb, nad nímž Pán vzdal díky.24 Když tedy zástup shledal, že Ježíš ani jeho učedníci tam nejsou, vstoupili na ty čluny a jeli ho do Kafarnaum hledat.25 Když jej na druhém břehu moře nalezli, řekli mu: „Mistře, kdy ses sem dostal?“26 Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Amen, amen, pravím vám, hledáte mě ne proto, že jste viděli znamení, ale proto, že jste jedli chléb a nasytili jste se.27 Neusilujte o pomíjející pokrm, ale o pokrm zůstávající pro život věčný; ten vám dá Syn člověka, jemuž jeho Otec, Bůh, vtiskl svou pečeť.“28 Řekli mu: „Jak máme jednat, abychom konali skutky Boží?“29 Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Toto je skutek, který žádá Bůh: abyste věřili v toho, koho on poslal.“30 Řekli mu: „Jaké znamení učiníš, abychom je viděli a uvěřili ti? Co dokážeš?31 Naši otcové jedli na poušti manu, jak je psáno: ‚Dal jim jíst chléb z nebe.‘“32 Ježíš jim řekl: „Amen, amen, pravím vám, chléb z nebe vám nedal Mojžíš; pravý chléb z nebe vám dává můj Otec.33 Neboť Boží chléb je ten, který sestupuje z nebe a dává život světu.“ 34 Řekli mu: „Pane, dávej nám ten chléb stále!“35 Ježíš jim řekl: „Já jsem chléb života; kdo přichází ke mně, nikdy nebude hladovět, a kdo věří ve mne, nebude nikdy žíznit.36 Ale řekl jsem vám: Viděli jste mě, a přece nevěříte.37 Všichni, které mi Otec dává, přijdou ke mně; a kdo ke mně přijde, toho nevyženu ven,38 neboť jsem sestoupil z nebe, ne abych činil vůli svou, ale abych činil vůli toho, který mě poslal;39 a jeho vůle jest, abych neztratil nikoho z těch, které mi dal, ale vzkřísil je v poslední den.40 Neboť to je vůle mého Otce, aby každý, kdo vidí Syna a věří v něho, měl život věčný; a já jej vzkřísím v poslední den.“ 41 Židé proti němu reptali, že řekl: ‚Já jsem chléb, který sestoupil z nebe.‘42 A říkali: „Což tohle není Ježíš, syn Josefův? Vždyť známe jeho otce i matku! Jak tedy může říkat: ‚Sestoupil jsem z nebe‘!“43 Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Nereptejte mezi sebou!44 Nikdo nemůže přijít ke mně, jestliže ho nepřitáhne Otec, který mě poslal; a já ho vzkřísím v poslední den.45 Je psáno v prorocích: ‚Všichni budou vyučeni od Boha.‘ Každý, kdo slyšel Otce a vyučil se u něho, přichází ke mně.46 Ne že by někdo Otce viděl; jen ten, kdo je od Boha, viděl Otce.47 Amen, amen, pravím vám, kdo věří, má život věčný.48 Já jsem chléb života.49 Vaši otcové jedli na poušti manu, a zemřeli.50 Toto je chléb, který sestupuje z nebe: kdo z něho jí, nezemře.51 Já jsem ten chléb živý, který sestoupil z nebe; kdo jí z tohoto chleba, živ bude navěky. A chléb, který já dám, je mé tělo, dané za život světa.“ 52 Židé se mezi sebou přeli: „Jak nám ten člověk může dát k jídlu své tělo?“53 Ježíš jim řekl: „Amen, amen, pravím vám, nebudete-li jíst tělo Syna člověka a pít jeho krev, nebudete mít v sobě život.54 Kdo jí mé tělo a pije mou krev, má život věčný a já ho vzkřísím v poslední den.55 Neboť mé tělo je pravý pokrm a má krev pravý nápoj.56 Kdo jí mé tělo a pije mou krev, zůstává ve mně a já v něm.57 Jako mne poslal živý Otec a já mám život z Otce, tak i ten, kdo mne jí, bude mít život ze mne.58 To je ten chléb, který sestoupil z nebe – ne jako jedli vaši otcové, a zemřeli. Kdo jí tento chléb, živ bude navěky.“59 To řekl, když učil v synagóze v Kafarnaum.
— Petrovo vyznání
60 Když to jeho učedníci slyšeli, mnozí z nich řekli: „To je hrozná řeč! Kdo to může poslouchat?“61 Ježíš poznal, že učedníci na to reptají, a řekl jim: „Nad tím se urážíte?62 Co až uvidíte Syna člověka vystupovat tam, kde byl dříve?63 Co dává život, je Duch, tělo samo nic neznamená. Slova, která jsem k vám mluvil, jsou Duch a jsou život.64 Ale někteří z vás nevěří.“ Ježíš totiž od počátku věděl, kteří nevěří a kdo je ten, který ho zradí. –65 A řekl: „Proto jsem vám pravil, že nikdo ke mně nemůže přijít, není-li mu to dáno od Otce.“ 66 Od té chvíle ho mnoho jeho učedníků opustilo a už s ním nechodili.67 Ježíš řekl Dvanácti: „I vy chcete odejít?“68 Šimon Petr mu odpověděl: „Pane, ke komu bychom šli? Ty máš slova věčného života.69 A my jsme uvěřili a poznali, že ty jsi ten Svatý Boží.“70 Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Nevyvolil jsem si vás dvanáct? A přece jeden z vás je ďábel.“71 Mínil Jidáše, syna Šimona Iškariotského. Ten ho totiž měl zradit, jeden z Dvanácti.
1Ježíš potom odešel za Galilejské (neboli Tiberiadské) jezero2a šel za ním veliký zástup, protože viděli, jaká zázračná znamení konal na nemocných.3Ježíš vystoupil na horu a posadil se tam se svými učedníky.4Blížily se židovské svátky Velikonoc.5Ježíš pozvedl oči, a když uviděl, že za ním jde takový zástup, zeptal se Filipa: „Kde nakoupíme chleby, aby se ti lidé najedli?“6(To ovšem řekl, aby ho vyzkoušel, neboť sám věděl, co má udělat.)7Filip mu odpověděl: „Nestačilo by nám chleba ani za dvě stě denárů,[1] aby se na každého dostalo aspoň trochu!“8Jeden z jeho učedníků, Ondřej, bratr Šimona Petra, mu řekl:9„Je tu jeden chlapec, který má pět ječných chlebů a dvě rybky. Ale co je to pro tolik lidí?“10Ježíš však řekl: „Zařiďte, ať se lidé posadí.“ Na tom místě bylo hodně trávy, a tak se posadili v počtu asi pěti tisíc mužů.11Ježíš vzal ty chleby, vzdal díky a rozdával sedícím; také ryb rozdal, kolik jen chtěli.12Když se nasytili, řekl svým učedníkům: „Posbírejte zbylé nalámané kousky, ať se nic neztratí.“13Sebrali je tedy a naplnili dvanáct košů kousky z těch pěti ječných chlebů, které zbyly po těch, kdo jedli.
To jsem já!
14Když lidé viděli, jaké zázračné znamení vykonal, říkali: „Je to opravdu ten Prorok, který měl přijít na svět!“[2]15Ježíš poznal, že se chystají přijít a vzít ho, aby ho udělali králem, a tak se o samotě vrátil na horu.16Večer jeho učedníci sešli dolů k jezeru,17nastoupili na loď a plavili se na druhý břeh do Kafarnaum. Ačkoli se už setmělo, Ježíš k nim nepřišel.18Jezero se začalo vzdouvat silným větrem.19Když odpluli asi pětadvacet nebo třicet honů,[3] spatřili Ježíše, jak kráčí po hladině a blíží se k lodi. Vyděsili se,20ale on jim řekl: „To jsem já, nebojte se!“21Tehdy ho ochotně vzali na loď, a ta se hned ocitla u břehu, k němuž pluli.
Chléb života
22Druhého dne si zástup, který zůstal na protějším břehu jezera, uvědomil, že tam byla jen jediná loďka a že Ježíš na ni nenastoupil se svými učedníky, ale ti odpluli sami.23(Od Tiberiady ovšem připluly jiné loďky blízko k tomu místu, kde jedli chléb, když Pán vzdal díky.)24Když tedy zástup uviděl, že tam Ježíš ani jeho učedníci nejsou, nastoupili i oni do loděk a přijeli do Kafarnaum, kde hledali Ježíše.25Když ho pak našli na druhém břehu jezera, ptali se ho: „Rabbi, kdy ses sem dostal?“26Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Amen, amen, říkám vám: Nehledáte mě proto, že jste viděli znamení, ale že jste jedli ty chleby a byli jste nasyceni.27Neusilujte o pomíjející pokrm, ale o pokrm, který zůstává k věčnému životu, který vám dá Syn člověka. Na něj totiž Bůh Otec vtiskl svou pečeť.“28„Co máme dělat, abychom konali Boží skutky?“ zeptali se ho.29Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Toto je ten Boží skutek – abyste věřili v toho, kterého on poslal.“30„Jaké znamení vykonáš, abychom ho viděli a uvěřili ti?“ zeptali se ho. „Co děláš?31Naši otcové jedli na poušti manu, jak je psáno: ‚Dal jim jíst chléb z nebe.‘“[4]32Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Amen, amen, říkám vám: Ten chléb z nebe vám nedal Mojžíš. Můj Otec vám dává ten pravý chléb z nebe.33Boží chléb je ten, který sestupuje z nebe a dává život světu.“34„Pane, dávej nám ten chléb vždycky,“ řekli mu.35Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Já jsem chléb života. Kdo přichází ke mně, nebude nikdy hladovět; kdo věří ve mě, nebude nikdy žíznit.36Ale jak jsem vám řekl: I když jste mě viděli, nevěříte.37Všichni, které mi Otec dává, přijdou ke mně; a toho, kdo ke mně přichází, jistě nevyženu ven.38Sestoupil jsem z nebe, ne abych konal svou vůli, ale vůli Toho, který mě poslal.39A toto je vůle Toho, který mě poslal – abych nikoho z těch, které mi dal, neztratil, ale vzkřísil je v poslední den.40Neboť toto je vůle mého Otce, který mě poslal – aby každý, kdo vidí Syna a věří v něho, měl věčný život. A já ho vzkřísím v poslední den.“41Židé pak na něj reptali, že řekl: „Já jsem ten chléb, který sestoupil z nebe.“42Říkali: „Není to snad ten Ježíš, syn Josefův? Jeho otce i matku známe; jak tedy může říkat: ‚Sestoupil jsem z nebe‘?“43„Přestaňte spolu reptat!“ odpověděl jim Ježíš.44„Nikdo ke mně nemůže přijít, pokud ho nepřitáhne můj Otec, který mě poslal; já ho pak vzkřísím v poslední den.45V Prorocích je psáno: ‚A budou všichni vyučeni od Boha.‘[5] Každý, kdo slyší Otce a učí se od něj, přichází ke mně.46Ne že by někdo viděl Otce; jediný, kdo viděl Otce, je ten, který je od Boha.47Amen, amen, říkám vám: Kdo věří, má věčný život.48Já jsem chléb života.49Vaši otcové jedli na poušti manu, a zemřeli.50Toto je ten chléb sestupující z nebe, aby ten, kdo z něj jí, nezemřel.51Já jsem ten živý chléb, který sestoupil z nebe. Kdokoli by ten chléb jedl, bude žít navěky. Chléb, který dám já, je mé tělo, které dám za život světa.“52Židé se mezi sebou začali hádat: „Jak nám tenhle může dát jíst své tělo?“53Ježíš jim ale řekl: „Amen, amen, říkám vám: Nebudete-li jíst tělo Syna člověka a pít jeho krev, nemáte v sobě život.54Kdo jí mé tělo a pije mou krev, má věčný život a já ho vzkřísím v poslední den.55Mé tělo je opravdu pokrm a má krev je opravdu nápoj.56Kdo jí mé tělo a pije mou krev, zůstává ve mně a já v něm.57Jako mě poslal živý Otec a já žiji skrze Otce, tak ten, kdo jí mne, bude žít skrze mě.58Toto je ten chléb, který sestoupil z nebe. Ne jako když otcové jedli manu, a zemřeli. Kdo jí tento chléb, bude žít navěky.“59Toto vše řekl, když učil v synagoze v Kafarnaum.
Těžká slova
60Mnozí z jeho učedníků, kteří to slyšeli, si tehdy řekli: „To jsou těžká slova. Kdo to může poslouchat?“61Ježíš v nitru poznal, že jeho učedníci kvůli tomu reptají, a tak jim řekl: „Tohle vás uráží?62A co kdybyste viděli Syna člověka vystupovat tam, kde byl dříve?63Duch je ten, kdo dává život; tělo nedokáže nic. 1Danach ging Jesus an das andere Ufer des Sees von Galiläa, der auch See von Tiberias heißt. (Mt 14,13; Mt 15,32; Mk 6,32; Mk 8,1; L 9,10)2Eine große Menschenmenge folgte ihm, weil sie die Zeichen sahen, die er an den Kranken tat.3Jesus stieg auf den Berg und setzte sich dort mit seinen Jüngern nieder.4Das Pascha, das Fest der Juden, war nahe. (J 2,13; J 11,55)5Als Jesus aufblickte und sah, dass so viele Menschen zu ihm kamen, fragte er Philippus: Wo sollen wir Brot kaufen, damit diese Leute zu essen haben?6Das sagte er aber nur, um ihn auf die Probe zu stellen; denn er selbst wusste, was er tun wollte.7Philippus antwortete ihm: Brot für zweihundert Denare reicht nicht aus, wenn jeder von ihnen auch nur ein kleines Stück bekommen soll.8Einer seiner Jünger, Andreas, der Bruder des Simon Petrus, sagte zu ihm:9Hier ist ein kleiner Junge, der hat fünf Gerstenbrote und zwei Fische; doch was ist das für so viele? (2Kr 4,42)10Jesus sagte: Lasst die Leute sich setzen! Es gab dort nämlich viel Gras. Da setzten sie sich; es waren etwa fünftausend Männer.11Dann nahm Jesus die Brote, sprach das Dankgebet und teilte an die Leute aus, so viel sie wollten; ebenso machte er es mit den Fischen.12Als die Menge satt geworden war, sagte er zu seinen Jüngern: Sammelt die übrig gebliebenen Brocken, damit nichts ver dirbt!13Sie sammelten und füllten zwölf Körbe mit den Brocken, die von den fünf Gerstenbroten nach dem Essen übrig waren. (2Kr 4,44)14Als die Menschen das Zeichen sahen, das er getan hatte, sagten sie: Das ist wirklich der Prophet, der in die Welt kommen soll.[1] (Dt 18,15)15Da erkannte Jesus, dass sie kommen würden, um ihn in ihre Gewalt zu bringen und zum König zu machen. Daher zog er sich wieder auf den Berg zurück, er allein.16Als es aber Abend geworden war, gingen seine Jünger zum See hinab, (Mt 14,22; Mk 6,45)17bestiegen ein Boot und fuhren über den See, auf Kafarnaum zu. Es war schon dunkel geworden und Jesus war noch nicht zu ihnen gekommen.18Da wurde der See durch einen heftigen Sturm aufgewühlt.19Als sie etwa fünfundzwanzig oder dreißig Stadien gefahren waren, sahen sie, wie Jesus über den See kam und sich dem Boot näherte; und sie fürchteten sich.20Er aber rief ihnen zu: Ich bin es; fürchtet euch nicht!21Sie wollten ihn zu sich in das Boot nehmen, aber schon war das Boot am Ufer, das sie erreichen wollten.
Die Rede über das Himmelsbrot in der Synagoge von Kafarnaum
22Am nächsten Tag stand die Menge am anderen Ufer des Sees; sie hatten gesehen, dass nur ein Boot dort gewesen war und dass Jesus nicht mit seinen Jüngern ins Boot gestiegen war, sondern dass seine Jünger allein abgefahren waren.23Von Tiberias her kamen andere Boote in die Nähe des Ortes, wo sie nach dem Dankgebet des Herrn das Brot gegessen hatten.24Als die Leute sahen, dass weder Jesus noch seine Jünger dort waren, stiegen sie in die Boote, fuhren nach Kafarnaum und suchten Jesus.25Als sie ihn am anderen Ufer des Sees fanden, fragten sie ihn: Rabbi, wann bist du hierhergekommen?26Jesus antwortete ihnen: Amen, amen, ich sage euch: Ihr sucht mich nicht, weil ihr Zeichen gesehen habt, sondern weil ihr von den Broten gegessen habt und satt geworden seid.27Müht euch nicht ab für die Speise, die verdirbt, sondern für die Speise, die für das ewige Leben bleibt und die der Menschensohn euch geben wird! Denn ihn hat Gott, der Vater, mit seinem Siegel beglaubigt. (J 6,51)28Da fragten sie ihn: Was müssen wir tun, um die Werke Gottes zu vollbringen?29Jesus antwortete ihnen: Das ist das Werk Gottes, dass ihr an den glaubt, den er gesandt hat.30Sie sagten zu ihm: Welches Zeichen tust du denn, damit wir es sehen und dir glauben? Was für ein Werk tust du? (Mt 16,1; Mk 8,11; L 11,16)31Unsere Väter haben das Manna in der Wüste gegessen, wie es in der Schrift heißt: Brot vom Himmel gab er ihnen zu essen. Wer aber dieses Brot isst, wird leben in Ewigkeit.59Diese Worte sprach Jesus, als er in der Synagoge von Kafarnaum lehrte.
Die Spaltung unter den Jüngern
60Viele seiner Jünger, die ihm zuhörten, sagten: Diese Rede ist hart. Wer kann sie hören?61Jesus erkannte, dass seine Jünger darüber murrten, und fragte sie: Daran nehmt ihr Anstoß?62Was werdet ihr sagen, wenn ihr den Menschensohn aufsteigen seht, dorthin, wo er vorher war?63Der Geist ist es, der lebendig macht; das Fleisch nützt nichts. Die Worte, die ich zu euch gesprochen habe, sind Geist und sind Leben.64Aber es gibt unter euch einige, die nicht glauben. Jesus wusste nämlich von Anfang an, welche es waren, die nicht glaubten, und wer ihn ausliefern würde. (J 5,38; J 10,26)65Und er sagte: Deshalb habe ich zu euch gesagt: Niemand kann zu mir kommen, wenn es ihm nicht vom Vater gegeben ist.66Daraufhin zogen sich viele seiner Jünger zurück und gingen nicht mehr mit ihm umher.67Da fragte Jesus die Zwölf: Wollt auch ihr weggehen?68Simon Petrus antwortete ihm: Herr, zu wem sollen wir gehen? Du hast Worte des ewigen Lebens. (Mt 16,16; Mk 8,29; L 9,20; Sk 5,20)69Wir sind zum Glauben gekommen und haben erkannt: Du bist der Heilige Gottes.70Jesus erwiderte: Habe ich nicht euch, die Zwölf, erwählt? Jesus Walks on Water
16When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,17got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.18The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing.19When they had rowed about three or four miles,[2] they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened.20But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” (L 24,38)21Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.
I Am the Bread of Life
22On the next day the crowd that remained on the other side of the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone. (J 21,8)23Other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. (J 6,11)24So when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. The Words of Eternal Life
60When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” (J 6,64; J 6,66)61But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.18And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.19So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.20But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.21Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.22The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;23(Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)24When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.25And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?26Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.27Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.30They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?31Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.32Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.33For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.34Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.36But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.37All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.38For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.39And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.41The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.42And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?43Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.44No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.45It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.46Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.47Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.48I am that bread of life.49Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.50This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.51I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.52The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.54Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.55For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.56He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.57As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.58This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.59These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.60Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?61When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?62What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.64But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.65And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.66From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.67Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?68Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.69And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.70Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?71He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
