Der Segen für Gehorsam

1 „Wenn du genau auf die Stimme Jahwes, deines Gottes, hörst und alle seine Gebote, die ich dir heute gebe, sorgfältig beachtest, dann wird Jahwe, dein Gott, dich hoch über alle Völker der Erde erheben. 2 All diese Segnungen werden über dich kommen und dich erreichen, wenn du auf die Stimme Jahwes, deines Gottes, hörst: 3 Gesegnet wirst du sein in der Stadt und gesegnet auf dem Feld. 4 Gesegnet wird sein die Frucht deines Leibes, die Frucht deines Ackerlands, die Frucht deines Viehs, die Zucht deiner Rinder und der Nachwuchs deines Kleinviehs. 5 Gesegnet werden sein dein Korb und dein Backtrog. 6 Gesegnet wirst du sein, wenn du heimkommst und wenn du wieder losgehst. 7 Jahwe wird die Feinde, die sich gegen dich erheben, vor dir niederstoßen. Auf einem Weg werden sie gegen dich anrücken, und auf sieben Wegen werden sie vor dir fliehen. 8 Auf Jahwes Befehl wird der Segen in deine Scheunen kommen und in alle Geschäfte, die du anpackst. So wirst du in dem Land, das Jahwe, dein Gott, dir gibt, lauter Segen haben. 9 Jahwe wird dich zu einem heiligen Volk für sich erheben, wie er es dir geschworen hat, wenn du seine Gebote hältst und auf seinen Wegen gehst. 10 Alle Völker der Erde werden sehen, dass du nach seinem Namen genannt bist, und sich vor dir fürchten. 11 Jahwe wird dir Gutes im Überfluss geben, Frucht deines Leibes, Frucht deines Viehs, Frucht deines Ackerlandes in dem Land, das Jahwe deinen Vorfahren geschworen hat, dir zu geben. 12 Jahwe wird dir sein Schatzhaus, den Himmel, öffnen, um deinem Land zur rechten Zeit Regen zu geben und alle Arbeit deiner Hände zu segnen. Du wirst vielen Völkern leihen können, selbst aber nicht leihen müssen. 13 Jahwe wird dich zum Kopf machen und nicht zum Schwanz, du wirst immer die Oberhand haben und nicht unterliegen, solange du den Geboten Jahwes, deines Gottes, gehorchst, die ich dir heute zu beachten gebe, 14 und solange du von den Worten, die ich euch heute gebiete, weder rechts noch links abweichst, um anderen Göttern nachzulaufen und ihnen zu dienen.“

Der Fluch für Ungehorsam

15 „Wenn du aber nicht auf die Stimme Jahwes, deines Gottes, hörst und seine Gebote und Vorschriften, die ich dir heute verkünde, nicht befolgst, dann werden all diese Flüche über dich kommen und dich treffen: 16 Verflucht wirst du sein in der Stadt und verflucht auf dem Feld. 17 Verflucht wird sein dein Korb und dein Backtrog. 18 Verflucht wird sein die Frucht deines Leibes, die Frucht deines Ackerlands, die Zucht deiner Rinder und der Nachwuchs deines Kleinviehs. 19 Verflucht wirst du sein, wenn du heimkommst und wenn du wieder losgehst. 20 Jahwe wird dir Fluch, Bestürzung und Verwünschung schicken in allen Geschäften, die du anpackst, bis du vernichtet bist, bis du schnell zugrunde gehst wegen der Bosheit deiner Taten, die zeigen, dass du mich verlassen hast. 21 Jahwe wird dir die Pest anhängen, bis er dich wieder aus dem Land entfernt hat, das du jetzt in Besitz nehmen willst. 22 Jahwe wird dich mit Schwindsucht, Fieberglut und Hitze schlagen, mit Entzündung, Dürre, Getreidebrand^[1] und Vergilben des Korns. Das alles wird dich verfolgen, bis du zugrunde gehst. 23 Der Himmel über dir wird wie aus Bronze sein und die Erde unter dir wie Eisen. 24 Statt Regen wird Jahwe Staub und Sand vom Himmel kommen lassen, bis du umgekommen bist. 25 Jahwe wird deinen Feinden erlauben, dich zu schlagen. Auf einem Weg wirst du gegen sie ausrücken und auf sieben Wegen vor ihnen fliehen. Zum Entsetzen wirst du sein für alle Reiche der Welt. 26 Dein Leichnam wird den Vögeln und den wilden Tieren zum Fraß, und niemand wird sie verscheuchen. 27 Mit den Geschwüren Ägyptens wird Jahwe dich schlagen, mit Beulen, Krätze und Grind, von denen du nicht geheilt werden kannst. 28 Mit Wahnsinn und mit Blindheit wird Jahwe dich schlagen und mit Verwirrung. 29 Am hellen Mittag tappst du wie ein Blinder umher. Deine Wege führen nicht zum Erfolg. Dein Leben lang wirst du unterdrückt und ausgebeutet sein und niemand wird dir helfen. 30 Du verlobst dich mit einer Frau, doch ein anderer Mann wird mit ihr schlafen. Du baust ein Haus, wirst aber nicht darin wohnen. Du pflanzt einen Weinberg, wirst ihn aber nicht nutzen. 31 Dein Rind wird vor deinen Augen geschlachtet, aber du wirst nichts davon essen. Dein Esel wird vor deiner Nase geraubt, und du siehst ihn nie wieder. Dein Kleinvieh wird deinen Feinden gegeben, und du hast niemand, der dir hilft. 32 Deine Söhne und Töchter werden einem anderen Volk ausgeliefert und du musst zusehen. Du wirst dich täglich nach ihnen sehnen, aber völlig machtlos sein. 33 Die Früchte deines Ackerlands und aller deiner Arbeit werden Leute genießen, die du nicht kennst. Du wirst immerzu nur unterdrückt und misshandelt werden. 34 Du wirst wahnsinnig werden vom Anblick dessen, was du siehst. 35 An Knien und Schenkeln wird Jahwe dich schlagen mit bösen Geschwüren, die niemand heilen kann. Von der Sohle bis zum Scheitel wirst du krank. 36 Jahwe wird dich und deinen König, den du über dich setzen wirst, zu einem Volk führen, das du und deine Vorfahren nicht gekannt haben. Dort wirst du anderen Göttern dienen, Göttern aus Holz und aus Stein. 37 Du wirst zum Entsetzen werden, zum Sprichwort und zum Gespött bei allen Völkern, zu denen Jahwe dich treibt. 38 Viel Saatgut bringst du aufs Feld, sammelst aber wenig ein, denn die Heuschrecke wird es fressen. 39 Du wirst Weinberge anlegen und pflegen, aber den Wein weder trinken noch lagern, denn der Wurm frisst alles kahl. 40 Ölbäume wachsen überall in deinem Land, aber du wirst dich nicht mit Öl salben, denn die Oliven fallen ab. 41 Söhne und Töchter wirst du zeugen, aber sie bleiben dir nicht, denn sie gehen in die Gefangenschaft. 42 Das Ungeziefer wird all deine Bäume und die Früchte deines Ackers verderben. 43 Der Fremde, der sich bei dir aufhält, wird sich immer mehr über dich erheben, und du wirst immer weiter herunterkommen. 44 Er wird dir leihen, du ihm aber nicht. Er wird zum Kopf, und du wirst zum Schwanz. 45 All diese Flüche werden über dich kommen, dich verfolgen und einholen, bis du vernichtet bist, weil du nicht auf die Stimme Jahwes, deines Gottes, gehört und seine Gebote und Vorschriften nicht gehalten hast. 46 Diese Flüche werden als Zeichen und Beweis für immer an dir und deinen Nachkommen haften. 47 Weil du Jahwe, deinem Gott, nicht mit Freude und fröhlichem Herzen gedient hast, als du in allem Überfluss lebtest, 48 wirst du deinen Feinden dienen müssen, die Jahwe auf dich loslassen wird. Dabei wirst du Hunger und Durst haben, an Kleidung und allem anderen Mangel leiden. Jahwe wird ein eisernes Joch auf dich legen, bis er dich vernichtet hat. 49 Ein Volk aus weiter Ferne, vom Ende der Erde, wird er über dich bringen. Wie ein Adler wird diese Nation auf dich herabstoßen, deren Sprache du nicht verstehst, 50 eine Nation ohne jedes Erbarmen, die keine Rücksicht auf die Alten nimmt und für die Jungen keine Gnade kennt. 51 Sie verzehrt alles, was dein Vieh und dein Ackerland hervorgebracht haben, bis du vernichtet bist. Sie wird dir nichts, weder Getreide noch Most oder Öl übrig lassen, weder das Jungvieh deiner Rinder noch die Zucht deines Kleinviehs, bis sie dich zugrunde gerichtet hat. 52 Sie wird dich in allen deinen Städten belagern, bis deine hohen und festen Mauern, auf die du dich verlässt, überall im ganzen Land gefallen sind. Sie wird dich in allen deinen Städten belagern, im ganzen Land, das Jahwe, dein Gott, dir gegeben hat. 53 In der Belagerung und Enge, in die der Feind dich treiben wird, wirst du die Frucht deines Leibes essen, das Fleisch deiner Söhne und Töchter, die Jahwe, dein Gott, dir gegeben hat. 54 Der weichlichste und verwöhnteste deiner Männer wird begehrlich auf seinen Bruder blicken, auf seine Frau, die er liebt, und die Kinder, die ihm noch geblieben sind. 55 Keinem wird er von dem Fleisch seiner Kinder, die er isst, etwas geben wollen, weil ihm in der Belagerung und Bedrängnis, mit der dein Feind dich in allen deinen Städten bedrängt, nichts weiter übrig geblieben ist. 56 Die weichlichste und verwöhnteste Frau, die vor lauter Verwöhntheit und Verzärtelung noch nie versucht hat, ihren Fuß auf die Erde zu setzen, wird begehrlich auf den Mann an ihrem Busen blicken und ihrem Sohn und ihrer Tochter 57 die Nachgeburt missgönnen, die zwischen ihren Beinen hervorkommt, und die Kinder, die sie gebiert. Denn aus Mangel an allem wird sie das heimlich essen in der Belagerung und Bedrängnis, mit der dein Feind dich in allen deinen Städten bedrängt. 58 Wenn du nicht alle Worte dieses Gesetzes, die in diesem Buch niedergeschrieben sind, sorgfältig beachtest, dass du Jahwe, deinen Gott, diesen furchtbaren und herrlichen Namen, fürchtest, 59 dann wird Jahwe dich und deine Nachkommen mit außergewöhnlichen Plagen, mit bösen und hartnäckigen Krankheiten schlagen. 60 Er wird alle Seuchen Ägyptens über dich bringen, vor denen dir graut, und sie werden an dir haften bleiben. 61 Auch alle Krankheiten und Plagen, die in diesem Gesetzbuch nicht erwähnt werden: Jahwe wird sie über dich bringen, bis du vernichtet bist. 62 Wenn du nicht auf die Stimme Jahwes, deines Gottes, hörst, werden nur wenige von euch übrig bleiben, statt dass ihr zahlreich seid wie die Sterne am Himmel. 63 Und so wie Jahwe seine Freude daran hatte, euch Gutes zu tun und euch zahlreich werden zu lassen, wird er seine Freude daran haben, euch zugrunde zu richten und euch zu vernichten. Ihr werdet aus dem Erdreich herausgerissen werden, das du jetzt in Besitz nehmen willst. 64 Jahwe wird dich unter alle Völker zerstreuen von einem Ende der Erde bis zum anderen. Dort wirst du anderen Göttern dienen, die weder du noch deine Vorfahren gekannt haben, Göttern aus Holz und Stein. 65 Unter diesen Völkern wirst du nicht ruhig wohnen können, dein Fuß wird keine Bleibe finden. Jahwe wird dir dort ein zitterndes Herz, erlöschende Augen und eine verzweifelte Seele geben. 66 Dein Leben wird in Gefahr schweben. Du wirst dich Tag und Nacht fürchten und deines Lebens nicht mehr sicher sein. 67 Am Morgen wirst du sagen: 'Wäre es doch Abend!', und am Abend wirst du sagen: 'Wäre es doch Morgen!'. So voller Furcht wird dein Herz sein, und so schrecklich wird sein, was du sehen musst. 68 Jahwe wird dich auf Schiffen wieder nach Ägypten führen auf dem Weg, von dem ich dir gesagt habe: 'Du sollst ihn nie mehr sehen.' Und dort müsst ihr euch euren Feinden als Sklaven und Sklavinnen zum Kauf anbieten, doch es wird kein Käufer da sein.“

Gott erneuert seinen Bund mit Israel

69 Es folgen die Worte des Bundes, den Mose nach Jahwes Befehl mit den Israeliten im Land Moab geschlossen hat, neben dem Bund, den er am Horeb mit ihnen schloss.

1 وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمْ صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ طَاعَةً تَامَّةً، حِرْصاً مِنْكُمْ عَلَى تَنْفِيذِ جَمِيعِ وَصَايَاهُ الَّتِي أُوصِيكُمْ بِها الْيَوْمَ، فَإِنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ يَجْعَلُكُمْ أَسْمَى مِنْ جَمِيعِ أُمَمِ الأَرْضِ. 2 وَإذَا سَمِعْتُمْ لِصَوْتِ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ فَإِنَّ جَمِيعَ هَذِهِ الْبَرَكَاتِ تَنْسَكِبُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَتُلازِمُكُمْ. 3 تَكُونُونَ مُبَارَكِينَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ وَمُبَارَكِينَ فِي الْحُقُولِ. 4 كَمَا تَتَبَارَكُ ذُرِّيَّتُكُمْ، وَغَلّاتُ أَرْضِكُمْ، وَنِتَاجُ بَهَائِمِكُمْ وَبَقَرِكُمْ وَنِعَاجِكُمْ. 5 وَتَتَبَارَكُ أَيْضاً فَوَاكِهُ سِلالِكُمْ وَخُبْزُ مَعَاجِنِكُمْ. 6 وَتَكُونُونَ مُبَارَكِينَ فِي دُخُولِكُمْ وَخُرُوجِكُمْ 7 وَيَهْزِمُ الرَّبُّ أَمَامَكُمْ أَعْدَاءَكُمُ الْقَائِمِينَ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَيُقْبِلُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي طَرِيقٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، وَلَكِنَّهُمْ يُوَلُّونَ الأَدْبَارَ أَمَامَكُمْ فِي سَبْعِ طُرُقٍ. 8 يَأْمُرُ الرَّبُّ لَكُمْ بِالْبَرَكَةِ، فَتَمْتَلِئُ خَزَائِنُكُمْ. وَيُبَارِكُ كُلَّ مَا تُنْتِجُهُ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَغَلّاتِ أَرْضِكُمُ الَّتِي يَهَبُهَا لَكُمْ. 9 وَإذَا حَفِظْتُمْ وَصَايَاهُ وَسَلَكْتُمْ فِي سُبُلِهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَجْعَلُكُمْ لِنَفْسِهِ شَعْباً مُقَدَّساً كَمَا حَلَفَ لَكُمْ، 10 فَتُدْرِكُ جَمِيعُ شُعُوبِ الأَرْضِ أَنَّ اسْمَ الرَّبِّ قَدْ حَلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ، وَيَخَافُونَكُمْ. 11 وَيَزِيدُكُمُ الرَّبُّ وَفْرَةً فَيُكَثِّرُ مِنْ أَبْنَائِكُمْ وَنِتَاجِ بَهَائِمِكُمْ وَمِنْ غَلّاتِ أَرْضِكُمُ الَّتِي حَلَفَ لِآبَائِكُمْ أَنْ يَهَبَهَا لَكُمْ. 12 وَيَفْتَحُ لَكُمُ الرَّبُّ كُنُوزَ سَمَائِهِ الصَّالِحَةَ، فَيُمْطِرُ عَلَى أَرْضِكُمْ فِي مَوَاسِمِهَا، وَيُبَارِكُ كُلَّ مَا تُنْتِجُهُ أَيْدِيكُمْ، فَتُقْرِضُونَ أُمَماً كَثِيرَةً وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَقْتَرِضُونَ. 13 وَإذَا أَطَعْتُمْ وَصَايَا الرَّبِّ الَّتِي أَنَا آمُرُكُمْ بِها الْيَوْمَ لِتَحْفَظُوهَا وَتَعْمَلُوا بِها، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْعَلُكُمْ رُؤُوساً لَا أَذْنَاباً، مُتَسَامِينَ دَائِماً، وَلا يُدْرِكُكُمُ انْحِطَاطٌ أَبَداً. 14 لَا تَنْحَرِفُوا يَمِيناً أَوْ شِمَالاً عَنْ جَمِيعِ هَذِهِ الشَّرَائِعِ الَّتِي أَنَا أُوصِيكُمْ بِها الْيَوْمَ، لِكَيْ لَا تَغْوُوا وَرَاءَ آلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى لِتَعْبُدُوهَا.

15 وَلَكِنْ إِنْ عَصَيْتُمْ صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ وَلَمْ تَحْرِصُوا عَلَى الْعَمَلِ بِجَمِيعِ وَصَايَاهُ وَفَرَائِضِهِ الَّتِي أَنَا آمُرُكُمُ الْيَوْمَ بِها، فَإِنَّ جَمِيعَ هَذِهِ اللَّعْنَاتِ تَحِلُّ بِكُمْ وَتُلازِمُكُمْ. 16 تَكُونُونَ مَلْعُونِينَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ وَمَلْعُونِينَ فِي الْحُقُولِ. 17 وَتَكُونُ سِلالُكُمْ وَمَعَاجِنُكُمْ مَلْعُونَةً. 18 وَتَحِلُّ اللَّعْنَةُ بِأَبْنَائِكُمْ وَغَلّاتِ أَرْضِكُمْ وَنِتَاجِ بَقَرِكُمْ وَنِعَاجِكُمْ، 19 وَتَكُونُونَ مَلْعُونِينَ فِي ذِهَابِكُمْ وَإِيَابِكُمْ، 20 وَيَصُبُّ الرَّبُّ عَلَيْكُمُ اللَّعْنَةَ وَالْفَوْضَى وَالْفَشَلَ فِي كُلِّ مَا تُنْتِجُهُ أَيْدِيكُمْ، حَتَّى تَهْلِكُوا وَتَفْنَوْا سَرِيعاً لِسُوءِ أَفْعَالِكُمْ، إِذْ تَرَكْتُمُونِي. 21 وَيَتَفَشَّى بَيْنَكُمُ الْوَبَاءُ حَتَّى يُبِيدَكُمْ عَنِ الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ مَاضُونَ إِلَيْهَا لامْتِلاكِهَا، 22 وَيَضْرِبُكُمُ الرَّبُّ بِالسُّلِّ وَالْحُمَّى وَالرَّعْشَةِ وَالالْتِهَابِ وَالْجَفَافِ وَاللَّفْحِ وَالذُّبُولِ، فَتُلازِمُكُمْ حَتَّى تَفْنَوْا. 23 وَتُصْبِحُ السَّمَاءُ الَّتِي فَوْقَكُمْ كَالنُّحَاسِ وَالأَرْضُ تَحْتَكُمْ كَالْحَدِيدِ. 24 وَيُحَوِّلُ الرَّبُّ مَطَرَ أَرْضِكُمْ إِلَى غُبَارٍ وَعَوَاصِفَ تُرَابِيَّةٍ تَنْهَمِرُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ حَتَّى تَهْلِكُوا. 25 وَيَهْزِمُكُمُ الرَّبُّ أَمَامَ أَعْدَائِكُمْ فَتُقْبِلُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي طَرِيقٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَتُوَلُّونَ الأَدْبَارَ أَمَامَهُمْ مُتَفَرِّقِينَ فِي سَبْعِ طُرُقٍ، وَتُصْبِحُونَ عِبْرَةً لِجَمِيعِ مَمَالِكِ الأَرْضِ. 26 وَتَكُونُ جُثَثُكُمْ طَعَاماً لِجَمِيعِ طُيُورِ السَّمَاءِ وَوُحُوشِ الأَرْضِ وَلا يَطْرُدُهَا أَحَدٌ. 27 وَيُصِيبُكُمُ الرَّبُّ بِدَاءِ قُرْحَةِ مِصْرَ وَبِالْبَوَاسِيرِ وَالْجَرَبِ وَالْحِكَّةِ، وَلا تَجِدُونَ لَهَا عِلاجاً. 28 وَيَبْتَلِيكُمُ الرَّبُّ بِالْجُنُونِ وَالْعَمَى وَارْتِبَاكِ الْفِكْرِ، 29 فَتَتَحَسَّسُونَ طُرُقَكُمْ فِي الظُّهْرِ كَمَا يَتَحَسَّسُ الأَعْمَى طَرِيقَهُ فِي الظَّلامِ، وَتَبُوءُ طُرُقُكُمْ بِالإِخْفَاقِ، وَلا تَكُونُونَ إِلّا مَظْلُومِينَ مَغْصُوبِينَ كُلَّ الأَيَّامِ، وَلَيْسَ مِنْ مُنْقِذٍ. 30 يَخْطُبُ أَحَدُكُمُ امْرَأَةً وَلَكِنَّ آخَرَ يَتَزَوَّجُهَا وَيُضَاجِعُهَا. تَبْنِي بَيْتاً وَلا تَسْكُنُ فِيهِ، وَتَغْرِسُ كَرْماً وَلا تَجْنِيهِ. 31 يُذْبَحُ ثَوْرُكَ أَمَامَ عَيْنَيْكَ وَلا تَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ، وَيُغْتَصَبُ حِمَارُكَ عَلَى مَرْأَىً مِنْكَ وَلا يُرَدُّ إِلَيْكَ، وَيَسْتَوْلِي أَعْدَاؤُكَ عَلَى مَاشِيَتِكَ وَلَيْسَ مِنْ مُنْقِذٍ. 32 يُسَاقُ أَوْلادُكَ وَبَنَاتُكَ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ أُخْرَى وَعَيْنَاكَ تُرَاقِبَانِهِمْ طَوَالَ النَّهَارِ، حَتَّى تَكِلّا، وَمَا فِي يَدِكَ حِيلَةٌ. 33 مَحْصُولُ أَرْضِكَ وَثَمَرُ تَعَبِكَ يَأْكُلُهُ شَعْبٌ غَرِيبٌ عَنْكَ، وَلا تَكُونُ سِوَى مَظْلُومٍ مَسْحُوقٍ دَائِماً. 34 وَيُصِيبُكَ الْجُنُونُ مِنْ هَوْلِ مَا تَرَى. 35 وَيَبْتَلِيكَ الرَّبُّ بِقُرُوحٍ خَبِيثَةٍ تُغَطِّي الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ وَالسَّاقَيْنِ، حَتَّى لَا تَجِدَ لَهَا شِفَاءً مِنْ قِمَّةِ الرَّأْسِ إِلَى أَخْمَصِ الْقَدَمِ. 36 يَنْفِيكُمُ الرَّبُّ أَنْتُمْ وَمَلِكَكُمُ الَّذِي تَخْتَارُونَهُ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ لَا تَعْرِفُونَهَا أَنْتُمْ وَلا آبَاؤُكُمْ، حَيْثُ تَعْبُدُونَ هُنَاكَ آلِهَةً أُخْرَى مِنْ خَشَبٍ وَحَجَرٍ، 37 وَتُصْبِحُونَ مَثَارَ دَهْشَةٍ وَسُخْرِيَةٍ وَعِبْرَةٍ فِي نَظَرِ جَمِيعِ الشُّعُوبِ الَّتِي يَنْفِيكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَيْهِمْ 38 تَبْذُرُونَ كَثِيراً مِنَ الْبِذَارِ 65 And among these nations you shall find no respite, and there shall be no resting place for the sole of your foot, but the Lord will give you there a trembling heart and failing eyes and a languishing soul. Там ты будешь служить другим богам, богам из дерева и камня. 37 Тебя будут презирать и над тобой будут насмехаться, ты будешь отвратителен всем тем народам, к которым уведёт тебя Вечный. 38 Ты будешь сеять на поле много семян, но соберёшь бедный урожай, потому что его пожрёт саранча. 39 Ты будешь сажать виноградники и ухаживать за ними, но не пить тебе вина, не собирать плода, потому что виноград сожрут черви. 40 По всей стране будут расти маслины, но не видать тебе масла, потому что оливки осыплются. 41 У тебя будут сыновья и дочери, но ты не сохранишь их, потому что их уведут в плен. 42 Рои саранчи захватят твои деревья и урожаи твоей земли. 43 Живущий у тебя чужеземец будет подниматься над тобой всё выше и выше, а ты будешь опускаться всё ниже и ниже. 44 Он будет давать тебе взаймы, а ты не будешь давать ему взаймы. Он будет головой, а ты будешь хвостом. 45 Все эти проклятия падут на тебя. Ведь она захочет съесть их тайно во время осады и в бедствии, которое враг причинит тебе во всех твоих городах. 58 Если ты не будешь прилежно следовать всем словам Закона, который записан в этом свитке, и не будешь чтить славное и страшное имя Вечного, твоего Бога^[6], 59 то Вечный наведёт на тебя и на твоих потомков ужасные несчастья, жестокие и продолжительные бедствия и свирепые, затяжные болезни. 60 Он наведёт на тебя все недуги Египта, которых ты ужасался, и они пристанут к тебе. 61 Ещё Вечный наведёт на тебя такие болезни и беды, о которых не говорится в этом свитке Закона, пока ты не погибнешь. 62 Вас было много, как звёзд на небе, но останется мало, потому что вы не были послушны Вечному, вашему Богу. 63 Как Вечный радовался, делая вам добро и умножая ваше число, так Он будет радоваться, губя и истребляя вас. Вы будете искоренены из земли, куда вы вступаете, чтобы завладеть ею. 64 Тогда Вечный рассеет вас по всем народам, от одного конца земли до другого. Там вы будете служить другим богам – богам из дерева и камня, которых не знали ни вы, ни ваши предки. 65 Между теми народами вы не обретёте покоя, и не будет спокойного места, куда могла бы ступить ваша нога. Там Вечный заставит ваше сердце трепетать, истомит тоской ваши глаза и наполнит отчаянием вашу душу. 66 Вы будете жить в постоянной тревоге, полные ужаса и днём, и ночью, никогда не уверенные в своей жизни. 67 Утром вы скажете: «Ах, скорее бы вечер!» – а вечером: «О, скорее бы утро!» – от ужаса, который наполнит ваши сердца, и из-за того, что увидят ваши глаза. 68 Вечный возвратит вас на кораблях в Египет тем путём, о котором я говорил, что вы никогда не проделаете его вновь. Там вы будете предлагать себя на продажу как рабов и рабынь своим врагам, но никто вас не купит.
