1In the seventh year, in the fifth month on the tenth day, some of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the Lord, and they sat down in front of me.2Then the word of the Lord came to me:3‘Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: have you come to enquire of me? As surely as I live, I will not let you enquire of me, declares the Sovereign Lord.”4‘Will you judge them? Will you judge them, son of man? Then confront them with the detestable practices of their ancestors5and say to them: “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: on the day I chose Israel, I swore with uplifted hand to the descendants of Jacob and revealed myself to them in Egypt. With uplifted hand I said to them, ‘I am the Lord your God.’6On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.7And I said to them, ‘Each of you, get rid of the vile images you have set your eyes on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’8‘ “But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me; they did not get rid of the vile images they had set their eyes on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in Egypt.9But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt. I did it to keep my name from being profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites.10Therefore I led them out of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.11I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, by which the person who obeys them will live.12Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the Lord made them holy.13‘ “Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws – by which the person who obeys them will live – and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness.14But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.15Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them – a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands –16because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols.17Yet I looked on them with pity and did not destroy them or put an end to them in the wilderness.18I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Do not follow the statutes of your parents or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols.19I am the Lord your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.20Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’21‘ “But the children rebelled against me: they did not follow my decrees, they were not careful to keep my laws, of which I said, ‘The person who obeys them will live by them,’ and they desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in the wilderness.22But I withheld my hand, and for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.23Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would disperse them among the nations and scatter them through the countries,24because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes lusted after their parents’ idols.25So I gave them other statutes that were not good and laws through which they could not live;26I defiled them through their gifts – the sacrifice of every firstborn – that I might fill them with horror so that they would know that I am the Lord.”27‘Therefore, son of man, speak to the people of Israel and say to them, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: in this also your ancestors blasphemed me by being unfaithful to me:28when I brought them into the land I had sworn to give them and they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, made offerings that aroused my anger, presented their fragrant incense and poured out their drink offerings.29Then I said to them: what is this high place you go to?” ’ (It is called Bamah[1] to this day.)
Rebellious Israel renewed
30‘Therefore say to the Israelites: “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: will you defile yourselves the way your ancestors did and lust after their vile images?31When you offer your gifts – the sacrifice of your children in the fire – you continue to defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. Am I to let you enquire of me, you Israelites? As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will not let you enquire of me.32‘ “You say, ‘We want to be like the nations, like the peoples of the world, who serve wood and stone.’ But what you have in mind will never happen.33As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will reign over you with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath.34I will bring you from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered – with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath.35I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations and there, face to face, I will execute judgment upon you.36As I judged your ancestors in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will judge you, declares the Sovereign Lord.37I will take note of you as you pass under my rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.38I will purge you of those who revolt and rebel against me. Although I will bring them out of the land where they are living, yet they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.39‘ “As for you, people of Israel, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: go and serve your idols, every one of you! But afterwards you will surely listen to me and no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and idols.40For on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord, there in the land all the people of Israel will serve me, and there I will accept them. There I will require your offerings and your choice gifts,[2] along with all your holy sacrifices.41I will accept you as fragrant incense when I bring you out from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will be proved holy through you in the sight of the nations.42Then you will know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, the land I had sworn with uplifted hand to give to your ancestors.43There you will remember your conduct and all the actions by which you have defiled yourselves, and you will loathe yourselves for all the evil you have done.44You will know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for my name’s sake and not according to your evil ways and your corrupt practices, you people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.” ’
Prophecy against the south
45The word of the Lord came to me:46‘Son of man, set your face towards the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest of the southland.47Say to the southern forest: “Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to set fire to you, and it will consume all your trees, both green and dry. The blazing flame will not be quenched, and every face from south to north will be scorched by it.48Everyone will see that I the Lord have kindled it; it will not be quenched.” ’49Then I said, ‘Sovereign Lord, they are saying of me, “Isn’t he just telling parables?” ’[3]

Halte ihnen die Gräuel ihrer Väter vor! (2Ki 16:3; 2Ki 17:17; 2Ki 21:6; Ps 106:39; Eze 6:7; Eze 16:20; Eze 20:38; Eze 20:42; Eze 20:44)27Darum, o Menschensohn, rede zu dem Haus Israel und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Auch dadurch haben mich eure Väter gelästert, dass sie treulos an mir handelten: (Eze 2:7; Eze 3:4; Eze 3:11; Eze 3:27; 2Ti 4:2)28Denn als ich sie in das Land gebracht hatte, betreffs dessen ich geschworen hatte, dass ich es ihnen geben wolle, da ersahen sie jeden hohen Hügel und jeden dicht belaubten Baum und schlachteten dort ihre Opfer und brachten dort ihre Gaben dar, um mich zu ärgern, und legten dort ihr lieblich duftendes Räucherwerk nieder und gossen dort ihre Trankopfer aus. (2Ki 17:9; Ps 78:58; Isa 57:5; Jer 2:7; Jer 2:20; Ho 4:13)29Da fragte ich sie: Was soll diese Höhe, wohin ihr geht? Daher nennt man sie »Höhe« bis zu diesem Tag. (De 12:2; Eze 16:24; Eze 16:31)
Der Herr tadelt die jetzige Generation der Israeliten
30Darum sprich zum Haus Israel: So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Verunreinigt ihr euch nicht nach der Weise eurer Väter und hurt ihren Götzen nach? (Nu 32:14; Jud 2:19; Jer 7:9; Jer 7:26; Ac 7:51)31Ja, durch die Darbringung eurer Gaben, dadurch, dass ihr eure Kinder durchs Feuer gehen lasst, verunreinigt ihr euch an allen euren Götzen bis zu diesem Tag; und ich sollte mich von euch befragen lassen, ihr vom Haus Israel? So wahr ich lebe, spricht GOTT, der Herr, ich will mich von euch nicht befragen lassen! (Jer 7:31; Eze 20:1; Eze 20:26; Eze 23:37)32Und was euch in den Sinn gekommen ist, dass ihr sagt: »Wir wollen sein wie die Heidenvölker, wie die Geschlechter der Länder, indem wir Holz und Stein dienen«, das soll nicht geschehen! (1Sa 8:19; Ps 33:10; Pr 19:21; Jer 44:17; Eph 4:17)33So wahr ich lebe, spricht GOTT, der Herr, ich will selbst mit starker Hand, mit ausgestrecktem Arm und mit ausgeschüttetem Grimm über euch herrschen; (Ps 2:9; Jer 21:5; Eze 8:18; Da 9:11)34und ich will euch aus den Völkern herausführen und euch aus den Ländern sammeln, in die ihr zerstreut worden seid, mit starker Hand, mit ausgestrecktem Arm und mit ausgeschüttetem Grimm; (De 4:34; De 5:15; Isa 27:11)35und ich will euch in die Wüste der Völker führen und dort mit euch ins Gericht gehen von Angesicht zu Angesicht. (Ps 50:21; Ho 2:16; Ho 12:3)36Wie ich in der Wüste des Landes Ägypten mit euren Vätern ins Gericht gegangen bin, so will ich auch mit euch ins Gericht gehen, spricht GOTT, der Herr. (Le 27:32; Jer 33:13; Eze 16:59; Eze 34:17)38Und ich will die Widerspenstigen und die von mir Abgefallenen von euch absondern; ich will sie aus dem Land ihrer Fremdlingschaft herausführen, aber in das Land Israel soll keiner von ihnen kommen; und ihr sollt erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. Die Wiederherstellung Israels wird verheißen
39So geht nur, spricht GOTT, der Herr, ihr vom Haus Israel, und dient nur jeder seinen Götzen! Aber danach werdet ihr gewiss auf mich hören und meinen heiligen Namen künftig nicht mehr mit euren Gaben und mit euren Götzen entheiligen. (Jud 10:14; Isa 1:13; Eze 20:28; Eze 20:31; Am 4:4; Mt 6:6)40Denn auf meinem heiligen Berg, auf dem erhabenen Berg Israels, spricht GOTT, der Herr, dort wird mir das ganze Haus Israel dienen, sie alle, [die] im Land [sind]; dort will ich sie gnädig annehmen; und dort will ich eure Hebopfer fordern und eure Erstlingsgaben und alles, was ihr heiligt. (Nu 18:8; Nu 18:11; Nu 18:26; Isa 2:2; Isa 56:6; Jer 31:12; Eze 17:22; Eze 45:1; Eze 45:13; Eze 45:16; Ob 1:17)41Als einen lieblichen Geruch will ich euch gnädig annehmen, wenn ich euch aus den Völkern herausführe und euch sammle aus den Ländern, in die ihr zerstreut worden seid, damit ich an euch geheiligt werde vor den Augen der Heidenvölker. (Ps 141:2; Eze 11:17; Eze 28:25; Eze 36:23; Eze 39:27; Ro 12:1; 1Pe 3:15)42Und ihr sollt erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich euch in das Land Israel führe, in das Land, von dem ich geschworen hatte, dass ich es euren Vätern geben werde. (Isa 57:13; Jer 24:7; Jer 31:34; Eze 20:6; Eze 20:38; Eze 20:44)43Dort werdet ihr an eure Wege gedenken und an alle eure Taten, mit denen ihr euch verunreinigt habt; und ihr werdet Abscheu über euch selbst empfinden wegen aller eurer bösen Taten, die ihr begangen habt. (Job 42:6; Eze 16:61; Eze 36:31)44Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich mit euch handeln werde um meines Namens willen und nicht nach eurem bösen Wandel und euren ruchlosen Taten, Haus Israel!, spricht GOTT, der Herr. (Eze 20:9; Eze 20:14; Eze 20:22; Eze 20:38; Eze 36:21)
1Und es begab sich im siebenten Jahr am zehnten Tage des fünften Monats, da kamen einige von den Ältesten Israels, den HERRN zu befragen, und setzten sich vor mir nieder. (Eze 14:1)2Da geschah des HERRN Wort zu mir:3Du Menschenkind, sage den Ältesten Israels und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht Gott der HERR: Seid ihr gekommen, mich zu befragen? So wahr ich lebe: Ich lasse mich nicht von euch befragen, spricht Gott der HERR. (Eze 14:3)4Willst du sie richten, du Menschenkind? Willst du richten? Zeige ihnen die Gräueltaten ihrer Väter (Eze 22:2; Eze 23:36)5und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht Gott der HERR: Zu der Zeit, als ich Israel erwählte, erhob ich meine Hand zum Schwur für das Geschlecht des Hauses Jakob und gab mich ihnen zu erkennen in Ägyptenland. Ja, ich erhob meine Hand für sie und schwor: Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott. (Ex 6:7)6Ich erhob zur selben Zeit meine Hand zum Schwur, dass ich sie führen würde aus Ägyptenland in ein Land, das ich für sie ausersehen hatte, das von Milch und Honig fließt, ein edles Land vor allen Ländern, (Ex 3:8)7und sprach zu ihnen: Ein jeder werfe weg die Gräuelbilder vor seinen Augen, und macht euch nicht unrein mit den Götzen Ägyptens; denn ich bin der HERR, euer Gott. (Jos 24:14; Jos 24:23)8Sie aber waren mir ungehorsam und wollten mir nicht gehorchen, und keiner von ihnen warf die Gräuelbilder vor seinen Augen weg, und sie verließen die Götzen Ägyptens nicht. Da dachte ich, meinen Grimm über sie auszuschütten und meinen ganzen Zorn an ihnen auszulassen noch in Ägyptenland.9Aber ich unterließ es um meines Namens willen, damit er nicht entheiligt würde vor den Völkern, unter denen sie waren und vor deren Augen ich mich ihnen zu erkennen gegeben hatte, dass ich sie aus Ägyptenland führen wollte. (Ex 32:12; Eze 14:1; Eze 36:21)10Und als ich sie aus Ägyptenland geführt und in die Wüste gebracht hatte,11gab ich ihnen meine Gebote und lehrte sie meine Gesetze, durch die der Mensch lebt, der sie hält. (Le 18:5; Lu 10:28)12Ich gab ihnen auch meine Sabbate zum Zeichen zwischen mir und ihnen, damit sie erkannten, dass ich der HERR bin, der sie heiligt. (Ex 31:13)13Aber das Haus Israel war mir ungehorsam auch in der Wüste, und sie lebten nicht nach meinen Geboten und verachteten meine Gesetze, durch die der Mensch lebt, der sie hält, und sie entheiligten meine Sabbate sehr. Da gedachte ich, meinen Grimm über sie auszuschütten in der Wüste und sie ganz und gar umzubringen. (Ex 32:10)14Aber ich unterließ es um meines Namens willen, damit er nicht entheiligt würde vor den Völkern, vor deren Augen ich sie herausgeführt hatte.15Doch ich erhob meine Hand in der Wüste und schwor ihnen, sie nicht in das Land zu bringen, das ich ihnen bestimmt hatte, das von Milch und Honig fließt, ein edles Land vor allen Ländern, (Nu 14:30)16weil sie meine Gesetze verachtet und nicht nach meinen Geboten gelebt und meine Sabbate entheiligt hatten; denn ihr Herz folgte ihren Götzen nach.17Aber mein Auge blickte schonend auf sie, dass ich sie nicht vertilgte; ich habe mit ihnen nicht ein Ende gemacht in der Wüste.18Und ich sprach zu ihren Söhnen in der Wüste: Ihr sollt nicht nach den Geboten eurer Väter leben und ihre Gesetze nicht halten und mit ihren Götzen euch nicht unrein machen;19denn ich bin der HERR, euer Gott. Nach meinen Geboten sollt ihr leben, und meine Gesetze sollt ihr halten und danach tun;20und meine Sabbate sollt ihr heiligen, dass sie ein Zeichen seien zwischen mir und euch, damit ihr wisst, dass ich, der HERR, euer Gott bin.21Aber auch die Söhne waren mir ungehorsam, lebten nicht nach meinen Geboten, hielten auch meine Gesetze nicht, dass sie danach taten, durch die der Mensch lebt, der sie hält, und entheiligten meine Sabbate. Da gedachte ich, meinen Grimm über sie auszuschütten und meinen ganzen Zorn an ihnen auszulassen in der Wüste.22Ich hielt aber meine Hand zurück und unterließ es um meines Namens willen, damit er nicht entheiligt würde vor den Völkern, vor deren Augen ich sie herausgeführt hatte.23Doch ich erhob meine Hand in der Wüste und schwor ihnen, sie unter die Völker zu zerstreuen und in die Länder zu versprengen, (Le 26:33)24weil sie meine Gesetze nicht gehalten und meine Gebote verachtet und meine Sabbate entheiligt hatten und nach den Götzen ihrer Väter sahen.25Darum gab auch ich ihnen Gebote, die nicht gut waren, und Gesetze, durch die sie kein Leben haben konnten,26und ließ sie unrein werden durch ihre Opfer, als sie alle Erstgeburt durchs Feuer gehen ließen, damit ich Entsetzen über sie brachte und sie so erkennen mussten, dass ich der HERR bin. (Ex 13:2; Ex 13:13; Ex 22:28)27Darum rede, du Menschenkind, mit dem Hause Israel und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht Gott der HERR: Eure Väter haben mich auch damit gelästert, dass sie mir die Treue gebrochen haben,28als ich sie in das Land gebracht hatte, über das ich meine Hand erhoben hatte zu dem Schwur, es ihnen zu geben: Wo sie irgendeinen hohen Hügel oder dichten Baum sahen, da opferten sie ihre Opfer und dahin brachten sie ihre Gaben mir zum Ärgernis und da legten sie ihre Räucheropfer nieder und da gossen sie ihre Trankopfer aus.29Ich aber sprach zu ihnen: Was ist das für eine Höhe, auf die ihr geht? Daher heißt sie bis auf diesen Tag »Höhe«.30Darum sprich zum Hause Israel: So spricht Gott der HERR: Macht ihr euch nicht unrein in der Weise eurer Väter und treibt Abgötterei mit ihren Gräuelbildern?31Ihr macht euch unrein mit euren Götzen bis auf den heutigen Tag dadurch, dass ihr eure Gaben opfert und eure Söhne und Töchter durchs Feuer gehen lasst. Und da sollte ich mich von euch, Haus Israel, befragen lassen? So wahr ich lebe, spricht Gott der HERR: Ich will mich von euch nicht befragen lassen.32Dazu soll euch fehlschlagen, was euch in den Sinn kommt, wenn ihr sagt: Wir wollen sein wie die Heiden, wie die Völker in den andern Ländern, und Holz und Stein anbeten. (Ex 23:24)33So wahr ich lebe, spricht Gott der HERR: Ich will über euch herrschen mit starker Hand und ausgestrecktem Arm und mit ausgeschüttetem Grimm34und will euch aus den Völkern herausführen und aus den Ländern, in die ihr zerstreut worden seid, sammeln mit starker Hand, mit ausgestrecktem Arm und mit ausgeschüttetem Grimm35und will euch in die Wüste der Völker bringen und dort mit euch ins Gericht gehen von Angesicht zu Angesicht. (Ho 2:16)36Wie ich mit euren Vätern in der Wüste von Ägypten ins Gericht gegangen bin, ebenso will ich auch mit euch ins Gericht gehen, spricht Gott der HERR. (Nu 14:22)37Ich will euch unter dem Stabe hindurchgehen lassen und euch genau abzählen (Le 27:32; Jer 33:13)38und will die Abtrünnigen und die, die von mir abfielen, von euch aussondern. Ja, aus dem Lande, in dem ihr jetzt Fremdlinge seid, will ich sie herausführen; aber ins Land Israels sollen sie nicht hineinkommen, damit ihr erkennt: Ich bin der HERR!39Aber ihr vom Hause Israel, so spricht Gott der HERR: Weil ihr mir denn nicht gehorchen wollt, so fahrt hin und dient ein jeder seinem Götzen, aber meinen heiligen Namen lasst hinfort ungeschändet mit euren Opfern und Götzen!40Denn so spricht Gott der HERR: Auf meinem heiligen Berg, auf dem hohen Berge Israels, da wird mir das ganze Haus Israel dienen, alle, die im Lande sind. Da werde ich sie gnädig annehmen, und da will ich eure Opfer und eure Erstlingsgaben fordern und alle eure heiligen Gaben. (Eze 17:23)41Ich will euch gnädig annehmen beim lieblichen Geruch der Opfer, wenn ich euch aus den Völkern bringen und aus den Ländern sammeln werde, in die ihr zerstreut worden seid, und ich werde mich an euch als heilig erweisen vor den Augen der Völker.42Und ihr werdet erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich euch ins Land Israels bringe, in das Land, über das ich meine Hand erhob zu dem Schwur, es euren Vätern zu geben.43Dort werdet ihr gedenken an eure Wege und alle eure Taten, mit denen ihr euch unrein gemacht habt, und werdet vor euch selbst Abscheu haben wegen all der bösen Taten, die ihr getan habt. (Eze 36:31)44Und ihr werdet erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich so an euch handle zur Ehre meines Namens und nicht nach euren bösen Wegen und verderblichen Taten, du Haus Israel, spricht Gott der HERR.
