Das Kommen des Heiligen Geistes

1 Und als der Tag des Pfingstfestes^[1] erfüllt war, waren sie alle an einem Ort beisammen. (3Mo 23,15; 5Mo 16,9) 2 Und plötzlich geschah aus dem Himmel ein Brausen, als führe ein gewaltiger Wind daher, und erfüllte das ganze Haus, wo sie saßen. 3 Und es erschienen ihnen zerteilte Zungen wie von Feuer, und sie setzten sich^[2] auf jeden Einzelnen von ihnen. 4 Und sie wurden alle mit Heiligem Geist erfüllt und fingen an, in anderen Sprachen^[3] zu reden, wie der Geist ihnen gab auszusprechen. 5 Es wohnten aber in Jerusalem Juden, gottesfürchtige Männer, von jeder Nation unter dem Himmel. 6 Als aber dieses Geräusch^[4] entstand, kam die Menge zusammen und wurde bestürzt, weil jeder Einzelne sie in seiner eigenen Mundart reden hörte. (1Mo 11,9) 7 Sie entsetzten sich aber alle und wunderten sich und sagten: Siehe, sind nicht alle diese, die da reden, Galiläer? 8 Und wie hören wir ⟨sie⟩, ein jeder in unserer eigenen Mundart, in der wir geboren sind: 9 Parther und Meder und Elamiter und die Bewohner von Mesopotamien und von Judäa und Kappadozien, Pontus und Asien^[5] 10 und Phrygien und Pamphylien, Ägypten und den Gegenden von Libyen gegen Kyrene hin und die ⟨hier⟩ weilenden Römer, 11 sowohl Juden als ⟨auch⟩ Proselyten^[6], Kreter und Araber – ⟨wie⟩ hören wir sie von den großen Taten Gottes in unseren Sprachen reden? (Ps 9,2) 12 Sie entsetzten sich aber alle und waren in Verlegenheit und sagten einer zum anderen: Was mag dies wohl sein? 13 Andere aber sagten spottend: Sie sind voll süßen Weines. (1Kor 14,23)

Pfingstpredigt des Petrus

14 Petrus aber stand auf mit den elf ⟨Aposteln⟩, erhob seine Stimme und redete zu ihnen: Männer von Judäa^[7] und ihr alle, die ihr zu Jerusalem wohnt, dies sei euch kund, und hört auf meine Worte! 15 Denn diese sind nicht betrunken, wie ihr meint, denn es ist die dritte Stunde des Tages^[8]; 16 sondern dies ist es, was durch den Propheten Joel gesagt ist: 17 »Und es wird geschehen in den letzten Tagen, spricht Gott, dass ich von meinem Geist ausgießen werde auf alles Fleisch, und eure Söhne und eure Töchter werden weissagen, und eure jungen Männer werden Erscheinungen sehen, und eure Ältesten werden in Träumen Visionen haben; (Jes 44,3) 18 und sogar auf meine Knechte^[9] und auf meine Mägde^[10] werde ich in jenen Tagen von meinem Geist ausgießen, und sie werden weissagen. 19 Und ich werde Wunder tun oben am Himmel und Zeichen unten auf der Erde: Blut und Feuer und qualmender Rauch; 20 die Sonne wird verwandelt werden in Finsternis und der Mond in Blut, ehe der große und herrliche Tag des Herrn kommt. (Apg 1,8) 33 Nachdem er nun durch die Rechte Gottes erhöht worden ist und die Verheißung des Heiligen Geistes vom Vater empfangen hat, hat er dieses ausgegossen, was ihr seht und hört^[17]. Entstehung der Gemeinde

37 Als sie aber ⟨das⟩ hörten, drang es ihnen durchs Herz, und sie sprachen zu Petrus und den anderen Aposteln: Was sollen wir tun, ihr Brüder^[18]? The Coming of the Holy Spirit

13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. 14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: 15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. 16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. 22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: 23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: 24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. 25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: 27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. 29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. 30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. 34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

La Pentecoste: lo Spirito Santo scende dal cielo

1 Quando il giorno della Pentecoste giunse, tutti erano insieme nello stesso luogo. 2 Improvvisamente si fece dal cielo un suono come di vento impetuoso che soffia, e riempì tutta la casa dov’essi erano seduti. 3 Apparvero loro delle lingue come di fuoco che si dividevano e se ne posò una su ciascuno di loro. 4 Tutti furono riempiti di Spirito Santo e cominciarono a parlare in altre lingue, come lo Spirito dava loro di esprimersi. 5 Or a Gerusalemme soggiornavano dei Giudei, uomini religiosi di ogni nazione che è sotto il cielo. 6 Quando avvenne quel suono, la folla si raccolse e fu confusa, perché ciascuno li udiva parlare nella propria lingua. 7 E si stupivano e si meravigliavano, dicendo: «Tutti questi che parlano non sono Galilei? 8 Come mai li udiamo parlare ciascuno nella nostra propria lingua natìa? 9 Noi Parti, Medi, Elamiti, abitanti della Mesopotamia, della Giudea e della Cappadocia, del Ponto e dell’Asia, 10 della Frigia e della Panfilia, dell’Egitto e delle parti della Libia cirenaica e pellegrini romani, 11 tanto Giudei che proseliti, Cretesi e Arabi, li udiamo parlare delle grandi cose di Dio nelle nostre lingue». 12 Tutti si stupivano ed erano perplessi, dicendo l’un l’altro: «Che cosa significa questo?» 13 Ma altri li deridevano e dicevano: «Sono pieni di vino dolce».

Discorso di Pietro alla Pentecoste

14 Ma Pietro, levatosi in piedi con gli undici, alzò la voce e parlò loro così: «Uomini di Giudea, e voi tutti che abitate in Gerusalemme, vi sia noto questo e ascoltate attentamente le mie parole. 15 Questi non sono ubriachi, come voi supponete, perché è soltanto la terza ora del giorno^[1]; 16 ma questo è quanto fu annunciato per mezzo del profeta Gioele: 17 “Avverrà negli ultimi giorni”, dice Dio, “che io spanderò il mio Spirito sopra ogni persona; i vostri figli e le vostre figlie profetizzeranno, i vostri giovani avranno delle visioni, e i vostri vecchi sogneranno dei sogni. 18 Anche sui miei servi e sulle mie serve, in quei giorni, spanderò il mio Spirito e profetizzeranno. 19 Farò prodigi su nel cielo e segni giù sulla terra, sangue e fuoco, e vapore di fumo. 20 Il sole sarà mutato in tenebre e la luna in sangue, prima che venga il grande e glorioso giorno del Signore. 21 E avverrà che chiunque avrà invocato il nome del Signore sarà salvato”^[2]. 22 Uomini d’Israele, ascoltate queste parole! Gesù il Nazareno, uomo che Dio ha accreditato fra di voi mediante opere potenti, prodigi e segni che Dio fece per mezzo di lui tra di voi, come voi stessi ben sapete, 23 quest’uomo, quando vi fu dato nelle mani per il determinato consiglio e la prescienza di Dio, voi, per mano di iniqui, inchiodandolo sulla croce, lo uccideste; 24 ma Dio lo risuscitò, avendolo sciolto dagli angosciosi legami della morte, perché non era possibile che egli fosse da essa trattenuto. 25 Infatti Davide dice di lui: “Io ho avuto il Signore continuamente davanti agli occhi, perché egli è alla mia destra, affinché io non sia smosso. 26 Per questo si è rallegrato il mio cuore, la mia lingua ha giubilato e anche la mia carne riposerà nella speranza; 27 perché tu non lascerai l’anima mia nell’Ades^[3] e non permetterai che il tuo Santo subisca la decomposizione. 28 Tu mi hai fatto conoscere le vie della vita. Tu mi riempirai di letizia con la tua presenza”^[4]. 29 Fratelli, si può ben dire liberamente riguardo al patriarca Davide che egli morì e fu sepolto; e la sua tomba è ancora al giorno d’oggi tra di noi. 30 Egli dunque, essendo profeta e sapendo che Dio gli aveva promesso con giuramento che sul suo trono avrebbe fatto sedere uno dei suoi discendenti, 31 previde la risurrezione di Cristo e ne parlò dicendo che non sarebbe stato lasciato nel soggiorno dei morti, e che la sua carne non avrebbe subìto la decomposizione^[5]. 32 Questo Gesù, Dio lo ha risuscitato; di ciò noi tutti siamo testimoni. 33 Egli dunque, essendo stato esaltato dalla destra di Dio e avendo ricevuto dal Padre lo Spirito Santo promesso, ha sparso quello che ora vedete e udite. 34 Davide infatti non è salito in cielo; eppure egli stesso dice: «Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: “Siedi alla mia destra, 35 finché io abbia posto i tuoi nemici come sgabello dei tuoi piedi”»^[6]. 36 Sappia dunque con certezza tutta la casa d’Israele che Dio ha costituito Signore e Cristo quel Gesù che voi avete crocifisso».

Le prime conversioni

37 Udite queste cose, essi furono compunti nel cuore e dissero a Pietro e agli altri apostoli: «Fratelli, che dobbiamo fare?» 38 E Pietro a loro: «Ravvedetevi e ciascuno di voi sia battezzato nel nome di Gesù Cristo, per il perdono dei vostri peccati, e voi riceverete il dono dello Spirito Santo. 39 Perché per voi è la promessa, per i vostri figli e per tutti quelli che sono lontani, per quanti il Signore, nostro Dio, ne chiamerà». 40 E con molte altre parole li scongiurava e li esortava, dicendo: «Salvatevi da questa perversa generazione». 41 Quelli che accettarono la sua parola furono battezzati; e in quel giorno furono aggiunte a loro circa tremila persone. 42 Ed erano perseveranti nell’ascoltare l’insegnamento degli apostoli e nella comunione fraterna, nel rompere il pane e nelle preghiere. 43 Ognuno era preso da timore; e molti prodigi e segni erano fatti dagli apostoli. 44 Tutti quelli che credevano stavano insieme e avevano ogni cosa in comune; 45 vendevano le proprietà e i beni e li distribuivano a tutti, secondo il bisogno di ciascuno. 46 E ogni giorno andavano assidui e concordi al tempio, rompevano il pane nelle case e prendevano il loro cibo insieme, con gioia e semplicità di cuore, 47 lodando Dio e godendo il favore di tutto il popolo. Il Signore aggiungeva al loro numero ogni giorno quelli che venivano salvati.
