1Und Mose ging hin und redete diese Worte zu ganz Israel,2und er sprach zu ihnen: Ich bin heute 120 Jahre alt; ich kann nicht mehr aus- und einziehen; auch hat der HERR zu mir gesagt: »Du sollst diesen Jordan nicht überschreiten!« (2Mo 7,7; 4Mo 27,17; 5Mo 3,27; 5Mo 34,7; Joh 7,33)3Der HERR, dein Gott, er selbst wird vor dir hinübergehen; er selbst wird diese Völker vor dir her vertilgen, dass du sie aus ihrem Besitz vertreibst; Josua, er geht vor dir hinüber, wie es der HERR gesagt hat. Gesetzeslesung alle sieben Jahre
9Und Mose schrieb dieses Gesetz auf und gab es den Priestern, den Söhnen Levis, welche die Bundeslade des HERRN trugen, und allen Ältesten von Israel. (4Mo 4,15; 5Mo 17,18; 5Mo 31,25; Jos 3,3; Jos 3,17; Mal 2,7)10Und Mose gebot ihnen und sprach: Nach Verlauf von sieben Jahren, zur Zeit des Erlassjahres, am Fest der Laubhütten, (3Mo 23,34; 5Mo 15,1)11wenn ganz Israel kommt, um vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, zu erscheinen an dem Ort, den er erwählen wird, sollst du dieses Gesetz vor ganz Israel lesen, vor ihren Ohren. (5Mo 16,15; Jos 8,34; 2Kön 23,2)12Versammle das Volk, Männer und Frauen und Kinder, auch deinen Fremdling, der in deinen Toren ist, damit sie es hören und lernen, damit sie den HERRN, euren Gott, fürchten und darauf achten, alle Worte dieses Gesetzes zu befolgen. (5Mo 4,10; 5Mo 29,10)13Und ihre Kinder, die es noch nicht kennen, sollen es auch hören, damit sie den HERRN, euren Gott, fürchten lernen alle Tage, die ihr in dem Land lebt, in das ihr über den Jordan zieht, um es in Besitz zu nehmen. Der Herr sagt den Abfall Israels voraus
14Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Siehe, deine Zeit ist nahe, da du sterben musst! Rufe Josua, und tretet in die Stiftshütte, damit ich ihn beauftrage! Und Mose ging hin mit Josua, und sie traten in die Stiftshütte. (4Mo 27,13; 4Mo 27,18; 5Mo 34,5)15Der HERR aber erschien in der Hütte in der Wolkensäule, und die Wolkensäule stand über dem Eingang der Hütte. (2Mo 33,9)16Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Siehe, du wirst dich zu deinen Vätern legen, und dieses Volk wird aufstehen und den fremden Göttern des Landes nachhuren, in dessen Mitte es hineinkommt; und es wird mich verlassen und meinen Bund brechen, den ich mit ihm gemacht habe. (2Mo 34,15; 5Mo 32,15; Ri 2,12; Ri 2,17; 2Kön 18,12; Hes 16,15)17So wird zu jener Zeit mein Zorn über es entbrennen, und ich werde es verlassen und mein Angesicht vor ihm verbergen, dass sie verzehrt werden; und viele Übel und Drangsale werden es treffen, und es wird an jenem Tag sagen: »Haben mich nicht alle diese Übel getroffen, weil mein Gott nicht in meiner Mitte ist?« (4Mo 14,42; 5Mo 32,20; Ri 6,13; 2Chr 15,2; Ps 81,13; Jes 59,2; Hes 39,23; Joe 2,27)18Ich aber werde zu jener Zeit mein Angesicht gänzlich verbergen um all des Bösen willen, das es getan hat, weil sie sich anderen Göttern zugewandt haben. (4Mo 6,24)19So schreibt euch nun dieses Lied auf, und du sollst es die Kinder Israels lehren; lege es in ihren Mund, damit mir dieses Lied ein Zeuge sei gegen die Kinder Israels. (5Mo 32,1; Jos 24,27; Offb 15,3)20Denn ich werde sie in das Land bringen, das ich ihren Vätern zugeschworen habe, in dem Milch und Honig fließt, und sie werden essen und satt und fett werden, und sie werden sich anderen Göttern zuwenden und ihnen dienen, und mich werden sie verachten und meinen Bund brechen. (Neh 9,26; Jer 31,32; Hos 6,7)21Und wenn sie dann viele Übel und Drangsale getroffen haben, soll dieses Lied gegen sie Zeugnis ablegen; denn es soll nicht vergessen werden im Mund ihrer Nachkommen; denn ich kenne ihre Gedanken, mit denen sie jetzt schon umgehen, ehe ich sie in das Land bringe, das ich [ihnen] zugeschworen habe! (5Mo 31,17; 5Mo 31,19; 1Chr 28,9; Ps 139,2; Hes 20,21; Hos 5,3; Am 5,25; Joh 2,24; Apg 20,29)22So schrieb Mose an jenem Tag dieses Lied auf und lehrte es die Kinder Israels. (5Mo 31,19)23Und er befahl Josua, dem Sohn Nuns, und sprach: Sei stark und mutig! Denn du sollst die Kinder Israels in das Land bringen, das ich ihnen zugeschworen habe, und ich will mit dir sein! (5Mo 31,7; 5Mo 31,14; Jos 1,6; Jos 1,9)24Als nun Mose damit fertig war, die Worte dieses Gesetzes vollständig in ein Buch zu schreiben, (5Mo 17,18; 5Mo 31,9)25da gebot er den Leviten, welche die Bundeslade des HERRN trugen, und sprach: (5Mo 31,9)26Nehmt das Buch dieses Gesetzes und legt es neben die Bundeslade des HERRN, eures Gottes, damit es dort ein Zeuge gegen dich sei. Siehe, noch [bis] heute, während ich [noch] unter euch lebe, seid ihr ungehorsam gegen den HERRN gewesen; wie viel mehr nach meinem Tod! (5Mo 9,6; 5Mo 31,21; Apg 20,29; 2Petr 1,12)28So versammelt nun vor mir alle Ältesten eurer Stämme und eure Vorsteher, und ich will diese Worte vor ihren Ohren reden und Himmel und Erde gegen sie als Zeugen bestellen. (5Mo 30,19; Jos 24,1)29Denn ich weiß, dass ihr nach meinem Tod gewiss verderblich handeln und von dem Weg abweichen werdet, den ich euch geboten habe; so wird euch am Ende der Tage dieses Unheil treffen, weil ihr tun werdet, was böse ist in den Augen des HERRN, indem ihr ihn durch die Werke eurer Hände erzürnen werdet. Die Verlesung des Gesetzes im Sabbatjahr
9Und Mose schrieb dies Gesetz und gab’s den Priestern, den Söhnen Levi, die die Lade des Bundes des HERRN trugen, und allen Ältesten Israels10und gebot ihnen und sprach: Jeweils nach sieben Jahren, zur Zeit des Erlassjahrs, am Laubhüttenfest, (5Mo 15,1; 5Mo 16,13)11wenn ganz Israel kommt, zu erscheinen vor dem Angesicht des HERRN, deines Gottes, an der Stätte, die er erwählen wird, sollst du dies Gesetz vor ganz Israel ausrufen lassen vor ihren Ohren.12Versammle das Volk, die Männer, Frauen und Kinder und den Fremdling, der in deinen Städten lebt, damit sie es hören und lernen und den HERRN, euren Gott, fürchten und alle Worte dieses Gesetzes halten und tun13und dass ihre Kinder, die es nicht kennen, es auch hören und lernen, den HERRN, euren Gott, zu fürchten alle Tage, die ihr in dem Lande lebt, in das ihr zieht über den Jordan, um es einzunehmen.
Gottes Befehl, das Lied des Mose aufzuschreiben
14Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Siehe, deine Zeit ist herbeigekommen, dass du sterben musst. Rufe Josua und tretet hin zur Stiftshütte, dass ich ihm Befehl gebe. Mose ging hin mit Josua, und sie traten hin zur Stiftshütte.15Der HERR aber erschien in der Hütte in einer Wolkensäule, und die Wolkensäule stand am Eingang des Zeltes. (2Mo 33,9)16Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Siehe, du wirst schlafen bei deinen Vätern, und dies Volk wird sich erheben und nachhuren den fremden Göttern des Landes, in das sie kommen, und wird mich verlassen und den Bund brechen, den ich mit ihm geschlossen habe.17Da wird mein Zorn entbrennen über sie zur selben Zeit, und ich werde sie verlassen und mein Antlitz vor ihnen verbergen, sodass sie völlig verzehrt werden. Und wenn sie dann viel Unglück und Angst treffen wird, werden sie sagen: Hat mich nicht dies Übel alles getroffen, weil mein Gott nicht mit mir ist?18Ich aber werde mein Antlitz verborgen halten zu der Zeit um all des Bösen willen, das sie getan haben, weil sie sich zu andern Göttern wandten.19So schreibt euch nun dies Lied auf und lehrt es die Israeliten und legt es in ihren Mund, dass mir das Lied ein Zeuge sei unter den Israeliten. (5Mo 32,1)20Denn ich will sie in das Land bringen, das ich ihren Vätern zu geben geschworen habe, darin Milch und Honig fließt. Denn ich weiß ihre Gedanken, mit denen sie schon jetzt umgehen, ehe ich sie in das Land bringe, wie ich geschworen habe. (Ps 139,2)22Also schrieb Mose dies Lied zur selben Zeit auf und lehrte es die Israeliten.23Und der Herr befahl Josua, dem Sohn Nuns, und sprach: Sei getrost und unverzagt, denn du sollst die Israeliten in das Land führen, wie ich ihnen geschworen habe, und ich will mit dir sein.
Die Aufbewahrung des Gesetzbuches
24Als nun Mose damit fertig war, die Worte dieses Gesetzes vollständig in ein Buch zu schreiben,25gebot er den Leviten, die die Lade des Bundes des HERRN trugen, und sprach:26Nehmt dieses Buch des Gesetzes und legt es neben die Lade des Bundes des HERRN, eures Gottes, dass es dort ein Zeuge sei wider dich. (Joh 5,45)27Denn ich kenne deinen Ungehorsam und deine Halsstarrigkeit. Siehe, jetzt schon, während ich noch bei euch lebe, seid ihr ungehorsam gewesen gegen den HERRN; wie viel mehr nach meinem Tode!
Aufforderung an Israel, das Lied des Mose zu hören
28Versammelt vor mir alle Ältesten eurer Stämme und eure Amtleute, dass ich diese Worte vor ihren Ohren rede und Himmel und Erde wider sie zu Zeugen nehme. (5Mo 32,1)29Denn ich weiß, dass ihr euch nach meinem Tode sehr versündigen werdet und von dem Wege abweichen, den ich euch geboten habe. So wird euch zuletzt das Unheil treffen, weil ihr tut, was böse ist in den Augen des HERRN, und ihn erzürnt durch eurer Hände Werk.30Und Mose trug vor den Ohren der ganzen Gemeinde Israel dies Lied bis zum letzten Wort vor:
1Mose trat vor ganz Israel hin und sprach diese Worte.2Er sagte zu ihnen: Ich bin jetzt hundertzwanzig Jahre alt. Ich kann nicht mehr in den Kampf ziehen. Auch hat der HERR zu mir gesagt: Du wirst den Jordan hier nicht überschreiten. (5Mo 1,37; 5Mo 20,2; 5Mo 34,7)3Der HERR, dein Gott, zieht selbst vor dir hinüber, er selbst vernichtet diese Völker bei deinem Angriff, sodass du ihren Besitz übernehmen kannst. Josua zieht vor dir hinüber, wie es der HERR zugesagt hat. (5Mo 9,3)4Der HERR wird an ihnen tun, was er an Sihon und Og, den Amoriterkönigen, die er vernichtete, und an ihrem Land getan hat. (4Mo 21,21; 5Mo 7,1)5Der HERR wird sie euch ausliefern: Dann sollt ihr an ihnen genau nach dem Gebot handeln, auf das ich euch verpflichtet habe. (5Mo 20,16)6Empfangt Vollmacht und Kraft: Fürchtet euch nicht und weicht nicht erschreckt zurück, wenn sie angreifen! Denn der HERR, dein Gott, er zieht mit dir. Er lässt dich nicht fallen und verlässt dich nicht. (5Mo 31,8; Hebr 13,5)7Mose rief Josua herbei und sagte vor den Augen ganz Israels zu ihm: Empfange Vollmacht und Kraft: Du sollst mit diesem Volk in das Land hineinziehen, von dem du weißt: Der HERR hat ihren Vätern geschworen, es ihnen zu geben. Du sollst es an sie als Erbbesitz verteilen.[1] (5Mo 1,8; 5Mo 3,28)8Der HERR selbst zieht vor dir her. Er ist mit dir. Er lässt dich nicht fallen und verlässt dich nicht. Du sollst dich nicht fürchten und keine Angst haben.
Verlesung des Gesetzes im Sabbatjahr
9Mose schrieb diese Weisung auf und übergab sie den Priestern, den Nachkommen Levis, die die Lade des Bundes des HERRN trugen, und allen Ältesten Israels. (5Mo 1,15; 5Mo 10,8; 5Mo 17,18; 5Mo 31,26)10Mose gebot ihnen: In jedem siebten Jahr, in einer der Festzeiten des Brachjahres, beim Laubhüttenfest, (5Mo 15,1; 5Mo 16,13)11wenn ganz Israel zusammenkommt, um an der Stätte, die der HERR erwählen wird, vor dem Angesicht des HERRN, deines Gottes, zu erscheinen, sollst du diese Weisung vor ganz Israel laut vortragen. (5Mo 12,14)12Versammle das Volk - die Männer und Frauen, Kinder und Greise, dazu die Fremden, die in deinen Stadtbereichen Wohnrecht haben -, damit sie zuhören und auswendig lernen und den HERRN, euren Gott, fürchten und darauf achten, dass sie alle Bestimmungen dieser Weisung halten! (5Mo 29,10)13Vor allem ihre Kinder, die das alles noch nicht kennen, sollen zuhören und lernen, den HERRN, euren Gott, zu fürchten. Das sollt ihr so lange tun, wie ihr in dem Land lebt, in das ihr jetzt über den Jordan hinüberzieht, um es in Besitz zu nehmen. (5Mo 4,10; 5Mo 12,1; 5Mo 32,46)
Erscheinung Gottes
14Der HERR sagte zu Mose: Sieh, deine Zeit ist gekommen: Du wirst sterben. Ruf Josua und tritt mit ihm in das Offenbarungszelt, damit ich ihn beauftragen kann. Mose und Josua gingen hin und traten in das Offenbarungszelt hinein. (2Mo 33,7)15Der HERR erschien ihnen am Zelt in einer Wolkensäule. Die Wolkensäule stand über dem Eingang des Zeltes.
Offenbarung des Moseliedes
16Und der HERR sagte zu Mose: Sieh, du wirst jetzt bald zu deinen Vätern gebettet werden. Dann wird dieses Volk sich erheben; man wird in seiner Mitte Unzucht treiben, indem man den fremden Göttern des Landes nachfolgt, in das es jetzt hineinzieht, es wird mich verlassen und meinen Bund brechen, den ich mit ihm geschlossen habe. (2Mo 34,15; 5Mo 29,24; Ri 2,17; Ri 8,27)17An jenem Tag wird mein Zorn gegen sie entbrennen. Ich werde sie verlassen und mein Angesicht vor ihnen verbergen. Dann wird dieses Volk verzehrt werden. Not und Zwang jeder Art werden es treffen. An jenem Tag wird es sich fragen: Hat mich diese Not nicht deshalb getroffen, weil mein Gott nicht mehr in meiner Mitte ist? (5Mo 32,20)18Aber ich werde an jenem Tag mein Angesicht nur noch mehr verbergen wegen all des Bösen, das dieses Volk getan hat; denn es hat sich anderen Göttern zugewandt.19Doch jetzt schreibt dieses Lied auf! Lehre es die Israeliten! Lass es sie auswendig lernen, damit dieses Lied mein Zeuge gegen die Israeliten werde! (5Mo 32,1)20Wenn ich dieses Volk in das Land geführt habe, das ich seinen Vätern mit einem Schwur versprochen habe, in das Land, wo Milch und Honig fließen, und wenn es gegessen hat und satt und fett geworden ist und sich anderen Göttern zugewandt hat, wenn sie ihnen gedient und mich verworfen haben und es so meinen Bund gebrochen hat, (5Mo 1,8; 5Mo 6,3; 5Mo 29,24; 5Mo 32,13)21dann wird, wenn Not und Zwang jeder Art es treffen, dieses Lied vor ihm als Zeuge aussagen; denn seine Nachkommen werden es nicht vergessen, sondern es auswendig wissen. Ich kenne seine Neigung, die sich schon heute regt, noch ehe ich es in das Land gebracht habe, das ich mit einem Schwur versprochen habe. (5Mo 31,26; 5Mo 32,23)22An jenem Tag schrieb Mose dieses Lied auf und lehrte es die Israeliten.
Josuas Einsetzung durch Gott
23Der HERR aber beauftragte Josua, den Sohn Nuns, und sagte: Empfange Vollmacht und Kraft: Du sollst die Israeliten in das Land führen, das ich ihnen mit einem Schwur versprochen habe. Ich werde bei dir sein. (5Mo 1,38)
Hinterlegung des Gesetzes
24Als Mose damit zu Ende war, den Text dieser Weisung in eine Urkunde einzutragen, ohne irgendetwas auszulassen,25befahl Mose den Leviten, die die Lade des Bundes des HERRN trugen:26Nehmt diese Urkunde der Weisung entgegen und legt sie neben die Lade des Bundes des HERRN, eures Gottes! Dort diene sie als Zeuge gegen dich. (5Mo 9,6; 5Mo 31,9; Joh 5,45)27Denn ich kenne deine Widersetzlichkeit und deine Hartnäckigkeit. Seht, schon jetzt, wo ich noch unter euch lebe, habt ihr euch dem HERRN widersetzt. Was wird erst nach meinem Tod geschehen?28Versammelt um mich alle Ältesten eurer Stämme und alle eure Listenführer, damit ich ihnen diesen Text vortragen und Himmel und Erde gegen sie als Zeugen anrufen kann! (5Mo 1,15; 5Mo 4,26; 5Mo 30,19)29Denn ich weiß: Nach meinem Tod werdet ihr ins Verderben laufen und von dem Weg abweichen, auf den ich euch verpflichtet habe. Dann, in künftigen Tagen, wird euch die Not begegnen, weil ihr tut, was in den Augen des HERRN böse ist, und weil ihr ihn durch euer Machwerk erzürnt. (5Mo 4,16; 5Mo 9,12; 5Mo 27,15)

Joshua Commissioned to Lead Israel
14And the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, the days approach when you must die. Call Joshua and present yourselves in the tent of meeting, that I may commission him.” And Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tent of meeting. (4Mo 27,13; 4Mo 27,19; 5Mo 34,5)15And the LORD appeared in the tent in a pillar of cloud. And the pillar of cloud stood over the entrance of the tent. (2Mo 33,9; 4Mo 12,5)16And the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers. Then this people will rise and whore after the foreign gods among them in the land that they are entering, and they will forsake me and break my covenant that I have made with them. (2Mo 34,15; 2Mo 34,16; 3Mo 20,5; 4Mo 15,39; 5Mo 31,14; 5Mo 32,15; Ri 2,12; Ri 2,20; Ri 10,6; Ri 10,13)17Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them and hide my face from them, and they will be devoured. The Song of Moses
30Then Moses spoke the words of this song until they were finished, in the ears of all the assembly of Israel:
1Then Moses went out and spoke these words to all Israel:2‘I am now a hundred and twenty years old and I am no longer able to lead you. The Lord has said to me, “You shall not cross the Jordan.”3The Lord your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua also will cross over ahead of you, as the Lord said.4And the Lord will do to them what he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, whom he destroyed along with their land.5The Lord will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you.6Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.’7Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, ‘Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.8The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.’
Public reading of the Law
9So Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the Levitical priests, who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.10Then Moses commanded them: ‘At the end of every seven years, in the year for cancelling debts, during the Festival of Tabernacles,11when all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God at the place he will choose, you shall read this law before them in their hearing.12Assemble the people – men, women and children, and the foreigners residing in your towns – so that they can listen and learn to fear the Lord your God and follow carefully all the words of this law.13Their children, who do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.’
Israel’s rebellion predicted
14The Lord said to Moses, ‘Now the day of your death is near. Call Joshua and present yourselves at the tent of meeting, where I will commission him.’ So Moses and Joshua came and presented themselves at the tent of meeting.15Then the Lord appeared at the tent in a pillar of cloud, and the cloud stood over the entrance to the tent.16And the Lord said to Moses: ‘You are going to rest with your ancestors, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.17And in that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and calamities will come on them, and in that day they will ask, “Have not these disasters come on us because our God is not with us?”18And I will certainly hide my face in that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.19‘Now write down this song and teach it to the Israelites and make them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them.20When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their ancestors, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant.21And when many disasters and calamities come on them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath.’22So Moses wrote down this song that day and taught it to the Israelites.23The Lord gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: ‘Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you.’24After Moses finished writing in a book the words of this law from beginning to end,25he gave this command to the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord:26‘Take this Book of the Law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God. There it will remain as a witness against you.27For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the Lord while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die!28Assemble before me all the elders of your tribes and all your officials, so that I can speak these words in their hearing and call the heavens and the earth to testify against them.29For I know that after my death you are sure to become utterly corrupt and to turn from the way I have commanded you. In days to come, disaster will fall on you because you will do evil in the sight of the Lord and arouse his anger by what your hands have made.’
