1Es wird aber geschehen, wenn alle diese Worte über dich kommen werden, der Segen und der Fluch, die ich dir vorgelegt habe, und du es dir zu Herzen nimmst unter all den Heidenvölkern, unter die dich der HERR, dein Gott, verstoßen hat, (5Mo 11,26; 5Mo 28,1; 5Mo 28,15; 5Mo 30,19)2und wenn du umkehrst zu dem HERRN, deinem Gott, und seiner Stimme gehorchst in allem, was ich dir heute gebiete, du und deine Kinder, von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele, (1Kön 8,48; Neh 1,9; Jes 55,7; Hes 18,28; Hos 3,5)3so wird der HERR, dein Gott, dein Geschick wenden und sich über dich erbarmen und wird dich wieder sammeln aus allen Völkern, wohin dich der HERR, dein Gott, zerstreut hat. (2Mo 34,7; Ps 85,2; Ps 147,2; Jer 31,10; Hes 34,13; Sach 8,7; Röm 11,23)4Und wenn du auch bis an das Ende des Himmels verstoßen wärst, so wird dich doch der HERR, dein Gott, von dort sammeln und dich von dort holen. (Neh 1,9; Ps 107,1)5Und der HERR, dein Gott, wird dich in das Land zurückbringen, das deine Väter besessen haben, und du wirst es in Besitz nehmen, und er wird dir Gutes tun und dich mehren, mehr als deine Väter. (Ps 19,8; Jes 45,19; Röm 10,8; 1Joh 5,3)12Es ist nicht im Himmel, dass du sagen müsstest: »Wer will für uns zum Himmel fahren und es uns holen und es uns hören lassen, dass wir es tun?« (Spr 30,4; Joh 3,13; Röm 10,6)13Es ist auch nicht jenseits des Meeres, dass du sagen müsstest: »Wer will für uns über das Meer fahren und es uns holen und es uns hören lassen, dass wir es tun?« (Röm 10,14)14Sondern das Wort ist sehr nahe bei dir, in deinem Mund und in deinem Herzen, sodass du es tun kannst. (Jer 12,2; Röm 10,8)
Die Wahl zwischen Leben und Tod, Segen und Fluch
15Siehe, ich habe dir heute das Leben und das Gute vorgelegt, den Tod und das Böse. (5Mo 11,26; 5Mo 30,1; 5Mo 30,9; Spr 8,32)16Was ich dir heute gebiete, ist, dass du den HERRN, deinen Gott, liebst und in seinen Wegen wandelst und seine Gebote, seine Satzungen und seine Rechtsbestimmungen hältst, damit du lebst und dich mehrst; und der HERR, dein Gott, wird dich segnen in dem Land, in das du ziehst, um es in Besitz zu nehmen. (5Mo 5,33; 5Mo 6,5; Joh 14,21)17Wenn sich aber dein Herz abwendet und du nicht gehorchst, sondern dich verführen lässt, andere Götter anzubeten und ihnen zu dienen, (5Mo 11,16)18so verkünde ich euch heute, dass ihr gewiss umkommen und nicht lange leben werdet in dem Land, in das du über den Jordan ziehst, damit du dorthin kommst [und] es in Besitz nimmst. 1Wenn nun dies alles über dich kommt, es sei der Segen oder der Fluch, die ich dir vorgelegt habe, und du es zu Herzen nimmst, wenn du unter den Heiden bist, unter die dich der HERR, dein Gott, verstoßen hat, (5Mo 28,1)2und du dich bekehrst zu dem HERRN, deinem Gott, dass du seiner Stimme gehorchst, du und deine Kinder, von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele in allem, was ich dir heute gebiete, (3Mo 26,40; 5Mo 4,30)3so wird der HERR, dein Gott, deine Gefangenschaft wenden und sich deiner erbarmen und wird dich wieder sammeln aus allen Völkern, unter die dich der HERR, dein Gott, verstreut hat. (Jer 29,14; Jer 32,37; Hes 16,53; Am 9,14)4Wenn du bis ans Ende des Himmels verstoßen wärst, so wird dich doch der HERR, dein Gott, von dort sammeln und dich von dort holen (5Mo 28,64; Neh 1,9)5und wird dich in das Land bringen, das deine Väter besessen haben, und du wirst es einnehmen, und er wird dir Gutes tun und dich zahlreicher machen, als deine Väter waren.6Und der HERR, dein Gott, wird dein Herz beschneiden und das Herz deiner Nachkommen, damit du den HERRN, deinen Gott, liebst von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele, auf dass du am Leben bleibst. 1Und wenn alle diese Worte über dich gekommen sind, der Segen und der Fluch, die ich dir vorgelegt habe, dann wirst du sie dir zu Herzen nehmen mitten unter den Völkern, unter die der HERR, dein Gott, dich versprengt hat, (5Mo 4,29; 5Mo 28,1; 5Mo 30,15; Jer 29,10; Jer 32,37)2und zum HERRN, deinem Gott, zurückkehren und auf seine Stimme hören in allem, wozu ich dich heute verpflichte, du und deine Kinder, mit ganzem Herzen und mit ganzer Seele, (5Mo 4,30)3und der HERR, dein Gott, wird dein Schicksal wenden. Er wird sich deiner erbarmen, sich dir zukehren und dich aus allen Völkern zusammenführen, unter die der HERR, dein Gott, dich verstreut hat. (5Mo 28,64)4Und wenn einige von dir bis ans Ende des Himmels versprengt sind, wird dich der HERR, dein Gott, von dort zusammenführen, von dort wird er dich holen. (Neh 1,9; Mt 24,31)5Und der HERR, dein Gott, wird dich in das Land, das deine Väter in Besitz genommen haben, zurückbringen. Du wirst es wieder in Besitz nehmen und er wird dich glücklicher und zahlreicher machen als deine Väter.6Der HERR, dein Gott, wird dein Herz und das Herz deiner Nachkommen beschneiden. Dann wirst du den HERRN, deinen Gott, mit ganzem Herzen und mit ganzer Seele lieben können, damit du Leben hast. (5Mo 10,16; 5Mo 11,1; Röm 2,28)7Alle diese Verwünschungen aber wird der HERR, dein Gott, über deine Feinde und Gegner verhängen, die dich verfolgt haben.8Du jedoch wirst umkehren, auf die Stimme des HERRN hören und alle seine Gebote, auf die ich dich heute verpflichte, halten9und der HERR, dein Gott, wird dir Gutes im Überfluss schenken, bei jeder Arbeit deiner Hände, bei der Frucht deines Leibes, bei der Frucht deines Viehs und bei der Frucht deines Ackers. Denn der HERR wird sich, wie er sich an deinen Vätern gefreut hat, auch an dir wieder freuen. Er wird dir Gutes tun. Das dem Menschen nahe Gebot
11Denn dieses Gebot, auf das ich dich heute verpflichte, geht nicht über deine Kraft und ist nicht fern von dir. (1Joh 5,3)12Es ist nicht im Himmel, sodass du sagen müsstest: Wer steigt für uns in den Himmel hinauf, holt es herunter und verkündet es uns, damit wir es halten können? (5Mo 4,7; 5Mo 6,6; Röm 2,15; Röm 10,6; Bar 3,29)13Es ist auch nicht jenseits des Meeres, sodass du sagen müsstest: Wer fährt für uns über das Meer, holt es herüber und verkündet es uns, damit wir es halten können?14Nein, das Wort ist ganz nah bei dir, es ist in deinem Mund und in deinem Herzen, du kannst es halten.
Segen und Fluch – Leben und Tod
15Siehe, hiermit lege ich dir heute das Leben und das Glück, den Tod und das Unglück vor, nämlich so: (5Mo 4,1; 5Mo 32,47; Hes 18,1; Sir 15,16)16Ich selbst verpflichte dich heute, den HERRN, deinen Gott, zu lieben, auf seinen Wegen zu gehen und seine Gebote, Satzungen und Rechtsentscheide zu bewahren, du aber lebst und wirst zahlreich und der HERR, dein Gott, segnet dich in dem Land, in das du hineinziehst, um es in Besitz zu nehmen.[1] (5Mo 11,1; 5Mo 28,1)17Wenn sich aber dein Herz abwendet und nicht hört, wenn du dich verführen lässt, dich vor anderen Göttern niederwirfst und ihnen dienst - (5Mo 28,15)18heute erkläre ich euch: Dann werdet ihr ausgetilgt werden; ihr werdet nicht lange in dem Land leben, in das du jetzt über den Jordan hinüberziehst, um hineinzuziehen und es in Besitz zu nehmen.19Den Himmel und die Erde rufe ich heute als Zeugen gegen euch an. Leben und Tod lege ich dir vor, Segen und Fluch. Wähle also das Leben, damit du lebst, du und deine Nachkommen. The Choice of Life and Death
11“For this commandment that I command you today is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. (Jes 45,19; Jes 48,16)12It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ (Röm 10,6)13Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’14But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.15“See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. (5Mo 11,26; 5Mo 32,47)16If you obey the commandments of the LORD your God[1] that I command you today, by loving the LORD your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules,[2] then you shall live and multiply, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. The offer of life or death
11Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.12It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, ‘Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so that we may obey it?’13Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so that we may obey it?’14No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so that you may obey it.15See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.16For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.17But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,18I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.19This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live20and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.
