1 Al direttore del coro. Di Davide. Salmo.

(Sal 22,20; Sal 25,16; Sal 38,23; Sal 142,7; 1P 5,7)

1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. (Sal 27,14; Sal 37,7; Sal 39,12)2 He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. (Sal 27,5; Sal 37,23; Sal 69,2; Sal 69,14; Ger 38,6)3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord. (De 13,11; Sal 33,3; Sal 52,6; Sal 64,8)4 Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie! (Le 19,4; De 29,18; Giob 23,11; Sal 2,12; Sal 101,3; Sal 125,5; Os 3,1)5 You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. (Eso 15,11; Sal 9,1; Sal 71,15; Sal 92,5; Sal 139,17; Sal 139,18; Is 55,8)6 In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear.[1] Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required. (1Sam 15,22; Giob 33,16; Sal 51,16; Prov 21,3; Eb 10,5)7 Then I said, “Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me: (Lu 24,44)8 I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.” (Sal 37,31; Sal 119,16; Sal 119,24; Sal 119,35; Sal 119,92; Giov 4,34)9 I have told the glad news of deliverance[2] in the great congregation; behold, I have not restrained my lips, as you know, O Lord. (Gios 22,22; Sal 22,25; Sal 119,13; At 20,20; At 20,27)10 I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation.11 As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me! (Sal 36,5; Sal 57,3; Sal 61,7; Prov 20,28)12 For evils have encompassed me beyond number; my iniquities have overtaken me, and I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head; my heart fails me. (Sal 38,4; Sal 38,10; Sal 69,4; Sal 73,26; Sal 116,3)13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me! (Sal 22,19; Sal 22,20; Sal 38,22; Sal 70,1; Sal 71,12; Sal 141,1)14 Let those be put to shame and disappointed altogether who seek to snatch away my life; let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt! (Sal 6,10; Sal 35,4; Sal 35,26; Sal 71,13)15 Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me, “Aha, Aha!” (Sal 35,21; Sal 35,25; Sal 70,3)16 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the Lord!” (Sal 35,27)17 As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God! (Sal 86,1; Sal 109,22; 1P 5,7)

King James Version

1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it , and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.5 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them , they are more than can be numbered.6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
