1 Gott segnete Noah und seine Söhne und sagte zu ihnen: »Seid fruchtbar, vermehrt euch und bevölkert die Erde! 2 Alle Tiere werden sich vor euch fürchten müssen: Landtiere, Vögel, Kriechtiere und Fische. Denn ich gebe sie in eure Hand. 3 ´Von jetzt an` dürft ihr neben den Pflanzen ´auch das Fleisch` von all diesen Tieren^[1] essen. 4 Esst aber kein Fleisch, in dem noch Blut ist. Denn im Blut ist das Leben.^[2] (3Mo 17,10; 5Mo 12,23) 5 Euer eigenes Blut darf auf keinen Fall vergossen werden. Wer dies tut, den ziehe ich zur Verantwortung; das gilt für Tiere genauso wie für Menschen. Wenn jemand seinen Mitmenschen tötet, dann fordere ich Rechenschaft von ihm. 6 Wer das Blut eines Menschen vergießt, dessen Blut soll durch Menschen vergossen werden.^[3] Denn ich habe euch Menschen als mein Ebenbild geschaffen.^[4] 7 Seid also fruchtbar und vermehrt euch. Breitet euch aus und bevölkert die Erde.« 8 Weiter sagte Gott zu Noah und seinen Söhnen: 9 »Ich schließe jetzt einen Bund mit euch, euren Nachkommen 10 und allen Tieren, die bei euch in der Arche waren und künftig mit euch auf der Erde leben, den Vögeln, den Nutztieren und den wilden Tieren. 11 Ich gebe euch mein Versprechen, dass^[5] ich nie wieder alles Leben in einer Wasserflut auslöschen werde. Nie wieder soll die Erde durch eine Flutkatastrophe vernichtet werden.« 12 Weiter sagte Gott: »Als Zeichen dafür, dass ich meinen Bund mit euch, euren Nachkommen und allen anderen Lebewesen auf der Erde für immer einhalten werde, 13 setze ich meinen Bogen in die Wolken. Er soll an den Bund zwischen mir und der Welt erinnern. 14 Wenn ich Regenwolken über der Erde aufziehen lasse, dann wird der Bogen zu sehen sein^[6], 15 und ich werde an die Bundeszusage denken, die ich euch und allen Tieren^[7] gegeben habe: Nie wieder soll es eine Wasserflut geben, die alles Leben vernichtet. 16 Der Regenbogen wird in den Wolken stehen, und wenn ich ihn sehe, werde ich an den ewigen Bund denken, den ich mit allen Lebewesen auf der Erde geschlossen habe^[8]. 17 Dieser Bogen«, sagte Gott zu Noah, »ist das Zeichen für meinen Bund mit allen Menschen und Tieren^[9] auf der Welt.«

Noah verflucht Ham und segnet Sem und Jafet

18 Zusammen mit Noah hatten seine drei Söhne Sem, Ham und Jafet die Arche verlassen. Ham war der Vater Kanaans. 19 Von diesen drei Söhnen Noahs stammen alle Menschen ab, die jetzt über die ganze Erde verstreut leben. 20 Noah betrieb Ackerbau und war der erste, der einen Weinberg anlegte^[10]. 21 ´Eines Tages` trank er so viel Wein, dass er betrunken wurde und nackt in seinem Zelt lag. 22 Ham, der Vater Kanaans, entdeckte ihn. ´Er ließ ihn` nackt daliegen und ging ´sogar` zu seinen Brüdern, um es ihnen zu erzählen. 23 Da nahmen Sem und Jafet ein Obergewand, legten es über ihre Schultern, gingen rückwärts ´ins Zelt` und deckten ihren Vater damit zu. Dabei wandten sie ihr Gesicht ab, damit sie seinen entblößten Körper nicht sahen. 24 Als Noah aus seinem Rausch aufwachte und erfuhr, was sein jüngster Sohn Ham^[11] ihm angetan hatte, (1Mo 10,21) 25 rief er: »Verflucht sei Kanaan! Er soll seinen Brüdern dienen und ihr niedrigster Knecht sein!« 26 Noah fuhr fort: »Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott Sems! Kanaan soll Sems Knecht sein. 27 Gott gebe Jafet Raum^[12], ´damit er sich ausbreiten kann`. Sogar in Sems Gebiet^[13] soll er wohnen, und Kanaan soll auch Jafets Knecht sein.« 28 Nach der Flut lebte Noah noch 350 Jahre; 29 er starb im Alter von 950 Jahren.

Gottes Bund mit Noah

7 Ihr aber, seid fruchtbar und mehrt euch und breitet euch aus auf der Erde, dass ihr zahlreich werdet darauf! 12 Und Gott sprach: Dies ist das Zeichen des Bundes, den ich festsetze auf ewige Geschlechter hin zwischen mir und euch und allen lebendigen Wesen, die bei euch sind: (1Mo 9,17; 1Mo 17,11; Lk 22,19) 13 Meinen Bogen setze ich in die Wolken, der soll ein Zeichen des Bundes sein zwischen mir und der Erde. Noahs Fluch und Segen über seine Söhne

18 Die Söhne Noahs aber, welche die Arche verließen, waren Sem, Ham und Japhet; und Ham ist der Vater Kanaans. (1Mo 7,13; 1Mo 10,1) 19 Von diesen drei Söhnen Noahs wurde die ganze Erde bevölkert. (Ps 144,15; Röm 9,5) 27 Gott breite Japhet aus und lasse ihn wohnen in den Zelten Sems, und Kanaan sei sein Knecht!« 28 Noah aber lebte nach der Sintflut noch 350 Jahre lang; (1Mo 7,6; 1Mo 8,13) 29 und die ganze Lebenszeit Noahs betrug 950 Jahre, und er starb.

God’s covenant with Noah

1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. 2 The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands. 3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. 4 ‘But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being. 6 ‘Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind. 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.’ 8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 ‘I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you – the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you – every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.’ 12 And God said, ‘This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.’ 17 So God said to Noah, ‘This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.’

The sons of Noah

18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) 19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth. 20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded^[1] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backwards and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked. 24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said, ‘Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.’ 26 He also said, ‘Praise be to the Lord, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. 27 May God extend Japheth’s^[2] territory; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.’ 28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29 Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.
