(1Mo 2,4)2Jafets Söhne hießen Gomer, Magog, Madai, Jawan, Tubal, Meschech und Tiras.3Von Gomer stammen Aschkenas, Rifat und Togarma ab,4und von Jawan: Elischa, Tarschisch, die Kittäer und die Rodaniter[2]. (1Chr 1,7)5Jawans Nachkommen[3] verteilten sich über verschiedene Inseln und Küstenländer[4]. ´Sie besiedelten` jeweils eigene Gebiete und ´bildeten` eigene Sippen und Völker mit eigenen Sprachen.[5]6Hams Söhne hießen Kusch, Mizrajim, Put und Kanaan.[6]7Von Kusch stammen Seba, Hawila, Sabta, Ragma und Sabtecha ab; von Ragma: Saba und Dedan.8Kusch hatte noch einen Sohn mit Namen Nimrod. Nimrod war der erste, der ein großes Reich gründete[7].9Er war auch ein gewaltiger Jäger[8]; darum sagt man bis heute: » ´Dieser Mensch ist` ein gewaltiger Jäger vor dem HERRN wie Nimrod.«10Den Ausgangspunkt seines Königreiches bildeten ´die Städte` Babylon, Erech, Akkad und Kalne im Land Schinar[9].11Von dort aus zog Nimrod weiter nach Assur und erbaute Ninive, Rehobot-Ir, Kelach12und Resen, das zwischen Ninive und Kelach liegt. Ninive ist die ´bekannte` große Stadt.13Von Mizrajim stammen die Luditer, die Anamiter, die Lehabiter, die Naftuhiter,14die Patrositer, die Kasluhiter und die Kaftoriter ab. Die Kasluhiter sind die Vorfahren der Philister.[10]15Kanaans erstgeborener Sohn war Sidon. Außerdem ´stammen von ihm ab`: die Hetiter[11],16die Jebusiter, die Amoriter, die Girgaschiter,17die Hiwiter, die Arkiter, die Siniter,18die Arwaditer, die Zemariter und die Hamatiter. Die kanaanitischen Sippen breiteten sich aus,19bis ihr Gebiet von Sidon ´südwärts` bis nach Gerar und Gaza und ´vom Mittelmeer ostwärts` bis nach Sodom, Gomorra, Adma, Zebojim und Lescha reichte.20Diese alle sind Nachkommen Hams, ´aufgelistet` nach ihren Sippen, Sprachen, Gebieten und Völkern.21Auch Sem, der älteste Bruder Jafets[12], hatte ´mehrere` Söhne. ´Unter anderem` stammen von ihm Eber und dessen Nachkommen ab. (1Mo 9,24)22Sems Söhne hießen Elam, Assur, Arpachschad, Lud und Aram.23Von Aram stammen Uz, Hul, Geter und Masch ab.24Arpachschad war der Vater von Schelach, Schelach der Vater von Eber.25Eber hatte zwei Söhne. Der eine hieß Peleg (»Teilung«), denn zu seiner Zeit verteilte sich die Menschheit über die Erde[13]. Der andere hieß Joktan. (1Mo 11,1)26Von Joktan stammen Almodad, Schelef, Hazarmawet, Jerach,27Hadoram, Usal, Dikla,28Obal, Abimaël, Saba,29Ofir, Hawila und Jobab. Sie alle sind Nachkommen Joktans.30Ihr Gebiet erstreckt sich von Mescha über Sefar bis an das Gebirge im Osten.31Diese alle sind Nachkommen Sems, ´aufgelistet` nach ihren Sippen, Sprachen, Gebieten und Völkern.32Alle in diesen Ahnentafeln aufgeführten Sippen sind Nachkommen von Noahs Söhnen. Sie wurden nach der großen Flut zu Völkern und breiteten sich über die ganze Erde aus.

The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.8Cush was the father[3] of Nimrod, who became a mighty warrior on the earth.9He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; that is why it is said, ‘Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.’10The first centres of his kingdom were Babylon, Uruk, Akkad and Kalneh, in[4] Shinar.[5]11From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir,[6] Calah12and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah – which is the great city.13Egypt was the father of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites,14Pathrusites, Kasluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites.15Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn,[7] and of the Hittites,16Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,17Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,18Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. (Later the Canaanite clans scattered19and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon towards Gerar as far as Gaza, and then towards Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, as far as Lasha.)20These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.
The Semites
21Sons were also born to Shem, whose elder brother was[8] Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.22The sons of Shem: Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram.23The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshek.[9] (1Chr 1,17)24Arphaxad was the father of[10] Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber.25Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg,[11] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.26Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,28Obal, Abimael, Sheba,29Ophir, Havilah and Jobab.
