1 وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمْ صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ طَاعَةً تَامَّةً، حِرْصاً مِنْكُمْ عَلَى تَنْفِيذِ جَمِيعِ وَصَايَاهُ الَّتِي أُوصِيكُمْ بِها الْيَوْمَ، فَإِنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ يَجْعَلُكُمْ أَسْمَى مِنْ جَمِيعِ أُمَمِ الأَرْضِ. 

2 وَإذَا سَمِعْتُمْ لِصَوْتِ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ فَإِنَّ جَمِيعَ هَذِهِ الْبَرَكَاتِ تَنْسَكِبُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَتُلازِمُكُمْ. 

3 تَكُونُونَ مُبَارَكِينَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ وَمُبَارَكِينَ فِي الْحُقُولِ. 

4 كَمَا تَتَبَارَكُ ذُرِّيَّتُكُمْ، وَغَلّاتُ أَرْضِكُمْ، وَنِتَاجُ بَهَائِمِكُمْ وَبَقَرِكُمْ وَنِعَاجِكُمْ. 

5 وَتَتَبَارَكُ أَيْضاً فَوَاكِهُ سِلالِكُمْ وَخُبْزُ مَعَاجِنِكُمْ. 

6 وَتَكُونُونَ مُبَارَكِينَ فِي دُخُولِكُمْ وَخُرُوجِكُمْ 

7 وَيَهْزِمُ الرَّبُّ أَمَامَكُمْ أَعْدَاءَكُمُ الْقَائِمِينَ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَيُقْبِلُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي طَرِيقٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، وَلَكِنَّهُمْ يُوَلُّونَ الأَدْبَارَ أَمَامَكُمْ فِي سَبْعِ طُرُقٍ. 

8 يَأْمُرُ الرَّبُّ لَكُمْ بِالْبَرَكَةِ، فَتَمْتَلِئُ خَزَائِنُكُمْ. وَيُبَارِكُ كُلَّ مَا تُنْتِجُهُ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَغَلّاتِ أَرْضِكُمُ الَّتِي يَهَبُهَا لَكُمْ. 

9 وَإذَا حَفِظْتُمْ وَصَايَاهُ وَسَلَكْتُمْ فِي سُبُلِهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَجْعَلُكُمْ لِنَفْسِهِ شَعْباً مُقَدَّساً كَمَا حَلَفَ لَكُمْ، 

10 فَتُدْرِكُ جَمِيعُ شُعُوبِ الأَرْضِ أَنَّ اسْمَ الرَّبِّ قَدْ حَلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ، وَيَخَافُونَكُمْ. 

11 وَيَزِيدُكُمُ الرَّبُّ وَفْرَةً فَيُكَثِّرُ مِنْ أَبْنَائِكُمْ وَنِتَاجِ بَهَائِمِكُمْ وَمِنْ غَلّاتِ أَرْضِكُمُ الَّتِي حَلَفَ لِآبَائِكُمْ أَنْ يَهَبَهَا لَكُمْ. 

12 وَيَفْتَحُ لَكُمُ الرَّبُّ كُنُوزَ سَمَائِهِ الصَّالِحَةَ، فَيُمْطِرُ عَلَى أَرْضِكُمْ فِي مَوَاسِمِهَا، وَيُبَارِكُ كُلَّ مَا تُنْتِجُهُ أَيْدِيكُمْ، فَتُقْرِضُونَ أُمَماً كَثِيرَةً وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَقْتَرِضُونَ. 

13 وَإذَا أَطَعْتُمْ وَصَايَا الرَّبِّ الَّتِي أَنَا آمُرُكُمْ بِها الْيَوْمَ لِتَحْفَظُوهَا وَتَعْمَلُوا بِها، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْعَلُكُمْ رُؤُوساً لَا أَذْنَاباً، مُتَسَامِينَ دَائِماً، وَلا يُدْرِكُكُمُ انْحِطَاطٌ أَبَداً. 

14 لَا تَنْحَرِفُوا يَمِيناً أَوْ شِمَالاً عَنْ جَمِيعِ هَذِهِ الشَّرَائِعِ الَّتِي أَنَا أُوصِيكُمْ بِها الْيَوْمَ، لِكَيْ لَا تَغْوُوا وَرَاءَ آلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى لِتَعْبُدُوهَا. 

لعنات العصيان

15 وَلَكِنْ إِنْ عَصَيْتُمْ صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ وَلَمْ تَحْرِصُوا عَلَى الْعَمَلِ بِجَمِيعِ وَصَايَاهُ وَفَرَائِضِهِ الَّتِي أَنَا آمُرُكُمُ الْيَوْمَ بِها، فَإِنَّ جَمِيعَ هَذِهِ اللَّعْنَاتِ تَحِلُّ بِكُمْ وَتُلازِمُكُمْ. 

16 تَكُونُونَ مَلْعُونِينَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ وَمَلْعُونِينَ فِي الْحُقُولِ. 

17 وَتَكُونُ سِلالُكُمْ وَمَعَاجِنُكُمْ مَلْعُونَةً. 

18 وَتَحِلُّ اللَّعْنَةُ بِأَبْنَائِكُمْ وَغَلّاتِ أَرْضِكُمْ وَنِتَاجِ بَقَرِكُمْ وَنِعَاجِكُمْ، 

19 وَتَكُونُونَ مَلْعُونِينَ فِي ذِهَابِكُمْ وَإِيَابِكُمْ، 

20 وَيَصُبُّ الرَّبُّ عَلَيْكُمُ اللَّعْنَةَ وَالْفَوْضَى وَالْفَشَلَ فِي كُلِّ مَا تُنْتِجُهُ أَيْدِيكُمْ، حَتَّى تَهْلِكُوا وَتَفْنَوْا سَرِيعاً لِسُوءِ أَفْعَالِكُمْ، إِذْ تَرَكْتُمُونِي. 

21 وَيَتَفَشَّى بَيْنَكُمُ الْوَبَاءُ حَتَّى يُبِيدَكُمْ عَنِ الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ مَاضُونَ إِلَيْهَا لامْتِلاكِهَا، 

22 وَيَضْرِبُكُمُ الرَّبُّ بِالسُّلِّ وَالْحُمَّى وَالرَّعْشَةِ وَالالْتِهَابِ وَالْجَفَافِ وَاللَّفْحِ وَالذُّبُولِ، فَتُلازِمُكُمْ حَتَّى تَفْنَوْا. 

23 وَتُصْبِحُ السَّمَاءُ الَّتِي فَوْقَكُمْ كَالنُّحَاسِ وَالأَرْضُ تَحْتَكُمْ كَالْحَدِيدِ. 

24 وَيُحَوِّلُ الرَّبُّ مَطَرَ أَرْضِكُمْ إِلَى غُبَارٍ وَعَوَاصِفَ تُرَابِيَّةٍ تَنْهَمِرُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ حَتَّى تَهْلِكُوا. 

25 وَيَهْزِمُكُمُ الرَّبُّ أَمَامَ أَعْدَائِكُمْ فَتُقْبِلُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي طَرِيقٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَتُوَلُّونَ الأَدْبَارَ أَمَامَهُمْ مُتَفَرِّقِينَ فِي سَبْعِ طُرُقٍ، وَتُصْبِحُونَ عِبْرَةً لِجَمِيعِ مَمَالِكِ الأَرْضِ. 

26 وَتَكُونُ جُثَثُكُمْ طَعَاماً لِجَمِيعِ طُيُورِ السَّمَاءِ وَوُحُوشِ الأَرْضِ وَلا يَطْرُدُهَا أَحَدٌ. 

27 وَيُصِيبُكُمُ الرَّبُّ بِدَاءِ قُرْحَةِ مِصْرَ وَبِالْبَوَاسِيرِ وَالْجَرَبِ وَالْحِكَّةِ، وَلا تَجِدُونَ لَهَا عِلاجاً. 

28 وَيَبْتَلِيكُمُ الرَّبُّ بِالْجُنُونِ وَالْعَمَى وَارْتِبَاكِ الْفِكْرِ، 

29 فَتَتَحَسَّسُونَ طُرُقَكُمْ فِي الظُّهْرِ كَمَا يَتَحَسَّسُ الأَعْمَى طَرِيقَهُ فِي الظَّلامِ، وَتَبُوءُ طُرُقُكُمْ بِالإِخْفَاقِ، وَلا تَكُونُونَ إِلّا مَظْلُومِينَ مَغْصُوبِينَ كُلَّ الأَيَّامِ، وَلَيْسَ مِنْ مُنْقِذٍ. 

30 يَخْطُبُ أَحَدُكُمُ امْرَأَةً وَلَكِنَّ آخَرَ يَتَزَوَّجُهَا وَيُضَاجِعُهَا. تَبْنِي بَيْتاً وَلا تَسْكُنُ فِيهِ، وَتَغْرِسُ كَرْماً وَلا تَجْنِيهِ. 

31 يُذْبَحُ ثَوْرُكَ أَمَامَ عَيْنَيْكَ وَلا تَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ، وَيُغْتَصَبُ حِمَارُكَ عَلَى مَرْأَىً مِنْكَ وَلا يُرَدُّ إِلَيْكَ، وَيَسْتَوْلِي أَعْدَاؤُكَ عَلَى مَاشِيَتِكَ وَلَيْسَ مِنْ مُنْقِذٍ. 

32 يُسَاقُ أَوْلادُكَ وَبَنَاتُكَ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ أُخْرَى وَعَيْنَاكَ تُرَاقِبَانِهِمْ طَوَالَ النَّهَارِ، حَتَّى تَكِلّا، وَمَا فِي يَدِكَ حِيلَةٌ. 

33 مَحْصُولُ أَرْضِكَ وَثَمَرُ تَعَبِكَ يَأْكُلُهُ شَعْبٌ غَرِيبٌ عَنْكَ، وَلا تَكُونُ سِوَى مَظْلُومٍ مَسْحُوقٍ دَائِماً. 

34 وَيُصِيبُكَ الْجُنُونُ مِنْ هَوْلِ مَا تَرَى. 

35 وَيَبْتَلِيكَ الرَّبُّ بِقُرُوحٍ خَبِيثَةٍ تُغَطِّي الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ وَالسَّاقَيْنِ، حَتَّى لَا تَجِدَ لَهَا شِفَاءً مِنْ قِمَّةِ الرَّأْسِ إِلَى أَخْمَصِ الْقَدَمِ. 

36 يَنْفِيكُمُ الرَّبُّ أَنْتُمْ وَمَلِكَكُمُ الَّذِي تَخْتَارُونَهُ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ لَا تَعْرِفُونَهَا أَنْتُمْ وَلا آبَاؤُكُمْ، حَيْثُ تَعْبُدُونَ هُنَاكَ آلِهَةً أُخْرَى مِنْ خَشَبٍ وَحَجَرٍ، 

37 وَتُصْبِحُونَ مَثَارَ دَهْشَةٍ وَسُخْرِيَةٍ وَعِبْرَةٍ فِي نَظَرِ جَمِيعِ الشُّعُوبِ الَّتِي يَنْفِيكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَيْهِمْ 

38 تَبْذُرُونَ كَثِيراً مِنَ الْبِذَارِ فِي الْحُقُولِ، وَلا تَحْصُدُونَ إِلّا الْقَلِيلَ، لأَنَّ الْجَرَادَ يَلْتَهِمُهُ. 

39 تَكْدَحُونَ فِي غَرْسِ كُرُومٍ وَمِنْ خَمْرِهَا لَا تَشْرَبُونَ، وَمِنْ ثَمَرِهَا لَا تَجْنُونَ، لأَنَّ الدُّودَ يَنْخَرُهَا. 

40 تَكْتَظُّ أَرَاضِيكُمْ بِأَشْجَارِ الزَّيْتُونِ، وَلَكِنْ مِنْ زَيْتِهَا لَا تَدَّهِنُونَ، لأَنَّ زَيْتُونَكُمْ يَنْتَثِرُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ قَبْلَ نُضْجِهِ. 

41 تُنْجِبُونَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ وَلا يَكُونُونَ لَكُمْ، لأَنَّهُمْ يُسْبَوْنَ. 

42 تَلْتَهِمُ أَسْرَابُ الْجَرَادِ أَشْجَارَكُمْ وَغَلّاتِ أَرْضِكُمْ. 

43 يَعْظُمُ شَأْنُ الْغُرَبَاءِ الْمُقِيمِينَ بَيْنَكُمْ، وَيَتَفَاقَمُ انْحِطَاطُ شَأْنِكُمْ. 

44 هُمْ يُقْرِضُونَكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تُقْرِضُونَهُمْ، وَهُمْ يَكُونُونَ رَأْساً وَأَنْتُمْ تَكُونُونَ ذَنَباً، 

45 وَتَحِلُّ بِكُمْ هَذِهِ اللَّعْنَاتُ وَتُلازِمُكُمْ وَتُلاحِقُكُمْ حَتَّى تَهْلِكُوا، لأَنَّكُمْ لَمْ تُطِيعُوا صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ لِتَحْفَظُوا وَصَايَاهُ وَفَرَائِضَهُ الَّتِي أَمَرَكُمْ بِها، 

46 فَتَكُونُ فِيكُمْ وَفِي ذُرِّيَّتِكُمْ عِبْرَةً وَنَذِيراً إِلَى الأَبَدِ. 

47 وَلأَنَّكُمْ لَمْ تَعْبُدُوا الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ بِفَرَحٍ وَغِبْطَةٍ فِي زَمَنِ الازْدِهَارِ وَالْوَفْرَةِ، 

48 فَإِنَّكُمْ تُصْبِحُونَ عَبِيداً لأَعْدَائِكُمُ الَّذِينَ يُرْسِلُهُمُ الرَّبُّ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي أَحْوَالِ الْجُوعِ وَالْعَطَشِ وَالْعُرْيِ وَالْفَاقَةِ، وَيَضَعُ نِيرَ حَدِيدٍ عَلَى أَعْنَاقِكُمْ حَتَّى يُهْلِكَكُمْ. 

49 وَيَجْلِبُ الرَّبُّ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ بَعِيدٍ، مِنْ أَقْصَى الأَرْضِ، أُمَّةً لَا تَفْهَمُونَ لُغَتَهَا، فَتَنْقَضُّ عَلَيْكُمْ كَالنَّسْرِ. 

50 أُمَّةً يُثِيرُ مَنْظَرُهَا الرُّعْبَ، لَا تَهَابُ الشَّيْخَ وَلا تَرْأَفُ بِالطِّفْلِ، 

51 فَتَسْتَوْلِي عَلَى نِتَاجِ بَهَائِمِكُمْ، وَتَلْتَهِمُ غَلّاتِ أَرْضِكُمْ حَتَّى تَفْنَوْا، وَلا تُبْقِي لَكُمْ قَمْحاً وَلا خَمْراً وَلا زَيْتاً وَلا نِتَاجَ بَقَرِكُمْ وَنِعَاجِكُمْ حَتَّى تُهْلِكَكُمْ. 

52 وَتُحَاصِرُكُمْ فِي جَمِيعِ مُدُنِكُمْ حَتَّى تَتَهَدَّمَ أَسْوَارُكُمُ الشَّامِخَةُ الْحَصِينَةُ الَّتِي وَثِقْتُمْ بِمَنَاعَتِهَا فِي كُلِّ مُدُنِكُمْ. فَتُحَاصِرُكُمْ فِي جَمِيعِ مُدُنِكُمْ فِي كُلِّ أَرْضِكُمُ الَّتِي يَهَبُهَا الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ لَكُمْ. 

53 فَتَأْكُلُونَ فِي أَثْنَاءِ الْحِصَارِ وَالضِّيقَةِ الَّتِي يُضَايِقُكُمْ بِها عَدُوُّكُمْ ثِمَارَ بُطُونِكُمْ، لَحْمَ أَبْنَائِكُمْ وَبَنَاتِكُمُ الَّذِينَ رَزَقَكُمْ بِهِمِ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ. 

54 فَيَقْسُو قَلْبُ أَكْثَرِكُمْ رِقَّةً وَرَأْفَةً عَلَى أَخِيهِ وَامْرَأَتِهِ الَّتِي فِي حِضْنِهِ وَسَائِرِ أَبْنَائِهِ الأَحْيَاءِ. 

55 فَلا يُعْطِي أَحَدَهُمْ مِنْ لَحْمِ أَبْنَائِهِ، الَّذِي يَأْكُلُهُ، لأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ لَدَيْهِ شَيْءٌ سِوَاهُ فِي الْحِصَارِ وَالضِّيقَةِ الَّتِي يُضَايِقُكُمْ بِها عَدُوُّكُمْ فِي جَمِيعِ مُدُنِكُمْ. 

56 وَكَذَلِكَ فَإِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النِّسَاءِ رِقَّةً وَرَأْفَةً، وَالَّتِي لِنُعُومَتِهَا وَتَرَفُّهِهَا لَا تَجْرُؤُ عَلَى لَمْسِ الأَرْضِ بِبَاطِنِ قَدَمِهَا، تَبْخَلُ عَلَى زَوْجِهَا رَجُلِ حِضْنِهَا وَعَلَى ابْنِهَا وَابْنَتِهَا 

57 بِمَشِيمَتِهَا السَّاقِطَةِ مِنْهَا، وَبِأَوْلادِهَا الَّذِينَ تَلِدُهُمْ، لأَنَّهَا تَنْوِي أَنْ تَأْكُلَهُمْ سِرّاً فِي أَثْنَاءِ الْحِصَارِ، فِي الضِّيقَةِ الَّتِي يُضَايِقُكُمْ بِها عَدُوُّكُمْ فِي كُلِّ مُدُنِكُمْ. 

58 فَإِنْ لَمْ تَحْرِصُوا عَلَى الْعَمَلِ بِجَمِيعِ كَلِمَاتِ هَذِهِ الشَّرِيعَةِ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ فِي هَذَا الْكِتَابِ، لِتَهابُوا اسْمَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمُ الْجَلِيلَ الْمَرْهُوبَ، 

59 فَإِنَّ الرَّبَّ يَجْعَلُ الضَّرَبَاتِ النَّازِلَةَ بِكُمْ وَبِذُرِّيَّتِكُمْ ضَرَبَاتٍ مُخِيفَةً وَكَوَارِثَ رَهِيبَةً دَائِمَةً وَأَمْرَاضاً خَبِيثَةً مُزْمِنَةً، 

60 وَيُرْسِلُ عَلَيْكُمْ كُلَّ أَمْرَاضِ مِصْرَ الَّتِي فَزِعْتُمْ مِنْهَا فَتُلازِمُكُمْ، 

61 وَيُسَلِّطُ الرَّبُّ عَلَيْكُمْ أَيْضاً كُلَّ دَاءٍ وَكُلَّ بَلِيَّةٍ لَمْ تَرِدْ فِي كِتَابِ الشَّرِيعَةِ هَذَا، حَتَّى تَهْلِكُوا. 

62 فَتَصِيرُونَ قِلَّةً بَعْدَ أَنْ كُنْتُمْ فِي كَثْرَةِ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ، لأَنَّكُمْ لَمْ تَسْمَعُوا صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ. 

63 وَكَمَا سُرَّ الرَّبُّ بِكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَكَثَّرَكُمْ، فَإِنَّهُ سَيُسَرُّ بِأَنْ يَفْنِيَكُمْ وَيُهْلِكَكُمْ فَتَنْقَرِضُونَ مِنَ الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ مَاضُونَ إِلَيْهَا لاِمْتِلاكِهَا. 

64 وَيُشَتِّتُكُمُ الرَّبُّ بَيْنَ جَمِيعِ الأُمَمِ مِنْ أَقْصَى الأَرْضِ إِلَى أَقْصَاهَا، فَتَعْبُدُونَ هُنَاكَ آلِهَةً أُخْرَى مِنْ خَشَبٍ أَوْ حَجَرٍ لَمْ تَعْرِفُوهَا أَنْتُمْ وَلا آبَاؤُكُمْ، 

65 وَلا تَجِدُونَ بَيْنَ تِلْكَ الأُمَمِ اطْمِئْنَاناً وَلا مَقَرّاً لِقَدَمٍ، بَلْ يُعْطِيكُمُ الرَّبُّ قَلْباً هَلِعاً، وَعُيُوناً أَوْهَنَهَا التَّرَقُّبُ، وَنُفُوساً يَائِسَةً. 

66 وَتَعِيشُونَ حَيَاةً مُفْعَمَةً دَائِماً بِالتَّوَتُّرِ، مَلِيئَةً بِالرُّعْبِ لَيْلاً وَنَهَاراً. 

67 وَتَقُولُونَ فِي الصَّبَاحِ: يَا لَيْتَهُ الْمَسَاءُ، وَفِي الْمَسَاءِ: يَا لَيْتَهُ الصَّبَاحُ، مِنْ فَرْطِ ارْتِعَابِ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَمَا تَشْهَدُهُ عُيُونُكُمْ مِنْ هَوْلٍ. 

68 وَيَرُدُّكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَى دِيَارِ مِصْرَ فِي سُفُنٍ فِي طَرِيقٍ وَعَدَكُمْ أَلّا تَعُودُوا تَرَوْنَهَا، فَتُبَاعُونَ هُنَاكَ لأَعْدَائِكُمْ عَبِيداً وَإِمَاءً، وَلَيْسَ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي».

Le benedizioni

1 «Ora, se tu ubbidisci diligentemente alla voce del Signore tuo Dio, avendo cura di mettere in pratica tutti i suoi comandamenti che oggi ti do, il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti metterà al di sopra di tutte le nazioni della terra; 

2 e tutte queste benedizioni verranno su di te e si compiranno per te, se darai ascolto alla voce del Signore tuo Dio: 

3 sarai benedetto nella città e sarai benedetto nella campagna. 

4 Benedetto sarà il frutto del tuo seno, il frutto della tua terra e il frutto del tuo bestiame; benedetti i parti delle tue vacche e delle tue pecore. 

5 Benedetti saranno il tuo paniere e la tua madia. 

6 Sarai benedetto al tuo entrare e benedetto al tuo uscire. 

7 Il Signore farà sì che i tuoi nemici, quando si alzeranno contro di te, siano sconfitti davanti a te; usciranno contro di te per una via e per sette vie fuggiranno davanti a te. 

8 Il Signore ordinerà, e la benedizione verrà su di te, sui tuoi granai e su tutte le tue imprese; ti benedirà nel paese che il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti dà. 

9 Il Signore ti costituirà suo popolo santo, come ti ha giurato, se osserverai i comandamenti del Signore tuo Dio, e se camminerai nelle sue vie. 

10 Tutti i popoli della terra vedranno che tu porti il nome del Signore e ti temeranno. 

11 Il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti colmerà di beni: moltiplicherà il frutto del tuo seno, il frutto del tuo bestiame e il frutto della tua terra, nel paese che il Signore giurò ai tuoi padri di darti. 

12 Il Signore aprirà per te il suo buon tesoro, il cielo, per dare alla tua terra la pioggia al tempo giusto, e per benedire tutta l’opera delle tue mani; tu presterai a molte nazioni e non prenderai nulla in prestito. 

13 Il Signore ti metterà alla testa e non alla coda. Sarai sempre in alto, e mai in basso, se ubbidirai ai comandamenti del Signore tuo Dio, che oggi ti do perché tu li osservi e li metta in pratica, 

14 e se non devierai né a destra né a sinistra da alcuna delle cose che oggi vi comando, per andare dietro ad altri dèi e per servirli. 

Le maledizioni

15 «Ma se non ubbidisci alla voce del Signore tuo Dio, se non hai cura di mettere in pratica tutti i suoi comandamenti e tutte le sue leggi che oggi ti do, avverrà che tutte queste maledizioni verranno su di te e si compiranno per te: 

16 sarai maledetto nella città e sarai maledetto nella campagna. 

17 Maledetti saranno il tuo paniere e la tua madia. 

18 Maledetto sarà il frutto del tuo seno, il frutto della tua terra; maledetti i parti delle tue vacche e delle tue pecore. 

19 Sarai maledetto al tuo entrare e maledetto al tuo uscire. 

20 Il Signore manderà contro di te la maledizione, lo spavento e la minaccia in ogni cosa cui metterai mano e che farai, finché tu sia distrutto e tu perisca rapidamente, a causa della malvagità delle tue azioni per la quale mi avrai abbandonato. 

21 Il Signore farà sì che la peste si attacchi a te, finché essa ti abbia consumato nel paese nel quale stai per entrare per prenderne possesso. 

22 Il Signore ti colpirà di deperimento, di febbre, di infiammazione, di arsura, di aridità, di carbone e di ruggine, che ti perseguiteranno finché tu sia perito. 

23 Il tuo cielo sarà di bronzo sopra il tuo capo e la terra sotto di te sarà di ferro. 

24 Al posto della pioggia il Signore manderà, sul tuo paese, sabbia e polvere che cadranno su di te dal cielo, finché tu sia distrutto. 

25 Il Signore ti farà sconfiggere dai tuoi nemici; uscirai contro di loro per una via e per sette vie fuggirai davanti a loro e sarete ripugnanti per tutti i regni della terra. 

26 I tuoi cadaveri saranno pasto di tutti gli uccelli del cielo e delle bestie della terra, che nessuno scaccerà. 

27 Il Signore ti colpirà con l’ulcera d’Egitto, con emorroidi, con la rogna e con la tigna, da cui non potrai guarire. 

28 Il Signore ti colpirà di follia, di cecità e di confusione mentale; 

29 e andrai brancolando in pieno giorno, come il cieco brancola nel buio; non prospererai nelle tue vie, sarai continuamente oppresso e spogliato e nessuno ti soccorrerà. 

30 Ti fidanzerai con una donna e un altro si coricherà con lei; costruirai una casa, ma non vi abiterai; pianterai una vigna e non ne godrai il frutto. 

31 Il tuo bue sarà ammazzato sotto i tuoi occhi e tu non ne mangerai; il tuo asino sarà portato via in tua presenza e non ti sarà reso; le tue pecore saranno date ai tuoi nemici e non vi sarà chi ti soccorra. 

32 I tuoi figli e le tue figlie saranno dati in balìa di un altro popolo; i tuoi occhi lo vedranno e ti si consumeranno per il continuo rimpianto e la tua mano sarà senza forza. 

33 Un popolo che tu non avrai conosciuto mangerà il frutto della tua terra e di tutta la tua fatica e sarai continuamente oppresso e schiacciato. 

34 Sarai fuori di te per le cose che vedrai con i tuoi occhi. 

35 Il Signore ti colpirà sulle ginocchia e sulle cosce con un’ulcera maligna, dalla quale non potrai guarire; ti colpirà dalle piante dei piedi alla sommità del capo. 

36 Il Signore farà andare te e il re, che avrai costituito sopra di te, verso una nazione che né tu né i tuoi padri avrete conosciuto; lì servirai dèi stranieri, il legno e la pietra; 

37 e diventerai oggetto di stupore, di sarcasmo e di ironia per tutti i popoli fra i quali il Signore ti avrà condotto. 

38 Porterai molta semenza al campo e raccoglierai poco, perché la cavalletta la divorerà. 

39 Pianterai vigne, le coltiverai, ma non berrai vino né coglierai uva, perché il verme le roderà. 

40 Avrai degli ulivi in tutto il tuo territorio, ma non ti ungerai d’olio, perché i tuoi ulivi perderanno il loro frutto. 

41 Genererai figli e figlie, ma non saranno tuoi, perché andranno in schiavitù. 

42 Tutti i tuoi alberi e il frutto della terra saranno preda della cavalletta. 

43 Lo straniero che sarà in mezzo a te salirà sempre più in alto al di sopra di te e tu scenderai sempre più in basso. 

44 Egli presterà a te e tu non presterai a lui; egli sarà alla testa e tu in coda. 

45 Tutte queste maledizioni verranno su di te, ti perseguiteranno e ti raggiungeranno, finché tu sia distrutto, perché non avrai ubbidito alla voce del Signore tuo Dio, osservando i comandamenti e le leggi che egli ti ha dato. 

46 Esse saranno per te e per i tuoi discendenti come un segno e come un prodigio per sempre. 

47 Per non aver servito il Signore, il tuo Dio, con gioia e di buon cuore in mezzo all’abbondanza di ogni cosa, 

48 servirai i tuoi nemici che il Signore manderà contro di te, in mezzo alla fame, alla sete, alla nudità e alla mancanza di ogni cosa; ed essi ti metteranno un giogo di ferro sul collo, finché ti abbiano distrutto. 

49 Il Signore farà muovere contro di te, da lontano, dalle estremità della terra, una nazione, pari all’aquila che vola: una nazione della quale non capirai la lingua, 

50 una nazione dall’aspetto minaccioso, che non avrà riguardo per il vecchio né per il bambino; 

51 che mangerà il frutto del tuo bestiame e il frutto della tua terra, finché sia distrutto, e non ti lascerà né frumento, né mosto, né olio, né i parti delle tue vacche e delle tue pecore, finché ti abbia fatto perire. 

52 Ti assedierà in tutte le tue città, finché in tutto il tuo paese cadano le alte e forti mura nelle quali avrai riposto la tua fiducia. Essa ti assedierà in tutte le città, in tutto il paese che il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti avrà dato. 

53 E durante l’assedio e nell’angoscia alla quale ti ridurrà il tuo nemico, mangerai il frutto del tuo seno, le carni dei tuoi figli e delle tue figlie, che il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti avrà dato. 

54 L’uomo più delicato e sensibile tra di voi guarderà con occhio malvagio suo fratello, la donna che riposa sul suo seno, i figli che ancora gli rimangono, 

55 non volendo dividere con nessuno di loro la carne dei suoi figli di cui si ciberà, perché non gli sarà rimasto nulla durante l’assedio e nell’angoscia alla quale il tuo nemico ti ridurrà in tutte le tue città. 

56 La donna più delicata e raffinata tra di voi, che non avrebbe osato posare la pianta del piede in terra, tanto si sentiva delicata e raffinata, guarderà con occhio maligno il marito che riposa sul suo seno, suo figlio e sua figlia, 

57 per non dar loro nulla della placenta uscita dal suo seno e dei figli che metterà al mondo, perché, mancando di tutto, se ne ciberà di nascosto, durante l’assedio e nell’angoscia alla quale ti ridurrà il tuo nemico nelle tue città. 

58 Se non hai cura di mettere in pratica tutte le parole di questa legge, scritte in questo libro, se non temi questo nome glorioso e tremendo del Signore tuo Dio, 

59 il Signore renderà straordinarie le piaghe con le quali colpirà te e i tuoi discendenti: piaghe grandi e persistenti, malattie maligne e persistenti. 

60 Farà tornare su di te tutte le malattie d’Egitto, davanti alle quali tu tremavi, ed esse si attaccheranno a te. 

61 Anche le numerose malattie e le numerose piaghe non menzionate nel libro di questa legge, il Signore le farà venire su di te, finché tu sia distrutto. 

62 Voi rimarrete soltanto in pochi, dopo essere stati numerosi come le stelle del cielo, perché non avrai ubbidito alla voce del Signore tuo Dio. 

63 Avverrà che, come il Signore prendeva piacere a farvi del bene e moltiplicarvi, così il Signore prenderà piacere a farvi perire e a distruggervi; sarete strappati dal paese del quale vai a prendere possesso. 

64 Il Signore ti disperderà fra tutti i popoli, da una estremità della terra fino all’altra; e là servirai altri dèi, che né tu né i tuoi padri avete mai conosciuto: il legno e la pietra. 

65 Fra quelle nazioni non avrai riposo e non vi sarà luogo dove i tuoi piedi possano fermarsi; là il Signore ti darà un cuore tremante, degli occhi che si spengono e un’anima languente. 

66 La tua vita ti starà davanti come sospesa; tremerai notte e giorno e non sarai sicuro della tua esistenza. 

67 La mattina dirai: “Fosse pur sera!”, e la sera dirai: “Fosse pur mattina!”, a causa dello spavento che ti riempirà il cuore e a causa delle cose che vedrai con i tuoi occhi. 

68 Il Signore ti farà tornare in Egitto su delle navi, ripercorrendo la via della quale ti avevo detto: “Non la rivedrai più!”; là vi offrirete in vendita ai vostri nemici come schiavi e come schiave, ma mancherà il compratore!» 

69 Queste sono le parole del patto che il Signore comandò a Mosè di stabilire con i figli d’Israele nel paese di Moab, oltre al patto che aveva stabilito con essi a Oreb.

Blessings for Obedience

33 A nation that you have not known shall eat up the fruit of your ground and of all your labors, and you shall be only oppressed and crushed continually,

58 “If you are not careful to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, the LORD your God, (خر 6:3) 

59 then the LORD will bring on you and your offspring extraordinary afflictions, afflictions severe and lasting, and sicknesses grievous and lasting. 

60 And he will bring upon you again all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. (تث 7:15) 

61 Every sickness also and every affliction that is not recorded in the book of this law, the LORD will bring upon you, until you are destroyed.

66 Your life shall hang in doubt before you. Night and day you shall be in dread and have no assurance of your life.
