1 And he heard the words of Laban' sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father'; and of that which was our father' hath he gotten all this glory. 

2 And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as before. 

3 And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee. 

4 And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock, 

5 And said unto them, I see your father' countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me. 

6 And ye know that with all my power I have served your father. 

7 And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me. 

8 If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstraked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ringstraked. 

9 Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me. 

10 And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled. 

11 And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying , Jacob: And I said, Here am I. 

12 And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee. 

13 I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred. 

14 And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father' house? 

15 Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money. 

16 For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children': now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do. 

17 Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels; 

18 And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had gotten, the cattle of his getting, which he had gotten in Padanaram, for to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan. 

19 And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father'. 

20 And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled. 

21 So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead. 

22 And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled. 

23 And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days'journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead. 

24 And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. 

25 Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead. 

26 And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword? 

27 Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp? 

28 And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing. 

29 It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. 

30 And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father' house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods? 

31 And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Peradventure thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me. 

32 With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them. 

33 And Laban went into Jacob' tent, and into Leah' tent, and into the two maidservants'tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah' tent, and entered into Rachel' tent. 

34 Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel' furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not. 

35 And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images. 

36 And Jacob was wroth, and chode with Laban: and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me? 

37 Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us both. 

38 This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten. 

39 That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night. 

40 Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes. 

41 Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle: and thou hast changed my wages ten times. 

42 Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight. 

43 And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born? 

44 Now therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee. 

45 And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar. 

46 And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap. 

47 And Laban called it Jegarsahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed. 

48 And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed; 

49 And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another. 

50 If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee. 

51 And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee; 

52 This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm. 

53 The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the fear of his father Isaac. 

54 Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount. 

55 And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed, and returned unto his place.

Яков бяга от Лаван

1 А Яков чу думите на Лавановите синове, които казваха: Яков отне целия имот на баща ни и от бащиния ни имот придоби цялото това богатство. (Ps 49:16) 

2 И, ето, Яков видя, че Лаван не беше разположен към него, както преди. (Ge 4:5; De 28:54; 1Sa 19:7) 

3 А ГОСПОД каза на Яков: Върни се в отечеството си и в рода си и Аз ще бъда с тебе. (Ge 28:15; Ge 28:20; Ge 28:21; Ge 32:9) 

4 Тогава Яков прати да повикат Рахил и Лия на полето при стадото му; 

5 и им каза: Виждам, че баща ви не е разположен към мене, както преди, но Бог на баща ми е бил с мен. (Ge 31:2; Ge 31:3) 

6 А вие знаете, че с цялата си сила работих на баща ви. (Ge 30:29; Ge 31:38) 

7 Но баща ви ме излъга и десет пъти променя заплатата ми; обаче Бог не го остави да ми напакости. (Ge 20:6; Ge 31:41; Nu 14:22; Ne 4:12; Job 19:3; Ps 105:14; Zec 8:23) 

8 Ако кажеше така: Капчестите ще ти бъдат заплатата, тогава цялото стадо раждаше капчести, а ако кажеше така: Шарените ще ти бъдат заплатата, тогава цялото стадо раждаше шарени. (Ge 30:32) 

9 Така Бог отне стадото на баща ви и го даде на мен. (Ge 31:1; Ge 31:16) 

10 И по времето, когато стадото зачеваше, видях на сън, че, ето, козлите, които се качваха на стадото, бяха шарени, капчести и сиви. 

11 И ангел Божий ми каза в съня: Якове. А аз отговорих: Ето ме. (Ge 48:16) 

12 Той каза: Погледни и виж, че всички козли, които оплождат стадото, са шарени, капчести и сиви, защото видях всичко, което ти прави Лаван. (Ex 3:7)

18 И подкара всичкия си добитък и цялото си имущество, което беше придобил, спечеления от него добитък, който беше събрал в Падан-арам, за да отиде в Ханаанската земя при баща си Исаак. 

19 А когато Лаван беше отишъл да стриже овцете си, Рахил открадна домашните идоли на баща си. (Ge 35:2; Jud 17:5; 1Sa 19:13; Ho 3:4) 

20 И така, Яков побегна скришно от сириеца Лаван, без да му извести, че си отива. 

21 Побегна с цялото си имущество, стана и премина Ефрат и се отправи към хълмистата страна на Галаад. (Ge 46:28; 2Ki 12:17; Lu 9:51; Lu 9:53) 

Лаван преследва Яков

22 А на третия ден известиха на Лаван, че Яков побегнал. 

23 Тогава Лаван, като взе със себе си братята си, гони го седем дни и го стигна на Галаадската поляна. (Ge 13:8) 

24 Но Бог дойде насън, през нощта, при сириеца Лаван и му каза: Внимавай да не кажеш на Яков нито зло, нито добро. (Ge 20:3; Ge 24:50; Job 33:15; Mt 1:20) 

25 И така, Лаван стигна Яков. Яков беше разпънал шатрата си на бърдото, а Лаван с братята си разпъна своята сред хълмистата страна на Галаад. 

Съюзът между Яков и Лаван

26 Лаван запита Яков: Какво направи ти? Защо побегна скришно и отведе дъщерите ми, като с меч запленени? (1Sa 30:2) 

27 Защо се скри, за да бягаш, и ме измами, а не ми каза, за да можех да те изпратя с веселие и с песни, с тъпани и с арфи, 

28 нито ме остави да целуна синовете и дъщерите си? Ти си направил това, без да мислиш. (Ge 31:55; Ru 1:9; Ru 1:14; 1Sa 13:13; 1Ki 19:20; 2Ch 16:9; Ac 20:37) 

29 Ръката ми е достатъчно силна да ви напакости, но Бог на баща ви ми говори през нощта, като каза: Внимавай да не кажеш на Яков нито зло, нито добро. (Ge 28:13; Ge 31:24; Ge 31:53) 

30 И сега вече си тръгнал, понеже ти е домъчняло много за бащиния ти дом, обаче защо си откраднал боговете ми? (Ge 31:19; Jud 18:24) 

31 А Яков отговори на Лаван: Побегнах, понеже се уплаших, защото си казах: Може би ще ми отнемеш насила дъщерите си. 

32 В когото намериш боговете си, той да не остане жив; пред братята ни прегледай какво твое има в мен и си го вземи (защото Яков не знаеше, че Рахил ги беше откраднала). (Ge 44:9) 

33 И така, Лаван влезе в Якововата шатра, в Лиината шатра и в шатрите на двете слугини, но не намери идолите. Тогава, като излезе от Лиината шатра, влезе в Рахилината шатра. 

34 А Рахил беше взела домашните идоли, сложила ги беше в седлото на камилата и седеше на тях. А Лаван претърси в цялата шатра, но не ги намери. 

35 И Рахил каза на баща си: Да не ти се зловиди, господарю, че не мога да стана пред тебе, понеже имам обикновеното на жените. И той търси, но не намери идолите. (Ex 20:12; Le 19:32) 

36 Тогава Яков се разсърди и се скара с Лаван. Яков проговори и каза на Лаван: Какво е престъплението ми? Какъв е грехът ми, че си се втурнал след мене толкова разпалено? 

37 Като претърси всичките ми вещи, какво намери от цялата си покъщнина? Сложи го тук пред моите братя и пред твоите братя и нека отсъдят между двама ни. 

38 Двадесет години вече съм бил при теб, овцете ти и козите ти не се изяловиха и овните на стадото ти не изядох. 

39 Разкъсано от звяр не ти донесох, аз теглих загубата. От мене ти изискваше откраднатото, било, че се открадне през деня или през нощта. (Ex 22:10; Ex 22:12) 

40 Ето как беше с мене: през деня пекът ме изтощаваше, а през нощта – мразът, и сънят бягаше от очите ми. 

41 Двадесет години вече съм бил в дома ти; четиринадесет години ти работих за двете ти дъщери и шест години за овцете ти; и ти десет пъти промени заплатата ми. (Ge 29:27; Ge 29:28; Ge 31:7) 

42 Ако не беше с мене бащиният ми Бог, Бог на Авраам, Бог, от Когото се бои Исаак, ти без друго би ме изпратил сега без нищо. Бог видя моята неволя и труда на ръцете ми и те изобличи през нощта. (Ge 29:32; Ge 31:53; Ex 3:7; 1Ch 12:17; Ps 124:1; Ps 124:2; Isa 8:13; Jud 1:9) 

43 А Лаван отговори на Яков: Тези дъщери са мои дъщери и децата са мои деца, и стадата са мои стада, всичко, което виждаш, е мое; и какво да сторя днес на тези мои дъщери или на децата, които са народили? 

44 Но сега ела, аз и ти да сключим договор, който да бъде свидетелство между мене и тебе. (Ge 26:28; Jos 24:27) 

45 Тогава Яков взе камък и го изправи за стълб. (Ge 28:18) 

46 Яков каза още на братята си: Натрупайте камъни. И те взеха камъни и направиха грамада; и ядоха там край грамадата. 

47 Лаван я нарече Иегар Сахадута, а Яков я нарече Галаад. 

48 И Лаван каза: Тази грамада е свидетел днес между мене и тебе. Поради това тя бе наречена Галаад (Jos 24:27) 

49 и Масфа, защото Лаван казваше: ГОСПОД да бди между мене и тебе, когато сме далеч един от друг. (Jud 11:29; 1Sa 7:5) 

50 Ако се отнасяш зле с дъщерите ми или ако вземеш други жени, освен дъщерите ми, и няма никой човек с нас за свидетел, но виж, Бог е свидетел между мене и тебе. 

51 Лаван каза още на Яков: Гледай тази грамада и гледай стълба, който изправих между мене и тебе, 

52 тази грамада да бъде свидетел и стълбът да бъде свидетел, че аз няма да премина тази грамада към тебе, нито ти ще преминеш тази грамада и този стълб към мене, за да извършиш зло. 

53 Бог Авраамов, Бог Нахоров, бащиният им Бог нека съди между нас. И Яков се закле в Бога, от Когото се боеше Исаак. (Ge 16:5; Ge 21:23; Ge 31:42) 

54 Тогава Яков принесе жертва на поляната и повика братята си да ядат хляб; и ядоха хляб, и пренощуваха на поляната. 

55 На сутринта Лаван стана рано, целуна синовете и дъщерите си, благослови ги; и Лаван тръгна, и се върна в своето място. (Ge 18:33; Ge 28:1; Ge 30:25)
