1 Gott der Vergeltung, HERR, du Gott der Vergeltung, erscheine! (5Mo 32,35; Nah 1,2) 2 Erhebe dich, Richter der Erde, vergilt den Stolzen ihr Tun! (Ps 62,13; Jer 51,56) 3 Wie lange noch dürfen die Frevler, HERR, wie lange noch dürfen die Frevler frohlocken? 4 Sie geifern und führen freche Reden, die Übeltäter brüsten sich alle. (Ps 75,6) 5 HERR, sie zertreten dein Volk, sie unterdrücken dein Erbteil. 6 Sie bringen die Witwen und Fremden um und morden die Waisen. (2Mo 22,21; Hes 22,7) 7 Sie sagten: Der HERR sieht es nicht, der Gott Jakobs merkt es nicht. (Ps 10,11; Hebr 3,7; Hebr 4,1) 8 Begreift doch, ihr Toren im Volk! 1 Dio delle vendette, o Signore, Dio delle vendette, mòstrati nel tuo fulgore! 2 Ergiti, giudice della terra, rendi ai superbi quello che si meritano! 3 Fino a quando gli empi, o Signore, fino a quando gli empi trionferanno? 4 Fanno discorsi arroganti, tutti i malfattori si vantano. 5 Schiacciano il tuo popolo, o Signore, e opprimono la tua eredità. 6 Uccidono la vedova e lo straniero, ammazzano gli orfani. 7 Dicono: «Il Signore non vede, il Dio di Giacobbe non se ne preoccupa». 8 Cercate di capire, uomini stolti! E voi, sciocchi, quando sarete saggi? 9 Colui che ha fatto l’orecchio forse non ode? Colui che ha formato l’occhio forse non vede? 10 Colui che ammonisce le nazioni non saprà pure castigarle, lui che impartisce all’uomo la conoscenza? 11 Il Signore conosce i pensieri dell’uomo, sa che sono vani. 12 Beato l’uomo che tu correggi, o Signore, e istruisci con la tua legge 13 per dargli sollievo nei giorni dell’avversità, finché la fossa sia scavata per l’empio. 14 Poiché il Signore non ripudierà il suo popolo e non abbandonerà la sua eredità. 15 Il giudizio sarà di nuovo conforme a giustizia e tutti i retti di cuore lo seguiranno. 16 Chi sorgerà per me contro i malvagi? Chi sarà al mio fianco contro i malfattori? 17 Se il Signore non fosse stato il mio aiuto, a quest’ora l’anima mia abiterebbe il luogo del silenzio. 18 Quando ho detto: «Il mio piede vacilla», la tua bontà, o Signore, mi ha sostenuto. 19 Quando ero turbato da grandi preoccupazioni, il tuo conforto ha alleviato l’anima mia. 20 Il trono dell’ingiustizia ti avrà forse come complice? Esso, che trama oppressioni in nome della legge? 21 Si avventano insieme contro l’anima del giusto e condannano il sangue innocente. 22 Ma il Signore è il mio riparo, e il mio Dio è la rocca in cui mi rifugio. 23 Egli farà ricadere su di essi la loro malvagità e li distruggerà per la loro malizia; il Signore, il nostro Dio, li distruggerà.
