Gottes Treue und die Untreue seines Volkes

1 Halleluja! Dankt dem HERRN, denn er ist gut! Ja, seine Güte bleibt in alle Ewigkeit! 2 Wer kann die machtvollen Taten des HERRN in Worte fassen und sein Lob angemessen verkünden? 3 Glücklich sind die, die das Recht bewahren, die zu jeder Zeit gerecht handeln! 4 Denke an mich, HERR, weil du doch Freude an deinem Volk hast, komme mir nahe mit deiner Hilfe, 5 damit ich das Glück derer erlebe, die du auserwählt hast, mich freuen kann, wenn dein Volk sich freut, und mich glücklich preisen kann zusammen mit denen, die zu dir gehören! 6 Genau wie unsere Vorfahren sind auch wir schuldig geworden, wir haben Unrecht getan und gottlos gehandelt. 7 Unsere Vorfahren in Ägypten haben deine Wundertaten nicht begriffen, sie dachten nicht mehr an deine große Güte, ja, sie lehnten sich auf am Meer, am Schilfmeer. 8 Doch er rettete sie aufgrund seines Namens und um seine Macht deutlich zu zeigen. 9 Er wies das Schilfmeer zurecht, da trocknete es aus, er führte sie durch die Wassertiefen wie durch eine Wüste. 10 Er errettete sie aus der Hand derer, die sie hassten, er erlöste sie aus der Hand ihrer Feinde. 11 Das Wasser begrub ihre Verfolger unter sich, kein einziger von ihnen blieb übrig. 12 Da glaubten sie seinen Worten, sie sangen Loblieder auf ihn. 13 Doch sehr schnell vergaßen sie seine Taten, sie warteten nicht auf das, was er für sie geplant hatte. 14 Dort in der Wüste wurden sie immer gieriger, in der Einöde stellten sie Gott auf die Probe. 15 Da gab er ihnen das, wonach sie verlangt hatten, doch dabei ließ er sie krank und schwach werden. 16 Sie wurden neidisch auf Mose, dort im Lager, und auf Aaron, der dem HERRN geweiht war. 17 Da tat sich die Erde auf und verschluckte Datan und sie verschüttete die, die sich mit Abiram zusammengerottet hatten. 18 Ein Feuer flammte auf gegen diese Leute, die Flammen verbrannten die Gottesfeinde. 19 Einen jungen Bullen machten sie dort am Berg Horeb, sie warfen sich nieder vor einem Standbild aus Metall. 20 Ihn, den herrlichen Gott, tauschten sie ein gegen das Bild eines Stieres, der Gras frisst. 21 Sie vergaßen Gott, der sie gerettet hatte, ihn, der in Ägypten große Taten vollbracht hatte, 22 ja, Wunderzeichen dort im Land von Ham, unfassbare Dinge am Schilfmeer. 23 Er hatte schon beschlossen, sie zu vernichten, wäre da nicht Mose gewesen, sein Auserwählter! Der trat bei ihm für sie ein, um seinen Zorn abzuwenden, damit sie nicht vernichtet würden. 24 Doch sie verachteten das wunderbare Land, sie glaubten seinem Wort nicht. 25 Sie murrten darüber in ihren Zelten, auf die Stimme des HERRN hörten sie nicht. 26 Da erhob er seine Hand gegen sie, um sie dort in der Wüste niederzustrecken 27 und um ihre Nachkommen unter den Völkern zu Fall zu bringen und sie zu zerstreuen in alle Länder. 28 Denn sie hängten sich an den BAAL-PEOR und nahmen an Opfermahlzeiten für die Toten teil. 29 So riefen sie durch ihre Taten Gottes Zorn hervor. Da brach unter ihnen eine Plage aus. 30 Doch da trat Pinhas auf und vollstreckte die Strafe, da kam die Plage zum Stillstand. 31 Dadurch wurde er als Gerechter angesehen für immer, durch alle Generationen hindurch. 32 Sie forderten Gottes Zorn heraus an den Wasserstellen von Meriba und Mose erging es schlecht wegen ihnen, 33 denn sie lehnten sich auf gegen seinen Geist, sodass er unbedachte Dinge sagte. 34 Auch vernichteten sie die Völker nicht, wie der HERR ihnen befohlen hatte. 35 Stattdessen vermischten sie sich mit den fremden Völkern und übernahmen deren Gebräuche. 36 Sie verehrten ihre Götzen und das wurde ihnen zum Verhängnis. 37 Sie opferten ihre Söhne und Töchter den Dämonen! 38 So vergossen sie unschuldiges Blut, das Blut ihrer Söhne und Töchter, die schlachteten sie hin für die Götzen im Land Kanaan, und verunreinigten so das Land mit ihrem Blut. 39 So wurden sie unrein durch ihre Taten und brachen die Treue durch ihre Handlungen. 40 Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN gegen sein Volk, er wandte sich voller Abscheu ab von seinem Eigentum. 41 Da gab er sie in die Hand der fremden Völker, sodass die über sie herrschten, die sie hassten. 42 Ja, ihre Feinde setzten ihnen hart zu und sie wurden niedergebeugt unter ihre Macht. 43 Viele Male rettete er sie, doch sie lehnten sich gegen ihn auf mit ihren Vorhaben und verstrickten sich mehr und mehr in ihrer Schuld. 44 Dennoch schaute er nach ihnen in ihrer Not, als er ihren Hilferuf vernahm. 45 Er dachte an seinen Bund mit ihnen, um ihretwillen, und hatte Mitleid mit ihnen nach seiner unendlichen Güte. 46 Da ließ er sie Erbarmen finden bei denen, die sie ins Exil verschleppt hatten. 47 Komme uns doch zu Hilfe, HERR, unser Gott, und führe uns wieder zusammen aus den Völkern, sodass wir deinen heiligen Namen preisen und uns wieder glücklich preisen und dich loben können! 48 Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott Israels, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! Und das ganze Volk soll sagen: Amen! Halleluja!

2 Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord, or declare all his praise? 3 Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times! (Ps 15,2) 4 Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people; help me when you save them,^[1] (Ps 119,132) 5 that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance. 7 Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea. (Jes 24,5) 39 Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds.
