Gottes Güte bleibt auf ewig

1 Preist den HERRN, denn er ist gut! Ja, seine Güte bleibt auf ewig. 2 So sollen die sprechen, die der HERR freigekauft hat, die er befreit hat aus der Macht ihrer Unterdrücker, 3 und die, die er zusammengebracht hat aus den Ländern, von Osten und von Westen, vom Norden und vom Meer! 4 Sie irrten umher in der Wüste, auf einem Weg in der Einöde, und fanden keinen bewohnten Ort. 5 Hungrig waren sie und durstig, ihre Lebenskraft schwand dahin. 6 Da schrien sie zum HERRN in ihrer Not und er rettete sie aus ihren Ängsten. 7 Er leitete sie auf einem geraden Weg, sodass sie zu einem bewohnbaren Ort gelangten. 8 Deshalb sollen sie den HERRN loben für seine Güte, für seine Wundertaten an den Menschen! 9 Denn er hat ihre durstige Seele erfrischt, ihre hungrige Seele hat er mit Gutem gesättigt. 10 Sie wohnten in Dunkelheit und Finsternis, waren bedrängt und in Eisenfesseln, 11 denn sie hatten sich gegen Gottes Wort aufgelehnt und den Rat des Höchsten verachtet. 12 Er demütigte ihr Herz durch Elend. Sie stürzten zu Boden, doch da war keiner, der ihnen half. 13 Da schrien sie zum HERRN in ihrer Not und er rettete sie aus ihren Ängsten. 14 Er führte sie heraus aus Dunkelheit und Finsternis und ihre Fesseln riss er entzwei. 15 Deshalb sollen sie den HERRN loben für seine Güte, für seine Wundertaten an den Menschen! 16 Denn er hat die Tore aus Bronze zerbrochen und eiserne Türriegel zerschlagen. 17 Die Unbelehrbaren litten unter ihren falschen Taten und unter ihren Vergehen. 18 Jede Speise war ihnen zuwider, nahe waren sie schon den Eingangstoren des Todes. 19 Da schrien sie zum HERRN in ihrer Not und er rettete sie aus ihren Ängsten. 20 Da sandte er sein Wort und heilte sie und rettete sie vor der Grube. 21 Deshalb sollen sie den HERRN loben für seine Güte, für seine Wundertaten an den Menschen! 22 Dann werden sie ihm Dankopfer bringen und voller Jubel von seinen Taten erzählen. 23 Andere fuhren mit Schiffen auf dem Meer, trieben Handel auf hoher See. 24 Sie konnten dort die Werke des HERRN betrachten, seine Wunderzeichen im tiefen Meer. 25 Da sprach er und es kam ein Sturm auf, der türmte die Wogen hoch auf. 26 Sie hoben sich zum Himmel und stürzten wieder in die Tiefe. In dieser Not verloren sie all ihren Mut. 27 Sie wankten und schwankten wie Betrunkene, all ihre Weisheit war vergebens. 28 Da schrien sie zum HERRN in ihrer Not und er führte sie heraus aus ihren Ängsten. 29 Er verwandelte den Sturmwind in ein leises Wehen, da legten sich die Wogen. 30 Da freuten sie sich, dass sie still geworden waren, und er führte sie zum Hafen, nach dem sie sich sehnten. 31 Deshalb sollen sie den HERRN loben für seine Güte, für seine Wundertaten an den Menschen! 32 Sie sollen ihn erheben in der Volksversammlung und ihn im Rat der Ältesten loben! 33 Wasserströme lässt er zur Wüste werden und Wasserquellen zum trockenen Land. 34 Fruchtbares Land macht er zur Salzwüste aufgrund der Bosheit seiner Bewohner. 35 Die Wüste machte er zum Teich und das vertrocknete Land zu sprudelnden Quellen. 36 Dort ließ er Hungrige wohnen, damit sie Städte gründeten, um darin zu wohnen. 37 Sie bestellten die Felder und pflanzten Weinberge, so brachten sie reichhaltige Frucht hervor. 38 Er segnete sie und sie vermehrten sich sehr und er ließ es nicht zu, dass sich ihr Viehbestand verringerte. 39 Doch dann nahm ihre Zahl wieder ab, niedergedrückt unter der Last von Unglück und Kummer. 40 Verachtung schüttete er über die Vornehmen aus, er ließ sie in der Einöde umherirren, wo kein Weg ist. 41 Doch die Armen zog er empor aus dem Elend und ließ ihre Familien so zahlreich werden wie das Kleinvieh. 42 Die Aufrichtigen werden es sehen und sich freuen, doch alle Bosheit muss verstummen! 43 Wer ist weise? Der soll sich das merken! Ja, sie sollen wahrnehmen, wie viel Gutes der HERR schenkt.

Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So

1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (Ps 100,5; Ps 105,1) 2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble^[1] (Ps 106,10; Jes 62,12; Jes 63,4) 3 and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. 4 Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; (5Mo 32,10; Ps 107,36; Ps 107,40) 5 hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. (Ps 77,3) 6 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. (Ps 106,44; Ps 107,13; Ps 107,19; Ps 107,28)

7 He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in. (Esr 8,21; Ps 107,4) 8 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! 12 So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help. (Ps 22,11) 13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 36 And there he lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in; (Ps 107,4; Ps 107,7) 37 they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield. 38 By his blessing they multiply greatly, and he does not let their livestock diminish. (1Mo 12,2; 1Mo 17,20; 2Mo 1,7) 39 When they are diminished and brought low through oppression, evil, and sorrow, 40 he pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes; (5Mo 32,10; Hi 12,21; Hi 12,24) 41 but he raises up the needy out of affliction and makes their families like flocks. (1Sam 2,8; Hi 21,11; Ps 113,7) 42 The upright see it and are glad, and all wickedness shuts its mouth. (Hi 22,19; Ps 63,11) 43 Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord. (Ps 64,9; Jer 9,12; Hos 14,9)
