1 А като видя народът, че Моисей се забави да слезе от планината, народът се събра срещу Аарон и му каза: Стани, направи ни богове[1], които да ходят пред нас; защото този Моисей, човекът, който ни изведе от египетската земя, не знаем какво му стана. (Изх 13:21; Изх 24:18; Вт 9:9; Д А 7:40) 2 Аарон им каза: Извадете златните обици, които са на ушите на жените ви, на синовете ви и на дъщерите ви, и ми ги донесете. (Съд 8:24) 3 И така, целият народ извади златните обици, които бяха на ушите им, и ги донесоха на Аарон. 4 А той, като ги взе от ръцете им, изля от тях фигура на теле и я издяла с длето; и те казаха: Тези са боговете[2] ти, о, Израилю, които те изведоха от египетската земя. (Изх 20:23; Вт 9:16; Съд 17:3; Съд 17:4; 3 Цар 12:28; Неем 9:18; Пс 106:19; Ис 46:6; Д А 7:41; Рим 1:23) 5 След като видя това, Аарон издигна жертвеник пред него; и Аарон прогласи: Утре ще бъде празник на ГОСПОДА. (Изх 20:3; Изх 20:4; Изх 20:23; Вт 9:16; 3 Цар 12:28) 9 ГОСПОД каза още на Моисей: Видях този народ и, ето, твърдоглав народ са; (Изх 33:3; Изх 33:5; Изх 34:9; Вт 9:6; Вт 9:13; Вт 31:27; 2 Лет 30:8; Ис 48:4; Д А 7:51) 10 и така, сега Ме остави, за да пламне гневът Ми против тях и да ги изтребя; а от тебе ще направя велик народ. (Изх 22:24; Чис 14:12; Вт 9:14; Вт 9:19) 11 Тогава Моисей се помоли на Йехова, своя Бог: ГОСПОДИ, защо пламва гневът Ти против народа Ти, който си извел от египетската земя с голяма сила и мощна ръка? (Вт 9:18; Вт 9:26; Пс 74:1; Пс 74:2; Пс 106:23) 12 Защо да говорят египтяните: За зло ги изведе, за да ги измори в планините и да ги изтреби от лицето на земята? Отвърни се от разпаления Си гняв и се откажи от това зло, което възнамеряваш против народа Си. (Изх 32:14; Чис 14:13; Вт 9:28; Вт 32:27) 13 Спомни си за слугите Си Авраам, Исаак и Израил, на които си се клел в Себе Си, като си им казал: Ще размножа потомството ви като небесните звезди и тази цялата земя, за която говорих, ще дам на потомството ви и те ще я наследят завинаги. (Бит 12:7; Бит 13:15; Бит 15:7; Бит 15:18; Бит 22:16; Бит 26:4; Бит 28:13; Бит 35:11; Бит 35:12; Евр 6:13) 14 Тогава ГОСПОД се въздържа от злото, което беше казал, че ще направи на народа Си. (Вт 32:26; 2 Цар 24:16; 1 Лет 21:15; Пс 106:45; Ер 18:8; Ер 26:13; Ер 26:19; Йоил 2:13; Йона 3:10; Йона 4:2) 15 И така, Моисей се обърна и слезе от планината с двете плочи на свидетелството в ръцете си – плочи, написани и от двете страни; от едната и от другата страна бяха написани. (Вт 9:15) 16 Плочите бяха Божие дело; и написаното беше Божие писание, начертано на плочите. (Изх 31:18) 17 А когато Исус Навин чу гласа на народа, който викаше, каза на Моисей: Боен глас има в стана. 18 А той отговори: Това не е вик за победа, нито вик за поражение; а пеене чувам аз. 19 И като се приближи до стана, видя телето и игрите; и пламна Моисеевият гняв, така че хвърли плочите от ръцете си и ги строши под планината. (Вт 9:16; Вт 9:17) 20 Тогава взе телето, което бяха направили, изгори го в огън и като го стри на ситен прах, разпръсна праха по водата и накара израилските синове да я изпият. (Вт 9:21) 21 После Моисей каза на Аарон: Какво ти стори този народ, че си им навлякъл голям грях? (Бит 20:9; Бит 26:10) 22 Аарон отвърна: Да не пламне гневът на господаря ми; ти знаеш, че народът упорства в злото. (Изх 14:11; Изх 15:24; Изх 16:2; Изх 16:20; Изх 16:28; Изх 17:2; Изх 17:4) 23 Понеже ми казаха: Направи ни богове, които да ходят пред нас; защото този Моисей, човекът, който ни изведе от египетската земя, не знаем какво му стана. (Изх 32:1) 24 И аз им казах: Който има злато, нека си го извади; и така те ми го дадоха. Тогава го хвърлих в огъня; и направих[4] това теле. (Изх 32:4) 25 А Моисей, като видя, че народът беше съблечен (защото Аарон ги беше съблякъл за срам между неприятелите им), (2 Лет 28:19) 26 Моисей застана при входа на стана и каза: Който е откъм ГОСПОДА, нека дойде при мен. И при него се събраха всички Левийци. 27 Той им каза: Така говори ГОСПОД, Израилевият Бог: Препашете всички меча на бедрото си, минете насам-натам от врата на врата през стана и убийте всеки брат си и всеки другаря си, и всеки ближния си. (Чис 25:5; Вт 33:9) 28 И Левийците сториха според Моисеевата дума; и в този ден от народа паднаха около три хиляди мъже. 29 Защото Моисей беше казал: Посветете себе си днес на ГОСПОДА, като се вдигнете всеки против сина си и против брат си, за да ви бъде дадено днес благословение. (Чис 25:11; Вт 13:6; Вт 33:9; Вт 33:10; 1 Цар 15:18; 1 Цар 15:22; Пр 21:3; Зах 13:3; Мт 10:37) 30 А на следващия ден Моисей каза на народа: Вие сте извършили голям грях; но сега ще се изкача към ГОСПОДА, дано да мога да Го умилостивя за греха ви. (Чис 25:13; 1 Цар 12:20; 1 Цар 12:23; 2 Цар 16:12; Ам 5:15; Лк 15:18) 31 Тогава Моисей се върна при ГОСПОДА и каза: Уви! Този народ извърши голям грях, че си направиха богове от злато. (Изх 20:23; Вт 9:18) 32 Но сега, ако искаш, прости греха им; но ако не, моля Ти се, заличи мен от книгата, която си написал. (Пс 56:8; Пс 69:28; Пс 139:16; Дан 12:1; Рим 9:3; Фил 4:3; Отк 3:5; Отк 13:8; Отк 17:8; Отк 20:12; Отк 20:15; Отк 21:27; Отк 22:19) 33 Но ГОСПОД отговори на Моисей: Който е съгрешил против Мене, него ще залича от книгата Си. (Лев 23:30; Ез 18:4) 34 А ти иди сега, води народа на мястото, за което съм ти говорил; ето, ангелът Ми ще ходи пред теб; обаче в деня, когато ги посетя, ще въздам върху тях наказанието за греха им[5]. (Изх 33:2; Изх 33:14; Чис 20:16; Вт 32:35; Ам 3:14; Рим 2:5; Рим 2:6) 35 Така ГОСПОД порази народа затова, че направиха телето, което Аарон изработи. (2 Цар 12:9; Д А 7:41)

1 When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, “Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” (Изх 13:21; Изх 24:18; Изх 32:23; Вт 9:9; Д А 7:40) 2 So Aaron said to them, “Take off the rings of gold that are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” (Изх 12:35; Изх 12:36) 3 So all the people took off the rings of gold that were in their ears and brought them to Aaron. 4 And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden[1] calf. And they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” (Вт 9:16; Съд 17:3; Съд 17:4; 3 Цар 12:28; Неем 9:18; Пс 106:19; Д А 7:41) 5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the LORD.” (4 Цар 10:20) 6 And they rose up early the next day and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings. And the people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play. (Бит 26:8; Съд 21:21; 1 Кор 10:7) 7 And the LORD said to Moses, “Go down, for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. They have made for themselves a golden calf and have worshiped it and sacrificed to it and said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!’” (Изх 20:3; Изх 20:4; Изх 20:23; Вт 9:16) 9 And the LORD said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people. (Вт 9:18; Вт 9:26; Пс 74:1; Пс 74:2; Пс 106:23) 12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent did he bring them out, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people. (Изх 14:1; Вт 32:27) 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’” (Бит 12:7; Бит 13:15; Бит 15:7; Бит 15:18; Бит 22:16; Бит 26:4; Бит 28:13; Бит 35:11; Бит 35:12; Бит 48:16; Евр 6:13) 14 And the LORD relented from the disaster that he had spoken of bringing on his people. (Изх 34:29; Вт 9:15) 16 The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets. (Изх 31:18) 17 When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a noise of war in the camp.” (Изх 17:9; Изх 17:10; Изх 24:13; Изх 33:11) 18 But he said, “It is not the sound of shouting for victory, or the sound of the cry of defeat, but the sound of singing that I hear.” (Ер 51:14) 19 And as soon as he came near the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, Moses’ anger burned hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain. (Вт 9:16; Вт 9:17; Вт 9:21) 20 He took the calf that they had made and burned it with fire and ground it to powder and scattered it on the water and made the people of Israel drink it. 21 And Moses said to Aaron, “What did this people do to you that you have brought such a great sin upon them?” (Бит 20:9) 22 And Aaron said, “Let not the anger of my lord burn hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil. (Изх 14:11; Изх 15:24; Изх 16:2; Изх 16:20; Изх 17:2; Изх 17:4; 1 Цар 15:24) 23 For they said to me, ‘Make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’ (Изх 32:1) 24 So I said to them, ‘Let any who have gold take it off.’ So they gave it to me, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf.” (Изх 32:2) 25 And when Moses saw that the people had broken loose (for Aaron had let them break loose, to the derision of their enemies), (Изх 32:12) 26 then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, “Who is on the LORD’s side? Come to me.” And all the sons of Levi gathered around him. 27 And he said to them, “Thus says the LORD God of Israel, ‘Put your sword on your side each of you, and go to and fro from gate to gate throughout the camp, and each of you kill his brother and his companion and his neighbor.’” (Чис 25:5; Вт 33:9) 28 And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And that day about three thousand men of the people fell. 29 And Moses said, “Today you have been ordained for the service of the LORD, each one at the cost of his son and of his brother, so that he might bestow a blessing upon you this day.” (Зах 13:3; Мт 10:37; Лк 14:26) 30 The next day Moses said to the people, “You have sinned a great sin. And now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.” (Изх 21:1; 1 Цар 12:20; 2 Цар 16:12; Ам 5:15) 31 So Moses returned to the LORD and said, “Alas, this people has sinned a great sin. They have made for themselves gods of gold. (Изх 20:23; Изх 32:30) 32 But now, if you will forgive their sin—but if not, please blot me out of your book that you have written.” (Чис 14:19; Пс 56:8; Пс 69:28; Пс 139:16; Дан 12:1; Рим 9:3; Фил 4:3) 33 But the LORD said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot out of my book. (Ез 18:4; Ез 18:20) 34 But now go, lead the people to the place about which I have spoken to you; behold, my angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I visit, I will visit their sin upon them.” (Изх 14:19; Изх 33:12) 35 Then the LORD sent a plague on the people, because they made the calf, the one that Aaron made.
