1 Kdo miluje cvičení, miluje umění; kdož pak nenávidí domlouvání, nemoudrý jest. 2 Dobrý nalézá lásku u Hospodina, ale muže nešlechetného potupí Bůh. 3 Nebývá trvánlivý člověk v bezbožnosti, kořen pak spravedlivých nepohne se. 4 Žena statečná jest koruna muže svého, ale jako hnis v kostech jeho ta, kteráž k hanbě přivodí. 5 Myšlení spravedlivých jsou pravá, rady pak bezbožných lstivé. 6 Slova bezbožných úklady činí krvi, ústa pak spravedlivých vytrhují je. 7 Vyvráceni bývají bezbožní tak, aby jich nebylo, ale dům spravedlivých ostojí. 8 Podlé toho, jakž rozumný jest, chválen bývá muž, převráceného pak srdce bude v pohrdání. 9 Lepší jest nevzácný, kterýž má služebníka, nežli ten, kterýž sobě slavně počíná, a nemá chleba. 10 Pečuje spravedlivý o život hovádka svého, srdce pak bezbožných ukrutné jest. 11 Kdo dělá zemi svou, nasycen bývá chlebem; ale kdož následuje zahalečů, blázen jest. 12 Žádostiv jest bezbožný obrany proti zlému, ale kořen spravedlivých způsobuje ji. 13 Do přestoupení rtů zapletá se zlostník, ale spravedlivý vychází z ssoužení. 14 Z ovoce úst každý nasycen bude dobrým, a odplatu za skutky člověka dá jemu Bůh. 15 Cesta blázna přímá se zdá jemu, ale kdo poslouchá rady, moudrý jest. 16 Hněv blázna v tentýž den poznán bývá, ale opatrný hanbu skrývá. 17 Kdož mluví pravdu, ohlašuje spravedlnost, svědek pak falešný lest. 18 Někdo vynáší řeči podobné meči probodujícímu, ale jazyk moudrých jest lékařství. 19 Rtové pravdomluvní utvrzeni budou na věky, ale na kratičko jazyk lživý. 20 V srdci těch, kteříž zlé obmýšlejí, bývá lest, v těch pak, kteříž radí ku pokoji, veselí. 21 Nepotká spravedlivého žádná těžkost, bezbožní pak naplněni budou zlým. 22 Ohavností jsou Hospodinu rtové lživí, ale ti, jenž činí pravdu, líbí se jemu. 23 Člověk opatrný tají umění, ale srdce bláznů vyvolává bláznovství. 24 Ruka pracovitých panovati bude, lstivá pak musí dávati plat. 25 Starost v srdci člověka snižuje ji, ale věc dobrá obveseluje ji. 26 Vzácnější jest nad bližního svého spravedlivý, cesta pak bezbožných svodí je. 27 Nebude péci fortelný, což ulovil, ale člověk bedlivý statku drahého nabude. 28 Na stezce spravedlnosti jest život, a cesta stezky její nesmrtelná jest.

1 Kdo miluje napomenutí, miluje poznání, kdežto kdo domluvy nenávidí, je tupec. 2 Dobrý dochází u Hospodina zalíbení, kdežto pleticháře prohlašuje Hospodin za svévolníka. 3 Svévolí se nikdo nezajistí, kořen spravedlivých se nezviklá. 4 Žena statečná je korunou svého manžela, kdežto ostudná mu je jako kostižer v kostech. 5 Spravedliví přemýšlejí o právu, svévolníci rozvažují o lsti. 6 Slova svévolníků jsou vražedné úklady, kdežto přímé jejich ústa vysvobodí. 7 Svévolníci budou podvráceni a nebudou již, kdežto dům spravedlivých obstojí. 8 Muž bude chválen pro svá prozíravá ústa, kdežto ten, kdo má zvrácené srdce, upadne v pohrdání. 9 Lépe je být zlehčován a mít otroka, než pokládat se za slavného a nemít chleba. 10 Spravedlivý cítí i se svým dobytkem, kdežto nitro svévolníků je nelítostné. 11 Kdo obdělává svou půdu, nasytí se chlebem, kdežto kdo následuje povaleče, nemá rozum. 12 Svévolník dychtivě loví kdejaké zlo, kdežto kořen spravedlivých vydává dobro. 13 Zlovolník se chytí do přestupků svých rtů, kdežto spravedlivý vyvázne ze soužení. 14 Ovocem svých úst se každý dobře nasytí, skutek rukou se člověku vrátí. 15 Pošetilci zdá se, že je jeho cesta přímá, kdežto kdo poslouchá rady, je moudrý. 16 U pošetilce se jeho hoře pozná týž den, kdežto chytrý přikryje hanbu. 17 Kdo šíří pravdu, hlásá spravedlnost, kdežto křivý svědek lest. 18 Někdo tlachá, jako by probodával mečem, kdežto jazyk moudrých hojí. 19 Pravdivé rty se zajistí navždy, kdežto jazyk zrádný na okamžik. 20 Lest mají v srdci ti, kdo osnují zlo, kdežto radost ti, kdo radí ku pokoji. 21 Žádná ničemnost nezasáhne spravedlivého, kdežto svévolníci okusí zlého vrchovatě. 22 Zrádné rty jsou Hospodinu ohavností, kdežto zalíbení má v těch, kdo prosazují pravdu. 23 Chytrý člověk poznání skrývá, kdežto srdce hlupáků pošetilosti provolává. 24 Ruka pilných bude vládnout, kdežto zahálka vede do poroby. 25 Obavy lidské srdce tíží, ale dobré slovo vrací radost. 26 Spravedlivý prozkoumává svému příteli cestu, kdežto svévolníky jejich cesta zavede. 27 Zahálčivý nebude si péci úlovek, kdežto vzácným jměním pro člověka je píle. 28 Na stezce spravedlnosti je život, tato cesta nesměřuje k smrti.

1 Milovník poznání miluje poučení, jen tupý mezek si nedá domluvit. 2 Dobrotivého zahrne Hospodin přízní, lstivého člověka však odsoudí. 3 Darebáctví nikomu jistotu neposkytne, kořen spravedlivých však nikdo nevyrve. 4 Znamenitá žena je korunou svého muže, hanebná je ale jako kostižer. 5 Úmysly poctivých jsou spravedlivé, rady darebáků však zákeřné. 6 Slova darebáků jsou smrtelná léčka, poctivé vysvobodí jejich řeč. 7 Když darebáci padnou, je s nimi konec, dům spravedlivých ale obstojí. 8 Čím je kdo rozumnější, tím více bývá ceněn, muž křivé povahy však bude pohrdnut. 9 Lépe být přehlížen, ale mít služebníka, než tvářit se důležitě a nemít na chleba. 10 Spravedlivý cítí i s dobytčetem, srdce darebáků je ale bezcitné. 11 Kdo obdělává pole, nasytí se chlebem, kdo ztratil rozum, honí vidiny. 12 Darebák závidí kořist zlosynovi, kořeny spravedlivých však plody přináší. 13 Hříšné rty jsou zlosynovi pastí, spravedlivý však ujde trápení. 14 Ovoce svých úst každý hojně sklidí, vlastní skutek se k člověku navrátí. 15 Hlupák je přesvědčen, že jde správně, kdo je však moudrý, dá si poradit. 16 Hlupákův hněv se projeví ihned, rozvážný člověk snese urážky. 17 Pravdomluvný člověk svědčí o pravdě, křivopřísežník podvádí. 18 Unáhlené řeči bodají jako meče, jazyk moudrých je ale jako lék. 19 Pravdomluvné rty obstojí navždy, prolhaný jazyk jen krátký okamžik. 20 Zlomyslní mají v srdci jen faleš, mírumilovní žijí v radosti. 21 Spravedlivým nic neublíží, darebáky stíhá samé neštěstí. 22 Prolhané rty se Hospodinu hnusí, kdo žijí v pravdě, ti jej potěší. 23 Rozvážný člověk umí své vědění tajit, hňup ale z plna hrdla křičí nesmysly. 24 Pracovitým rukám bude svěřena vláda, zahálčivost však vede k porobě. 25 Starosti člověka tíží v srdci, laskavé slovo ale radost navrátí. 26 Spravedlivý najde i pro bližního cestu, cesta darebáků ale končí blouděním. 27 Lenoch si žádný úlovek neupeče, píle je pro člověka cenný majetek. 28 Život je na stezce spravedlnosti, vyšlapaná cesta vede ke smrti.
