Heiligung der Erstgeburt Israels. Das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote
1Und der HERR redete zu Mose und sprach:2Heilige mir alle Erstgeburt! Alles, was, den Mutterschoß als Erstes durchbricht von den Kindern Israels, vom Menschen und vom Vieh, das gehört mir! (2Mo 12,12; 2Mo 12,15; 2Mo 22,29; 2Mo 34,19; 3Mo 27,26; 5Mo 15,19; Lk 2,23)3Da sprach Mose zu dem Volk: Gedenkt an diesen Tag, an dem ihr aus Ägypten gezogen seid, aus dem Haus der Knechtschaft, dass der HERR euch mit mächtiger Hand von dort herausgeführt hat: Darum sollt ihr nichts Gesäuertes essen! (2Mo 6,1; 2Mo 12,8; 2Mo 12,9; 2Mo 12,14; 2Mo 12,16; 2Mo 12,20; 2Mo 12,39; 2Mo 12,41; 5Mo 5,15; 5Mo 8,2; 5Mo 26,8; 1Chr 16,12; Ps 136,12)4Heute seid ihr ausgezogen, im Monat Abib. (2Mo 23,15; 2Mo 34,18; 5Mo 16,1)5Wenn dich nun der HERR in das Land der Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Hewiter und Jebusiter bringen wird, wie er es deinen Vätern geschworen hat, um dir ein Land zu geben, in dem Milch und Honig fließt, so sollst du diesen Dienst in diesem Monat bewahren. (2Mo 3,8; 2Mo 3,17; 2Mo 6,8)6Sieben Tage lang sollst du ungesäuertes [Brot] essen, und am siebten Tag ist ein Fest des HERRN. (2Mo 5,1; 2Mo 10,9; 2Mo 12,14; 2Mo 12,15; 2Mo 23,14; 2Mo 34,18)7Man soll diese sieben Tage lang ungesäuertes [Brot] essen, und kein gesäuertes [Brot] soll bei dir gesehen werden; und kein Sauerteig soll gesehen werden in deinem ganzen Gebiet. (2Mo 12,15; Mt 16,6)8Und du sollst [das] deinem Sohn an jenem Tag erklären und sagen: Es ist um deswillen, was der HERR an mir getan hat, als ich aus Ägypten zog. (2Mo 12,26)9Und es soll dir wie ein Zeichen sein in deiner Hand und ein Erinnerungszeichen vor deinen Augen, damit das Gesetz des HERRN in deinem Mund sei, weil der HERR dich mit mächtiger Hand aus Ägypten herausgeführt hat. (2Mo 13,16; 5Mo 6,8; 5Mo 11,18; Spr 6,21; Hl 8,6)10Darum sollst du diese Ordnung einhalten, zur bestimmten Zeit, Jahr für Jahr. (2Mo 12,14; 2Mo 12,24; 2Mo 23,15; 3Mo 23,5)11Wenn dich nun der HERR in das Land der Kanaaniter bringt, wie er es dir und deinen Vätern geschworen hat, und es dir gibt, (2Mo 13,5)12so sollst du alles, was den Mutterschoß als Erstes durchbricht, für den HERRN aussondern, auch jeden ersten Wurf vom Vieh, den du bekommst; alles, was männlich ist, soll dem HERRN gehören. (2Mo 13,2; 2Mo 22,29; 2Mo 34,19; 3Mo 27,26; 4Mo 8,17; 5Mo 15,19)13Aber jede Erstgeburt des Esels sollst du mit einem Lamm auslösen[1]; wenn du es aber nicht auslöst, so brich ihm das Genick. Ebenso sollst du alle Erstgeburt des Menschen unter seinen Söhnen auslösen. (2Mo 34,20)14Und wenn dich künftig dein Sohn fragen wird: Was bedeutet das?, so sollst du ihm sagen: Der HERR hat uns mit mächtiger Hand aus Ägypten herausgeführt, aus dem Haus der Knechtschaft. (2Mo 6,7; 2Mo 12,26; 5Mo 6,20; 5Mo 6,21; Jos 4,6; Jos 4,21)15Denn es geschah, als der Pharao sich hartnäckig weigerte, uns freizulassen, da erschlug der HERR alle Erstgeburt im Land Ägypten, von der Erstgeburt der Menschen bis zur Erstgeburt des Viehs: Darum opfere ich dem HERRN alles Männliche, das als Erstes den Mutterschoß durchbricht; alle Erstgeburt meiner Söhne aber löse ich aus. (2Mo 12,29)16Und das soll dir wie ein Zeichen in deiner Hand sein und wie ein Erinnerungszeichen vor deinen Augen, dass uns der HERR mit mächtiger Hand aus Ägypten herausgeführt hat. (2Mo 13,3)
Israels Zug zum Schilfmeer
17Und es geschah, als der Pharao das Volk ziehen ließ, da führte sie Gott nicht auf die Straße durch das Land der Philister, obwohl sie die nächste war; denn Gott sprach: Es könnte das Volk reuen, wenn es Kämpfe vor sich sehen würde, und es könnte wieder nach Ägypten umkehren. (2Mo 14,10; 4Mo 14,1; 5Mo 17,16)18Darum führte Gott das Volk einen Umweg durch die Wüste am Schilfmeer. Und die Kinder Israels zogen gerüstet aus dem Land Ägypten. (2Mo 14,2; 4Mo 33,7)19Und Mose nahm die Gebeine Josephs mit sich; denn der hatte einen Eid von den Kindern Israels genommen und gesagt: Gott wird sich gewiss euer annehmen; dann führt meine Gebeine mit euch von hier herauf! (1Mo 50,25; Jos 24,32; Hebr 11,22)20So zogen sie aus von Sukkot und lagerten sich in Etam, am Rand der Wüste. (4Mo 33,6)21Und der HERR zog vor ihnen her, am Tag in einer Wolkensäule, um sie den rechten Weg zu führen, und bei Nacht in einer Feuersäule, um ihnen zu leuchten, damit sie bei Tag und bei Nacht ziehen konnten. (2Mo 14,19; 2Mo 14,24; 4Mo 9,15; 4Mo 10,34; 5Mo 1,33; Neh 9,12; Ps 78,14; Ps 105,39; Jes 4,5; 1Kor 10,1)22Die Wolkensäule wich nie von dem Volk bei Tag, noch die Feuersäule bei Nacht. (Neh 9,19)

(2Mo 3,20; 2Mo 6,1)4Heute – im Monat Abib[2] – zieht ihr aus Ägypten fort. (2Mo 12,2)5Wenn euch der HERR in das Land der Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter gebracht hat, das er euren Vorfahren mit einem Eid versprochen hat – ein Land, in dem Milch und Honig überfließen –, dann sollt ihr dieses Fest jedes Jahr in diesem Monat feiern. (2Mo 3,8; 2Mo 12,25)6Sieben Tage lang sollt ihr nur ungesäuertes Brot essen. Am siebten Tag sollt ihr ein großes Fest für den HERRN feiern. (2Mo 12,15)7Esst während dieser sieben Tage nur ungesäuertes Brot. Innerhalb der Grenzen eures Landes darf in dieser Zeit weder gesäuertes Brot noch Sauerteig zu finden sein.8An diesem Tag sollt ihr euren Söhnen Folgendes erklären: ›Wir feiern diesen Tag zur Erinnerung an das, was der HERR für uns getan hat, als wir Ägypten verließen.‹9Dieser Brauch soll euch – wie ein Zeichen auf eurer Hand oder an eurer Stirn – immer daran erinnern, dass ihr über die Anweisungen des HERRN reden und danach handeln sollt. Denn der HERR hat euch mit großer Macht aus Ägypten befreit. (2Mo 12,14; 5Mo 6,8)10Feiert deshalb dieses Fest jedes Jahr zur festgesetzten Zeit in der vorgeschriebenen Art und Weise. (2Mo 12,24)11Wenn der HERR euch in das Land der Kanaaniter bringt, wie er es euch und euren Vorfahren mit einem Eid versprochen hat, und es euch gibt,12dann sollt ihr dem HERRN eure erstgeborenen Söhne weihen. Jedes erstgeborene männliche Tier sollt ihr außerdem dem HERRN opfern. (2Mo 13,2; 2Mo 22,29; 4Mo 3,13; Lk 2,23)13Jeden erstgeborenen männlichen Esel sollt ihr mit einem Lamm loskaufen. Wenn ihr ihn jedoch nicht loskaufen wollt, müsst ihr ihm das Genick brechen. Eure erstgeborenen Söhne dagegen müsst ihr loskaufen. (2Mo 34,20; 4Mo 18,15)14Wenn eure Söhne euch später fragen werden: ›Was bedeutet dieser Brauch?‹ Dann sollt ihr ihnen antworten: ›Mit großer Macht hat der HERR uns damals aus der Sklaverei in Ägypten geführt. (2Mo 12,26; 5Mo 6,20)15Der Pharao wollte uns nicht ziehen lassen. Deshalb tötete der HERR alle männlichen Erstgeburten der Ägypter und ihrer Tiere. Darum opfern wir jetzt alle erstgeborenen männlichen Tiere dem HERRN, und die erstgeborenen Söhne kaufen wir los.‹ (2Mo 12,29)16Dieser Brauch soll euch – wie ein Zeichen auf eurer Hand oder an eurer Stirn – daran erinnern. Denn der HERR hat uns mit großer Macht aus Ägypten geführt.« (2Mo 13,9; 5Mo 6,8)
Israels Umweg durch die Wüste
17Als der Pharao das Volk schließlich ziehen ließ, führte Gott es nicht durch das Gebiet der Philister, obwohl dies der kürzeste Weg war. Gott sagte sich: »Wenn das Volk merkt, dass ihm ein Kampf bevorsteht, bereut es möglicherweise den Auszug und kehrt nach Ägypten zurück.« (2Mo 14,11; 4Mo 14,1; 5Mo 17,16)18Deshalb ließ er das Volk einen Umweg machen und führte sie durch die Wüste ans Rote Meer. Die Israeliten verließen Ägypten zum Kampf gerüstet.19Mose nahm die Gebeine Josefs mit. Denn Josef hatte die Nachkommen Jakobs[3] schwören lassen und ihnen gesagt: »Ganz sicher wird Gott euch nach Kanaan zurückführen. Nehmt dann auch meine Gebeine von hier mit.« (1Mo 50,24; Jos 24,32; Apg 7,16)20Sie brachen von Sukkot auf und lagerten bei Etam am Rande der Wüste. (2Mo 12,37; 4Mo 33,6)21Der HERR selbst zog vor ihnen her: am Tag in einer Wolkensäule, um ihnen den Weg zu zeigen, und nachts in einer Feuersäule, um ihnen zu leuchten. So konnten sie bei Tag und bei Nacht wandern. (2Mo 14,19; Ps 105,39; 1Kor 10,1)22Am Tag wurden die Israeliten von der Wolkensäule geführt und in der Nacht von der Feuersäule.

(2Mo 23,15; 2Mo 34,18; 5Mo 16,1)5And when the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, you shall keep this service in this month. (2Mo 3,8; 2Mo 6,8; 2Mo 12,25; 2Mo 23,23; 2Mo 33,2; 2Mo 34,11; Jos 12,8; Jos 24,11)6Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to the Lord. (2Mo 12,15)7Unleavened bread shall be eaten for seven days; no leavened bread shall be seen with you, and no leaven shall be seen with you in all your territory.8You shall tell your son on that day, ‘It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’ (2Mo 12,26)9And it shall be to you as a sign on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the law of the Lord may be in your mouth. For with a strong hand the Lord has brought you out of Egypt. (2Mo 12,14; 2Mo 12,24; 4Mo 15,39; 5Mo 6,8; 5Mo 11,18; Mt 23,5)10You shall therefore keep this statute at its appointed time from year to year. (2Mo 12,14; 2Mo 12,17; 2Mo 12,24; 2Mo 12,43)11“When the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore to you and your fathers, and shall give it to you, (2Mo 13,5)12you shall set apart to the Lord all that first opens the womb. All the firstborn of your animals that are males shall be the Lord’s. (2Mo 13,2)13Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. Every firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem. (2Mo 34,20; 4Mo 3,46; 4Mo 18,15)14And when in time to come your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you shall say to him, ‘By a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery. (2Mo 12,26; 2Mo 13,3; 2Mo 13,16)15For when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the Lord killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of animals. Therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all the males that first open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’ (2Mo 12,29; 2Mo 13,13)16It shall be as a mark on your hand or frontlets between your eyes, for by a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt.” (2Mo 13,9; 2Mo 13,14)
Pillars of Cloud and Fire
17When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near. For God said, “Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.” (2Mo 14,11; 4Mo 14,1; Neh 9,17; Ps 107,7)18But God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. And the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt equipped for battle. (2Mo 14,2; 4Mo 33,6; 5Mo 32,10)19Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for Joseph[1] had made the sons of Israel solemnly swear, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones with you from here.” (1Mo 50,25; Jos 24,32; Apg 7,16; Hebr 11,22)20And they moved on from Succoth and encamped at Etham, on the edge of the wilderness. (2Mo 12,37; 4Mo 33,6)21And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. (2Mo 14,19; 2Mo 14,24; 2Mo 40,38; 4Mo 9,15; 4Mo 10,34; 4Mo 14,14; 5Mo 1,33; Neh 9,12; Neh 9,19; Ps 78,14; Ps 99,7; Ps 105,39; Jes 4,5; 1Kor 10,1)22The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.
1The LORD said to Moses,2‘Set apart for me the first boy born in every family. The eldest son of every Israelite mother belongs to me. Every male animal born first to its mother also belongs to me.’3Then Moses said to the people, ‘Remember this day. It’s the day you came out of Egypt. That’s the land where you were slaves. The LORD used his mighty hand to bring you out of Egypt. Don’t eat anything with yeast in it.4You are leaving today. It’s the month of Aviv.5The LORD will bring you into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites and Jebusites. He promised your people of long ago that he would give that land to you. It’s a land that has plenty of milk and honey. When you get there, celebrate this holy day in this month.6For seven days eat bread made without yeast. On the seventh day hold a feast to honour the LORD.7Eat bread made without yeast during those seven days. Nothing with yeast in it should be found among you. No yeast should be seen anywhere inside your borders.8On that day talk to your child. Say, “I’m doing this because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.”9When you celebrate this holy day, it will be like a mark on your hand. It will be like a reminder on your forehead. This law of the LORD must be on your lips. The LORD used his mighty hand to bring you out of Egypt.10Obey this law at the appointed time year after year.11‘The LORD will bring you into the land of Canaan. He will give it to you, just as he promised he would. He gave his word to you and your people of long ago.12After you arrive in the land, give to the LORD the eldest son of every mother. Every male animal born first to its mother among your livestock belongs to the LORD.13By sacrificing a lamb, buy back every male donkey born first to its mother. But if you don’t buy the donkey back, break its neck. Buy back every eldest son.14‘In days to come, your child will ask you, “What does this mean?” Say to them, “The LORD used his mighty hand to bring us out of Egypt. That’s the land where we were slaves.15Pharaoh was stubborn. He refused to let us go. So the LORD killed every eldest son in Egypt. He also killed all those born first among the people and animals. That’s why I sacrifice to the LORD every male animal born first. And that’s why I buy back each of my eldest sons for the LORD.”16This holy day will be like a mark on your hand. It will be like a sign on your forehead. It will remind you that the LORD used his mighty hand to bring us out of Egypt.’
Israel goes through the Red Sea
17Pharaoh let the people go. The shortest road from Goshen to Canaan went through the Philistine country. But God didn’t lead them that way. God said, ‘If they have to go into battle, they might change their minds. They might return to Egypt.’18So God led the people towards the Red Sea by taking them on a road through the desert. The Israelites were ready for battle when they went up out of Egypt.19Moses took the bones of Joseph along with him. Joseph had made the Israelites give their word to do this. He had said, ‘God will surely come to help you. When he does, you must carry my bones up from this place with you.’ (1Mo 50,25)20The people left Sukkoth. They camped at Etham on the edge of the desert.21By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud. It guided them on their way. At night he led them with a pillar of fire. It gave them light. So they could travel by day or at night.22The pillar of cloud didn’t leave its place in front of the people during the day. And the pillar of fire didn’t leave its place at night.
