Das kommende Gericht und die Heilsabsichten Gottes in der Gnadenzeit
1Geliebte, dies ist nun schon der zweite Brief, den ich euch schreibe, um durch Erinnerung eure lautere Gesinnung aufzuwecken, (Röm 11,28; Kol 3,12; Kol 4,14; 2Petr 1,12; 2Petr 3,17)2damit ihr an die Worte gedenkt, die von den heiligen Propheten vorausgesagt worden sind, und dessen, was euch der Herr und Retter durch uns, die Apostel, aufgetragen hat. (Ps 143,5; Lk 24,6; 1Kor 11,23; 1Thess 2,13; 1Thess 4,2; 2Petr 1,19; Jud 1,17)3Dabei sollt ihr vor allem das erkennen, dass am Ende der Tage Spötter kommen werden, die nach ihren eigenen Lüsten wandeln (1Tim 4,1; 2Tim 3,1)4und sagen: Wo ist die Verheißung seiner Wiederkunft? Denn seitdem die Väter entschlafen sind, bleibt alles so, wie es von Anfang der Schöpfung an gewesen ist! (Jes 5,18; Hes 12,22; Mt 24,48)5Dabei übersehen sie aber absichtlich, dass es schon vorzeiten Himmel gab und eine Erde aus dem Wasser heraus [entstanden ist] und inmitten der Wasser bestanden hat durch das Wort Gottes; (1Mo 1,1; 1Mo 1,6; Ps 24,1; Ps 33,6; Hebr 11,3)6und dass durch diese [Wasser] die damalige Erde infolge einer Wasserflut zugrunde ging. (1Mo 7,17)7Die jetzigen Himmel aber und die Erde werden durch dasselbe Wort aufgespart und für das Feuer bewahrt bis zum Tag des Gerichts und des Verderbens der gottlosen Menschen. (Ps 102,26; Jes 51,6; Mt 24,35; 2Thess 1,8)8Dieses eine aber sollt ihr nicht übersehen, Geliebte, dass ein Tag bei dem Herrn ist wie tausend Jahre, und tausend Jahre wie ein Tag! (Ps 90,4)9Der Herr zögert nicht die Verheißung hinaus, wie etliche es für ein Hinauszögern halten, sondern er ist langmütig gegen uns, weil er nicht will, dass jemand verlorengehe, sondern dass jedermann Raum zur Buße habe. (Ps 86,15; Hes 18,23; Jon 4,2; Hab 2,3; Röm 2,4; 1Kor 13,4; Hebr 10,37)10Es wird aber der Tag des Herrn kommen wie ein Dieb in der Nacht; dann werden die Himmel mit Krachen vergehen, die Elemente aber vor Hitze sich auflösen und die Erde und die Werke darauf verbrennen. (Mt 24,43; 1Thess 5,2; 2Petr 3,7; Offb 20,11)
Die Hoffnung der Gläubigen und ihr heiliger Wandel
11Da nun dies alles aufgelöst wird, wie sehr solltet ihr euch auszeichnen durch heiligen Wandel und Gottesfurcht, (Hebr 12,28; 1Petr 1,17; 1Petr 4,7)12indem ihr das Kommen des Tages Gottes erwartet und ihm entgegeneilt, an welchem die Himmel sich in Glut auflösen und die Elemente vor Hitze zerschmelzen werden! (1Thess 1,10; Tit 2,13; 1Petr 1,13)13Wir erwarten aber nach seiner Verheißung neue Himmel und eine neue Erde, in denen Gerechtigkeit wohnt. (Ps 85,10; Jes 60,21; Jes 65,17; Offb 21,1; Offb 21,27)14Darum, Geliebte, weil ihr dies erwartet, so seid eifrig darum bemüht, dass ihr als unbefleckt und tadellos vor ihm erfunden werdet in Frieden! (Apg 24,16; Phil 2,12; 1Joh 3,3)15Und seht die Langmut unseres Herrn als [eure] Rettung an, wie auch unser geliebter Bruder Paulus euch geschrieben hat nach der ihm gegebenen Weisheit, (2Petr 3,9)16so wie auch in allen Briefen, wo er von diesen Dingen spricht. In ihnen ist manches schwer zu verstehen, was die Unwissenden und Ungefestigten verdrehen, wie auch die übrigen Schriften[1], zu ihrem eigenen Verderben. (Ps 119,130; Röm 3,8; Röm 8,23; 1Kor 1,8; 1Kor 2,14; Phil 3,15)17Ihr aber, Geliebte, da ihr dies im Voraus wisst, so hütet euch, dass ihr nicht durch die Verführung der Frevler mit fortgerissen werdet und euren eigenen festen Stand verliert! (Mt 16,6; Mt 16,12; Apg 20,28; 2Kor 11,3; Gal 5,1)18Wachst dagegen in der Gnade und in der Erkenntnis unseres Herrn und Retters Jesus Christus! The Day of the Lord Will Come
1This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, (2Petr 1,13)2that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, (Lk 1,70; Apg 3,21; Jud 1,17)3knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. (2Petr 2,10; Jud 1,18)4They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” (Jes 5,19; Jer 17,15; Hes 11,3; Hes 12,22; Hes 12,27; Mal 2,17; 1Thess 2,19)5For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, (1Mo 1,6; 1Mo 1,9; Ps 24,2; Ps 33,6; Ps 136,6; Hebr 11,3)6and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. (1Mo 7,11; 1Mo 7,21; 2Petr 2,5)7But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. 14Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. (1Kor 15,58; Phil 1,10; Phil 2,15; 1Thess 3,13; 1Thess 5,23; Jak 1,27)15And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, (Apg 15,25; 1Kor 3,10; 2Petr 3,9)16as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. (Jes 28,13; Hebr 5,11)17You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. (Mk 13,23; 1Kor 10,12; 2Petr 1,10; 2Petr 1,12)18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
