1 Wenn Jahwe, dein Gott, dich in das Land bringt, in das du jetzt ziehst, um es in Besitz zu nehmen, wenn er viele Völker vor dir vertreibt – die Hetiter, Girgaschiter, Amoriter, Kanaaniter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter, sieben Völker, die größer und stärker sind als du –, 2 wenn Jahwe, dein Gott, sie dir ausliefert und du sie schlägst, musst du unbedingt den Bann[1] an ihnen vollstrecken. Du darfst sie nicht verschonen und keinen Bund mit ihnen schließen. 3 Du darfst dich auf keinen Fall mit ihnen verschwägern, dass du deine Tochter einem Mann von ihnen gibst oder eine ihrer Töchter für deinen Sohn nimmst. 4 Denn sie würden deine Kinder verführen, sich von Jahwe abzuwenden und anderen Göttern zu dienen; dann würde Jahwe zornig über euch werden und euch schnell vernichten. 5 Für euch gibt es nur eins: Reißt ihre Altäre nieder, zerschlagt ihre Steinmale, haut ihre Aschera-Pfähle[2] um und verbrennt ihre Götterbilder. 6 Denn du bist ein Volk, das ausschließlich Jahwe gehört. Jahwe, dein Gott, hat aus allen Völkern der Erde dich ausgewählt und zu seinem Eigentum gemacht. 7 Jahwe war euch nicht deshalb zugeneigt, weil ihr größer als alle Völker wärt – ihr seid ja das kleinste unter ihnen –, 8 sondern weil er euch liebte und den Eid halten wollte, den er euren Vätern geschworen hat. Nur deshalb hat er euch mit starker Hand aus dem Sklavenhaus geführt, aus der Gewalt des ägyptischen Pharao. 9 Daran sollst du erkennen, dass Jahwe, dein Gott, allein der wahre Gott ist. Er steht zu seinem Wort und erweist seine Güte an denen, die ihn lieben und seine Gebote halten, auf tausend Generationen hin. 10 Doch die, die ihn hassen, bestraft er auf der Stelle und lässt sie umkommen. Bei einem, der ihn hasst, zögert er nicht; er vergilt es ihm direkt. 11 Darum halte das Gesetz, seine Vorschriften und Bestimmungen, die ich dir heute gebe, und handle danach! 12 Wenn ihr auf diese Rechtsbestimmungen hört, sie haltet und danach handelt, wird Jahwe, dein Gott, den Bund halten und dir seine Güte bewahren, wie er es deinen Vorfahren geschworen hat. 13 Er wird dich lieben, dich segnen und dich zahlreich werden lassen. Er wird die Frucht deines Leibes segnen und die Frucht deines Bodens, dein Korn, deinen Wein, dein Öl, die Zucht deiner Rinder und den Nachwuchs deiner Schafe in dem Land, das er euch geben wird, wie er deinen Vorfahren geschworen hat. 14 Mehr als alle Völker wirst du gesegnet sein. Niemand wird bei dir unfruchtbar sein, kein Mann, keine Frau und kein Vieh. 15 Vor jeder Krankheit wird Jahwe dich schützen. Keine der bösen Seuchen der Ägypter wird er über dich kommen lassen, sondern wird sie über die bringen, die dich hassen. 16 Du wirst alle Völker vernichten, die Jahwe, dein Gott, dir ausliefert. Ihr dürft kein Mitleid mit ihnen haben und ihren Göttern auf keinen Fall dienen. Denn das wäre eine Falle für dich. 17 Wenn du denkst: „Diese Völker sind größer als ich; wie könnte ich sie vertreiben?“, 18 dann fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen. Denk daran, was Jahwe, dein Gott, dem Pharao und allen Ägyptern angetan hat. 19 Denk an die großen Prüfungen, die du mit eigenen Augen gesehen hast, an die Zeichen und Wunder, an die starke Hand und den ausgestreckten Arm, mit denen dich Jahwe, dein Gott, herausgeführt hat. Das wird Jahwe allen Völkern antun, vor denen du dich fürchtest. 20 Panische Angst wird er über sie kommen lassen, bis auch die Übriggebliebenen vernichtet sind und die, die sich vor dir versteckt haben. 21 Erschrick nicht vor ihnen, denn Jahwe, dein Gott, ist in deiner Mitte, ein großer und furchtbarer Gott. 22 Er wird diese Nationen nach und nach vor dir vertreiben. Du sollst sie nicht schnell vernichten, sonst vermehren sich die wilden Tiere zu sehr und schaden dir. 23 Jahwe, dein Gott, wird dir die Völker im Land ausliefern; er wird sie in große Bestürzung versetzen, bis sie vernichtet sind. 24 Er wird ihre Könige in deine Hand geben, und du wirst jede Spur von ihnen auslöschen. Keiner wird vor dir standhalten. Du wirst sie alle vernichten. 25 Die Standbilder ihrer Götter müsst ihr ins Feuer werfen! Lass dich nicht von dem Silber und Gold an ihnen verleiten! Das würde dir zum Fallstrick werden, denn Jahwe, dein Gott, verabscheut das. 26 Bringe keinen solchen Gräuel in dein Haus, sonst bist du genauso wie dieser der Vernichtung verfallen. Ekel und Abscheu sollst du davor haben, denn so etwas ist verflucht.

1 وَمَتَى أَدْخَلَكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ إِلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ مَاضُونَ إِلَيْهَا لِتَرِثُوهَا، وَطَرَدَ مِنْ أَمَامِكُمْ سَبْعَ أُمَمٍ، أَكْثَرَ وَأَعْظَمَ مِنْكُمْ، وَهُمُ الْحِثِّيُّونَ وَالْجِرْجَاشِيُّونَ وَالأَمُورِيُّونَ وَالْكَنْعَانِيُّونَ وَالْفِرِزِّيُّونَ وَالْحِوِّيُّونَ وَالْيَبُوسِيُّونَ. 2 وَأَسْلَمَهُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَهَزَمْتُمُوهُمْ، فَإِنَّكُمْ تُحَرِّمُونَهُمْ. لَا تَقْطَعُوا لَهُمْ عَهْداً، وَلا تَرْفُقُوا بِهِمْ، 3 وَلا تُصَاهِرُوهُمْ. فَلا تُزَوِّجُوا بَنَاتِكُمْ مِنْ أَبْنَائِهِمْ، وَلا أَبْنَاءَكُمْ مِنْ بَنَاتِهِمْ، 4 إِذْ يُغْوُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي لِيَعْبُدُوا آلِهَةً أُخْرَى، فَيَحْتَدِمُ غَضَبُ الرَّبِّ عَلَيْكُمْ وَيُهْلِكُكُمْ سَرِيعاً. 5 وَلَكِنْ هَذَا مَا تَفْعَلُونَهُ بِهِمْ: اهْدِمُوا مَذَابِحَهُمْ وَحَطِّمُوا أَصْنَامَهُمْ وَقَطِّعُوا سَوَارِيَهُمْ وَأَحْرِقُوا تَمَاثِيلَهُمْ. 6 لأَنَّكُمْ شَعْبٌ مُقَدَّسٌ لِلرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ. فَإِيَّاكُمْ قَدِ اخْتَارَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ مِنْ بَيْنِ جَمِيعِ شُعُوبِ الأَرْضِ لِتَكُونُوا شَعْبَهُ الْخَاصَّ. 7 وَلَمْ يُفَضِّلْكُمُ الرَّبُّ وَيَتَخَيَّرْكُمْ لأَنَّكُمْ أَكْثَرُ عَدَداً مِنْ سَائِرِ الشُّعُوبِ، فَأَنْتُمْ أَقَلُّ الأُمَمِ عَدَداً. 8 بَلْ مِنْ مَحَبَّتِهِ، وَحِفَاظاً عَلَى الْقَسَمِ الَّذِي أَقْسَمَ بِهِ لِآبَائِكُمْ، أَخْرَجَكُمْ بِقُوَّةٍ فَائِقَةٍ، وَفَدَاكُمْ مِنْ نِيرِ عُبُودِيَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ مَلِكِ مِصْرَ. 9 فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ هُوَ اللهُ، الإِلَهُ الأَمِينُ الْوَفِيُّ بِالْعَهْدِ وَالإِحْسَانِ لِمُحِبِّيهِ وَحَافِظِي وَصَايَاهُ إِلَى أَلْفِ جِيلٍ. 10 وَهُوَ يُجَازِي مُبْغِضِيهِ عَلَناً، فَيَسْتَأْصِلُهُمْ وَلا يَتَمَهَّلُ، بَلْ يُسْرِعُ فِي مُعَاقَبَةِ مَنْ يُبْغِضُهُ. 11 فَأَطِيعُوا الْوَصَايَا وَالْفَرَائِضَ وَالأَحْكَامَ الَّتِي أُوْصِيكُمْ بِها الْيَوْمَ لِتُمَارِسُوهَا. 12 فَإِنِ اسْتَمَعْتُمْ إِلَى هَذِهِ الأَحْكَامِ وَأَطَعْتُمُوهَا وَعَمِلْتُمْ بِها، فَإِنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ يُحَافِظُ لَكُمْ عَلَى الْعَهْدِ وَالإِحْسَانِ كَمَا حَلَفَ لِآبَائِكُمْ. 13 وَيُحِبُّكُمْ وَيُبَارِكُكُمْ وَيُكَثِّرُكُمْ، وَيُبَارِكُ ثَمَرَةَ أَحْشَائِكُمْ وَغَلَّةَ أَرْضِكُمْ مِنْ قَمْحٍ وَخَمْرٍ وَزَيْتٍ، وَيَزِيدُ مِنْ إِنْتَاجِ بَقَرِكُمْ وَنِعَاجِكُمْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَقْسَمَ لِآبَائِكُمْ أَنْ يَهَبَهَا لَكُمْ. 14 وَتَكُونُونَ مُبَارَكِينَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ الشُّعُوبِ، فَلا يُوْجَدُ عَقِيمٌ وَلا عَاقِرٌ فِيكُمْ وَلا فِي بَهَائِمِكُمْ. 15 وَيَقِيكُمُ الرَّبُّ مِنْ كُلِّ عِلَّةٍ، وَكُلِّ أَمْرَاضِ مِصْرَ الْخَبِيثَةِ الَّتِي عَايَنْتُمُوهَا، وَلا يُصِيبُكُمْ بِها، بَلْ يَجْعَلُهَا عَلَى مُبْغِضِيكُمْ. 16 وَتَسْتَأْصِلُونَ جَمِيعَ الشُّعُوبِ الَّذِينَ يُسْلِمُهُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَيْكُمْ، فَلا تُشْفِقُوا عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا تَعْبُدُوا آلِهَتَهُمْ لأَنَّ ذَلِكَ شَرَكٌ لَكُمْ. 17 وَإِنْ تَسَاءَلْتُمْ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ: إِنَّ هَذِهِ الشُّعُوبَ أَكْثَرُ مِنَّا عَدَداً، فَكَيْفَ نَقْدِرُ أَنْ نَطْرُدَهُمْ؟ 18 لَا تَخَافُوا مِنْهُمْ بَلِ اذْكُرُوا مَا صَنَعَهُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ بِفِرْعَوْنَ وَسَائِرِ الْمِصْرِيِّينَ. 19 اذْكُرُوا الْوَيْلاتِ الْعَظِيمَةَ الَّتِي شَهِدَتْهَا أَعْيُنُكُمْ وَالْمُعْجِزَاتِ وَالْعَجَائِبَ وَالْقُوَّةَ الشَّدِيدَةَ وَالْقُدْرَةَ الْفَائِقَةَ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَكُمْ بِها الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ، فَهَكَذَا يَفْعَلُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ بِجَمِيعِ الأُمَمِ الَّتِي تَخْشَوْنَهَا. 20 وَيُرْسِلُ عَلَيْهِمِ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ الزَّنَابِيرَ وَيُبِيدُ الْبَاقِينَ الْمُحْتَجِبِينَ مِنْ وَجْهِكُمْ. 21 لَا تَرْهَبُوهُمْ، لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمُ الْحَالَّ بَيْنَكُمْ إِلَهٌ عَظِيمٌ وَمَرْهُوبٌ. 22 غَيْرَ أَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ سَيَطْرُدُ تِلْكَ الأُمَمَ مِنْ أَمَامِكُمْ تَدْرِيجِيًّا، لِئَلّا تَتَكَاثَرَ عَلَيْكُمْ وُحُوشُ الْبَرِّيَّةِ إِنْ أَسْرَعْتُمْ بِالْقَضَاءِ عَلَيْهِمْ دَفْعَةً وَاحِدَةً. 23 إِنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ يُسْلِمُهُمْ إِلَيْكُمْ مُوْقِعاً بِهِمِ الاضْطِرَابَ الْعَظِيمَ حَتَّى يَنْقَرِضُوا، 24 وَيَجْعَلُ مُلُوكَهُمْ يَقَعُونَ فِي أَسْرِكُمْ فَتَمْحُونَ اسْمَهُمْ مِنَ الأَرْضِ. وَلَنْ يَقْدِرَ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يُجَابِهَكُمْ، فَإِنَّكُمْ تُفْنُونَهُمْ. 25 أَحْرِقُوا تَمَاثِيلَ آلِهَتِهِمْ وَلا تَشْتَهُوا مَا عَلَيْهَا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَذَهَبٍ فَتَغْنَمُوهَا لأَنْفُسِكُمْ، لِئَلّا تَقْتَنِصَكُمْ، لأَنَّهَا رِجْسٌ عِنْدَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ. 26 لَا تُدْخِلُوا شَيْئاً رِجْساً إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ لِئَلّا تُصْبِحُوا أَهْلاً لِلدَّمَارِ مِثْلَهُ، بَلْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَسْتَقْبِحُوهُ وَتَمْقُتُوهُ، لأَنَّ مَآلَهُ الدَّمَارُ.

1 “When the Lord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and mightier than you, (2Mo 23,23; 5Mo 4,38; 5Mo 9,1; 5Mo 11,23; 5Mo 31,3; Ps 44,2) 2 and when the Lord your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction.[1] You shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them. (2Mo 22,20; 2Mo 23,32; 2Mo 34,12; 3Mo 27,29; 4Mo 21,2; 5Mo 7,23; 5Mo 20,10; 5Mo 20,17; 5Mo 23,14; Jos 2,14; Jos 9,18; Ri 1,24; Ri 2,2) 3 You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, (2Mo 34,16; Jos 23,12; 1Kön 11,2; Esr 9,2) 4 for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods. He will not be slack with one who hates him. He will repay him to his face. (5Mo 10,13) 12 “And because you listen to these rules and keep and do them, the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the steadfast love that he swore to your fathers. So will the Lord your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. (5Mo 6,22; 5Mo 11,3) 20 Moreover, the Lord your God will send hornets among them, until those who are left and hide themselves from you are destroyed. (2Mo 23,28; Jos 24,12) 21 You shall not be in dread of them, for the Lord your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God. (4Mo 11,20; 4Mo 14,14; 5Mo 6,15; 5Mo 10,17; 5Mo 28,58; Jos 3,10; Neh 1,5; Neh 4,14; Neh 9,32) 22 The Lord your God will clear away these nations before you little by little. You may not make an end of them at once,[2] lest the wild beasts grow too numerous for you. (2Mo 23,29) 23 But the Lord your God will give them over to you and throw them into great confusion, until they are destroyed. (5Mo 7,2) 24 And he will give their kings into your hand, and you shall make their name perish from under heaven. No one shall be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them. (5Mo 9,14; 5Mo 11,25; Jos 1,5; Jos 10,8; Jos 10,24; Jos 10,42; Jos 11,12; Jos 12,1; Jos 23,9) 25 The carved images of their gods you shall burn with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to the Lord your God. Он благословит вас множеством детей, обильным урожаем вашей земли – зерном, молодым вином и маслом, большим приплодом телят в ваших стадах и ягнят в отарах в земле, которую Он клялся вашим предкам отдать вам. 14 Ваш народ будет благословен больше любого другого народа; никто из ваших мужчин и женщин не будет бесплоден, и ваш скот не останется без молодняка. 15 Вечный сбережёт вас от всех болезней. Он не нашлёт на вас ни одну из тех ужасных болезней, которые вы знали в Египте, но нашлёт их на всех тех, кто ненавидит вас. 16 Вы должны истребить все народы, которые отдаст вам Вечный, ваш Бог. Не жалейте их и не служите их богам, чтобы это не стало для вас западнёй. 17 Вы можете подумать: «Эти народы сильнее нас. Как же мы сможем выгнать их?» 18 Но не бойтесь их; вспомните, что Вечный, ваш Бог, сделал с фараоном и со всем Египтом. 19 Вы своими собственными глазами видели те великие испытания, знамения и чудеса, могучую и простёртую руку, которыми Вечный, ваш Бог, вывел вас из Египта. Вечный, ваш Бог, сделает то же самое со всеми народами, которых вы сейчас боитесь. 20 Более того, Вечный, ваш Бог, нашлёт на них шершней[2], пока не погибнут даже те, кто спрячется от вас. 21 Не бойтесь их, потому что Вечный, ваш Бог, Который с вами, – это Бог великий и грозный. 22 Вечный, ваш Бог, постепенно изгонит от вас народы. Но вы не должны истреблять их всех сразу, иначе вокруг вас размножатся дикие звери. 23 Вечный, ваш Бог, отдаст вам эти народы, приведя их в великое смятение, пока они не будут истреблены. 24 Он отдаст вам в руки их царей, и вы сотрёте память о них из-под небес. Никто не сможет противостоять вам, вы истребите всех. 25 Изображения их богов вы должны сжечь в огне. Не желайте и не берите себе их золото и серебро, иначе вы попадёте в западню, ведь всё это отвратительно Вечному, вашему Богу. 26 Не вносите эту мерзость в дома ваши, чтобы не подвергнуться вместе с ней полному уничтожению. Гнушайтесь и брезгуйте всем этим, потому что идолы должны быть полностью уничтожены.
