1Am văzut când Mielul a deschis unul dintre cele șapte sigilii și am auzit‑o pe una dintre cele patru ființe vii zicând cu glas ca de tunet: „Vino!“2M‑am uitat și iată că a ieșit un cal alb, iar cel care‑l călărea avea un arc. I‑a fost dată o coroană și, ca un cuceritor, a ieșit să cucerească.3Când Mielul a deschis al doilea sigiliu, am auzit‑o pe cea de‑a doua ființă vie zicând: „Vino!“4Și a ieșit un alt cal, unul roșu, iar celui ce‑l călărea i s‑a dat voie să ia pacea de pe pământ, așa încât oamenii să se înjunghie unii pe alții; și i‑a fost dată o sabie mare.5Când Mielul a deschis al treilea sigiliu, am auzit‑o pe cea de‑a treia ființă vie zicând: „Vino!“ M‑am uitat și iată că a ieșit un cal negru, iar cel care‑l călărea avea în mână o balanță.6Am auzit între cele patru ființe vii ceva ca un glas zicând: „Un choinix[1] de grâu pentru un denar[2]! Trei choinicși de orz pentru un denar! Dar să nu strici uleiul și vinul!“7Când Mielul a deschis al patrulea sigiliu, am auzit glasul celei de‑a patra ființe vii zicând: „Vino!“8M‑am uitat și iată că a ieșit un cal verde pal[3], iar numele celui ce‑l călărea era Moartea. Împreună cu el, urmându‑l, era Locuința Morților[4]. Le‑a fost dată autoritate peste a patra parte a pământului, ca să omoare cu sabia, cu foametea, cu molima și prin fiarele sălbatice de pe pământ.9Când Mielul a deschis al cincilea sigiliu, am văzut sub altar sufletele celor ce fuseseră uciși[5] din cauza Cuvântului lui Dumnezeu și din cauza mărturiei pe care o avuseseră. (Ex 29:12; Lev 4:7)10Ei au strigat cu glas tare, zicând: „Până când, Stăpâne, Cel Sfânt și Adevărat, întârzii să judeci și să răzbuni sângele nostru împotriva celor ce locuiesc pe pământ?“11Fiecăruia i s‑a dat câte o robă albă și li s‑a spus să se mai odihnească încă puțin timp, până când numărul celor care au slujit împreună cu ei și al fraților lor, care urmează să fie uciși ca și ei, se va fi împlinit.12Apoi am văzut când Mielul a deschis al șaselea sigiliu; și a fost un mare cutremur. Soarele a devenit negru, ca pânza de sac făcută din păr, luna întreagă a devenit ca sângele,13iar stelele cerului au căzut pe pământ, așa cum un smochin își aruncă smochinele târzii[6] când este scuturat de un vânt puternic.14Cerul a fost strâns ca un sul ce este înfășurat, iar fiecare munte și insulă au fost mișcate din locurile lor.15Regii pământului, oamenii de seamă, comandanții, cei bogați, cei puternici, orice sclav și orice om liber s‑au ascuns în peșteri și printre stâncile munților.16Ei ziceau munților și stâncilor: „Cădeți peste noi și ascundeți‑ne de fața Celui Ce stă pe tron și de mânia Mielului,17pentru că a venit ziua cea mare a mâniei Lor și cine poate sta în picioare?!“

And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword. And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. (Zah 6:2; Apo 6:3)6And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A quart[1] of wheat for a denarius,[2] and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!” (Ez 4:10; Ez 5:10; Ez 5:16; Apo 7:3; Apo 9:4)7When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” (Apo 6:3)8And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth. (Is 34:4; Apo 8:10; Apo 9:1)14The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. (Is 54:10; Ier 4:24; Ez 38:20; Naum 1:5; Apo 6:13; Apo 16:20; Apo 20:11; Apo 21:1)15Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave[4] and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, (Is 2:19; Is 2:21)16calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, (Os 10:8; Lu 23:30; Apo 4:2)17for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” (Ezra 9:15; Ps 76:7; Ier 30:7; Ioel 2:11; Ioel 2:31; Mal 3:2; Lu 21:36)
