de Biblica1¡Oh Israel, si en verdad regresas a mí y definitivamente desechas tus ídolos, esos monigotes horribles que te has hecho,2y si juras pertenecerme sólo a mí, el Dios viviente, e inicias una vida buena, honrada y limpia, serás testimonio para las naciones del mundo y estas acudirán a mí y servirán también para difundir mi gran fama!3El SEÑOR dice a la gente de Judá y Jerusalén: Aren en la dureza de sus tierras, y no siembren sobre los cardos.4Dediquen al SEÑOR su mente y corazón, y no sólo su cuerpo como lo simbolizan al cortar parte de la piel del pene, o de otro modo mi cólera se encenderá y con ella los castigaré tanto que parecerá como un incendio que no se puede apagar.
La infidelidad de Israel
5Grítenle a la gente de Jerusalén y Judea que den la alarma por todo el país y se comunique por todos lados: «¡Huyan para salvarse! ¡Refúgiense en los edificios más seguros de cada ciudad!».6Envíen de Jerusalén este aviso: «¡Escapen ya, no se tarden!». Porque yo, el SEÑOR, traigo desde el norte un terrible ejército contra ustedes.7El enemigo viene como un león furtivo que sale furioso desde su guarida, y se encamina a la tierra de ustedes. Sus ciudades quedarán en ruinas, sin un habitante.8¡Así que vístanse de luto y lloren con amargura, porque la terrible cólera del SEÑOR aún no ha terminado!9En aquel día, dice el SEÑOR, el rey y los príncipes temblarán de miedo, y los sacerdotes y profetas estarán horrorizados.10(Entonces protesté yo: «¡Pero SEÑOR, el pueblo ha sido engañado por lo que tú dijiste, pues le prometiste que vivirían en paz! ¡Y sin embargo, ahora mismo el enemigo tiene la espada lista para matarlos!»).11-12En aquel tiempo el SEÑOR enviará sobre ellos un viento ardiente del desierto, no en pequeñas ráfagas sino en rugientes vendavales, no para limpiar los terrenos ni generar un clima agradable, sino que será el anuncio de la sentencia de destrucción de parte del SEÑOR.13Y ese viento es la imagen del enemigo, quien se dejará venir sobre nosotros como si fuera viento de tormenta. Sus carros de guerra parecerán un torbellino, sus caballos son más veloces que las águilas. ¡Ay de nosotros, pues no tenemos ninguna posibilidad de salir bien librados ante semejante ejército!14¡Oh Jerusalén, pon en orden tu vida mientras haya tiempo; aún puedes salvarte cambiando tu conducta y modo de pensar!15Desde la región de Dan y desde el monte Efraín llega el aviso de desgracias.16Adviertan a toda nuestra gente que el enemigo viene desde muy lejos gritando amenazas e insultos contra Jerusalén y las ciudades de Judá.17Ahora rodean a Jerusalén como si fueran pastores enfurecidos que acosan a un animal salvaje encerrado en un corral. Y esto es como consecuencia de que contra mí se ha rebelado mi pueblo, dice el SEÑOR.18Tu conducta malvada te ha acarreado esto, llenando de amargura tu corazón.19¡Ay, estoy completamente lleno de dolores! ¡Me retuerzo de dolor; el corazón me late violentamente! ¡No puedo estarme sereno pues he oído y escuchado las trompetas del ejército enemigo y el vocerío de los soldados agresores que se nos vienen encima.20¡Arremeten con todas sus fuerzas dejando destrucción por todos lados! Súbitamente, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, destruyen las casas y saquean las pertenencias.21¿Cuánto tiempo durará esto? ¿Hasta cuándo tendré que verme rodeado de guerra y muerte?22Hasta que mi pueblo abandone su terquedad, pues se niegan a seguir mis instrucciones. Son torpes, retrasados, sin entendimiento, muy avispados para hacer el mal, pero muy tontos cuando se trata de hacer algo bueno.23Miré su tierra, y hasta donde mi vista alcanzaba en todas direcciones no se veían más que ruinas, y el cielo estaba negro por el humo de los incendios.24Miré a los montes y los vi temblar y estremecerse, como reflejo de lo que le acontecía a los habitantes de la ciudad.25Miré, y había desaparecido todo rastro de vida, ¡hasta las aves del cielo habían huido!26Los fértiles valles habían quedado desiertos y todas las ciudades estaban en ruinas ante la presencia del SEÑOR, derribadas por el efecto de su acción justiciera.27Y todo esto como cumplimiento de una decisión del SEÑOR. ¡Menos mal que él decidió que al menos quedará con vida un pequeño grupo del pueblo!28La tierra llorará, los cielos estarán enlutados por la decisión contra mi pueblo, pero estoy resuelto y no la cambiaré.29Debido a estas acciones guerreras todos los habitantes de la ciudad huyen aterrorizados, tratando de escapar del retumbo de los ejércitos en marcha que se acercan, disparando sus flechas contra todos los habitantes. El pueblo huye a los montes y se oculta en los matorrales. Toda la ciudad ha quedado abandonada.30¿Y ahora tú, Jerusalén, por qué te pones tu vestido más lindo y las joyas más valiosas y te esmeras tanto con tu maquillaje? ¡No tiene sentido nada de lo que haces! ¡Tus aliados, a los que buscaste para que fueran tus amantes, ahora te desprecian y lo que quieren es verte muerta!31Entonces escuché un gran llanto y gemidos, como de parturienta primeriza. ¡Es el clamor de mi pueblo jadeante que suplica socorro, vencido por el enemigo!
