1Dann sah ich in jeder der vier Himmelsrichtungen einen Engel stehen. Sie hielten die Winde und Stürme zurück. Kein Lufthauch war zu spüren, weder auf der Erde noch auf dem Meer; nicht ein Blättchen raschelte an den Bäumen.2Aus dem Osten, da wo die Sonne aufgeht, sah ich einen anderen Engel heraufsteigen; der brachte das Siegel des lebendigen Gottes. Den vier Engeln, die von Gott die Macht erhalten hatten, das Verderben über Land und Meer zu bringen, rief er mit lauter Stimme zu:3»Wartet! Bringt noch kein Unheil über das Land, das Meer und die Bäume. Erst wollen wir allen, die zu Gott gehören und ihm dienen, sein Siegel auf die Stirn drücken.«4Dann hörte ich, wie viele dieses Zeichen erhielten. Es waren 144.000 aus allen Stämmen Israels:5-8je 12.000 aus den Stämmen Juda, Ruben, Gad, Asser, Naftali, Manasse, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Sebulon, Josef und Benjamin.
Die Auserwählten aus allen Völkern
9Jetzt sah ich eine riesige Menschenmenge, so groß, dass niemand sie zählen konnte. Die Menschen kamen aus allen Nationen, Stämmen und Völkern; alle Sprachen der Welt waren zu hören. Sie standen vor dem Thron und vor dem Lamm. Alle hatten weiße Gewänder an und trugen Palmenzweige in der Hand.10Mit lauter Stimme riefen sie: »Heil und Rettung kommen allein von unserem Gott, der auf dem Thron sitzt, und von dem Lamm!«11Alle Engel standen um den Thron, um die Ältesten[1] und die vier mächtigen Gestalten. Sie fielen vor dem Thron nieder und beteten Gott an. (Offb 4,4)12»Ja, das steht fest«, sagten sie, »Anbetung und Herrlichkeit, Weisheit und Dank, Ehre, Macht und Kraft gebühren unserem Gott für immer und ewig. Amen!«13Da fragte mich einer der Ältesten: »Weißt du, wer diese Menschen mit den weißen Kleidern sind und wo sie herkommen?«14»Nein, Herr«, antwortete ich, »aber du weißt es bestimmt.« Da antwortete er mir: »Sie kommen aus Verfolgung, Leid und Bedrängnis[2]. Im Blut des Lammes haben sie ihre Kleider reingewaschen. (Dan 12,1; Mt 24,21)15Deshalb stehen sie hier vor dem Thron Gottes und dienen ihm Tag und Nacht in seinem Tempel. Gott, der auf dem Thron sitzt, wird bei ihnen wohnen und sie beschirmen!16Sie werden nie wieder Hunger oder Durst leiden; keine Sonnenglut oder sengende Hitze wird sie jemals wieder quälen.17Denn das Lamm, das in der Mitte steht, wo der Thron ist, wird ihr Hirte sein. Er wird sie zu den Quellen führen, aus denen das Wasser des Lebens entspringt. Und Gott wird ihnen alle Tränen abwischen.«
1After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree. A Great Multitude from Every Nation
9After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, (3Mo 23,40; Joh 12,13; Röm 11,25; Offb 3,4; Offb 5,9; Offb 7,14)10and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Ps 3,8; Offb 12,10; Offb 19,1)11And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, (Offb 4,6; Offb 4,10)12saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” (1Chr 29,10; Offb 5,14; Offb 19,4)13Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” (Offb 7,9)14I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. La gran multitud
9Después de esto miré, y he aquí una gran multitud, la cual nadie podía contar, de toda nación y tribu, y pueblos y lenguas, que estaban en pie delante del trono y delante del Cordero, vestidos de ropas blancas, con palmas en sus manos.10Y claman a gran voz, diciendo: ¡Atribúyase la salvación a nuestro Dios que está sentado en el trono, y al Cordero!11Y todos los ángeles estaban en pie alrededor del trono y de los ancianos y de los cuatro seres vivientes, y cayeron sobre sus rostros delante del trono, y adoraron a Dios,12diciendo: ¡Amén! ¡La bendición, y la gloria, y la sabiduría, y la acción de gracias, y el honor, y el poder y la fortaleza, a nuestro Dios por los siglos de los siglos! ¡Amén!13Entonces uno de los ancianos tomó la palabra y me preguntó: ¿Quiénes son y de dónde vienen éstos vestidos con ropas blancas?14Y le he dicho: Señor mío, tú lo sabes.
