Das Doppelbildwort vom Salz und vom Licht
13Ihr seid das Salz der Erde. Wenn das Salz seinen Geschmack verliert, womit kann man es wieder salzig machen? Es taugt zu nichts mehr, außer weggeworfen und von den Leuten zertreten zu werden. (Mk 9,50; Lk 14,34)14Ihr seid das Licht der Welt. Eine Stadt, die auf einem Berg liegt, kann nicht verborgen bleiben. (Mk 4,21; Lk 8,16; Lk 11,33)15Man zündet auch nicht eine Leuchte an und stellt sie unter den Scheffel, sondern auf den Leuchter; dann leuchtet sie allen im Haus.16So soll euer Licht vor den Menschen leuchten, damit sie eure guten Taten sehen und euren Vater im Himmel preisen.
Über die Erfüllung der Weisung Gottes
17Denkt nicht, ich sei gekommen, um das Gesetz und die Propheten aufzuheben! Ich bin nicht gekommen, um aufzuheben, sondern um zu erfüllen. (Lk 16,17)18Amen, ich sage euch: Bis Himmel und Erde vergehen, wird kein Jota und kein Häkchen des Gesetzes vergehen, bevor nicht alles geschehen ist.19Wer auch nur eines von den kleinsten Geboten aufhebt und die Menschen entsprechend lehrt, der wird im Himmelreich der Kleinste sein. Wer sie aber hält und halten lehrt, der wird groß sein im Himmelreich.20Darum sage ich euch: Wenn eure Gerechtigkeit nicht weit größer ist als die der Schriftgelehrten und der Pharisäer, werdet ihr nicht in das Himmelreich kommen.
Die neuen Thesen
21Ihr habt gehört, dass zu den Alten gesagt worden ist: Du sollst nicht töten; wer aber jemanden tötet, soll dem Gericht verfallen sein. (2Mo 20,13; 5Mo 5,17)22Ich aber sage euch: Jeder, der seinem Bruder auch nur zürnt, soll dem Gericht verfallen sein; und wer zu seinem Bruder sagt: Du Dummkopf!, soll dem Spruch des Hohen Rates verfallen sein; wer aber zu ihm sagt: Du Narr!, soll dem Feuer der Hölle verfallen sein.23Wenn du deine Opfergabe zum Altar bringst und dir dabei einfällt, dass dein Bruder etwas gegen dich hat,24so lass deine Gabe dort vor dem Altar liegen; geh und versöhne dich zuerst mit deinem Bruder, dann komm und opfere deine Gabe!25Schließ ohne Zögern Frieden mit deinem Gegner, solange du mit ihm noch auf dem Weg zum Gericht bist! Sonst wird dich dein Gegner vor den Richter bringen und der Richter wird dich dem Gerichtsdiener übergeben und du wirst ins Gefängnis geworfen. (Lk 12,58)26Amen, ich sage dir: Du kommst von dort nicht heraus, bis du den letzten Pfennig bezahlt hast.[1]27Ihr habt gehört, dass gesagt worden ist: Du sollst nicht die Ehe brechen. Sól i światło
13Jesteście solą tej ziemi! Lecz jeśli sól utraci swój smak, staje się bezwartościowa. Dlatego wyrzuca się ją na ścieżkę, gdzie zostaje podeptana przez ludzi.14Jesteście światłem dla świata! Nie można ukryć miasta położonego na wzgórzu.15Nie zapala się też lampy, aby ją zaraz zasłonić, ale stawia się ją na podwyższeniu, aby świeciła wszystkim, którzy są w domu.16Wasze światło niech również świeci wszystkim ludziom, aby widzieli wasze dobre postępowanie i oddawali chwałę waszemu Ojcu w niebie.
Wypełnienie Prawa
17Nie myślcie, że przyszedłem znieść Prawo Mojżesza albo pisma proroków. Nie znieść, ale wypełnić!18Zapewniam was, że prędzej niebo i ziemia przestaną istnieć, niż zmieni się najmniejsza literka w Prawie—zanim wszystko zostanie do końca wypełnione.19Jeśli więc ktoś usunąłby nawet najmniej ważne przykazanie Prawa i tak nauczał innych, będzie najmniej ważny w królestwie niebieskim. A kto sam wypełnia wszystko i uczy tego innych, będzie wielki w królestwie niebieskim.20Ostrzegam was więc: jeśli wasza prawość nie będzie większa od prawości faryzeuszy i przywódców religijnych, nie wejdziecie do królestwa niebieskiego.
Zabójstwo
21Słyszeliście, że powiedziano przodkom: „Nie zabijaj”, a kto zabije, pójdzie pod sąd.22A ja wam mówię: Każdy, kto się na kogoś gniewa, pójdzie pod sąd! A kto nazywa go głupcem, stanie przed Wysoką Radą. A kto nazwałby go idiotą, zasługuje na ogień piekielny.23Jeśli więc, przynosząc dar na ołtarz w świątyni, przypomniałbyś sobie, że ktoś ci coś zarzuca,24zostaw swój dar przy ołtarzu i idź się pogodzić z tym człowiekiem. Potem wróć i złóż dar Bogu.25Póki jest na to czas, staraj się polubownie załatwić sprawę ze swoim oskarżycielem. Lepiej bowiem, gdy zginie jakaś część twojego ciała, niż byś z całym ciałem miał być wrzucony do piekła.30I jeśli twoja prawa ręka skłania cię do grzechu, odetnij ją i odrzuć. Rozwód
31W Prawie Mojżesza powiedziano też: „Kto chce się rozwieść z żoną, niech jej wręczy dokument rozwodowy”.32A Ja wam mówię: Kto rozwodzi się z żoną (z wyjątkiem przypadku rozwiązłości seksualnej), naraża ją na grzech niewierności. Kto zaś żeni się z rozwódką, również dopuszcza się grzechu niewierności małżeńskiej.
Przysięga
33Słyszeliście również, że powiedziano przodkom: „Nie przysięgaj fałszywie, lecz dotrzymaj przysięgi danej Panu”.34A Ja wam mówię: W ogóle nie przysięgajcie: ani na niebo—bo jest tronem Boga;35ani na ziemię—bo jest Jego podnóżkiem; ani na Jerozolimę—bo jest miastem wielkiego Króla!36Nawet na własną głowę nie przysięgaj—bo nie możesz jednego włosa uczynić białym lub czarnym.37Mów prawdę: niech twoje „tak” znaczy „tak”, a „nie” znaczy „nie”. Każde oszustwo pochodzi od szatana.
Oko za oko
38Słyszeliście, że w Prawie Mojżesza powiedziano: „Oko za oko, ząb za ząb”.39A Ja wam mówię: Nie rewanżujcie się za doznane zło! Jeśli ktoś cię obrazi, uderzając w policzek, nadstaw mu drugi.40Jeśli ktoś chce się z tobą sądzić o koszulę, daj mu od razu i płaszcz.41Jeśli ktoś cię zmusza, byś niósł mu bagaż kilometr, nieś mu i dwa.42Daj temu, kto cię prosi, i nie odwracaj się od tego, kto chce od ciebie coś pożyczyć.
Miłość do wrogów
43Słyszeliście, że powiedziano: „Kochaj przyjaciół, nienawidź wrogów”.44A Ja wam mówię: Kochajcie waszych wrogów i módlcie się za tych, którzy was prześladują—45tak postępują dzieci waszego Ojca w niebie. On bowiem sprawia, że słońce wschodzi dla dobrych i dla złych. A deszcz pada dla prawych i dla nieprawych.46Czy sądzicie, że zasługujecie na nagrodę, bo kochacie tych, którzy was kochają? Czy nawet źli ludzie tak nie postępują?47Jeśli jesteście mili tylko dla przyjaciół, w czym jesteście lepsi? Czy poganie tak nie postępują?48Bądźcie więc doskonali, tak jak wasz Ojciec w niebie.
