Vom Almosen

1 Hütet euch, eure Gerechtigkeit vor den Menschen zu tun, um von ihnen gesehen zu werden; sonst habt ihr keinen Lohn von eurem Vater im Himmel zu erwarten. 2 Wenn du Almosen gibst, posaune es nicht vor dir her, wie es die Heuchler in den Synagogen und auf den Gassen tun, um von den Leuten gelobt zu werden! Amen, ich sage euch: Sie haben ihren Lohn bereits erhalten. 3 Wenn du Almosen gibst, soll deine linke Hand nicht wissen, was deine rechte tut, 4 damit dein Almosen im Verborgenen bleibt; und dein Vater, der auch das Verborgene sieht, wird es dir vergelten.

Vom Beten – Das Vaterunser

5 Wenn ihr betet, macht es nicht wie die Heuchler! Sie stellen sich beim Gebet gern in die Synagogen und an die Straßenecken, damit sie von den Leuten gesehen werden. Amen, ich sage euch: Sie haben ihren Lohn bereits erhalten. 6 Du aber, wenn du betest, geh in deine Kammer, schließ die Tür zu; dann bete zu deinem Vater, der im Verborgenen ist! Dein Vater, der auch das Verborgene sieht, wird es dir vergelten. 7 Wenn ihr betet, sollt ihr nicht plappern wie die Heiden, die meinen, sie werden nur erhört, wenn sie viele Worte machen. 8 Macht es nicht wie sie; denn euer Vater weiß, was ihr braucht, noch ehe ihr ihn bittet. 9 So sollt ihr beten: Unser Vater im Himmel, / geheiligt werde dein Name,^[1] (Lk 11,2) 10 dein Reich komme, / dein Wille geschehe / wie im Himmel, so auf der Erde. 11 Gib uns heute das Brot, das wir brauchen! 12 Und erlass uns unsere Schulden, / wie auch wir sie unseren Schuldnern erlassen haben! 13 Und führe uns nicht in Versuchung, / sondern rette uns vor dem Bösen!^[2] 14 Denn wenn ihr den Menschen ihre Verfehlungen vergebt, dann wird euer himmlischer Vater auch euch vergeben. (Mk 11,25) 15 Wenn ihr aber den Menschen nicht vergebt, dann wird euch euer Vater eure Verfehlungen auch nicht vergeben.

Vom Fasten

16 Wenn ihr fastet, macht kein finsteres Gesicht wie die Heuchler! Sie geben sich ein trübseliges Aussehen, damit die Leute merken, dass sie fasten. Amen, ich sage euch: Sie haben ihren Lohn bereits erhalten. 17 Du aber, wenn du fastest, salbe dein Haupt und wasche dein Gesicht, 18 damit die Leute nicht merken, dass du fastest, sondern nur dein Vater, der im Verborgenen ist; und dein Vater, der das Verborgene sieht, wird es dir vergelten.

Von der rechten Sorge

19 Sammelt euch nicht Schätze hier auf der Erde, wo Motte und Wurm sie zerstören und wo Diebe einbrechen und sie stehlen, (Lk 12,33) 20 sondern sammelt euch Schätze im Himmel, wo weder Motte noch Wurm sie zerstören und keine Diebe einbrechen und sie stehlen! 21 Denn wo dein Schatz ist, da ist auch dein Herz. 22 Die Leuchte des Leibes ist das Auge. Wenn dein Auge gesund ist, dann wird dein ganzer Leib hell sein. (Lk 11,34) 23 Wenn aber dein Auge krank ist, dann wird dein ganzer Leib finster sein. Wenn nun das Licht in dir Finsternis ist, wie groß muss dann die Finsternis sein! 24 Niemand kann zwei Herren dienen; er wird entweder den einen hassen und den andern lieben oder er wird zu dem einen halten und den andern verachten. Ihr könnt nicht Gott dienen und dem Mammon. (Lk 16,13) 25 Deswegen sage ich euch: Sorgt euch nicht um euer Leben, was ihr essen oder trinken sollt, noch um euren Leib, was ihr anziehen sollt! Ist nicht das Leben mehr als die Nahrung und der Leib mehr als die Kleidung? (Lk 12,22) 26 Seht euch die Vögel des Himmels an: Sie säen nicht, sie ernten nicht und sammeln keine Vorräte in Scheunen; euer himmlischer Vater ernährt sie. Seid ihr nicht viel mehr wert als sie? 27 Wer von euch kann mit all seiner Sorge sein Leben auch nur um eine kleine Spanne verlängern? 28 Und was sorgt ihr euch um eure Kleidung? Lernt von den Lilien des Feldes, wie sie wachsen: Sie arbeiten nicht und spinnen nicht. 29 Doch ich sage euch: Selbst Salomo war in all seiner Pracht nicht gekleidet wie eine von ihnen. (1Kön 10,4) 30 Wenn aber Gott schon das Gras so kleidet, das heute auf dem Feld steht und morgen in den Ofen geworfen wird, wie viel mehr dann euch, ihr Kleingläubigen! 31 Macht euch also keine Sorgen und fragt nicht: Was sollen wir essen? Was sollen wir trinken? Was sollen wir anziehen? 32 Denn nach alldem streben die Heiden. Euer himmlischer Vater weiß, dass ihr das alles braucht. 33 Sucht aber zuerst sein Reich und seine Gerechtigkeit; dann wird euch alles andere dazugegeben. 34 Sorgt euch also nicht um morgen; denn der morgige Tag wird für sich selbst sorgen. Jeder Tag hat genug an seiner eigenen Plage.

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. 5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. 16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Zapewniam was: oni teraz odbierają za to nagrodę. 3 Wspierając potrzebującego, czyń to dyskretnie. Niech twoja lewa ręka nie wie, co robi prawa, 4 aby twoja pomoc pozostała w ukryciu. A Ojciec twój, który wszystko widzi, nagrodzi cię.

Modlitwa

5 Gdy się modlicie, nie zachowujcie się jak obłudnicy. Oni uwielbiają to robić w synagogach i na rogach ulic—na pokaz. Zapewniam was: już teraz odbierają za to nagrodę. 6 Ty zaś zamknij się w swoim pokoju i módl się do Ojca, który wszystko widzi—On cię nagrodzi. 7 Nie róbcie z modlitwy paplaniny—jak poganie, którzy sądzą, że wysłuchanie ich próśb zależy od ilości wypowiedzianych słów. 8 Nie bądźcie do nich podobni! Wasz Ojciec doskonale zna wasze potrzeby, zanim jeszcze Go o coś poprosicie! 9 Zwracajcie się do Boga tak: Nasz Ojcze w niebie, niech Twoje święte imię będzie uwielbione! 10 Niech nadejdzie Twoje królestwo. Niech Twoja wola wypełnia się na ziemi tak, jak w niebie. 11 Zapewnij nam codzienny pokarm. 12 Przebacz nam nasze grzechy, tak jak my przebaczamy tym, którzy zawinili wobec nas. 13 Nie pozwól, byśmy ulegli pokusie i wybaw nas od złego. 14 Jeśli bowiem wybaczycie innym ich zło, to i wam wybaczy wasz Ojciec w niebie. 15 Lecz jeśli nie wybaczycie, i On wam nie wybaczy.

16 Gdy powstrzymujecie się od posiłków, nie róbcie tego na pokaz—jak obłudnicy, którzy starają się wyglądać ponuro i mizernie. Zapewniam was: oni już teraz odbierają za to nagrodę. 17 Gdy więc pościsz, zadbaj o włosy i umyj twarz, 18 by pokazać swój post Ojcu, a nie ludziom. On wszystko widzi i nagrodzi cię.

Skarby w niebie

19 Nie gromadźcie bogactw tu, na ziemi, gdzie mogą ulec zniszczeniu lub zostać skradzione przez złodziei. 20 Gromadźcie je w niebie—tam nic ich nie zniszczy i nikt się nie włamie, by je ukraść. 21 Gdzie jest wasz skarb, tam będzie wasze serce. 22 Oko jest dla ciała jak lampa. Jeśli jest zdrowe, światło napełnia całe ciało. 23 Jeśli jednak jest chore, całe ciało jest pogrążone w ciemnościach. Jeżeli więc twoje światło jest ciemnością, to jest to ciemność nieprzenikniona. 24 Nie da się lojalnie służyć dwóm panom. Albo jednego nienawidzisz, a drugiego kochasz, albo na odwrót—drugiego szanujesz, a pierwszego lekceważysz. Nie możecie równocześnie żyć dla Boga i dla pieniędzy!

Nie martwcie się

25 Dlatego radzę wam: Nie martwcie się o swoje życie—o to, co będziecie jeść i pić, ani o ciało—w co się ubierzecie. Czy życie ogranicza się tylko do jedzenia, a ciało—tylko do ubrania? 26 Spójrzcie na ptaki: Nie sieją ziarna, nie magazynują zapasów, a wasz Ojciec w niebie żywi je! Czy wy nie jesteście ważniejsi od ptaków? 27 Czy ktokolwiek, poprzez zamartwianie się, potrafi przedłużyć swoje życie choćby o jedną chwilę? 28 Dlaczego martwicie się o ubranie? Uczcie się od polnych kwiatów: Nie pracują i nie troszczą się o swój ubiór. 29 A zapewniam was, że nawet król Salomon, w całym swym przepychu, nie był tak pięknie ubrany jak one. 30 Jeśli więc Bóg tak wspaniale ubiera polne kwiaty, które dzisiaj kwitną, a jutro więdną i idą na spalenie, to czy tym bardziej nie zatroszczy się o was, nieufni?! 31 Nie martwcie się więc i nie powtarzajcie: Co będziemy jeść i pić? W co się ubierzemy? 32 O te sprawy zabiegają poganie. Wasz Ojciec w niebie dobrze wie, że tego potrzebujecie. 33 W pierwszej kolejności zabiegajcie o Jego królestwo i prawość, a wtedy Bóg zatroszczy się o pozostałe rzeczy. 34 Nie martwcie się więc o to, co będzie jutro, bo dzień jutrzejszy zatroszczy się o siebie. Dziś macie już wystarczająco wiele zmartwień.
