Korah’s Rebellion

1 Now Korah the son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men. (Ex 6:16; Ex 6:18; Ex 6:21; Nu 26:9; Nu 27:3; Jud 1:11) 

2 And they rose up before Moses, with a number of the people of Israel, 250 chiefs of the congregation, chosen from the assembly, well-known men. 

3 They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! For all in the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?” (Ex 19:6; Nu 16:7; Ps 106:16) 

4 When Moses heard it, he fell on his face, (Nu 14:5; Nu 20:6) 

5 and he said to Korah and all his company, “In the morning the LORD will show who is his, and who is holy, and will bring him near to him. The one whom he chooses he will bring near to him. (Ex 28:1; Le 10:3; Nu 3:10; Nu 16:3; Nu 17:5; 1Sa 2:28; Ps 65:4; Ps 105:26; Eze 40:46; Eze 44:15; Eze 44:16; 2Ti 2:19) 

6 Do this: take censers, Korah and all his company; (Le 10:1) 

7 put fire in them and put incense on them before the LORD tomorrow, and the man whom the LORD chooses shall be the holy one. You have gone too far, sons of Levi!” (Nu 16:3) 

8 And Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi: 

9 is it too small a thing for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do service in the tabernacle of the LORD and to stand before the congregation to minister to them, (Nu 8:14; Nu 16:13; De 10:8; 1Sa 18:23; Isa 7:13; Eze 16:20) 

10 and that he has brought you near him, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? And would you seek the priesthood also? 

11 Therefore it is against the LORD that you and all your company have gathered together. What is Aaron that you grumble against him?” (Ex 16:8; 1Co 3:5) 

12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and they said, “We will not come up. 

13 Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you must also make yourself a prince over us? (Ex 2:14; Ex 3:8; Nu 16:9; Ac 7:27; Ac 7:35) 

14 Moreover, you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up.” 

15 And Moses was very angry and said to the LORD, “Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, and I have not harmed one of them.” (Ge 4:4; Ge 4:5; 1Sa 12:3; Ac 20:33; 2Co 7:2) 

16 And Moses said to Korah, “Be present, you and all your company, before the LORD, you and they, and Aaron, tomorrow. (Ex 16:9; 1Sa 12:3; 1Sa 12:7) 

17 And let every one of you take his censer and put incense on it, and every one of you bring before the LORD his censer, 250 censers; you also, and Aaron, each his censer.” (Nu 16:6; Nu 16:35) 

18 So every man took his censer and put fire in them and laid incense on them and stood at the entrance of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron. 

19 Then Korah assembled all the congregation against them at the entrance of the tent of meeting. And the glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation. (Le 9:23) 

20 And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 

21 “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.” (Ge 19:17; Ge 19:22; Ex 33:5; Nu 16:45; Ps 73:19; Jer 51:6; Re 18:4) 

22 And they fell on their faces and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?” (Ge 18:23; Nu 14:5; Nu 16:45; Nu 20:6; Nu 27:16; 2Sa 24:17; Job 12:10; Ec 12:7; Isa 57:16; Zec 12:1) 

23 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 

24 “Say to the congregation, Get away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.” 

25 Then Moses rose and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him. 

26 And he spoke to the congregation, saying, “Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins.” (Ge 19:12; Isa 52:11; 2Co 6:17; Re 18:4) 

27 So they got away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. And Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, together with their wives, their sons, and their little ones. (Ex 33:8) 

28 And Moses said, “Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works, and that it has not been of my own accord. (Jer 23:16; Eze 13:2; Eze 13:17) 

29 If these men die as all men die, or if they are visited by the fate of all mankind, then the LORD has not sent me. (1Ki 22:28) 

30 But if the LORD creates something new, and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into Sheol, then you shall know that these men have despised the LORD.” (Ge 4:11; Nu 16:33; Ps 55:15) 

31 And as soon as he had finished speaking all these words, the ground under them split apart. (Nu 26:10; Nu 27:3; De 11:6; Ps 106:17) 

32 And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the people who belonged to Korah and all their goods. (Nu 26:11; 1Ch 6:22; 1Ch 6:27) 

33 So they and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol, and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly. (Jud 1:11) 

34 And all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up!” 

35 And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men offering the incense. (Nu 11:1; Nu 16:17) 

36  Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 

37 “Tell Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest to take up the censers out of the blaze. Then scatter the fire far and wide, for they have become holy. 

38 As for the censers of these men who have sinned at the cost of their lives, let them be made into hammered plates as a covering for the altar, for they offered them before the LORD, and they became holy. Thus they shall be a sign to the people of Israel.” (Nu 17:10; Nu 26:10; 1Ki 2:23; Pr 20:2; Hab 2:10) 

39 So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers, which those who were burned had offered, and they were hammered out as a covering for the altar, 

40 to be a reminder to the people of Israel, so that no outsider, who is not of the descendants of Aaron, should draw near to burn incense before the LORD, lest he become like Korah and his company—as the LORD said to him through Moses. (Nu 3:10; 2Ch 26:18) 

41 But on the next day all the congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed the people of the LORD.” (Nu 14:2) 

42 And when the congregation had assembled against Moses and against Aaron, they turned toward the tent of meeting. And behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared. (Ex 40:34; Le 9:23; Nu 16:19) 

43 And Moses and Aaron came to the front of the tent of meeting, 

44 and the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 

45 “Get away from the midst of this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.” And they fell on their faces. (Nu 16:21; Nu 16:22) 

46 And Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, and put fire on it from off the altar and lay incense on it and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for wrath has gone out from the LORD; the plague has begun.” (Le 10:6; Nu 8:19; Nu 11:33; 1Ch 27:24) 

47 So Aaron took it as Moses said and ran into the midst of the assembly. And behold, the plague had already begun among the people. And he put on the incense and made atonement for the people. 

48 And he stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was stopped. (Nu 16:50; Nu 25:8; 2Sa 24:25; Ps 106:30) 

49 Now those who died in the plague were 14,700, besides those who died in the affair of Korah. (Nu 27:3) 

50 And Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance of the tent of meeting, when the plague was stopped.

1 可拉是利未的曾孙、哥辖的孙子、以斯哈的儿子。他跟吕便支派以利押的两个儿子大坍和亚比兰以及比勒的儿子安心中狂妄， 

2 联合二百五十名在以色列会众中有声望的首领反叛摩西， 

3 一起攻击摩西和亚伦，说：“你们太过分了！全体会众都是圣洁的，有耶和华住在他们当中，你们凭什么将自己置于耶和华的会众之上？” 

4 摩西听了这话，就俯伏在地， 

5 对可拉一伙人说：“到了明天早上，耶和华必显明谁是属于祂的，谁是圣洁的。祂必让祂所拣选的人到祂面前。 

6 可拉啊，你们要这样做，你和你的同伙明天带香炉来， 

7 在耶和华面前点火添香。耶和华拣选谁，谁就是圣洁的。你们利未人太过分了！” 

8 摩西又对可拉说：“利未人啊，你们听我说！ 

9 以色列的上帝把你们从以色列会众中分别出来，使你们可以到祂面前，在祂的圣幕里司职，替会众办事，你们还不满足吗？ 

10 可拉啊，耶和华使你和其他利未人事奉祂，你们还不满足，还要贪求祭司的职分吗？ 

11 其实你和你的同伙合谋反叛的是耶和华，而不是亚伦。” 

12 摩西派人去召以利押的儿子大坍和亚比兰，他们却说：“我们不去！ 

13 你带我们离开奶蜜之乡，要让我们死在旷野，这还不够吗？你还想自立为王管辖我们吗？ 

14 你并没有领我们到奶蜜之乡，也没有给我们田地和葡萄园作产业，你还想继续蒙骗我们吗？我们不去！” 

15 摩西非常愤怒，就对耶和华说：“求你不要接纳他们的祭物。我没有取过他们一头驴，也没有害过他们任何人。” 

16 摩西对可拉说：“明天你和你的同伙要跟亚伦一起站在耶和华面前。 

17 每人要拿一个香炉，放上香，带到耶和华面前，共二百五十个。你和亚伦也要各拿一个香炉。” 

18 于是，他们都拿着香炉，盛着火和香，跟摩西和亚伦一起站在会幕门口。 

19 可拉把全体会众招聚到会幕门口，要对付摩西和亚伦。这时，耶和华的荣光向会众显现。 

20 耶和华对摩西和亚伦说： 

21 “你们离开这些会众，我好在顷刻之间消灭他们。” 

22 摩西和亚伦就伏在地上说：“上帝啊，赐人生命的上帝啊！一人犯罪，你就要向全体会众发怒吗？” 

23 耶和华对摩西说： 

24 “你叫会众离可拉、大坍和亚比兰的帐篷远一点。” 

25 于是，摩西起来去大坍和亚比兰那里，以色列的长老也跟着他。 

26 他对会众说：“你们离这些恶人的帐篷远一点，不要碰他们的任何东西，免得你们因他们的罪而受牵连，同遭毁灭。” 

27 会众便离开可拉、大坍和亚比兰的帐篷。大坍和亚比兰带着妻小出来，站在自己的帐篷门口。 

28 摩西对会众说：“你们很快就知道，我所做的事都是奉耶和华之命而行，并非出于私意。 

29 如果这些人像常人一样死去，遭遇跟世人无异，我就不是耶和华派来的。 

30 但如果耶和华做一件前所未有的事，使地裂开，吞下他们和属于他们的一切，使他们活生生地坠入阴间，你们就知道这些人藐视耶和华了。” 

31 摩西的话刚说完，这些人脚下的地就裂开， 

32 吞下了他们和他们的家眷及所有可拉一伙的人和财物。 

33 他们和属于他们的一切就这样活活地坠入阴间，地在他们上面合拢起来，他们就从会众中灭亡了。 

34 他们四围的以色列人听到他们的喊叫声，纷纷逃跑，生怕自己也被吞下去。 

35 耶和华又降下烈火，烧死了那二百五十个献香的人。 

36 耶和华对摩西说： 

37 “你叫亚伦祭司的儿子以利亚撒去从火中把香炉捡起来，把炭火撒在远处，因为那些香炉是圣洁的。 

38 要把那些因犯罪而丧命之人的香炉打成薄片，用来包祭坛，因为那些香炉曾被献在耶和华面前，是圣洁的，并且可让以色列人引以为戒。” 

39 于是，以利亚撒祭司取来被烧死之人所献的铜香炉，叫人打成薄片用来包祭坛， 

40 让以色列人引以为戒，使亚伦子孙以外的人不致到耶和华面前烧香，以免像可拉及其同伙一样灭亡。这是按照耶和华借摩西的吩咐做的。 

41 第二天，以色列全体会众都埋怨摩西和亚伦说：“你们害死了耶和华的子民。” 

42 会众聚集起来反对摩西和亚伦，他们向会幕观看，忽然有云彩遮盖了会幕，耶和华的荣光显现了。 

43 摩西和亚伦来到会幕前， 

44 耶和华对摩西说： 

45 “你们离开这些会众，我好在顷刻之间消灭他们。”他们二人就俯伏在地。 

46 摩西对亚伦说：“取香炉来，里面放些坛上的火，添上香，赶快带到会众那里为他们赎罪，因为耶和华发怒了，瘟疫已经开始。” 

47 亚伦就照着摩西的吩咐取来香炉，跑到会众当中。那时瘟疫已经在人群中蔓延起来。他就在炉中放上香为民众赎罪。 

48 他站在活人和死人中间，瘟疫就止住了。 

49 除了在可拉事件中死亡的人以外，当天有一万四千七百人死于瘟疫。 

50 瘟疫止住后，亚伦便回到在会幕门口的摩西那里。

La rebelión de Coré

1 Coré ben Itsar, hijo de Coat, hijo de Leví, captó a Datán y a Abirán, hijos de Eliab, y a On ben Pelet, de los hijos de Rubén, 

2 y se rebelaron contra Moisés con doscientos cincuenta hombres de los hijos de Israel, jerarcas de la comunidad, miembros del consejo, varones de renombre. 

3 Se rebelaron contra Moisés y Aarón y les dijeron: ¡Ya basta de vosotros! Porque todos los de esta asamblea son santos, y YHVH también está en medio de ellos. ¿Por qué pues os enaltecéis sobre la congregación de YHVH? 

4 Y lo oyó Moisés, y cayó sobre su rostro, 

5 y habló a Coré y a todo su séquito, diciendo: Mañana YHVH hará saber quién le pertenece: al consagrado lo hará acercarse; al escogido lo aproximará a Él. 

6 Haced esto: Tomaos los incensarios Coré y todo tu séquito, 

7 y mañana, poned en ellos fuego y echad incienso en presencia de YHVH. Y sucederá que el hombre a quien YHVH escoja, ese será el santo. ¡Esto os será suficiente, oh hijos de Leví! 

8 Moisés dijo además a Coré: Oíd ahora, hijos de Leví: 

9 ¿Es poco para vosotros que el Dios de Israel os haya separado de la asamblea de Israel para aproximaros a Él para servir en la obra del Tabernáculo de YHVH, y manteneros al frente de la asamblea para ministrarles? 

10 A ti te hizo acercar, y contigo a todos tus hermanos, los hijos de Leví, pero ahora pretendéis también el sacerdocio. 

11 Tú pues, y todo tu séquito: Es contra YHVH que os habéis confabulado, pues, ¿qué es Aarón para que murmuréis contra él? 

12 Entonces Moisés envió a llamar a Datán y Abirán, hijos de Eliab, pero ellos dijeron: No subiremos. 

13 ¿Es poco que nos hayas hecho subir de una tierra que fluye leche y miel para hacernos morir en el desierto, y que además pretendas dominar sobre nosotros de manera absoluta? 

14 Tampoco nos has introducido a la tierra que fluye leche y miel, ni nos has dado en heredad campos y vides, ¿pretendes arrancar los ojos de esta gente? ¡No iremos! 

15 Entonces Moisés se enardeció en gran manera, y dijo a YHVH: No aceptes su ofrenda. Yo no he tomado de ellos ni un asno, y a ninguno de ellos he hecho mal. 

16 Después dijo Moisés a Coré: Tú y todo tu séquito presentaos mañana delante de YHVH. Tú, ellos, y Aarón, 

17 y tome cada uno su incensario y ponga incienso en ellos, y acercaos delante YHVH, cada uno con su incensario. Doscientos cincuenta incensarios, tú y Aarón, cada uno con su incensario. 

18 Entonces cada uno tomó su incensario, y pusieron en ellos fuego y echaron incienso, y se mantuvieron a la entrada de la Tienda de Reunión con Moisés y Aarón. 

19 Y Coré había hecho reunir contra ellos a toda la asamblea a la entrada de la Tienda de Reunión. Entonces la gloria de YHVH se mostró a toda la asamblea. 

20 Y habló YHVH a Moisés y a Aarón, diciendo: 

21 Separaos de en medio de esta asamblea, y los consumiré en un instante. 

22 Pero ellos cayeron sobre sus rostros, y dijeron: ¡Dios, Dios del espíritu de toda carne! ¿No es un solo hombre el que pecó? ¿Por qué te enojarás contra toda la congregación? 

23 Entonces YHVH habló a Moisés, diciendo: 

24 Habla a la asamblea, diciendo: Subid alrededor de la tienda de Coré, Datán y Abirán. 

25 Y Moisés se levantó y fue a Datán y Abirán, y los ancianos de Israel fueron tras él. 

26 Y habló a la asamblea, diciendo: ¡Apartaos ahora de las tiendas de estos hombres malvados, y no toquéis nada suyo, para que no seáis barridos con todos sus pecados! 

27 Entonces se apartaron de los alrededores de las tiendas de Coré, de Datán y de Abirán. Pero Datán y Abirán salieron erguidos a la entrada de sus tiendas, con sus mujeres, sus hijos y sus pequeños. 

28 Y dijo Moisés: En esto conoceréis que YHVH me envió para hacer todas estas obras, y que no son de mi corazón: 

29 Si éstos llegan a morir como muere cualquier hombre, y si son sentenciados como se sentencia a cualquier hombre, entonces YHVH no me ha enviado. 

30 Pero si YHVH crea algo extraño, y la tierra abre su boca y se los traga con todas sus cosas, y descienden vivos al Seol, entonces conoceréis que estos hombres despreciaron a YHVH. 

31 Y aconteció que al terminar de hablar todas estas palabras, el suelo que estaba debajo ellos fue partido, 

32 y la tierra abrió su boca, y se los tragó a ellos y a sus familias, y a todo hombre que estaba de parte de Coré, y a todas sus pertenencias. 

33 Y ellos, con todo lo que poseían, descendieron vivos al Seol, y los cubrió la tierra, y desaparecieron de en medio de la congregación. 

34 Y todos los israelitas que estaban alrededor de ellos huyeron ante sus gritos, pues decían: ¡No sea que la tierra nos trague a nosotros! 

35 Y salió fuego de YHVH que consumió a los doscientos cincuenta hombres que ofrecían el incienso. 

36 Entonces YHVH habló a Moisés, diciendo: 

37 Di a Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón, que recoja los incensarios de entre el incendio, porque están consagrados, y esparce allí las brasas. 

38 Con los incensarios de los que pecaron contra sus almas, harán planchas martilladas para recubrir el altar, por cuanto los acercaron ante YHVH y están consagrados. Serán, pues, por señal a los hijos de Israel. 

39 Entonces el sacerdote Eleazar tomó los incensarios de bronce con los cuales se habían acercado los que habían sido incinerados, y los laminaron para recubrir el altar 

40 como recuerdo para los hijos de Israel de que ningún extraño, que no fuera de la descendencia de Aarón, podía ofrecer incienso ante YHVH, y no llegara a ser como Coré y como su séquito, conforme YHVH había hablado por medio de Moisés. 

41 Al día siguiente, sin embargo, toda la asamblea de los hijos de Israel murmuró contra Moisés y Aarón, diciendo: ¡Vosotros estáis haciendo morir al pueblo de YHVH! 

42 Y aconteció que al congregarse la asamblea contra Moisés y Aarón, se volvieron hacia la Tienda de Reunión, y he aquí la nube la había cubierto, y la gloria de YHVH se mostró. 

43 Entonces Moisés y Aarón se dirigieron hacia el frente de la Tienda de Reunión, 

44 y habló YHVH a Moisés, diciendo: 

45 ¡Apartaos de en medio de esta asamblea y los consumiré en un instante! Pero ellos cayeron sobre sus rostros, 

46 y dijo Moisés a Aarón: ¡Toma el incensario y ponle fuego del altar y encima ponle incienso! ¡Apresúrate y ve hacia la congregación y haz expiación por ellos, porque la ira ha salido de la presencia de YHVH y la plaga ha comenzado! 

47 Entonces, tal como Moisés había hablado, Aarón tomó el incensario y corrió hacia el centro de la asamblea, y ¡he aquí la plaga había comenzado entre el pueblo! Pero él puso el incienso e hizo expiación a favor del pueblo, 

48 y al colocarse entre los muertos y los vivos, la plaga fue detenida. 

49 Sin embargo, los que murieron en aquella plaga fueron catorce mil setecientos, sin contar los muertos por el asunto de Coré. 

50 Y Aarón volvió adonde Moisés, a la puerta de la Tienda de Reunión, pues la plaga había sido detenida.
