1Und es geschah nach diesen Dingen, da stellte Gott den Abraham auf die Probe. Und er sprach zu ihm: Abraham! Und er sagte: Hier bin ich! (1Mo 15,1; 1Mo 37,13; 1Mo 46,2; 2Mo 3,4; 1Sam 3,4; Jes 6,8; Apg 9,10)2Und er sprach: Nimm deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, den du lieb hast, den Isaak, und ziehe hin in das Land Morija, und opfere ihn dort als Brandopfer auf einem der Berge, den ich dir nennen werde! (1Mo 21,3; 2Kön 3,27; 2Chr 3,1; Mt 3,17)3Da machte sich Abraham früh am Morgen auf, sattelte seinen Esel und nahm seine beiden Knechte mit sich und seinen Sohn Isaak. Er spaltete Holz zum Brandopfer und machte sich auf und ging an den Ort, den Gott ihm genannt hatte. (1Mo 21,14)4Am dritten Tag erhob Abraham seine Augen und sah den Ort von fern.5Da sagte Abraham zu seinen Knechten: Bleibt ihr mit dem Esel hier! Ich aber und der Junge wollen dorthin gehen und anbeten und zu euch zurückkehren.6Und Abraham nahm das Holz zum Brandopfer und legte es auf seinen Sohn Isaak, und in seine Hand nahm er das Feuer und das Messer. Und sie gingen beide miteinander. (2Kön 2,6)7Da sprach Isaak zu seinem Vater Abraham und sagte: Mein Vater! Und er sprach: Hier bin ich, mein Sohn. Und er sagte: Siehe, das Feuer und das Holz! Wo aber ist das Schaf zum Brandopfer?8Da sagte Abraham: Gott wird sich das Schaf zum Brandopfer ausersehen, mein Sohn. Und sie gingen beide miteinander. (2Kön 2,6)9Und sie kamen an den Ort, den Gott ihm genannt hatte. Und Abraham baute dort den Altar und schichtete das Holz auf. Dann band er seinen Sohn Isaak und legte ihn auf den Altar oben auf das Holz.10Und Abraham streckte seine Hand aus und nahm das Messer, um seinen Sohn zu schlachten. (Hebr 11,17; Jak 2,21)11Da rief ihm der Engel des HERRN vom Himmel her zu und sprach: Abraham, Abraham! Und er sagte: Hier bin ich! (1Mo 37,13; 1Mo 46,2; 2Mo 3,4; Ri 2,1; 1Sam 3,4; Jes 6,8; Apg 9,10)12Und er sprach: Strecke deine Hand nicht aus nach dem Jungen, und tu ihm nichts! Denn nun habe ich erkannt, dass du Gott fürchtest, da du deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, mir nicht vorenthalten hast.13Und Abraham erhob seine Augen und sah; und siehe, da war ein Widder hinten im Gestrüpp an seinen Hörnern festgehalten. Da ging Abraham hin, nahm den Widder und opferte ihn anstelle seines Sohnes als Brandopfer.14Und Abraham gab diesem Ort den Namen »Der HERR wird ersehen[1]«, von dem man heute ⟨noch⟩ sagt: Auf dem Berg des HERRN wird ersehen[2].15Und der Engel des HERRN rief Abraham ein zweites Mal vom Himmel her zu (1Mo 31,11; 1Mo 48,16)16und sprach: Ich schwöre bei mir selbst, spricht der HERR[3], deshalb, weil du das getan und deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, ⟨mir⟩ nicht vorenthalten hast, (Jes 45,23; Jer 22,5; Mi 7,20; Lk 1,73)17darum werde ich dich reichlich segnen und deine Nachkommen überaus zahlreich machen wie die Sterne des Himmels und wie der Sand, der am Ufer des Meeres ist; und deine Nachkommenschaft wird das Tor ihrer Feinde in Besitz nehmen. (1Mo 13,16; 1Mo 15,5; 1Mo 24,60; 1Mo 26,4; 1Mo 27,29; 1Mo 32,13; 2Mo 32,13; 5Mo 1,10; 5Mo 13,18; 2Sam 17,11; 1Kön 4,20; 1Chr 27,23; Neh 9,23; Jes 48,19; Hos 2,1; Lk 1,73; Hebr 6,13; Hebr 11,12)18Und in deinem Samen[4] werden sich segnen alle Nationen der Erde dafür, dass du meiner Stimme gehorcht hast. (1Mo 12,2; 1Mo 26,4; 1Mo 26,5; Jer 4,2; Apg 3,25; Röm 4,13; Gal 3,16)19Dann kehrte Abraham zu seinen Knechten zurück, und sie machten sich auf und zogen miteinander nach Beerscheba; und Abraham ließ sich in Beerscheba nieder.
Nachkommen Nahors
20Und es geschah nach diesen Dingen, da wurde dem Abraham berichtet: Siehe, Milka, auch sie hat deinem Bruder Nahor Söhne geboren: (1Mo 11,27; 1Mo 15,1)21Uz, seinen Erstgeborenen, und dessen Bruder Bus und Kemuël, den Vater Arams, (Jer 25,20)22und Kesed und Haso und Pildasch und Jidlaf und Betuël.23Betuël aber zeugte Rebekka. Diese acht gebar Milka dem Nahor, Abrahams Bruder. (1Mo 24,15; 1Mo 25,20)24Und seine Nebenfrau, namens Rehuma, auch sie gebar, ⟨nämlich⟩ Tebach und Gaham und Tahasch und Maacha.
1Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, ‘Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ Abraham replied.2Then God said, ‘Take your son, your only son. He is the one you love. Take Isaac. Go to the place called Moriah. Give your son to me there as a burnt offering. Sacrifice him on the mountain I will show you.’3Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took two of his servants and his son Isaac with him. He cut enough wood for the burnt offering. Then he started out for the place God had shown him.4On the third day Abraham saw the place a long way off.5He said to his servants, ‘Stay here with the donkey. I and the boy will go over there and worship. Then we’ll come back to you.’6Abraham had his son Isaac carry the wood for the burnt offering. He himself carried the fire and the knife. And the two of them walked on together.7Then Isaac said to his father Abraham, ‘Father?’ ‘Yes, my son?’ Abraham replied. ‘The fire and wood are here,’ Isaac said. ‘But where is the lamb for the burnt offering?’8Abraham answered, ‘God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.’ And the two of them walked on together.9They reached the place God had shown Abraham. There Abraham built an altar. He arranged the wood on it. He tied up his son Isaac. Abraham placed him on the altar, on top of the wood.10Then he reached out his hand. He picked up the knife to kill his son.11But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven. He said, ‘Abraham! Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ Abraham replied.12‘Do not lay a hand on the boy,’ he said. ‘Do not harm him. Now I know that you would do anything for God. You have not held back from me your son, your only son.’13Abraham looked round. There in a bush he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram. He sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.14So Abraham named that place The LORD Will Provide. To this day people say, ‘It will be provided on the mountain of the LORD.’15The angel of the LORD called out to Abraham from heaven a second time.16He said, ‘I am giving you my word that I will bless you. I will bless you because of what you have done,’ announces the LORD. ‘You have not held back your son, your only son.17So I will certainly bless you. I will make the children born into your family as many as the stars in the sky. I will make them as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. They will take over the cities of their enemies.18All nations on earth will be blessed because of your children. All these things will happen because you have obeyed me.’19Then Abraham returned to his servants. They started out together for Beersheba. And Abraham stayed in Beersheba.
Nahor’s sons
20Some time later Abraham was told, ‘Milkah has become a mother. She has had sons by your brother Nahor.21Uz was born first. Then came his brother Buz. Kemuel was born next. He became the father of Aram.22Milkah’s other sons are Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph and Bethuel.’23Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milkah had the eight sons by Abraham’s brother Nahor.24Nahor had a concubine named Reumah. She also had sons. They were Tebah, Gaham, Tahash and Maakah.
