1 След това Исус събра всичките израилски племена в Сихем и свика старейшините на Израил, началниците им, съдиите им и надзирателите им; и те се представиха пред ГОСПОДА. (Бит 35:4; И Н 23:2; 1 Цар 10:10) 2 Исус каза на целия народ: Така говорѝ ГОСПОД, Израилевият Бог: В старо време отвъд реката живееха бащите ви, Тара, Авраамовият баща и Нахоровият баща, и служеха на други богове. (Бит 11:26; Бит 11:31; Бит 31:53) 3 И Аз взех баща ви Авраам от онази страна на реката, водих го през цялата ханаанска земя, умножих потомството му и му дадох Исаак. Затова и ние ще служим на ГОСПОДА, защото Той е нашият Бог. 19 Но Исус каза на народа: Няма да можете да служите на ГОСПОДА; защото Той е Бог пресвят; Той е Бог ревнив; няма да прости престъпленията и греховете ви. (Изх 20:5; Изх 23:21; Лев 19:2; 1 Цар 6:20; Пс 99:5; Пс 99:9; Ис 5:16; Мт 6:24) 20 Защото, ако изоставите ГОСПОДА и служите на чужди богове, тогава Той ще се обърне против вас, ще ви стори зло и ще ви изтреби въпреки доброто, което ви е сторил. (И Н 23:15; 1 Лет 28:9; 2 Лет 15:2; Езд 8:22; Ис 1:28; Ис 63:10; Ис 65:11; Ис 65:12; Ер 17:18; Д А 7:42) 21 А народът отговори на Исус: Не, а на ГОСПОДА ще служим. 22 Тогава Исус каза на народа: Вие сте свидетели за себе си, че си избрахте ГОСПОДА, за да Му служите (и те потвърдиха: Свидетели сме). (Пс 119:173) 23 И така, сега махнете чуждите богове, които са сред вас, и преклонете сърцата си към ГОСПОДА, Израилевия Бог. (Бит 35:2; И Н 24:14; Съд 10:16; 1 Цар 7:3) 24 А народът отвърна на Исус: На ГОСПОДА, нашия Бог, ще служим и Неговия глас ще слушаме. 25 И така, в същия ден Исус сключи завет с народа и му постави закон и постановление в Сихем. 1 Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and summoned the elders, the heads, the judges, and the officers of Israel. And they presented themselves before God. (И Н 23:2; И Н 24:25; 1 Цар 10:19) 2 And Joshua said to all the people, “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates,[1] Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods. (Бит 11:27; Бит 31:30; Бит 35:2) 3 Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the River[2] and led him through all the land of Canaan, and made his offspring many. I gave him Isaac. (Бит 12:1; Бит 12:6; Бит 21:2; Бит 21:3; Д А 7:2) 4 And to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. And I gave Esau the hill country of Seir to possess, but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt. And he sent and invited Balaam the son of Beor to curse you, (Чис 22:5; Вт 23:4; Съд 11:25) 10 but I would not listen to Balaam. Indeed, he blessed you. So I delivered you out of his hand. (Чис 23:11; Чис 23:20; Чис 24:1; Чис 24:10) 11 And you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho, and the leaders of Jericho fought against you, and also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And I gave them into your hand. (И Н 3:14; И Н 3:17; И Н 4:10; И Н 6:1; И Н 10:1; И Н 11:1) 12 And I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out before you, the two kings of the Amorites; it was not by your sword or by your bow. You eat the fruit of vineyards and olive orchards that you did not plant.’ (Вт 6:10; Вт 6:11; Вт 11:13) 14 “Now therefore fear the LORD and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. (Вт 10:12; И Н 24:2; 1 Цар 12:24) 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. Therefore we also will serve the LORD, for he is our God.” 19 But Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the LORD, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions or your sins. (Изх 15:25; 4 Цар 11:17; 2 Лет 23:16; Неем 9:38) 26 And Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large stone and set it up there under the terebinth that was by the sanctuary of the LORD. (Бит 28:18; Бит 35:4; Вт 31:24; И Н 4:3; Съд 9:6) 27 And Joshua said to all the people, “Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words of the LORD that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God.” (Бит 31:48; Бит 31:52; Вт 31:19; Вт 31:21; Вт 31:26; Вт 32:1; И Н 22:27; И Н 22:28; И Н 22:34) 28 So Joshua sent the people away, every man to his inheritance. (Съд 2:6) 29 After these things Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being 110 years old. (Съд 2:7) 30 And they buried him in his own inheritance at Timnath-serah, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, north of the mountain of Gaash. (И Н 19:50) 31 Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua and had known all the work that the LORD did for Israel. (Вт 11:2; Вт 31:13; Съд 2:7) 32 As for the bones of Joseph, which the people of Israel brought up from Egypt, they buried them at Shechem, in the piece of land that Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred pieces of money.[3] It became an inheritance of the descendants of Joseph. (Бит 33:19; Бит 50:25; Изх 13:19) 33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died, and they buried him at Gibeah, the town of Phinehas his son, which had been given him in the hill country of Ephraim.
