1Zhřešili pak synové Izraelští přestoupením při věcech proklatých; nebo Achan, syn Charmi, syna Zabdi, syna Záre, z pokolení Juda, vzal něco z věcí proklatých. Pročež rozpálila se prchlivost Hospodinova na syny Izraelské.2Nebo když poslal Jozue muže některé od Jericha do Hai, kteréž bylo blízko Betaven, k východní straně Bethel, a mluvil k nim, řka: Vstupte a shlédněte zemi, vstoupili tedy muži ti, a shlédli Hai.3Kteřížto navrátivše se k Jozue, řekli jemu: Nechť nevstupuje všecken lid tento, okolo dvou tisíc mužů neb okolo tří tisíců mužů nechť vstoupí, a dobudouť Hai; neobtěžuj všeho lidu, vysílaje jej tam, nebo málo jest oněchno.4Tedy vytáhlo jich z lidu tam okolo tří tisíc mužů, a utekli před muži města Hai.5I zabili z nich obyvatelé Hai okolo třidcíti a šesti mužů, a honili je od brány až k Sabarim, a porazili je, když s vrchu utíkali. I rozpustilo se srdce lidu, a bylo jako voda.6Tedy Jozue roztrhl roucho své, a padl tváří svou na zem před truhlou Hospodinovou, a ležel až do večera, ano i starší Izraelští, a sypali prach na hlavy své.7I řekl Jozue: Ach, Panovníče Hospodine, proč jsi kdy převedl lid tento přes Jordán, abys nás vydal v ruku Amorejského, tak aby nás zahubil? Ó kdybychom byli raději zůstali za Jordánem.8Ó Pane, což mám říci, když již lid Izraelský utíká před nepřátely svými?9Nebo uslyšíce Kananejští a všickni obyvatelé země, obklíčí nás vůkol, a vyhladí jméno naše z země. I což to učiníš jménu svému velikému?10I řekl Hospodin k Jozue: Vstaň. Proč jsi padl na tvář svou?11Zhřešil Izrael, tak že smlouvu mou přestoupili, kterouž jsem jim přikázal; nebo jsou i vzali z věcí proklatých, k tomu i ukradli, také i sklamali, nad to i odložili mezi nádobí svá.12Protož nebudou moci synové Izraelští ostáti před nepřátely svými, utíkati budou před nepřátely svými, nebo poškvrnili se věcí proklatou. Nebuduť více s vámi, leč vyhladíte prokletí to z prostředku svého.13Vstaň, posvěť lidu a rci: Posvěťte se k zítřku; nebo takto praví Hospodin Bůh Izraelský: Věc proklatá jest u prostřed tebe, Izraeli, nebudeš moci ostáti před nepřátely svými, dokudž neodejmeš prokletí toho z prostředku svého.14Protož přistupovati budete ráno po pokoleních svých, a pokolení, kteréž ukáže Hospodin, přistupovati bude po rodech, takž rod, kterýž ukáže Hospodin, přistupovati bude po domích, a dům, kterýž ukáže Hospodin, přistupovati bude po osobách.15Kdož pak postižen bude vinný věcí proklatou, ohněm spálen bude, on i všecko, což jeho jest, proto že přestoupil smlouvu Hospodinovu, a že učinil nešlechetnost v Izraeli.16Vstav tedy Jozue ráno, kázal přistupovati Izraelovi po pokoleních jejich. I postiženo jest pokolení Judovo.17Tedy když kázal přistupovati čeledem Juda, postižena jest čeled Záre. Potom kázal přistupovati čeledi Záre po osobách, a postižen jest Zabdi.18I kázal přistupovati domu jeho po osobách, i postižen jest Achan, syn Charmi, syna Zabdi, syna Záre z pokolení Judova.19I řekl Jozue Achanovi: Synu můj, dej, prosím, chválu Hospodinu Bohu Izraelskému, a vyznej se jemu, a oznam mi aspoň již, co jsi učinil, netaj již toho přede mnou.20Tedy odpovídaje Achan k Jozue, řekl: Pravdať jest, já jsem zhřešil proti Hospodinu Bohu Izraelskému, tak že to a toto jsem učinil.21Viděl jsem mezi loupeží plášť jeden Babylonský pěkný, a dvě stě lotů stříbra, a prut zlatý jeden, padesáte lotů ztíží, čehož požádav, vzal jsem to, a aj, jsou ty věci skryté v zemi prostřed stanu mého, a stříbro pod tím.22Tedy poslal Jozue posly, kteříž běželi do stanu, a aj, bylo to skryto v stanu jeho, a stříbro pod tím.23A vzavše to z stanu, přinesli k Jozue a ke všechněm synům Izraelským, a položili ty věci před Hospodinem.24Vzav tedy Jozue a všecken Izrael s ním Achana, syna Záre, a stříbro i plášť, i prut zlatý, i syny jeho, i dcery jeho, voly a osly, dobytek i stan jeho i všecko, což měl, vyvedli je do údolí Achor.25Kdež řekl Jozue: Proč jsi zkormoutil nás? Zkormutiž tebe Hospodin v tento den. I uházel jej všecken lid kamením, a spálili je ohněm, ukamenovavše je kamením.26Potom nametali naň hromadu kamení velikou, kteráž trvá až do tohoto dne; a tak odvrácen jest Hospodin od hněvu prchlivosti své. Protož nazváno jest jméno místa toho údolí Achor, až do dnešního dne.
— Akánova krádež - Akán přestoupil příkaz o klatbě, uvrhl Izraele do nebezpečí a je potrestán.
1 Izraelci se při provádění klatby dopustili zpronevěry. Akán, syn Karmího, syna Zabdího, syna Zerachova z pokolení Judova, vzal něco z věcí propadlých klatbě. Proto vzplanul Hospodin proti Izraelcům hněvem. 2 Jozue vyslal muže z Jericha do Aje, který byl u Bét-ávenu, na východ od Bét-elu, a řekl jim: „Jděte do té země na výzvědy!“ Muži tedy šli na výzvědy do Aje.3 Když se vrátili k Jozuovi, hlásili mu: „Není třeba, aby táhl všechen lid. Ať vytáhnou jen dva nebo tři tisíce mužů a přepadnou Aj. Nezatěžuj tím všechen lid, vždyť jich je málo.“4 I vydalo se tam z lidu na tři tisíce mužů, ale museli před ajskými muži utéci.5 Ajští mužové z nich pobili asi třicet šest mužů. Pronásledovali je před branou až k lomům a na stráni je pobíjeli. Lid ztratil odvahu, rozplynula se jako voda.6 Tu roztrhl Jozue své roucho, padl před Hospodinovou schránou tváří k zemi, ležel tak až do večera spolu s izraelskými staršími a házeli si prach na hlavu.7 Jozue lkal: „Ach, Panovníku Hospodine, proč jsi vlastně převedl tento lid přes Jordán? Chceš nás vydat do rukou Emorejců, aby nás zahubili? Kéž bychom byli raději zůstali na druhé straně Jordánu!8 Dovol prosím, Panovníku, co mám říci, když se Izrael dal na útěk před svými nepřáteli?9 Až to uslyší Kenaanci a ostatní obyvatelé země, obklíčí nás a vyhladí naše jméno ze země. Co pak učiníš pro své veliké jméno?“ 10 Hospodin řekl Jozuovi: „Vstaň! Co je s tebou, že jsi padl na tvář?11 Izrael zhřešil. Přestoupili mou smlouvu, kterou jsem jim vydal. Vzali z věcí propadlých klatbě, kradli, zatajili to a uložili mezi své věci.12 Proto nemohou Izraelci před svými nepřáteli obstát a obracejí se před svými nepřáteli na útěk, protože sami propadli klatbě. Nebudu už s vámi, jestliže ze svého středu nevymýtíte to, co propadlo klatbě.13 Vzhůru, posvěť lid a vyzvi jej: ‚Posvěťte se na zítřek! Toto praví Hospodin, Bůh Izraele: Uprostřed tebe je něco, co propadlo klatbě, Izraeli! Nemůžeš obstát před svými nepřáteli, dokud to, co propadlo klatbě, neodstraníte ze svého středu.14 Ráno budete přistupovat po kmenech. Kmen, který Hospodin označí, bude přistupovat po čeledích. Čeleď, kterou Hospodin označí, bude přistupovat po domech. Dům, který Hospodin označí, bude přistupovat po mužích.15 Ten, kdo bude označen, že si přisvojil věc propadlou klatbě, bude spálen se vším, co mu patří, protože přestoupil Hospodinovu smlouvu a dopustil se v Izraeli hanebnosti.‘“ 16 Za časného jitra rozkázal Jozue Izraeli přistupovat po kmenech. Losem byl označen kmen Judův.17 Rozkázal, aby přistupovala judská čeleď. Označena byla čeleď Zerachejců. Rozkázal, aby přistupovala zerašská čeleď po mužích. Označen byl Zabdí.18 Pak rozkázal, aby přistupoval jeho dům po mužích. Označen byl Akán, syn Karmího, syna Zabdího, syna Zerachova z pokolení Judova.19Tu vyzval Jozue Akána: „Synu, přiznej slávu Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele, a vzdej mu chválu. Doznej se mi, co jsi učinil; nic přede mnou nezapírej!“20 Akán odpověděl Jozuovi: „Ano, zhřešil jsem proti Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele; učinil jsem toto:21 Viděl jsem mezi kořistí jeden pěkný šineárský plášť, dvě stě šekelů stříbra a jeden zlatý jazyk o váze padesáti šekelů. Vzplanul jsem žádostí a vzal jsem si to. Je to ukryto v zemi uvnitř mého stanu a stříbro je vespod.“22 Jozue poslal posly, ti běželi do stanu, a hle, bylo to ukryto v jeho stanu a stříbro bylo vespod.23 Vzali ty věci ze stanu, přinesli k Jozuovi a všem Izraelcům a položili je před Hospodina.24 Za účasti všeho Izraele vzal Jozue Akána, syna Zerachova, i stříbro, plášť a zlatý jazyk, i jeho syny a dcery, býky a osly, jeho brav i stan a všechno, co mu patřilo, a ubírali se s tím vzhůru do doliny Akóru.25 Jozue řekl: „Zkázu, kterou jsi uvalil na nás, nechť uvalí Hospodin v tento den na tebe.“ Všechen Izrael jej kamenoval; spálili je a zaházeli je kamením.26Navršili nad ním velkou hromadu kamení; je tam až dodnes. A Hospodin upustil od svého planoucího hněvu. Proto se to místo jmenuje Emek Akór (to je Dolina zkázy) až dodnes.
1Synové Izraele se ale provinili porušením klatby. Achan, syn Karmiho, syna Zimriho,[1] syna Zerachova z pokolení Juda, vzal něco z věcí propadlých klatbě, a Hospodin vzplanul proti synům Izraele hněvem.2Jozue totiž z Jericha vyslal muže do místa zvaného Aj (jež leží u Bet-avenu východně od Bet-elu) a řekl jim, ať jdou prozkoumat tu zem. Muži tedy šli a prozkoumali Aj.3Když se vrátili k Jozuovi, řekli mu: „Není potřeba, aby se tam vypravoval všechen lid. Stačí, když vytáhnou dva nebo tři tisíce mužů a obyvatele Aj pobijí. Nezatěžuj všechen lid, vždyť je jich tam málo.“4A tak z lidu vytáhlo asi tři tisíce mužů, ale museli se před ajskými dát na útěk.5Ajští muži z nich pobili asi třicet šest; pronásledovali je od brány až k lomům a na stráni je pobíjeli. Lid tehdy ztratil odvahu, rozplynula se jako voda.6Jozue roztrhl svůj plášť, padl před Hospodinovou truhlou tváří na zem, zůstal tak až do večera spolu se stařešiny Izraele a sypali si na hlavu prach.7Ach, Pane můj, Hospodine!“ řekl Jozue, „Proč jsi vůbec převáděl tento lid přes Jordán? Abys nás vydal do rukou Emorejců? Abys nás zahubil? Mohlo nám přece stačit, abychom se usadili za Jordánem!8Odpusť, Pane můj, ale co mám říci, když se Izrael před svými nepřáteli dal na útěk!9Až to uslyší Kanaánci a všichni obyvatelé této země, obklíčí nás a vyhladí naše jméno ze země! Co pro své veliké jméno uděláš pak?“10„Vstaň!“ odpověděl Hospodin Jozuovi. „Proč tu ležíš na tváři?11Izrael zhřešil. Porušili mou smlouvu, kterou jsem jim vydal. Vzali něco z věcí, které propadly klatbě – ukradli to, zatajili a uložili mezi své věci!12Proto synové Izraele nemohou obstát před svými nepřáteli a obrací se před nimi na útěk, protože té klatbě propadli sami. Nebudu už s vámi, pokud to proklaté neodstraníte ze svého středu!13Vstaň, posvěť lid a řekni jim: ‚Posvěťte se pro zítřek. Neboť toto praví Hospodin, Bůh Izraele: Proklaté je ve tvém středu, Izraeli! Nebudeš moci obstát před svými nepřáteli, dokud to proklaté neodstraníte ze svého středu.14Proto budete ráno přistupovat po kmenech. Ten kmen, který Hospodin zadrží, bude přistupovat po rodech. Rod, který Hospodin zadrží, bude přistupovat po jednotlivých rodinách. Rodina, kterou Hospodin zadrží, bude přistupovat po mužích.15Kdo bude zadržen s věcmi propadlými klatbě, bude upálen se vším, co k němu patří, neboť porušil Hospodinovu smlouvu a spáchal v Izraeli hanebnost.‘“16Časně ráno pak Jozue nechal Izrael předstupovat po kmenech. Los označil kmen Juda.17Nechal tedy předstupovat judské rody a označen byl rod Zerachův. Když nechal předstupovat Zerachův rod po rodinách,[2] byl označen Zimri.18Nechal tedy přistupovat jeho rodinu po mužích a označen byl Achan, syn Karmiho, syna Zimriho, syna Zerachova z pokolení Juda.19„Synu můj,“ řekl Jozue Achanovi, „vzdej slávu Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele, a vyznej před ním pravdu. Pověz mi, co jsi provedl; netaj to přede mnou.“20„Je to pravda. Zhřešil jsem proti Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele,“ odpověděl mu Achan. „Provedl jsem toto:21Mezi kořistí jsem uviděl jeden krásný babylonský[3] plášť, dvě stě šekelů stříbra[4] a jednu zlatou cihlu o váze padesát šekelů.[5] Zatoužil jsem po tom a vzal jsem si to. Tamhle to je, schované v zemi uvnitř mého stanu; stříbro je pod tím.“22Jozue vyslal posly, ti se rozeběhli ke stanu a hle – bylo to ukryto u něj ve stanu a stříbro pod tím.23Vzali to tedy ze stanu, přinesli k Jozuovi a všem synům Izraele a vysypali vše před Hospodinem.24Jozue s celým Izraelem pak vzal Achana, syna Zerachova, i to stříbro, plášť a zlatou cihlu a také jeho syny a dcery i jeho skot, osly, ovce a kozy i jeho stan a všechno, co k němu patřilo, a odnesli to všechno do rokle Achor.25Tam Jozue zvolal: „Proč jsi nás přivedl do neštěstí? Hospodin dnes přivede do neštěstí tebe!“ A celý Izrael ho tam ukamenoval. Spálili je a zaházeli kamením.26Navršili nad ním velikou hromadu kamení, která je tam až dodnes. Tehdy se Hospodin odvrátil od svého planoucího hněvu, a to místo se proto až dodnes jmenuje Emek-achor, Rokle neštěstí.

Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN über die Israeliten.2Josua schickte von Jericho aus einige Männer nach Ai, das bei Bet-Awen, östlich von Bet-El liegt, und sagte zu ihnen: Geht hinauf und erkundet das Land! Die Männer gingen hinauf und erkundeten Ai.[1] (Oz 4,15; Am 5,5)3Als sie zu Josua zurückkamen, sagten sie zu ihm: Es braucht nicht das ganze Volk hinaufzuziehen. Etwa zwei- oder dreitausend Mann sollen hinaufziehen; sie werden Ai schlagen. Bemüh nicht das ganze Volk dorthin! Denn ihrer sind nur wenige.4So stiegen vom Volk etwa dreitausend Mann nach Ai hinauf; doch sie flohen vor den Männern von Ai.5Die Männer von Ai erschlugen etwa sechsunddreißig Mann; und sie verfolgten sie vom Stadttor bis zu den Steinbrüchen und schlugen sie an der Steige. Da zerschmolz das Herz des Volkes und wurde zu Wasser.6Josua zerriss seine Kleider und warf sich zusammen mit den Ältesten Israels vor der Lade des HERRN mit dem Gesicht zu Boden bis zum Abend. Sie streuten sich Staub auf das Haupt7und Josua sagte: Ach, Herr und GOTT! Warum hast du denn dieses Volk den Jordan überschreiten lassen? Um uns in die Hand der Amoriter zu geben, damit sie uns vernichten? Hätten wir uns doch dazu entschlossen, jenseits des Jordan zu bleiben!8Ach Herr, was soll ich sagen, nachdem Israel seinen Feinden den Rücken gezeigt hat?9Das werden die Kanaaniter und alle Bewohner des Landes hören und sie werden uns umzingeln und unseren Namen aus dem ganzen Land ausmerzen. Was willst du dann für deinen großen Namen tun?10Da sagte der HERR zu Josua: Steh auf! Warum fällst du auf dein Angesicht?11Israel hat gesündigt. Sogar meinen Bund, den ich ihnen geboten habe, haben sie übertreten. Weggenommen haben sie vom Banngut, gestohlen haben sie es, unterschlagen und zu ihren eigenen Sachen gelegt.12Deshalb können die Israeliten ihren Feinden nicht mehr standhalten und müssen ihren Feinden den Rücken zeigen; denn sie sind dem Bann verfallen. Ich werde nicht mehr mit euch sein, wenn ihr das Banngut nicht aus eurer Mitte beseitigt.13Auf! Heilige das Volk und sag: Heiligt euch für morgen! Denn so hat der HERR, der Gott Israels, gesprochen: Banngut ist in deiner Mitte, Israel. Du kannst deinen Feinden nicht standhalten, solange ihr das Banngut nicht aus eurer Mitte entfernt habt.14Morgen sollt ihr Stamm für Stamm antreten und der Stamm, den der HERR bezeichnet, soll Sippe für Sippe antreten und die Sippe, die der HERR dann bezeichnet, soll Großfamilie für Großfamilie antreten und die Großfamilie, die der HERR dann bezeichnet, soll Mann für Mann antreten.15Wer mit dem Banngut aufgegriffen wird, der soll mit allem, was er hat, verbrannt werden, weil er den Bund des HERRN übertreten und in Israel eine Schandtat verübt hat.16Josua ließ früh am Morgen Israel Stamm für Stamm antreten; da wurde der Stamm Juda bezeichnet. (1S 10,20)17Dann ließ er die Sippen Judas antreten; da wurde die Sippe der Serachiter bezeichnet. Dann ließ er die Sippe der Serachiter nach Großfamilien antreten; da wurde Sabdi bezeichnet.18Dann ließ er dessen Familie Mann für Mann antreten; da wurde Achan, der Sohn Karmis, der Enkel Sabdis, des Sohnes Serachs, vom Stamm Juda bezeichnet.19Josua sagte zu Achan: Mein Sohn, gib dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, die Ehre und leg vor ihm ein Geständnis ab! Sag mir offen, was du getan hast, und verheimliche mir nichts!20Achan antwortete Josua: Es ist wahr, ich habe mich gegen den HERRN, den Gott Israels, versündigt. Das ist es, was ich getan habe:21Ich sah unter der Beute einen schönen Mantel aus Schinar, außerdem zweihundert Schekel Silber und einen Goldbarren, der fünfzig Schekel wog. Ich wollte es haben und nahm es an mich. Es ist in meinem Zelt im Boden vergraben, das Silber an unterster Stelle.22Josua schickte Boten und sie liefen zum Zelt, und wirklich: Die Sachen waren im Zelt Achans vergraben, das Silber an unterster Stelle.23Sie holten alles aus dem Zelt heraus, brachten es zu Josua und allen Israeliten und breiteten es vor dem HERRN aus.24Da nahm Josua Achan, den Sohn Serachs, ebenso das Silber und den Mantel und den Goldbarren, seine Söhne und Töchter, sein Rind, seinen Esel und sein Schaf und seine Ziege, sein Zelt und seine ganze Habe. Er und ganz Israel brachten alles ins Tal Achor.25Dann sagte Josua: Womit du uns ins Unglück gestürzt hast, damit stürzt dich der HERR heute ins Unglück. Und ganz Israel steinigte ihn. Sie verbrannten sie im Feuer und steinigten sie.26Man errichtete über ihm einen großen Steinhaufen, der bis zum heutigen Tag zu sehen ist, und der HERR ließ ab von seinem glühenden Zorn. Deshalb nennt man diesen Ort bis heute Tal Achor.[2] (Iz 65,10; Oz 2,17)
1But the people of Israel broke faith in regard to the devoted things, for Achan the son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. And the anger of the Lord burned against the people of Israel. (Jz 22,20; 1Pa 2,6)2Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth-aven, east of Bethel, and said to them, “Go up and spy out the land.” And the men went up and spied out Ai. (Jz 18,12; 1S 13,5; 1S 14,23; Oz 4,15; Oz 5,8; Oz 10,5)3And they returned to Joshua and said to him, “Do not have all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not make the whole people toil up there, for they are few.”4So about three thousand men went up there from the people. And they fled before the men of Ai, (Lv 26,17; Dt 28,25)5and the men of Ai killed about thirty-six of their men and chased them before the gate as far as Shebarim and struck them at the descent. And the hearts of the people melted and became as water. (Jz 2,9; Jz 2,11)6Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until the evening, he and the elders of Israel. And they put dust on their heads. (Gn 37,29; Gn 37,34; Nu 14,5; Nu 14,6; 1S 4,12; 2S 1,11; 2S 13,31)7And Joshua said, “Alas, O Lord God, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to give us into the hands of the Amorites, to destroy us? Would that we had been content to dwell beyond the Jordan! (Ex 5,22; 2Kr 3,10)8O Lord, what can I say, when Israel has turned their backs before their enemies!9For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it and will surround us and cut off our name from the earth. And what will you do for your great name?” (Ž 83,4)
The Sin of Achan
10The Lord said to Joshua, “Get up! Why have you fallen on your face?11Israel has sinned; they have transgressed my covenant that I commanded them; they have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen and lied and put them among their own belongings. (Jz 6,17; Jz 7,15)12Therefore the people of Israel cannot stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction.[1] I will be with you no more, unless you destroy the devoted things from among you. (Nu 14,45; Jz 6,18; Jz 7,8; Jz 7,11; Sd 2,14)13Get up! Consecrate the people and say, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, God of Israel, “There are devoted things in your midst, O Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted things from among you.” (Jz 3,5)14In the morning therefore you shall be brought near by your tribes. And the tribe that the Lord takes by lot shall come near by clans. And the clan that the Lord takes shall come near by households. And the household that the Lord takes shall come near man by man. (1S 10,19)15And he who is taken with the devoted things shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and because he has done an outrageous thing in Israel.’” (Gn 34,7; Jz 7,11; Sd 20,6; 1S 14,38)16So Joshua rose early in the morning and brought Israel near tribe by tribe, and the tribe of Judah was taken.17And he brought near the clans of Judah, and the clan of the Zerahites was taken. And he brought near the clan of the Zerahites man by man, and Zabdi was taken. (Nu 26,20)18And he brought near his household man by man, and Achan the son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.19Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord God of Israel and give praise[2] to him. 1But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.2And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country.
