1To když pověděl Ježíš, vyšel s učedlníky svými přes potok Cedron, kdež byla zahrada; do kteréžto všel on i učedlníci jeho.2Věděl pak i Jidáš, zrádce jeho, to místo; nebo často chodíval tam Ježíš s učedlníky svými.3Protož Jidáš pojav s sebou zástup, a od předních kněží a farizeů služebníky, přišel tam s lucernami a s pochodněmi a s zbrojí.4Ježíš pak věda všecko, což přijíti mělo na něj, vyšed proti nim, řekl jim: Koho hledáte?5Odpověděli jemu: Ježíše Nazaretského. Řekl jim Ježíš: Jáť jsem. Stál pak s nimi i Jidáš, zrádce jeho.6A jakž řekl jim: Já jsem, postoupili nazpět, a padli na zem.7I otázal se jich opět: Koho hledáte? A oni řekli: Ježíše Nazaretského.8Odpověděl Ježíš: Pověděl jsem vám, že já jsem. Poněvadž tedy mne hledáte, nechtež těchto, ať odejdou.9Aby se naplnila řeč, kterouž byl pověděl: Že které jsi mi dal, neztratil jsem z nich žádného.10Tedy Šimon Petr, maje meč, vytrhl jej a udeřil služebníka nejvyššího kněze a uťal mu ucho jeho pravé. A bylo jméno služebníka toho Malchus.11I řekl Ježíš Petrovi: Schovej meč svůj do pošvy. Což nemám píti kalicha, kterýž mi dal Otec?12Tedy zástup a hejtman a služebníci Židovští jali Ježíše, a svázali jej.13A vedli ho k Annášovi nejprve; nebo byl test Kaifášův, kterýž byl nejvyšším knězem toho léta.14Kaifáš pak byl ten, kterýž byl radu dal Židům, že by užitečné bylo, aby člověk jeden umřel za lid.15Šel pak za Ježíšem Šimon Petr a jiný učedlník. A ten učedlník byl znám nejvyššímu knězi, i všel s Ježíšem do síně nejvyššího kněze.16Ale Petr stál u dveří vně. I vyšel ten druhý učedlník, kterýž byl znám nejvyššímu knězi, a promluvil s vrátnou, i uvedl tam Petra.17Tedy řekla Petrovi děvečka vrátná: Nejsi-liž i ty z učedlníků člověka toho? Řekl on: Nejsem.18Stáli pak tu služebníci a pacholci, kteříž oheň udělali, nebo zima bylo, i zhřívali se. A byl s nimi také i Petr, stoje tu a zhřívaje se.19Tedy nejvyšší kněz tázal se Ježíše o učedlnících jeho a o učení jeho.20Odpověděl jemu Ježíš: Já zjevně mluvil jsem světu, já vždycky učíval jsem v škole a v chrámě, kdežto se odevšad Židé scházejí, a tajně jsem nic nemluvil,21Co se mne ptáš? Ptej se těch, kteříž mne slýchali, co jsem jim mluvil. Aj, tiť vědí, co jsem já mluvil.22A když on to pověděl, jeden z služebníků, stoje tu, dal poliček Ježíšovi, řka: Tak-liž odpovídáš nejvyššímu knězi?23Odpověděl mu Ježíš: Mluvil-li jsem zle, svědectví vydej o zlém; pakli dobře, proč mne tepeš?24I poslal jej Annáš svázaného k Kaifášovi nejvyššímu knězi.25Stál pak Šimon Petr, a zhříval se. Tedy řekli jemu: Nejsi-liž i ty z učedlníků jeho? Zapřel on a řekl: Nejsem.26Dí jemu jeden z služebníků nejvyššího kněze, příbuzný toho, kterémuž Petr uťal ucho: Zdaž jsem já tebe neviděl s ním v zahradě?27Tedy Petr opět zapřel. A hned kohout zazpíval.28I vedli Ježíše od Kaifáše do radného domu, a bylo ráno. Oni pak nevešli do radného domu, aby se neposkvrnili, ale aby jedli beránka.29Tedy vyšel k nim Pilát ven a řekl: Jakou žalobu vedete proti člověku tomuto?30Odpověděli a řekli jemu: Byť tento nebyl zločinec, nedali bychom ho tobě.31I řekl jim Pilát: Vezměte vy jej, a podle Zákona vašeho suďte ho. I řekli mu Židé: Námť nesluší zabíti žádného.32Aby se řeč Ježíšova naplnila, kterouž řekl, znamenaje, kterou by smrtí měl umříti.33Tedy Pilát všel opět do radného domu, i povolal Ježíše a řekl jemu: Ty-li jsi Král Židovský?34Odpověděl Ježíš: Sám-li od sebe to pravíš, čili jiní tobě pověděli o mně?35Odpověděl Pilát: Zdaliž jsem já Žid? Národ tvůj a přední kněží dali mi tebe. Co jsi učinil?36Odpověděl Ježíš: Království mé není z tohoto světa. Byť z tohoto světa bylo království mé, služebníci moji bránili by mne, abych nebyl vydán Židům. Ale nyní mé království není odsud.37I řekl jemu Pilát: Tedy král jsi ty? Dí Ježíš: Ty pravíš, že já král jsem. Jáť jsem se k tomu narodil, a proto jsem na svět přišel, abych svědectví vydal pravdě. Každý, kdož jest z pravdy, slyší hlas můj.38Dí jemu Pilát: Co jest pravda? A když to řekl, opět vyšel k Židům, a dí jim: Já na něm žádné viny nenalézám.39Ale jest obyčej váš, abych vám propustil jednoho vězně na velikunoc. Chcete-liž tedy, ať vám propustím Krále Židovského?40I zkřikli opět všickni, řkouce: Ne toho, ale Barabbáše. Byl pak Barabbáš lotr.
1 Po těch slovech šel Ježíš se svými učedníky za potok Cedron, kde byla zahrada; a do ní vstoupil on i jeho učedníci.2 Také Jidáš, který ho zradil, znal to místo, neboť Ježíš tam se svými učedníky často býval.3 Jidáš vzal s sebou oddíl vojáků, k tomu stráž od velekněží a farizeů, a přišli tam s pochodněmi, lucernami a zbraněmi.4 Ježíš, který věděl všecko, co ho má potkat, vyšel a řekl jim: „Koho hledáte?“5 Odpověděli mu: „Ježíše Nazaretského.“ Řekl jim: „To jsem já.“ Stál s nimi i Jidáš, který ho zradil.6 Jakmile jim řekl ‚to jsem já‘, couvli a padli na zem.7 Opět se jich otázal: „Koho hledáte?“ A oni řekli: „Ježíše Nazaretského.“8 Ježíš odpověděl: „Řekl jsem vám, že jsem to já. Hledáte-li mne, nechte ostatní odejít.“9 Tak se mělo naplnit slovo, které řekl: ‚Z těch, které jsi mi dal, neztratil jsem ani jednoho.‘10 Šimon Petr vytasil meč, který měl u sebe, zasáhl jednoho veleknězova sluhu a uťal mu ucho. Ten sluha se jmenoval Malchos.11 Ježíš řekl Petrovi: „Schovej ten meč do pochvy! Což nemám pít kalich, který mi dal Otec?“12 Vojáci s důstojníkem a židovská stráž se zmocnili Ježíše a spoutali ho.13 Přivedli ho nejprve k Annášovi; byl totiž tchánem Kaifáše, který byl toho roku veleknězem.14 Byl to ten Kaifáš, který poradil židům, že je lépe, aby jeden člověk zemřel za lid.
— Ježíš před veleknězem
15 Za Ježíšem šel Šimon Petr a jiný učedník. Ten učedník byl znám veleknězi a vešel s Ježíšem do nádvoří veleknězova domu.16 Petr zůstal venku před vraty. Ten druhý učedník, který byl znám veleknězi, vyšel, promluvil s vrátnou a zavedl Petra dovnitř.17 Tu řekla služka vrátná Petrovi: „Nepatříš i ty k učedníkům toho člověka?“ On řekl: „Nepatřím.“18 Poněvadž bylo chladno, udělali si sluhové a strážci oheň a stáli kolem něho, aby se ohřáli. I Petr stál s nimi a ohříval se. 19 Velekněz se dotazoval Ježíše na jeho učedníky a na jeho učení.20 Ježíš mu řekl: „Já jsem mluvil k světu veřejně. Vždycky jsem učil v synagóze a v chrámě, kde se shromažďují všichni židé, a nic jsem neříkal tajně.21 Proč se mě ptáš? Zeptej se těch, kteří slyšeli, co jsem říkal. Ti přece vědí, co jsem řekl.“22 Po těch slovech jeden ze strážců, který stál poblíž, udeřil Ježíše do obličeje a řekl: „Tak se odpovídá veleknězi?“23 Ježíš mu odpověděl: „Řekl-li jsem něco špatného, prokaž, že je to špatné. Jestliže to bylo správné, proč mě biješ?“24 Annáš jej tedy poslal spoutaného k veleknězi Kaifášovi.
— Petrovo zapření
25 Šimon Petr stál ještě u ohně a ohříval se. Řekli mu: „Nejsi i ty z jeho učedníků?“ On to zapřel: „Nejsem.“26 Jeden z veleknězových sluhů, příbuzný toho, jemuž Petr uťal ucho, řekl: „Což jsem tě s ním neviděl v zahradě?“27 Petr opět zapřel; a vtom zakokrhal kohout.
— Ježíš před Pilátem
28 Od Kaifáše vedli Ježíše do místodržitelského paláce. Bylo časně zrána. Židé sami do paláce nevešli, aby se neposkvrnili a mohli jíst velikonočního beránka.29 Pilát vyšel k nim ven a řekl: „Jakou obžalobu vznášíte proti tomu člověku?“30 Odpověděli: „Kdyby nebyl zločinec, nebyli bychom ti ho vydali.“31 Pilát jim řekl: „Vezměte si ho vy a suďte podle svého zákona!“ Židé mu odpověděli: „Nám není dovoleno nikoho popravit.“32 To aby se naplnilo slovo Ježíšovo, kterým naznačil, jakou smrtí má zemřít. 33 Pilát vešel opět do svého paláce, zavolal Ježíše a řekl mu: „Ty jsi král židovský?“34 Ježíš odpověděl: „Říkáš to sám od sebe, nebo ti to o mně řekli jiní?“35 Pilát odpověděl: „Jsem snad žid? Tvůj národ a velekněží mi tě vydali. Čím ses provinil?“36 Ježíš řekl: „Moje království není z tohoto světa. Kdyby mé království bylo z tohoto světa, moji služebníci by bojovali, abych nebyl vydán Židům; mé království však není odtud.“37 Pilát mu řekl: „Jsi tedy přece král?“ Ježíš odpověděl: „Ty sám říkáš, že jsem král. Já jsem se proto narodil a proto jsem přišel na svět, abych vydal svědectví pravdě. Každý, kdo je z pravdy, slyší můj hlas.“38 Pilát mu řekl: „Co je pravda?“ Po těch slovech vyšel opět k Židům a řekl jim: „Já na něm žádnou vinu nenalézám.39 Je zvykem, že vám o Velikonocích propouštím na svobodu jednoho vězně. Chcete-li, propustím vám toho židovského krále.“40 Na to se dali do křiku: „Toho ne, ale Barabáše!“ Ten Barabáš byl vzbouřenec.

Před Annášem
12Oddíl s velitelem a s židovskou stráží tehdy Ježíše zatkli a spoutali.13Přivedli ho nejdříve k Annášovi. Byl totiž tchánem Kaifáše, který byl toho roku veleknězem.14(To byl ten Kaifáš, který židovským představeným poradil, že je lepší, aby jeden člověk zemřel za lid.)[2]15Petr s dalším učedníkem šli za Ježíšem. Onen učedník se znal s veleknězem, a tak mohl jít za Ježíšem do veleknězova dvora.16Petr ale zůstal venku u dveří. Onen druhý učedník, který se znal s veleknězem, tedy vyšel, promluvil s vrátnou a uvedl Petra dovnitř.17Vrátná se Petra zeptala: „Nepatříš také k jeho učedníkům?“ „Nepatřím,“ řekl.18Protože bylo chladno, otroci a strážní rozdělali oheň. Stáli okolo a ohřívali se. Petr tam stál a ohříval se s nimi.19Velekněz Ježíše vyslýchal ohledně jeho učedníků a jeho učení.20Ježíš mu odpověděl: „Mluvil jsem ke světu veřejně. Vždycky jsem učil v synagogách nebo v chrámě, kde se scházejí všichni Židé; nic jsem neříkal potají.21Proč se ptáš mě? Zeptej se těch, kdo mě slyšeli mluvit. Ti vědí, co jsem říkal.“22Když to řekl, jeden z kolemstojících strážných udeřil Ježíše do tváře: „Takhle se odpovídá veleknězi?“23„Jestli jsem řekl něco špatného, dokaž to,“ odpověděl mu Ježíš. „Jestli ne, tak proč mě biješ?“24Annáš ho tedy poslal v poutech k veleknězi Kaifášovi.25Šimon Petr zatím stál u ohně a ohříval se. Zeptali se ho: „Nepatříš snad k jeho učedníkům?“ „Nepatřím,“ zapřel Petr.26Jeden z veleknězových sluhů, příbuzný toho, jemuž Petr usekl ucho, na to řekl: „Copak jsem tě s ním neviděl tam v zahradě?“27Petr ho však znovu zapřel. Vtom zakokrhal kohout.
Před Pilátem
28Ježíše zatím vedli od Kaifáše do prokurátorova paláce. Právě svítalo. Sami ovšem do paláce nevešli, aby se neposkvrnili před Hodem beránka,29a tak Pilát vyšel k nim. „Z čeho tohoto muže viníte?“ ptal se.30„Kdyby to nebyl zločinec, nevodili bychom ho k tobě,“ odpověděli.31„Nechte si ho,“ řekl jim Pilát. „Suďte ho podle vlastního zákona.“ „My nesmíme nikoho popravit,“ odpověděli židovští představení.32(Tak se naplnila Ježíšova slova, jimiž naznačoval, jakou smrtí má zemřít.)[3]33Pilát se vrátil do paláce a zavolal si Ježíše. „Tak ty jsi židovský král?“ zeptal se ho.34Ježíš odpověděl: „Říkáš to sám od sebe, nebo ti to o mně řekli?“35„Jsem snad Žid?“ řekl Pilát. „Tvůj národ a vrchní kněží mi tě vydali. Co jsi udělal?“36„Mé království není z tohoto světa,“ odpověděl Ježíš. „Kdyby mé království bylo z tohoto světa, moji služebníci by bojovali, abych nebyl vydán židovským vůdcům. Mé království ale není odsud.“37„Takže jsi král?“ zeptal se ho Pilát. „Sám říkáš, že jsem král,“ odpověděl Ježíš. „Narodil jsem se a přišel jsem na svět, abych vydal svědectví pravdě. Každý, kdo patří pravdě, mě poslouchá.“38„Co je pravda?“ odtušil Pilát. Po těch slovech vyšel znovu ven k Židům. „Podle mě je nevinný,“ řekl jim.39„Jak je tu zvykem, měl bych na Velikonoce propustit jednoho vězně. Chcete, abych propustil židovského krále?“40Tehdy začali křičet: „Toho ne! Pusť Barabáše!“ (A ten Barabáš byl zločinec.)

Jesus vor Hannas
12Die Soldaten, der Hauptmann und die Gerichtsdiener der Juden nahmen Jesus fest, fesselten ihn13und führten ihn zuerst zu Hannas; er war nämlich der Schwiegervater des Kajaphas, der in jenem Jahr Hohepriester war. (L 3,2; Sk 4,6)14Kajaphas aber war es, der den Juden den Rat gegeben hatte: Es ist besser, dass ein einziger Mensch für das Volk stirbt. (J 11,50)15Simon Petrus und ein anderer Jünger folgten Jesus. Dieser Jünger war mit dem Hohepriester bekannt und ging mit Jesus in den Hof des Hohepriesters. (Mt 26,58; Mk 14,54; L 22,54)16Petrus aber blieb draußen am Tor stehen. Da kam der andere Jünger, der Bekannte des Hohepriesters, heraus; er sprach mit der Pförtnerin und führte Petrus hinein.17Da sagte die Pförtnerin zu Petrus: Bist nicht auch du einer von den Jüngern dieses Menschen? Er sagte: Ich bin es nicht.18Die Knechte und die Diener hatten sich ein Kohlenfeuer angezündet und standen dabei, um sich zu wärmen; denn es war kalt. Auch Petrus stand bei ihnen und wärmte sich.19Der Hohepriester befragte Jesus über seine Jünger und über seine Lehre. (Mt 26,63; Mk 14,61; Mk 15,1; L 22,66)20Jesus antwortete ihm: Ich habe offen vor aller Welt gesprochen. Ich habe immer in der Synagoge und im Tempel gelehrt, wo alle Juden zusammenkommen. Nichts habe ich im Geheimen gesprochen.21Warum fragst du mich? Frag doch die, die gehört haben, was ich zu ihnen gesagt habe; siehe, sie wissen, was ich geredet habe.22Als er dies sagte, schlug einer von den Dienern, der dabeistand, Jesus ins Gesicht und sagte: Antwortest du so dem Hohepriester?23Jesus entgegnete ihm: Wenn es nicht recht war, was ich gesagt habe, dann weise es nach; wenn es aber recht war, warum schlägst du mich?24Da schickte ihn Hannas gefesselt zum Hohepriester Kajaphas.25Simon Petrus aber stand da und wärmte sich. Da sagten sie zu ihm: Bist nicht auch du einer von seinen Jüngern? Er leugnete und sagte: Ich bin es nicht.26Einer von den Knechten des Hohepriesters, ein Verwandter dessen, dem Petrus das Ohr abgehauen hatte, sagte: Habe ich dich nicht im Garten bei ihm gesehen?27Wieder leugnete Petrus und gleich darauf krähte ein Hahn.
Jesus vor Pilatus
28Von Kajaphas brachten sie Jesus zum Prätorium; es war früh am Morgen. Sie selbst gingen nicht in das Gebäude hinein, um nicht unrein zu werden, sondern das Paschalamm essen zu können. (Mk 15,1; L 23,1; J 18,1)29Deshalb kam Pilatus zu ihnen heraus und fragte: Welche Anklage erhebt ihr gegen diesen Menschen?30Sie antworteten ihm: Wenn er kein Übeltäter wäre, hätten wir ihn dir nicht ausgeliefert.31Pilatus sagte zu ihnen: Nehmt ihr ihn doch und richtet ihn nach eurem Gesetz! Die Juden antworteten ihm: Uns ist es nicht gestattet, jemanden hinzurichten.32So sollte sich das Wort Jesu erfüllen, mit dem er angedeutet hatte, welchen Tod er sterben werde. (J 3,14; J 12,32)33Da ging Pilatus wieder in das Prätorium hinein, ließ Jesus rufen und fragte ihn: Bist du der König der Juden? (J 12,13; J 19,15)34Jesus antwortete: Sagst du das von dir aus oder haben es dir andere über mich gesagt?35Pilatus entgegnete: Bin ich denn ein Jude? Dein Volk und die Hohepriester haben dich an mich ausgeliefert. Was hast du getan?36Jesus antwortete: Mein Königtum ist nicht von dieser Welt. Wenn mein Königtum von dieser Welt wäre, würden meine Leute kämpfen, damit ich den Juden nicht ausgeliefert würde. Nun aber ist mein Königtum nicht von hier.37Da sagte Pilatus zu ihm: Also bist du doch ein König? Jesus antwortete: Du sagst es, ich bin ein König. Ich bin dazu geboren und dazu in die Welt gekommen, dass ich für die Wahrheit Zeugnis ablege. Jeder, der aus der Wahrheit ist, hört auf meine Stimme. (J 5,33; 3J 1,3)38Pilatus sagte zu ihm: Was ist Wahrheit?
Nachdem er das gesagt hatte, ging er wieder zu den Juden hinaus und sagte zu ihnen: Ich finde keine Schuld an ihm.39Ihr seid aber gewohnt, dass ich euch zum Paschafest einen freilasse. Wollt ihr also, dass ich euch den König der Juden freilasse?40Da schrien sie wieder: Nicht diesen, sondern Barabbas! Barabbas aber war ein Räuber.

Jesus Faces Annas and Caiaphas
12So the band of soldiers and their captain and the officers of the Jews[4] arrested Jesus and bound him.13First they led him to Annas, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. (Mt 26,3; Mt 26,57; L 3,2; J 18,24; J 18,28; Sk 4,6)14It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews that it would be expedient that one man should die for the people. (J 11,50)
Peter Denies Jesus
15Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, (Mt 26,58; Mk 14,54; L 22,54)16but Peter stood outside at the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the servant girl who kept watch at the door, and brought Peter in. (Mt 26,69; Mk 14,66; L 22,55)17The servant girl at the door said to Peter, “You also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.” (Sk 12,13)18Now the servants[5] and officers had made a charcoal fire, because it was cold, and they were standing and warming themselves. Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself. (Mk 14,54; J 18,25)
The High Priest Questions Jesus
19The high priest then questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching. (Mt 26,59; Mk 14,55; L 22,63)20Jesus answered him, “I have spoken openly to the world. I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret. (Iz 45,19; Iz 48,16; Mt 26,55; J 7,4; J 7,26; J 8,26)21Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them; they know what I said.”22When he had said these things, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, “Is that how you answer the high priest?” (Sk 23,4)23Jesus answered him, “If what I said is wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said is right, why do you strike me?”24Annas then sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest. Peter Denies Jesus Again
25Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You also are not one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not.” (Mt 26,71; Mk 14,69; L 22,58)26One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Did I not see you in the garden with him?” (J 18,1; J 18,10)27Peter again denied it, and at once a rooster crowed. Jesus Before Pilate
28Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the governor’s headquarters.[6] It was early morning. They themselves did not enter the governor’s headquarters, so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover. (Mt 27,2; Mt 27,27; Mk 15,1; L 23,1; J 11,55; J 18,24; J 18,33; J 19,9; J 19,14; Sk 10,28; Sk 11,3)29So Pilate went outside to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?” (Mt 27,11; Mk 15,2; L 23,2)30They answered him, “If this man were not doing evil, we would not have delivered him over to you.”31Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.” The Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death.” (J 19,6)32This was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken to show by what kind of death he was going to die. My Kingdom Is Not of This World
33So Pilate entered his headquarters again and called Jesus and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” (J 19,9; J 19,12)34Jesus answered, “Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me?”35Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you over to me. What have you done?”36Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world.
