1Nyní tedy, ó Izraeli, slyš ustanovení a soudy, kteréž já učím vás činiti, abyste živi byli, a vejdouce, dědičně vládli zemí, kterouž Hospodin Bůh otců vašich vám dává.2Nepřidáte nic k slovu, kteréž já přikazuji vám, aniž co ujmete od něho, abyste tak přikázaní Hospodina Boha svého, kteréž já přikazuji vám, zachovali.3Oči vaše viděly, co učinil Hospodin pro Belfegor, jak všecky lidi, kteříž odešli po Belfegor, vyhladil Hospodin Bůh tvůj z prostředku tvého.4Vy pak, přídržející se Hospodina Boha vašeho, živi jste do dnešního dne všickni.5Viztež, učilť jsem vás ustanovením a soudům, jakž mi přikázal Hospodin Bůh můj, abyste tak činili v zemi, do kteréž vejdete k dědičnému držení jí.6Ostříhejtež tedy a čiňte je, nebo to jest moudrost vaše a opatrnost vaše před očima národů, kteříž, slyšíce všecka ustanovení tato, řeknou: Jistě lid moudrý a rozumný národ veliký tento jest.7Nebo který národ tak veliký jest, kterýž by měl bohy sobě tak blízké, jako jest Hospodin Bůh váš ve všem volání našem k němu?8A který jest národ tak veliký, kterýž by měl ustanovení a soudy spravedlivé, jako jest všecken zákon tento, kterýž já vám dnes předkládám?9A však hleď se a bedlivě ostříhej duše své, abys nezapomenul na ty věci, kteréž viděly oči tvé, a aby nevyšly z srdce tvého po všecky dny života tvého; a v známost je uvedeš synům i vnukům svým.10A nezapomínej, že jsi onoho dne stál před Hospodinem Bohem svým na Orébě, když mi byl řekl Hospodin: Shromažď mi lid, ať jim předložím slova má, z nichž by se učili mne báti po všecky dny, dokudž živi budou na zemi, a témuž aby syny své učili.11Tedy přistoupili jste, a stáli jste pod horou; (hora pak ta hořela ohněm až do samého nebe, a byly na ní tmy, oblak a mrákota.)12I mluvil k vám Hospodin z prostředku ohně. Hlas slov slyšeli jste, ale obrazu žádného jste neviděli kromě hlasu,13Jímž vyhlásil vám smlouvu svou, kteréžto přikázal vám ostříhati, totiž desíti slov, a napsal je na dvou dskách kamenných.14Mně také přikázal Hospodin toho času, abych učil vás ustanovením a soudům, abyste činili je v zemi, do kteréž jdete k dědičnému držení jí.15Protož pilně pečujte o duše své, (nebo neviděli jste žádného obrazu toho dne, když k vám mluvil Hospodin na Orébě z prostředku ohně),16Abyste neporušili cesty své, a neučinili sobě rytiny aneb podobenství nějakého obrazu, tvárnosti muže neb ženy,17Podobenství nějakého hovada, kteréž jest na zemi, aneb podobenství jakéhokoli ptáka křídla majícího, kterýž létá v povětří,18Podobenství jakéhokoli zeměplazu na zemi, aneb podobenství jakékoli ryby, kteráž jest u vodě pod zemí.19Ani pozdvihuj očí svých k nebi, abys, vida slunce a měsíc, i hvězdy se vším zástupem nebeským a ponuknut jsa, klaněl bys se jim a sloužil bys jim, ješto ty věci oddal Hospodin Bůh tvůj všechněm lidem pode vším nebem,20Vás pak vzal Hospodin, a vyvedl vás jako z peci železné z Egypta, abyste byli jeho lid dědičný, jako jste dne tohoto.21Ale na mne rozhněval se Hospodin příčinou vaší, a přisáhl, že nepřejdu Jordánu, ani nevejdu do země té výborné, kterouž Hospodin Bůh tvůj dává tobě v dědictví.22Nebo já umru v zemi této, a nepřejdu Jordánu, vy pak přejdete, a dědičně obdržíte zemi tu výbornou.23Hleďtež, abyste se nezapomínali na smlouvu Hospodina Boha svého, kterouž učinil s vámi, a nečinili sobě rytiny, aneb obrazu jakékoli věci, jakož přikázal tobě Hospodin Bůh tvůj.24Nebo Hospodin Bůh tvůj jest oheň sžírající, Bůh silný, horlivý.25Když zplodíš syny a vnuky, a zstaráte se v zemi té, jestliže porušíte cestu svou, a uděláte rytinu ku podobenství jakékoli věci, aneb učiníte něco zlého před očima Hospodina Boha svého, popouzejíce ho:26Osvědčuji proti vám dnes před nebem i zemí, že hrozně a rychle vyhlazeni budete z země, do kteréž půjdete přes Jordán, abyste vládli jí. Nedlouho bydliti budete v ní, ale do konce vyhlazeni budete.27A rozptýlí vás Hospodin mezi národy, a maličký počet vás zůstane mezi pohany, do kterýchž zavede vás Hospodin,28A sloužiti tam budete bohům, dílu rukou lidských, dřevu a kameni, ješto nevidí ani slyší, ani jedí, ani čijí.29Jestliže pak i tam hledati budeš Hospodina Boha svého, tedy nalezneš, budeš-li ho hledati z celého srdce svého a z celé duše své.30Kdyžť úzko bude, a přijdou na tě všecky ty věci, naposledy však, jestliže bys se navrátil k Hospodinu Bohu svému, a poslouchal bys hlasu jeho,31(Poněvadž Hospodin Bůh tvůj jest Bůh silný, milosrdný,) neopustí tebe, ani tě nezkazí, ani zapomene se na smlouvu otců tvých, kterouž s přísahou utvrdil jim.32Nebo ptej se nyní na dni staré, kteříž byli před tebou, od toho dne, v kterémž stvořil Bůh člověka na zemi, a od jednoho kraje nebe až do druhého, stala-li se kdy věc podobná této tak veliké, aneb slýcháno-li kdy co takového?33Zdali kdy slyšel který lid hlas Boha mluvícího z prostředku ohně, jako jsi ty slyšel a živ zůstal?34Aneb zdali se kdy který Bůh pokusil, aby přijda, vzal sobě národ některý z jiného národu s zkušováním, znameními a s zázraky, skrze boje a ruku silnou, v rameni vztaženém a v hrůzi veliké, jako učinil všecko toto pro vás Hospodin Bůh váš v Egyptě před očima vašima?35Toběť jest to ukázáno, abys věděl, že Hospodin jest Bůh, a že není jiného kromě něho.36Dalť s nebe slyšeti hlas svůj, aby vyučil tebe, a na zemi ukázal tobě oheň svůj veliký, a slova jeho slyšel jsi z prostředku ohně.37Proto že miloval otce tvé, vyvolil símě jejich po nich, a vyvedl tě před sebou mocí svou velikou z Egypta,38Aby vyžena národy veliké a silnější, než jsi ty, před tváří tvou, uvedl tebe a dal tobě zemi jejich v dědictví, jakož dnes vidíš.39Věziž tedy dnes a obnov to v srdci svém, že Hospodin jest Bůh na nebi svrchu i na zemi dole, a není žádného jiného.40Protož ostříhej po všecky dny ustanovení a přikázaní jeho, kteráž já dnes přikazuji tobě, aby dobře bylo tobě i synům tvým po tobě, a abys prodlil dnů v zemi, kterouž Hospodin Bůh tvůj dá tobě.41Tehdy oddělil Mojžíš tři města před Jordánem k východu slunce.42Aby utekl do nich vražedlník, kterýž by zabil bližního svého nechtě, a neměl by ho před tím v nenávisti; když by utekl do jednoho z těch měst, aby živ zůstal:43Bozor na poušti, na rovinách v kraji Rubenitských, a Rámot v Galád, v pokolení Gád, a Golan v Bázan, v pokolení Manasse.44Ten jest zákon, kterýž předložil Mojžíš synům Izraelským,45A tato jsou svědectví a ustanovení i soudové, kteréž předložil Mojžíš synům Izraelským, když vyšli z Egypta,46Před Jordánem v údolí naproti Betfegor, v zemi Seona, krále Amorejského, kterýž bydlil v Ezebon, jejž porazil Mojžíš a synové Izraelští, když vyšli z Egypta,47A uvázali se dědičně v zemi jeho, a v zemi Oga, krále Bázan, dvou králů Amorejských, v zemi, kteráž jest před Jordánem k východu slunce,48Od Aroer, (jenž leží při břehu potoka Arnon), až k hoře Sion, kteráž jest Hermon.49I ve všecku rovinu před Jordánem k východu až k moři pustému, ležící pod horou Fazga.
OPAKOVÁNÍ ZÁKONA - — Zákaz zobrazovat Boha - Mojžíš upozorňuje na zvláštnost Hospodinova zjevení na Chorébu, na nebezpečí modloslužby a utěšuje lid. Jména útočištných měst.
1 Nyní tedy, Izraeli, slyš nařízení a práva, která vás učím dodržovat, abyste zůstali naživu a mohli obsadit zemi, kterou vám dává Hospodin, Bůh vašich otců.2 K tomu, co vám přikazuji, nic nepřidáte a nic z toho neuberete, ale budete dbát na příkazy Hospodina, svého Boha, které vám udílím.3 Na vlastní oči jste viděli, co Hospodin učinil kvůli Baal-peórovi, že každého muže, který chodil za Baal-peórem, Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, vyhladil z tvého středu.4 Ale vy, kteří jste se přimkli k Hospodinu, svému Bohu, jste dodnes všichni živi.5 Hleď, učil jsem vás nařízením a právům, jak mi přikázal Hospodin, můj Bůh, abyste je dodržovali v zemi, kterou přicházíte obsadit.6 Bedlivě je dodržujte. To bude vaše moudrost a rozumnost před zraky lidských pokolení. Když uslyší všechna tato nařízení, řeknou: „Jak moudrý a rozumný lid je tento veliký národ!“7 Což se najde jiný veliký národ, jemuž jsou jeho bohové tak blízko, jako je nám Hospodin, náš Bůh, kdykoli k němu voláme?8 A má jiný veliký národ nařízení a práva tak spravedlivá jako celý tento zákon, který vám dnes předkládám?9 Jenom si dej pozor a velice se střez zapomenout na věci, které jsi viděl na vlastní oči, aby nevymizely z tvého srdce po všechny dny tvého života. Seznam s nimi své syny i vnuky.10 Nezapomeň na den, kdy jsi stál před Hospodinem, svým Bohem, na Chorébu, kdy mi řekl Hospodin: „Shromáždi mi lid a dám jim slyšet svá slova, aby se mě naučili bát po všechny dny svého života na zemi a učili tomu i své syny.“11 Tenkrát jste se přiblížili a stáli pod horou. Hora planula ohněm až do samých nebes a kolem byla tma, oblak a mrákota.12 I promluvil k vám Hospodin zprostředku ohně. Slyšeli jste zvuk slov, avšak žádnou podobu jste neviděli; slyšeli jste jen hlas.13 Oznámil vám svou smlouvu, kterou vám přikázal dodržovat, desatero přikázání, a napsal je na dvě kamenné desky.14 A mně Hospodin v oné době přikázal učit vás nařízením a právům, abyste je dodržovali v zemi, do které táhnete a kterou máte obsadit.15 V den, kdy k vám Hospodin mluvil na Chorébu zprostředku ohně, jste neviděli žádnou podobu; velice se tedy střezte,16 abyste se nezvrhli a neudělali si tesanou sochu, žádné sochařské zpodobení: zobrazení mužství nebo ženství,17 zobrazení jakéhokoli zvířete, které je na zemi, zobrazení jakéhokoli okřídleného ptáka, který létá po nebi,18 zobrazení jakéhokoli plaza, který se plazí po zemi, zobrazení jakékoli ryby, která je ve vodách pod zemí;19 abys nepovznášel své zraky k nebesům, a když bys viděl slunce, měsíc a hvězdy, všechen nebeský zástup, nedal se svést a neklaněl se jim a nesloužil tomu, co dal Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, jako podíl všem národům pod celým nebem.20 Ale vás Hospodin vzal a vyvedl z tavicí pece, z Egypta, abyste byli jeho dědičným lidem, jak tomu je dnes.21 Na mne se však Hospodin kvůli vám rozhněval a přísahal, že nepřejdu Jordán a že nevstoupím do té dobré země, kterou ti Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, dává do dědictví.22 Umřu v této zemi, nepřejdu Jordán, ale vy jej přejdete a tu dobrou zemi obsadíte.23 Dávejte si pozor, abyste nezapomněli na smlouvu Hospodina, svého Boha, kterou s vámi uzavřel, a neudělali si tesanou sochu, zpodobení čehokoli, co ti Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, zakázal,24 neboť Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, je oheň sžírající, Bůh žárlivě milující. 25 Budeš plodit syny a vnuky a dožijete se v té zemi stáří; zvrhnete-li se však a uděláte si tesanou sochu, zpodobení čehokoli, a dopustíte se toho, co je zlé v očích Hospodina, tvého Boha, co ho uráží,26 beru si dnes proti vám za svědky nebe i zemi, že v zemi, do níž přejdete přes Jordán, abyste ji obsadili, rychle a nadobro vyhynete. Nebudete v ní dlouho živi, ale budete vyhlazeni.27 Hospodin vás rozptýlí mezi kdejaký lid, že z vás v pronárodech, kam vás Hospodin zavede, zbude jen malý počet.28 Tam budete sloužit bohům vyrobeným lidskýma rukama, bohům ze dřeva a z kamene, kteří nevidí a neslyší, nejedí a nečichají.29 Odtamtud budete hledat Hospodina, svého Boha; nalezneš ho, budeš-li ho opravdu hledat celým svým srdcem a celou svou duší.30 Ve svém soužení, až tě v posledních dnech toto všechno stihne, navrátíš se k Hospodinu, svému Bohu, a budeš ho poslouchat.31 Vždyť Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, je Bůh milosrdný, nenechá tě klesnout a nepřipustí tvou zkázu, nezapomene na smlouvu s tvými otci, kterou jim stvrdil přísahou.32 Jen se ptej na dřívější časy, které byly před tebou, od chvíle, kdy Bůh stvořil na zemi člověka. Ptej se od jednoho konce nebes ke druhému, zda se stala tak veliká věc anebo bylo o něčem takovém slýcháno.33 Zdali kdy slyšel lid hlas Boha mluvícího zprostředku ohně, jako jsi slyšel ty, a zůstal naživu,34 anebo zdali se pokusil nějaký bůh přijít a vzít pronárod zprostředku jiného pronároda zkouškami, znameními, zázraky a bojem, pevnou rukou a vztaženou paží, velkými hroznými činy, jak to vše s vámi učinil Hospodin, váš Bůh, v Egyptě tobě před očima.35 Tobě bylo odhaleno poznání, že Hospodin je Bůh; kromě něho není žádný jiný.36 Z nebe ti dal slyšet svůj hlas, aby tě napomenul, na zemi ti dal spatřit svůj veliký oheň a jeho slova jsi slyšel zprostředku ohně.37 Protože miloval tvé otce, vyvolil po nich i jejich potomstvo a tebe vyvedl svou velikou mocí z Egypta,38 aby před tebou vyhnal pronárody větší a zdatnější, než jsi ty, a přivedl tě do jejich země a dal ti ji do dědictví, jak tomu je dnes.39 Proto poznej dnes a vezmi si k srdci, že Hospodin je Bůh nahoře na nebesích i dole na zemi; žádný jiný není.40 Dbej na jeho nařízení a příkazy, které ti dnes udílím, aby se vedlo dobře tobě i tvým synům po tobě a abys byl dlouho živ na zemi, kterou ti pro všechny dny dává Hospodin, tvůj Bůh. 41 Tehdy oddělil Mojžíš tři města v Zajordání, na východě,42 aby se tam mohl utéci ten, kdo zabil, pokud zabil svého bližního neúmyslně a neměl ho dříve v nenávisti. Nechť se uteče do některého z těchto měst a zůstane naživu:43 do rúbenovského Beseru ve stepi na náhorní rovině, do gádovského Rámotu v Gileádu a do manasesovského Gólanu v Bášanu. 44 Toto je zákon, který předložil Mojžíš Izraelcům.45 Toto jsou svědectví, nařízení a práva, která přednesl Mojžíš Izraelcům po jejich vyjití z Egypta46 v Zajordání, v údolí naproti Bét-peóru, v zemi emorejského krále Síchona, jenž sídlil v Chešbónu; porazili ho Mojžíš a Izraelci po svém vyjití z Egypta.47 Obsadili jeho zemi i zemi bášanského krále Óga, obou emorejských králů v Zajordání, na východě:48 od Aróeru, který je na břehu potoka Arnónu, až k hoře Síonu, což je Chermón,49 a celou pustinu za Jordánem na východě až k Pustému moři pod úpatí Pisgy.
1Nyní tedy, Izraeli, slyš pravidla a zákony, které vás učím dodržovat, abyste byli živi a vešli do země, kterou vám dává Hospodin, Bůh vašich otců, a obsadili ji.2Ke slovům, která vám udílím, nic nepřidávejte a nic z nich neubírejte, ale zachovávejte přikázání Hospodina, svého Boha, která vám udílím.3Na vlastní oči jste viděli, co Hospodin učinil v Baal-peoru. Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, vyhladil z tvého středu každého, kdo následoval peorského Baala.[1]4Vy, kdo jste se přimkli k Hospodinu, jste však až dodnes všichni naživu.5Pohleď, učím vás pravidla a zákony, které mi Hospodin, můj Bůh, svěřil, abyste je dodržovali v zemi, kterou přicházíte obsadit.6Řiďte se jimi, dodržujte je a ostatní národy uvidí vaši moudrost a rozumnost. Až uslyší o všech těchto pravidlech, řeknou: „Jak moudrý a rozumný lid! Jak znamenitý národ!“7A vskutku – který mocný národ má bohy tak blízké, jako je Hospodin, náš Bůh, kdykoli k němu voláme?8A který mocný národ má pravidla a zákony tak spravedlivé, jako je celý tento Zákon, který vám dnes předkládám?9Střez se však a dávej dobrý pozor, abys nezapomněl, co jsi na vlastní oči spatřil. Po všechny dny svého života to nenech vymizet ze svého srdce, ale seznamuj s tím své syny a vnuky.10Toho dne, kdy jste stáli před Hospodinem, svým Bohem, na Orébu, mi Hospodin řekl: „Shromáždi mi lid. Chci, ať slyší má slova a učí se mne ctít po všechny dny svého života na zemi. Témuž ať učí i své děti.“11A tak jste se přiblížili a stanuli pod horou. Hora plála ohněm až k samému nebi; kolem tma, oblak a mračno.12Tehdy k vám Hospodin promluvil z prostředku ohně. Slyšeli jste slova, ale nerozeznávali žádnou podobu, pouze hlas.13Vyhlásil vám svou smlouvu, kterou vám přikázal plnit, totiž Desatero, jež napsal na dvě kamenné desky.14Tenkrát mi Hospodin přikázal, abych vás učil těmto pravidlům a zákonům, abyste je dodržovali v zemi, kterou jdete obsadit.
Zákaz modlářství
15Toho dne, kdy k vám Hospodin promluvil na Orébu z prostředku ohně, jste přece neviděli žádnou podobu. Mějte se tedy velmi na pozoru,16abyste se nezvrhli a nevytvořili si modlu v jakékoli podobě, ať by to byla socha ve tvaru muže či ženy,17jakéhokoli zvířete na zemi, jakéhokoli ptáka létajícího po nebi,18čehokoli, co leze po zemi, nebo jakékoli ryby ve vodě pod zemí.19Když pozvedneš oči k nebi a pohlédneš na slunce, měsíc a hvězdy, na celý nebeský zástup, nenech se strhnout, aby ses jim klaněl a sloužil jim. Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, je věnoval všem národům pod nebem,20ale vás Hospodin vzal a vyvedl z tavicí pece, z Egypta. Tak jste se jako lid stali jeho dědictvím a tak je tomu dodnes.21Na mě se ale Hospodin kvůli vašim slovům rozhněval. Přísahal, že nepřekročím Jordán a nevejdu do té krásné země, kterou ti Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, dává za dědictví.22Ano, zemřu v této zemi. Nepřejdu Jordán, ale vy ho přejdete a obsadíte tu krásnou zem.23Mějte se tedy na pozoru, abyste nezapomněli na smlouvu Hospodina, svého Boha, kterou s vámi uzavřel, a nevytvořili si modlu v jakékoli podobě, což ti Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, zakázal.24Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, je stravující oheň, žárlivě milující Bůh![2]25V té zemi budeš plodit syny a vnuky a zestárneš. Jestliže se pak zvrhnete a vytvoříte si modlu v jakékoli podobě, spácháte v očích Hospodina, svého Boha, zlou věc a popudíte ho.26Dosvědčuji vám dnes před nebem a zemí, že pak v zemi, kterou se za Jordánem chystáte obsadit, rychle a naprosto vyhynete. Nezůstanete v ní dlouho; budete naprosto vyhlazeni.27Hospodin vás rozptýlí mezi národy, takže vás uprostřed pohanů, kam vás Hospodin zažene, zůstane jen hrstka.28Tam budete sloužit bohům vytvořeným lidskýma rukama, bohům ze dřeva a kamene, kteří nevidí ani neslyší, nejedí ani necítí.29Tam pak začnete hledat Hospodina, svého Boha. Budeš-li jej hledat celým svým srdcem a celou svou duší, najdeš ho.30Toto vše tě ve tvém trápení postihne, avšak nakonec se vrátíš k Hospodinu, svému Bohu, a budeš jej poslouchat.31Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, je soucitný Bůh[3] – nenechá tě a nedopustí tvou záhubu; nezapomene na smlouvu s tvými otci, kterou jim potvrdil přísahou.
Hospodin je Bůh
32Vyptávej se na staré časy. Ptej se, co bylo před tebou ode dne, kdy Bůh na zemi stvořil člověka. Ptej se od jednoho konce nebe po druhý, zda se kdy stalo něco tak velikého anebo bylo o něčem takovém slýcháno.33Slyšel kdy nějaký lid hlas Boha mluvícího z prostředku ohně, jak jsi jej slyšel ty, a zůstal živ?34Zkusil kdy nějaký bůh přijít a za velikých zkoušek, znamení a divů si vzít národ zprostřed jiného národa, a to bojem, mocnou rukou, vztaženou paží a velikými a hroznými činy, jak to vše před vašima očima v Egyptě udělal Hospodin, váš Bůh, pro vás?35Tobě to však bylo ukázáno, abys poznal, že Hospodin je Bůh; kromě něj není žádný jiný.36Z nebe ti dal slyšet svůj hlas, aby tě vyučil, a na zemi ti ukázal svůj veliký oheň, abys slyšel jeho slova z prostředku ohně.37To proto, že miloval tvé otce, vyvolil jejich budoucí símě. Tebe pak osobně vyvedl svou velikou mocí z Egypta,38aby před tebou vyhnal národy větší a mocnější, než jsi ty, aby tě uvedl do jejich země a dal ti ji za dědictví, jak se to právě dnes děje.39Dnešního dne tedy věz a vezmi si k srdci, že Hospodin je Bůh; kromě něj žádný není.40Zachovávej tedy jeho pravidla a přikázání, která ti dnes udílím. Pak se tobě i tvým dětem povede šťastně a budeš mít dlouhý život v zemi, kterou ti navždy dává Hospodin, tvůj Bůh.
Útočištná města v Zajordání
41Mojžíš pak určil tři města na východní straně Jordánu,42aby se tam směl uchýlit každý, kdo někoho neúmyslně zabil, aniž ho kdy předtím měl v nenávisti. Uchýlí se do jednoho z těch měst a zůstane naživu:43Becer na pusté náhorní rovině pro pokolení Ruben, Rámot v Gileádu pro pokolení Gád a Golan v Bášanu pro pokolení Manases.
Hospodinova smlouva
44Toto je Zákon, který Mojžíš předložil synům Izraele.45Toto jsou svědectví, pravidla a zákony, které Mojžíš přednesl synům Izraele po jejich odchodu z Egypta.46Stalo se to v Zajordání, v roklině naproti Bet-peoru, v zemi emorejského krále Sichona, sídlícího v Chešbonu. 1Und nun, Israel, hör auf die Gesetze und Rechtsentscheide, die ich euch zu halten lehre! Hört und ihr werdet leben, ihr werdet in das Land, das der HERR, der Gott eurer Väter, euch gibt, hineinziehen und es in Besitz nehmen. Vergiss nicht die Ereignisse, die du mit eigenen Augen gesehen, und die Worte, die du gehört hast! Lass sie dein ganzes Leben lang nicht aus dem Sinn! Präge sie deinen Kindern und Kindeskindern ein! (Ř 1,23)16Lauft nicht in euer Verderben und macht euch kein Kultbild, das irgendetwas darstellt, keine Statue, kein Abbild eines männlichen oder weiblichen Wesens, (Ex 20,4; Ex 32,7; Dt 4,25; Dt 5,8; Dt 9,12; Dt 27,15; Dt 31,29)17kein Abbild irgendeines Tiers, das auf der Erde lebt, kein Abbild irgendeines gefiederten Vogels, der am Himmel fliegt,18kein Abbild irgendeines Tiers, das am Boden kriecht, und kein Abbild irgendeines Meerestieres im Wasser unter der Erde!19Wenn du die Augen zum Himmel erhebst und das ganze Himmelsheer siehst, die Sonne, den Mond und die Sterne, dann lass dich nicht verführen! Du sollst dich nicht vor ihnen niederwerfen und ihnen nicht dienen. Der HERR, dein Gott, hat sie allen Völkern unter dem ganzen Himmel zugewiesen. (Dt 17,2; Dt 29,24; Dt 32,8; Mdr 13,2)20Euch aber hat der HERR genommen und aus dem Schmelzofen, aus Ägypten, herausgeführt, damit ihr sein Volk, sein Erbbesitz werdet - wie ihr es heute seid. (Dt 9,26; 1Kr 8,51; Jr 11,4)21Zwar hat der HERR mir wegen eures Murrens gegrollt und mir geschworen, ich dürfe nicht über den Jordan ziehen und das prächtige Land betreten, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir als Erbbesitz gibt. (Dt 1,37)22Ich muss in diesem Land hier sterben und werde nicht über den Jordan ziehen. Aber ihr werdet hinüberziehen und dieses prächtige Land in Besitz nehmen.23Nehmt euch in Acht! Vergesst nicht den Bund, den der HERR, euer Gott, mit euch geschlossen hat! Ihr sollt euch kein Kultbild machen, das irgendetwas darstellt, was der HERR, dein Gott, dir verboten hat. Nur einige von euch werden übrig bleiben in den Nationen, zu denen der HERR euch führt.28Dort müsst ihr Göttern dienen, Machwerken von Menschenhand, aus Holz und Stein. In späteren Tagen wirst du zum HERRN, deinem Gott, zurückkehren und auf seine Stimme hören.31Denn der HERR, dein Gott, ist ein barmherziger Gott. Er lässt dich nicht fallen und gibt dich nicht dem Verderben preis und vergisst nicht den Bund mit deinen Vätern, den er ihnen beschworen hat. (Ex 33,20; Dt 5,24)34Oder hat je ein Gott es ebenso versucht, zu einer Nation zu kommen und sie sich mitten aus einer anderen herauszuholen unter Prüfungen, unter Zeichen, Wundern und Krieg, mit starker Hand und hoch erhobenem Arm und unter großen Schrecken, wie alles, was der HERR, euer Gott, in Ägypten mit euch getan hat, vor deinen Augen? Asylstädte im Ostjordanland
41Damals hat Mose jenseits des Jordan, nach Osten hin, drei Städten eine Sonderstellung zugewiesen. (Nu 35,6; Dt 19,1; Jz 20,1)42Dorthin soll jeder, der einen Menschen getötet hat, fliehen können, falls er den andern ohne Vorsatz getötet hat und nicht schon früher mit ihm verfeindet gewesen ist. Wenn er in eine dieser Städte flieht, darf er am Leben bleiben.43Es sind Bezer im Wüstengebiet der Hochebene für die Rubeniter, Ramot in Gilead für die Gaditer und Golan im Baschan für die Manassiter.

44Und das ist die Weisung, die Mose den Israeliten vorgelegt hat.45Das sind die Eidesbestimmungen und die Gesetze und die Rechtsentscheide, die Mose den Israeliten verkündet hat, als sie aus Ägypten zogen.46Es geschah jenseits des Jordan, in der Talschlucht gegenüber Bet-Pegor, im Land Sihons, des Königs der Amoriter, der in Heschbon seinen Sitz hatte. Cities of Refuge

for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:16Lest ye corrupt yourselves , and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,17The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air,18The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:19And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.20But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.21Furthermore the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:22But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go over, and possess that good land.23Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing , which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.24For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.25When thou shalt beget children, and children' children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves , and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing , and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:26I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.27And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.28And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men' hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.29But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him , if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.30When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;31(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.32For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is , or hath been heard like it?33Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?34Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?35Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.36Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.37And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;38To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art , to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.39Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.40Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.41Then Moses severed three cities on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;42That the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:43Namely , Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, of the Manassites.44And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:45These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt,46On this side Jordan, in the valley over against Bethpeor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they were come forth out of Egypt:47And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;48From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which is Hermon,49And all the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.
