1 След това Иисус събра всичките израилеви племена в Сихем и свика старейшините на Израил, началниците му, съдиите му и надзорниците му; и те се представиха пред Бога. 2 И Иисус каза на целия народ: Така казва ГОСПОД, Израилевият Бог: В древността бащите ви, Тара, бащата на Авраам и бащата на Нахор, живееха оттатък реката Ефрат и служеха на други богове. 3 И Аз взех баща ви Авраам от другата страна на реката, водих го през цялата ханаанска земя и умножих потомството му и му дадох Исаак. 4 А на Исаак дадох Яков и Исав. Но аз и домът ми ще служим на ГОСПОДА! 16 И народът отговори и каза: Далеч да бъде от нас да оставим ГОСПОДА, за да служим на други богове! 17 Защото ГОСПОД, нашият Бог, е, който изведе нас и бащите ни от египетската земя, от дома на робството, и който извърши тези големи знамения пред очите ни и ни запази през целия път, по който вървяхме, и сред всичките народи, през които минахме. 18 И ГОСПОД изгони отпред нас всичките народи и аморейците, които живееха в земята. The Covenant Renewal at Shechem

1 Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and summoned the elders, the heads, the judges, and the officers of Israel. And they presented themselves before God. (И Н 23:2; И Н 24:25; И Н 24:32; 1 Цар 10:19)

Choose Whom You Will Serve

16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods, 17 for it is the Lord our God who brought us and our fathers up from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and who did those great signs in our sight and preserved us in all the way that we went, and among all the peoples through whom we passed. 18 And the Lord drove out before us all the peoples, the Amorites who lived in the land. Therefore we also will serve the Lord, for he is our God.” 19 But Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord, for he is a holy God. Joshua’s Death and Burial

29 After these things Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being 110 years old. (Съд 2:7) 30 And they buried him in his own inheritance at Timnath-serah, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, north of the mountain of Gaash. (И Н 19:50) 31 Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua and had known all the work that the Lord did for Israel.
