1 В онова време, заявява ГОСПОД, ще извадят костите на юдовите царе и костите на първенците им, и костите на свещениците, и костите на пророците, и костите на ерусалимските жители от гробовете им, 2 и ще ги пръснат пред слънцето и пред луната и пред цялото небесно войнство, пред тези, които обичаха и на които служиха, и които следваха, и които търсеха, и на които се покланяха – няма да бъдат събрани и няма да бъдат погребани, а ще станат на тор по лицето на земята. 3 И смъртта ще бъде за предпочитане пред живота за целия остатък, останал от този зъл род, останалите на всички места, където ги изгоних, заявява ГОСПОД на Войнствата. 4 И им кажи: Така казва ГОСПОД: Който падне, не става ли? Който се отвърне, няма ли да се върне обратно? 5 Защо този народ на Ерусалим се отвръща с вечно отвръщане? Държат здраво измамата, отказват да се обърнат. 6 Слушах и чух, но не говореха право. Няма кой да се покае заради злото си и да каже: Какво направих! Всеки се връща в своя бяг като кон, който се втурва в боя. 7 Даже щъркелът по небето знае определените си времена и гургулицата, и лястовицата, и жеравът пазят времето на идването си, а Моят народ не знае правото на ГОСПОДА. 8 Как казвате: Ние сме мъдри и законът на ГОСПОДА е с нас? А пък ето, и него направи лъжа лъжливото перо на книжниците. 9 Мъдрите се посрамиха, уплашиха се и бяха хванати. Ето, отхвърлиха словото на ГОСПОДА и каква мъдрост имат? 10 Затова ще дам жените им на други и нивите им – на други притежатели; защото от малък до голям, всеки е отдаден на алчност; от пророк до свещеник, всеки върши измама. 11 И лекуваха раната на дъщерята на Моя народ лекомислено, като казваха: Мир, мир! А няма мир. 12 Засрамиха ли се, че извършиха гнусотии? Не, никак не ги досрамя и не знаят да се изчервят. Затова ще паднат между падащите, ще бъдат съборени, когато ги накажа, казва ГОСПОД. 13 Ще ги довърша съвсем, заявява ГОСПОД; няма да има гроздове на лозата и няма да има смокини на смокинята, и листът ще повехне; и това, което съм им дал, ще ги отмине. 14 Защо седим? Съберете се, нека влезем в укрепените градове и нека загинем там! Защото ГОСПОД, нашият Бог, ни е предал на погибел и ни е напоил с горчива вода, понеже съгрешихме против ГОСПОДА. 15 Надявахме се на мир, но нищо добро; време на изцеление, но, ето – ужас. 16 От Дан се чува пръхтенето на конете му; от гласа на цвиленето на силните му жребци трепери цялата земя. И дойдоха и изпоядоха земята и всичко по нея, града и живеещите в него. 17 Защото, ето, Аз пращам върху вас змии усойници, които не се омайват, а ще ви хапят, заявява ГОСПОД. 18 Мога ли да се утеша в тъгата си? Сърцето ми изнемощя в мен. 19 Ето, чуй! Викът на дъщерята на народа Ми от далечна земя: ГОСПОД не е ли в Сион? И царят му не е ли в него? Защо Ме разгневиха с изваяните си идоли, с чуждите суети? 20 Премина жетвата, свърши лятото, а ние не се спасихме. 21 Съкрушен съм заради съкрушаването на дъщерята на народа си; зачернен съм, ужас ме обзе. 22 Няма ли балсам в Галаад? И няма ли там лекар? Защо тогава няма оздравяване за дъщерята на народа ми?

1 “At that time, declares the Lord, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its officials, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be brought out of their tombs. 2 And they shall be spread before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshiped. And they shall not be gathered or buried. They shall be as dung on the surface of the ground. (Вт 4:19; 4 Цар 21:3; 4 Цар 23:5; Йов 27:19; Йов 31:26; Ер 9:22; Ер 16:4; Ер 25:33; Ез 8:16) 3 Death shall be preferred to life by all the remnant that remains of this evil family in all the places where I have driven them, declares the Lord of hosts. (Ер 2:19; Ер 7:24; Ер 9:6) 6 I have paid attention and listened, but they have not spoken rightly; no man relents of his evil, saying, ‘What have I done?’ Everyone turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle. (Йов 39:19; 2 Пет 3:9) 7 Even the stork in the heavens knows her times, and the turtledove, swallow, and crane[1] keep the time of their coming, but my people know not the rules[2] of the Lord. (П П 2:12; Ис 1:3; Ис 38:14; Ер 5:4) 8 “How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us’? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie. (Рим 2:17) 9 The wise men shall be put to shame; they shall be dismayed and taken; behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, so what wisdom is in them? (Йов 5:13; 1 Кор 1:19) 10 Therefore I will give their wives to others and their fields to conquerors, because from the least to the greatest everyone is greedy for unjust gain; from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely. (Ис 56:11; Ер 6:12) 11 They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace. (Ер 8:21) 12 Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among the fallen; when I punish them, they shall be overthrown, says the Lord. (Ер 3:3; Ос 4:5) 13 When I would gather them, declares the Lord, there are no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree; even the leaves are withered, and what I gave them has passed away from them.”[3] (Ис 1:30; Ис 5:1; Йоил 1:7; Мт 21:19; Лк 13:6) 14 Why do we sit still? Gather together; let us go into the fortified cities and perish there, for the Lord our God has doomed us to perish and has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against the Lord. They come and devour the land and all that fills it, the city and those who dwell in it. Is her King not in her?” “Why have they provoked me to anger with their carved images and with their foreign idols?” (Вт 32:21; Ис 33:17; Ис 39:3) 20 “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” 21 For the wound of the daughter of my people is my heart wounded; I mourn, and dismay has taken hold on me. (Йов 30:30; Ер 8:11; Ер 14:17; П Ер 4:8; Йоил 2:6; Наум 2:10) 22 Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?
