1 Peter 2:20

English Standard Version

20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. (1Pe 3:17; 1Pe 4:13; 1Pe 4:16)

New International Version

20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.

New International Reader’s Version

20 But suppose you receive a beating for doing wrong, and you put up with it. Will anyone honour you for this? Of course not. But suppose you suffer for doing good, and you put up with it. God will praise you for this.

King James Version

20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
