1Pass mal auf, Äthiopien, das Land, das nahe an der Quelle vom Nil liegt und wo es total viele Insekten gibt.2Du schickst Botschafter den Fluss runter, in irgendwelchen Fähren fahren sie über das Wasser. Hier hab ich eine Ansage von Gott für euch: „Geht zu dem Volk, wo die Menschen alle sehr groß sind und eine glatte Haut haben. Geht zu dem Volk, vor dem man überall Angst hat, zu dem Volk, das in der Lage ist, ganz punktgenau alles zu zerstören. Geht zu dem Volk, dessen Land durch zwei Flüsse zerschnitten wird!“3Das geht an alle Menschen, die auf der Erde leben, die festen Boden unter den Füßen haben: Wenn man eine Fahne auf einem Berg aufstellt, dann schaut dorthin! Und wenn man eine Sirene heulen hört, dann macht die Lauscher auf.4Denn Gott hat mir, Jesaja, Folgendes gesagt: „Ich werde mich zu Hause in den Sessel setzen und einfach nur zuschauen. Ich werde mich genau so verhalten wie die heftige Wärme, die um zwölf Uhr mittags durch eine knallige Sonne im Sommer kommt, oder wie eine Nebelwolke an einem Tag, wo geerntet wird.“5Aber wenn der Weinstock aufgehört hat zu blühen und die Blüten anfangen, zu kleinen Trauben zu werden, dann wird er die Reben, wenn die Trauben reif sind, mit einer Schere abschneiden und die trockenen Zweige entfernen und wegschmeißen.6Genauso passiert es auch mit den Äthiopiern. Sie werden weggeschmissen, und ihre Leichen werden die Raubvögel auffressen, die auf den Bergen leben. Auch die Tiere haben den ganzen Sommer und auch noch den Winter reichlich daran zu knabbern.7In dieser Zeit wird dem Gott vom ganzen Universum ein Geschenk gemacht werden. Es kommt von den großen Menschen mit der glatten Haut, vor denen man überall Angst hat, weil sie so brutal sind. Sie kommen aus dem Land, das durch zwei Flüsse zerschnitten ist. Diese Leute werden Gott ein Geschenk machen, und sie kommen zu dem Ort, wo Gott wohnt, auf den Berg Zion.

1Woe to the land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:2That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying , Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!3All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye.4For so the LORD said unto me, I will take my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.5For afore the harvest, when the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and take away and cut down the branches.6They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.7In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion.
