1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; preserve me from violent men, (Mez 18:48; Mez 71:4; Mez 119:153; Mez 119:170; Özd 3:31) 2 who plan evil things in their heart and stir up wars continually. (Mez 56:6) 3 They make their tongue sharp as a serpent’s, and under their lips is the venom of asps. (Mez 10:7; Mez 52:2; Mez 58:4; Rom 3:13) 4 Guard me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have planned to trip up my feet. (Mez 140:1) 5 The arrogant have hidden a trap for me, and with cords they have spread a net;[1] beside the way they have set snares for me. (Eyü 18:8; Mez 35:7; Mez 64:5; Mez 141:9; Mez 142:3; Yer 18:22) 6 I say to the Lord, You are my God; give ear to the voice of my pleas for mercy, O Lord! (Mez 28:8) 8 Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; do not further their[2] evil plot, or they will be exalted!
