1Mose aber hütete die Schafe Jethros, seines Schwiegervaters, des Priesters in Midian. Und er trieb die Schafe über die Wüste hinaus und kam an den Berg Gottes, den Horeb. (1Mo 46,34; 2Mo 2,21; 2Mo 18,5; 5Mo 1,2; 1Kön 19,8)2Da erschien ihm der Engel des HERRN in einer Feuerflamme mitten aus dem Dornbusch. Und als er hinsah, siehe, da brannte der Dornbusch im Feuer, und der Dornbusch wurde doch nicht verzehrt. (1Mo 16,7; 2Mo 3,4; Ri 6,21; Apg 7,30)3Da sprach Mose: Ich will doch hinzutreten und diese große Erscheinung ansehen, warum der Dornbusch nicht verbrennt! (Hi 37,14; Ps 107,8; Apg 7,31)4Als aber der HERR sah, dass er hinzutrat, um zu schauen, rief ihm Gott mitten aus dem Dornbusch zu und sprach: Mose, Mose! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich! (1Mo 22,1; 1Mo 22,11; 2Mo 33,12; 2Mo 33,17)5Da sprach er: Tritt nicht näher heran! Ziehe deine Schuhe aus von deinen Füßen; denn der Ort, wo du stehst, ist heiliges Land! (1Mo 28,16; Jos 5,15; Apg 7,33)6Und er sprach: Ich bin der Gott deines Vaters, der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs! Da verbarg Mose sein Angesicht; denn er fürchtete sich, Gott anzuschauen. (1Mo 28,13; 1Kön 19,13; Mt 22,32; Mk 12,26; Lk 12,26; Apg 7,32)7Und der HERR sprach: Ich habe das Elend meines Volkes in Ägypten sehr wohl gesehen, und ich habe ihr Geschrei gehört über die, welche sie antreiben; ja, ich kenne ihre Schmerzen. (2Kön 20,5; Neh 9,9; Ps 10,14; Ps 139,1; Ps 145,18; Apg 7,34)8Und ich bin herabgekommen, um sie zu erretten aus der Hand der Ägypter und sie aus diesem Land zu führen in ein gutes und weites Land, in ein Land, in dem Milch und Honig fließt, an den Ort der Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Pheresiter, Hewiter und Jebusiter. (4Mo 13,27; 4Mo 33,51; 5Mo 1,7; 5Mo 1,25; Ps 12,6; Jes 35,4)9Und nun siehe, das Geschrei der Kinder Israels ist vor mich gekommen, und ich habe auch ihre Bedrängnis gesehen, wie die Ägypter sie bedrücken. Gottes Selbstoffenbarung und Auftrag an Mose
13Und Mose sprach zu Gott: Siehe, wenn ich zu den Kindern Israels komme und zu ihnen sage: Der Gott eurer Väter hat mich zu euch gesandt!, und sie mich fragen werden: Was ist sein Name? — was soll ich ihnen sagen? (Jes 52,6; Joh 17,6; 1Joh 5,20)14Gott sprach zu Mose: »Ich bin, der ich bin!«[1] Und er sprach: So sollst du zu den Kindern Israels sagen: »Ich bin«, der hat mich zu euch gesandt. (Jes 42,8; Mal 3,6; Joh 6,35; Joh 8,58; Joh 18,5; Hebr 13,8; Offb 1,4; Offb 1,8)15Und weiter sprach Gott zu Mose: So sollst du zu den Kindern Israels sagen: Der HERR, der Gott eurer Väter, der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs, hat mich zu euch gesandt; das ist mein Name ewiglich, ja, das ist der Name, mit dem ihr an mich gedenken sollt von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht. (1Mo 28,13; 2Mo 3,6; Ps 102,13; Ps 135,13; Hebr 11,16)16Geh hin und versammle die Ältesten von Israel und sprich zu ihnen: Der HERR, der Gott eurer Väter, der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs, ist mir erschienen und hat gesagt: Ich habe genau achtgegeben auf euch und auf das, was euch in Ägypten geschehen ist, (2Mo 2,25; 2Mo 4,29; 2Mo 4,31)17und ich habe gesagt: Ich will euch aus dem Elend Ägyptens herausführen in das Land der Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Pheresiter, Hewiter und Jebusiter, in das Land, in dem Milch und Honig fließt. (2Mo 3,8)18Und wenn sie auf dich hören, so sollst du und die Ältesten von Israel zum König von Ägypten hineingehen und zu ihm sagen: Der HERR, der Gott der Hebräer, ist uns begegnet. So lass uns nun drei Tagereisen weit in die Wüste gehen, damit wir dem HERRN, unserem Gott, Opfer darbringen! (2Mo 4,31; 2Mo 5,1)19Aber ich weiß, dass euch der König von Ägypten nicht ziehen lassen wird, auch nicht durch eine starke Hand. (2Mo 5,2; 2Mo 6,1; 5Mo 6,21; Ps 136,12; Jes 63,12)20Aber ich werde meine Hand ausstrecken und Ägypten schlagen mit allen meinen Wundertaten, die ich in seiner Mitte tun will; danach wird er euch ziehen lassen. (5Mo 6,22; Neh 9,9; Ps 105,27; Jes 49,24; Jer 32,20)21Und ich will diesem Volk Gunst verschaffen bei den Ägyptern, sodass ihr nicht leer ausziehen müsst, wenn ihr auszieht; (2Mo 11,3; 2Mo 12,35; Ps 105,37; Ps 106,46; Phil 4,19)22sondern die Frau eines jeden [von euch] soll von ihrer Nachbarin und Hausgenossin silberne und goldene Geräte und Kleider fordern; die sollt ihr euren Söhnen und Töchtern geben und Ägypten berauben. 1Mose hütete die Herde seines Schwiegervaters Jitro[1], des Priesters von Midian. Eines Tages trieb er die Tiere durch die Wüste und kam zum Horeb[2], dem Berg Gottes.2Da erschien ihm der Engel des HERRN in einer Feuerflamme, die aus einem Dornbusch schlug. Mose sah, dass der Busch zwar in Flammen stand, aber nicht verbrannte. (Apg 7,30)3»Das ist ja seltsam«, sagte er zu sich selbst. »Warum verbrennt dieser Busch nicht? Das muss ich mir näher ansehen.« (Apg 7,31)4Als der HERR sah, dass Mose herankam, um es genauer zu betrachten, rief er ihn aus dem Busch heraus: »Mose! Mose!« »Hier bin ich!«, antwortete Mose.5»Komm nicht näher!«, befahl Gott ihm. »Zieh deine Sandalen aus, denn du stehst auf heiligem Boden. (1Mo 28,17; Jos 5,15; Apg 7,33)6Ich bin der Gott deiner Vorfahren – der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs.«[3] Als Mose das hörte, verhüllte er sein Gesicht, denn er hatte Angst, Gott anzuschauen. (Mt 22,32; Mk 12,26; Lk 20,37; Apg 3,1; Apg 3,13)7Der HERR sagte zu ihm: »Ich habe gesehen, wie mein Volk in Ägypten unterdrückt wird. Und ich habe ihr Schreien gehört. Ich weiß, wie sehr es leidet. (Apg 7,34)8Ich bin gekommen, um sie aus der Gewalt der Ägypter zu retten und sie aus Ägypten zu führen in ein schönes, weites Land, in ein Land, in dem Milch und Honig überfließen – das Land, in dem die Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter leben. (1Mo 15,18; 1Mo 46,4; 1Mo 50,24; 2Mo 3,17; 5Mo 6,3; 5Mo 8,7; 5Mo 11,9; 5Mo 26,9)9Ich habe das Schreien der Israeliten gehört und ich habe gesehen, wie sie von den Ägyptern unterdrückt werden.10Nun geh, denn ich sende dich zum Pharao. Du sollst mein Volk, die Israeliten, aus Ägypten führen.«[4] (Apg 7,34)11»Wer bin ich, dass ich zum Pharao gehen und die Israeliten aus Ägypten führen sollte?«, fragte Mose Gott. (2Mo 4,10; 2Mo 6,12)12Er antwortete: »Ich werde mit dir sein. Und dies soll der Beweis sein, dass ich dich gesandt habe: Wenn du die Israeliten aus Ägypten geführt hast, werdet ihr mir an diesem Berg dienen.«[5] (2Mo 4,12; 2Mo 19,2; Apg 7,7)13Aber Mose wandte ein: »Wenn ich zu den Israeliten gehe und ihnen sage: ›Der Gott eurer Vorfahren hat mich zu euch gesandt‹, und sie mich dann fragen: ›Wie heißt er denn?‹, was soll ich ihnen dann antworten?« (2Mo 15,3)14Gott entgegnete: »Ich bin, der ich immer bin. Sag ihnen einfach: ›»Ich bin« hat mich zu euch gesandt.‹« (2Mo 6,3; Joh 8,58; Offb 1,8; Offb 4,8)15Und er fügte hinzu: »Sag ihnen: ›Der HERR[6], der Gott eurer Vorfahren – der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs – hat mich zu euch gesandt.‹ Das ist mein Name für alle Zeiten; alle kommenden Generationen sollen mich so nennen. (Ps 72,17; Ps 102,13; Ps 135,13; Apg 3,13)16Geh und ruf alle führenden Männer der Israeliten zusammen. Sag ihnen: ›Der HERR, der Gott eurer Vorfahren, ist mir erschienen – der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs. Er lässt euch sagen: Ich habe auf euch geachtet und sehe, was euch in Ägypten angetan wird. (2Mo 4,29)17Ich will euch aus Ägypten führen, wo ihr so unterdrückt werdet. Ich werde euch in das Land bringen, das die Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter bewohnen – ein Land, in dem Milch und Honig überfließen.‹ (2Mo 3,8; Jos 24,11)18Die führenden Männer der Israeliten werden auf dich hören. Danach sollst du zusammen mit ihnen zum König von Ägypten gehen und ihm sagen: ›Der HERR, der Gott der Hebräer, ist uns erschienen. Lass uns drei Tagesreisen weit in die Wüste gehen, um dort dem HERRN, unserem Gott, zu opfern.‹ (2Mo 4,23; 2Mo 5,1; 4Mo 23,4)19Ich weiß aber, dass der König von Ägypten euch nicht ziehen lässt, es sei denn, er wird mit Gewalt dazu gezwungen. (2Mo 5,2; 2Mo 6,1; 2Mo 7,4)20Deshalb will ich meine Hand ausstrecken und die Ägypter strafen, indem ich unter ihnen Wunder tue. Daraufhin wird er euch schließlich ziehen lassen. (2Mo 11,1; 2Mo 12,31; Neh 9,10; Apg 7,36)21Und ich werde dafür sorgen, dass die Ägypter euch wohlgesinnt sind. Ihr werdet nicht mit leeren Händen fortgehen. (2Mo 11,3)22Jede israelitische Frau soll sich von ihrer Nachbarin und ihrer Mitbewohnerin silbernen und goldenen Schmuck und schöne Kleider geben lassen. Diese sollt ihr dann euren Söhnen und Töchtern anziehen. So werdet ihr die Ägypter ausplündern!« (2Mo 11,2; 2Mo 12,35)

He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. (2Mo 3,6; Ps 135,13; Hos 12,5)16Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt, (1Mo 50,24; 2Mo 4,29; 2Mo 4,31; Lk 1,68)17and I promise that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey.”’ (2Mo 3,8)18And they will listen to your voice, and you and the elders of Israel shall go to the king of Egypt and say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us; and now, please let us go a three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’ (2Mo 4,31; 2Mo 5,1; 4Mo 23,3; 4Mo 23,15)19But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless compelled by a mighty hand.[3] (2Mo 5,2; 2Mo 6,1; 2Mo 7,4; 2Mo 13,3)20So I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with all the wonders that I will do in it; after that he will let you go. (2Mo 4,21; 2Mo 12,31; 5Mo 6,22; Neh 9,10; Jer 32,20; Apg 7,36)21And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and when you go, you shall not go empty, (1Mo 15,14; 2Mo 11,2; 2Mo 12,35)22but each woman shall ask of her neighbor, and any woman who lives in her house, for silver and gold jewelry, and for clothing. You shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So you shall plunder the Egyptians.” (2Mo 33,6; Hes 39,10)
1Moses was taking care of the flock of his father-in-law Jethro. Jethro was the priest of Midian. Moses led the flock to the western side of the desert. He came to Horeb. It was the mountain of God.2There the angel of the LORD appeared to him from inside a burning bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire. But it didn’t burn up.3So Moses thought, ‘I’ll go over and see this strange sight. Why doesn’t the bush burn up?’4The LORD saw that Moses had gone over to look. So God spoke to him from inside the bush. He called out, ‘Moses! Moses!’ ‘Here I am,’ Moses said.5‘Do not come any closer,’ God said. ‘Take off your sandals. The place you are standing on is holy ground.’6He continued, ‘I am the God of your father. I am the God of Abraham. I am the God of Isaac. And I am the God of Jacob.’ When Moses heard that, he turned his face away. He was afraid to look at God.7The LORD said, ‘I have seen how my people are suffering in Egypt. I have heard them cry out because of their slave drivers. I am concerned about their suffering.8So I have come down to save them from the Egyptians. I will bring them up out of that land. I will bring them into a good land. It has a lot of room. It is a land that has plenty of milk and honey. The Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites live there.9And now Israel’s cry for help has reached me. I have seen how badly the Egyptians are treating them.10So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh. I want you to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. They are my people.’11But Moses spoke to God. ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?’ he said. ‘Who am I that I should bring the Israelites out of Egypt?’12God said, ‘I will be with you. I will give you a sign. It will prove that I have sent you. When you have brought the people out of Egypt, all of you will worship me on this mountain.’13Moses said to God, ‘Suppose I go to the people of Israel. Suppose I say to them, “The God of your fathers has sent me to you.” And suppose they ask me, “What is his name?” Then what should I tell them?’14God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM. Here is what you must say to the Israelites. Tell them, “I AM has sent me to you.” ’15God also said to Moses, ‘Say to the Israelites, “The LORD is the God of your fathers. He has sent me to you. He is the God of Abraham. He is the God of Isaac. And he is the God of Jacob.” My name will always be The LORD. Call me this name for all time to come.16‘Go. Gather the elders of Israel together. Say to them, “The LORD, the God of your fathers, appeared to me. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God said, ‘I have watched over you. I have seen what the Egyptians have done to you.17I have promised to bring you up out of Egypt where you are suffering. I will bring you into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. It is a land that has plenty of milk and honey.’ ”18‘The elders of Israel will listen to you. Then you and the elders must go to the king of Egypt. You must say to him, “The LORD has met with us. He is the God of the Hebrews. Let us take a journey that lasts about three days. We want to go into the desert to offer sacrifices to the LORD our God.”19But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you and your people go. Only a mighty hand could make him do that.20So I will reach out my hand. I will strike the Egyptians with all the amazing things I will do. After that, their king will let you go.21‘I will cause the Egyptians to treat you in a kind way. Then when you leave, you will not go with your hands empty.22Every woman should ask her neighbour and any woman living in her house for things made out of silver and gold. Ask them for clothes too. Put them on your children. In that way, you will take the wealth of Egypt along with you.’
