Warnung vor Verführung zum Götzendienst
7Wenn dich dein Bruder, der Sohn deiner Mutter oder dein Sohn oder deine Tochter oder deine Ehefrau oder dein Freund, der dir [so lieb] wie deine Seele ist, heimlich anstiftet und sagt: »Lasst uns hingehen und anderen Göttern dienen!« — die du nicht gekannt hast, weder du noch deine Väter, (5Mo 28,54; 5Mo 32,17; 1Sam 18,1; 1Sam 20,17; Mi 7,5)8von den Göttern der Völker, die um euch her sind, sie seien nahe bei dir oder fern von dir, von einem Ende der Erde bis zum anderen Ende der Erde —, (Ri 10,6)9so sollst du nicht einwilligen und nicht auf ihn hören; du sollst ihn nicht verschonen, und du sollst kein Mitleid [mit ihm] haben, noch ihn verbergen, (Spr 1,10; 2Kor 11,3)10sondern du sollst ihn unbedingt umbringen; deine Hand soll als erste an ihm sein, um ihn zu töten, und danach die Hand des ganzen Volkes. 2Wenn ein Prophet oder Träumer in deiner Mitte aufsteht und dir ein Zeichen oder Wunder ankündigt3und das Zeichen oder Wunder trifft ein, von dem er dir gesagt hat, und er spricht: Lasst uns andern Göttern folgen, die ihr nicht kennt, und ihnen dienen,4so sollst du nicht gehorchen den Worten eines solchen Propheten oder Träumers; denn der HERR, euer Gott, versucht euch, um zu erfahren, ob ihr ihn von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele lieb habt. 13Wenn du aus einer deiner Städte, die der HERR, dein Gott, dir als Wohnort gibt, erfährst:14Niederträchtige Menschen sind aus deiner Mitte herausgetreten und haben ihre Mitbürger vom HERRN abgebracht, indem sie sagten: Gehen wir und dienen wir anderen Göttern, die ihr bisher nicht kanntet!, (5Mo 13,3)15wenn du dann durch Augenschein und Vernehmung genaue Ermittlungen angestellt hast und sich gezeigt hat: Ja, es ist wahr, der Tatbestand steht fest, dieser Gräuel ist in deiner Mitte geschehen, (5Mo 17,4; 5Mo 19,18)16dann sollst du die Bürger dieser Stadt mit scharfem Schwert erschlagen, du sollst an der Stadt und an allem, was darin lebt, auch am Vieh, mit scharfem Schwert den Bann vollziehen.
