Gefangenschaft und Befreiung des Petrus

1 Um jene Zeit aber legte der König Herodes^[1] Hand an etliche von der Gemeinde, um sie zu misshandeln. (Lk 22,53; Joh 15,20) 2 Und er tötete Jakobus, den Bruder des Johannes, mit dem Schwert. (Mk 10,39; Offb 6,9) 3 Und als er sah, dass das den Juden gefiel, fuhr er fort und nahm auch Petrus gefangen. 4 Und als er ihn festgenommen hatte, warf er ihn ins Gefängnis und übergab ihn vier Abteilungen von je vier Kriegsknechten zur Bewachung, in der Absicht, ihn nach dem Passah dem Volk vorzuführen. (Mt 26,5) 5 So wurde Petrus nun im Gefängnis bewacht; von der Gemeinde aber wurde unablässig für ihn zu Gott gebetet. (Mt 18,19; 1Kor 12,26; 2Kor 1,11; Hebr 13,3; Jak 5,16)

6 Als nun Herodes ihn vorführen wollte, schlief Petrus in jener Nacht zwischen zwei Kriegsknechten, mit zwei Ketten gebunden; und Wächter vor der Tür bewachten das Gefängnis. (Ps 3,6; Mk 4,38) 7 Und siehe, ein Engel des Herrn trat hinzu, und ein Licht erglänzte in dem Raum. Er weckte aber Petrus durch einen Schlag an die Seite und sprach: Steh schnell auf! Und die Ketten fielen ihm von den Händen. (Ps 18,29; Ps 34,8; Ps 37,32; Apg 5,19; Apg 16,26)

8 Und der Engel sprach zu ihm: Umgürte dich und zieh deine Schuhe an! Und er tat es. Und [jener] spricht zu ihm: Wirf deinen Mantel um und folge mir! (Mt 4,18; Lk 5,27; Joh 21,19; Joh 21,22)

9 Und er ging hinaus und folgte ihm und wusste nicht, dass es Wirklichkeit war, was durch den Engel geschah, sondern er meinte ein Gesicht zu sehen. (Ps 126,1) 10 Als sie aber durch die erste und die zweite Wache hindurchgegangen waren, kamen sie zu dem eisernen Tor, das zur Stadt führt, und dieses öffnete sich ihnen von selbst. Und sie traten hinaus und gingen eine Gasse weit, und mit einem Mal verließ ihn der Engel. (Jes 45,1; Apg 12,7) 11 Da kam Petrus zu sich und sprach: Nun weiß ich wahrhaftig, dass der Herr seinen Engel gesandt und mich errettet hat aus der Hand des Herodes und von allem, was das jüdische Volk erhoffte! (Ps 33,10; Ps 33,19; Ps 91,11; Ps 97,10; Dan 3,28; Dan 6,22; 2Petr 2,9)

12 Und er besann sich und ging zum Haus der Maria, der Mutter des Johannes mit dem Beinamen Markus, wo viele versammelt waren und beteten. (Jes 65,24) 13 Als nun Petrus an die Haustür klopfte, kam eine Magd namens Rhode herbei, um zu horchen. (Lk 12,36; Apg 12,16; Offb 3,20) 14 Und als sie die Stimme des Petrus erkannte, machte sie vor Freude die Türe nicht auf, sondern lief hinein und meldete, Petrus stehe vor der Tür. (Mt 28,8) 15 Sie aber sprachen zu ihr: Du bist nicht bei Sinnen! Aber sie bestand darauf, dass es so sei. Da sprachen sie: Es ist sein Engel! (Lk 24,11) 16 Petrus aber fuhr fort zu klopfen; und als sie öffneten, sahen sie ihn und erstaunten sehr. 17 Er gab ihnen aber mit der Hand ein Zeichen, dass sie schweigen sollten, und erzählte ihnen, wie der Herr ihn aus dem Gefängnis geführt hatte. Er sprach aber: Meldet dies dem Jakobus und den Brüdern! Und er ging hinaus und zog an einen anderen Ort. (Ps 66,16; Jes 49,25; Apg 15,13; Gal 1,19)

18 Als es nun Tag geworden war, entstand eine nicht geringe Bestürzung unter den Kriegsknechten, was wohl aus Petrus geworden sei. (Apg 5,22) 19 Als aber Herodes nach ihm verlangte und ihn nicht fand, verhörte er die Wachen und ließ sie [zur Hinrichtung] abführen. Und er ging aus Judäa nach Cäsarea hinab und hielt sich dort auf. Das Gericht Gottes über Herodes Agrippa

20 Herodes war aber erzürnt über die Bewohner von Tyrus und Zidon. Da kamen sie einmütig zu ihm, und nachdem sie Blastus, den Kämmerer des Königs, für sich gewonnen hatten, baten sie um Frieden, weil ihr Land von dem des Königs seine Nahrung erhielt. 21 Aber an einem bestimmten Tag zog Herodes ein königliches Gewand an und setzte sich auf den Richterstuhl und hielt eine Rede an sie. 22 Die Volksmenge aber rief ihm zu: Das ist die Stimme eines Gottes und nicht eines Menschen! (Jud 1,16) 23 Sogleich aber schlug ihn ein Engel des Herrn, weil er Gott nicht die Ehre gab; und er verschied, von Würmern zerfressen. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. 9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. 10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. 12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. 13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda. 14 And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. 15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel. 16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished. 17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place. 18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. 19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode. 20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country. 21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. 22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. 23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. 24 But the word of God grew and multiplied. 25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
