1 Wenn der HERR, dein Gott, dich in das Land bringt, in das du kommen wirst, um es in Besitz zu nehmen, und wenn er vor dir her viele Völker vertilgt, die Hetiter, die Girgasiter, die Amoriter, die Kanaaniter, die Pheresiter, die Hewiter und die Jebusiter, sieben Völker, die größer und stärker sind als du; (1Mo 15,18; 5Mo 4,38; 5Mo 9,1; 5Mo 31,3; Ps 44,3)

4 denn sie würden deine Söhne von mir abwendig machen, dass sie anderen Göttern dienen; und dann wird der Zorn des HERRN über euch entbrennen und euch bald vertilgen. (5Mo 6,15; Ps 106,36) 5 Vielmehr sollt ihr so mit ihnen verfahren: Ihre Altäre sollt ihr niederreißen, ihre Gedenksteine zerbrechen, ihre Aschera-Standbilder zerschlagen und ihre Götzenbildnisse mit Feuer verbrennen. Ermutigung und Segensverheißung für die Einnahme des Landes

12 Und es wird geschehen, wenn ihr auf diese Rechtsbestimmungen hört, sie bewahrt und tut, so wird der HERR, dein Gott, auch dir den Bund und die Gnade bewahren, die er deinen Vätern geschworen hat. (5Mo 28,1; Dan 9,4; Mi 7,20) 13 Und er wird dich lieben und dich segnen und mehren; er wird segnen die Frucht deines Leibes und die Frucht deines Landes, dein Korn, deinen Most und dein Öl, den Wurf deiner Kühe und die Zucht deiner Schafe, in dem Land, das er deinen Vätern geschworen hat, dir zu geben. 17 Wenn du aber in deinem Herzen sagst: Diese Völker sind zahlreicher als ich! Wie kann ich sie aus ihrem Besitz vertreiben?, (5Mo 1,28) 18 so fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen! Gedenke doch an das, was der HERR, dein Gott, dem Pharao und allen Ägyptern getan hat; (Ps 27,1) 19 an die gewaltigen Prüfungen, die deine Augen gesehen haben, an die Zeichen und Wunder und an die starke Hand und den ausgestreckten Arm, mit denen der HERR, dein Gott, dich herausgeführt hat. So wird der HERR, dein Gott, an allen Völkern handeln, vor denen du dich fürchtest! (5Mo 9,1; Neh 9,10; Ps 77,12) 20 Dazu wird der HERR, dein Gott, Hornissen unter sie senden, bis die Übriggebliebenen und diejenigen, die sich vor dir versteckt hielten, umgekommen sind. 22 Und der HERR, dein Gott, wird diese Völker nach und nach vor dir vertreiben; du kannst sie nicht rasch aufreiben, sonst würden sich die Tiere des Feldes zu deinem Schaden vermehren.
