To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.
1Have mercy on me,[1] O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. (Ps 4,1; Ps 51,9; Ps 106,45; Iz 43,25; Iz 44,22; Dz 3,19; Kol 2,14)2Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! (Kpł 13,6; Ps 51,7; Iz 1,16; Jer 4,14; Ml 3,3; Dz 22,16; Hbr 9,14; 1 J 1,7; 1 J 1,9)3For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. (Ps 32,5; Przyp 28,13)4Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. (Rdz 20,6; Rdz 39,9; 2 Sm 12,13; Łk 15,18; Łk 15,21; Rz 3,4; 1 Kor 8,12)5Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. (Job 14,4; Job 15,14; Rz 5,12; Rz 5,19; Ef 2,3)6Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. (Job 38,36)7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. (Wj 12,22; Kpł 14,4; Lb 19,18; Ps 2,1; Iz 1,18; Hbr 9,19)8Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. (Ps 35,10; Ps 44,19; Iz 38,13)9Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. (Ps 1,1; Jer 16,17)10Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right[2] spirit within me. (1 Sm 10,9; Ps 24,4; Jer 24,7; Lm 5,21; Ez 11,19; Ez 36,26; Mt 5,8; Dz 15,9; Ef 4,23; Ef 4,24)11Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. (2 Krl 13,23; 2 Krl 17,20; 2 Krl 24,20; Ps 102,10; Jer 7,15; Rz 8,9; Ef 4,30)12Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.13Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. (Łk 22,32)14Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. (2 Sm 11,17; 2 Sm 12,9; Ps 24,5; Ps 35,28; Ps 71,8; Ps 71,15; Ps 71,24; 1 J 1,9)15O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.16For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. (Ps 40,6)17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. (Ps 34,18)18Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build up the walls of Jerusalem; (Ps 69,35; Ps 122,6; Ps 147,2)19then will you delight in right sacrifices, in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your altar. (Pwt 33,10; Ps 4,5; Ml 3,3)
