1O Deus poderoso, o SENHOR, convocou toda a humanidade, desde o Oriente até ao Ocidente!2Sião é perfeita em beleza. É de lá que Deus resplandece.3Ele vem com o estrondo do trovão, rodeado de um fogo destruidor; uma grande tempestade ruge ao seu redor.4Pois veio julgar o seu povo. Então clama ao céu e à Terra:5“Que o meu povo se junte, todos os que, por meio de um sacrifício, fizeram comigo uma aliança.”6Deus os julgará como perfeito juiz que é; os céus inteiros são testemunha da sua justiça. (Pausa)7“Escuta-me, meu povo! Pois sou o teu Deus! Ouve-me! Estas são as coisas que tenho contra ti:8Não tenho nada a dizer a respeito dos holocaustos que trazes ao altar, pois isso fazes com regularidade.9Não te peço nenhum dos teus touros, nem os bodes que tens nos currais,10porque, afinal, meu é todo o animal, tanto dos campos como das florestas. Pertence-me todo o gado nos milhares de colinas.11Conheço bem, porque são minhas, todas as aves nas montanhas e todas as criaturas dos campos.12Se eu tivesse fome não o diria, pois o mundo, e tudo o que nele existe, pertence-me.13Não, eu não preciso dos sacrifícios de carne de boi e do sangue dos bodes que me ofereces.14O que eu pretendo de ti é uma verdadeira gratidão e que cumpras as promessas que fizeste ao Altíssimo.15Confia em mim nas horas de aflição e eu te livrarei, e tu me honrarás e me louvarás.”16Porém, ao ímpio, diz Deus: “Com que direito recitas as minhas leis e fazes apelo às minhas promessas, à minha aliança com o meu povo?17Pois recusas a minha disciplina e desrespeitas as minhas palavras.18Tornas-te cúmplice de ladrões, se os vês; gastas o teu tempo com gente adúltera.19Quando falas é só para praguejar e mentir, numa linguagem imprópria.20Falas mal até do próprio irmão.21Tudo isto fazes e eu tenho-me calado; pensavas que eu era como tu. Mas agora chegou o tempo de te castigar, de te pôr diante dos olhos tudo aquilo de que te acuso.22Ouçam então, vocês que se esquecem de Deus, antes que vos destrua inteiramente, sem que ninguém vos possa ajudar:23Aquele que louva com verdade, com sinceridade, honra-me. Os que ordenam as suas vidas retamente no meu caminho receberão a salvação de Deus.”
