Der Krieg

1 Jahwe sagte zu Mose: 2 „Bestrafe die Midianiter für das, was sie Israel angetan haben. Danach wirst du mit deinen Vorfahren vereint werden.“ 3 Daraufhin sagte Mose zum Volk: „Ein Teil eurer Männer soll sich zum Kriegsdienst bewaffnen. Sie werden gegen die Midianiter ziehen, um die Rache Jahwes an ihnen zu vollstrecken. 4 Von jedem Stamm sollen 1000 Mann in den Kampf ziehen.“ 5 So wählten sie aus den Wehrtruppen Israels von jedem Stamm tausend Kämpfer aus, sodass ein Heer von 12.000 Mann zusammenkam. 6 Mose schickte auch Pinhas, den Sohn des Priesters Eleasar, mit den heiligen Geräten und den Signaltrompeten zum Heer. 7 Sie kämpften gegen Midian, wie Jahwe es Mose befohlen hatte, und brachten alle Männer um, 8 auch die fünf Könige der Midianiter: Ewi, Rekem, Zur, Hur und Reba. Auch Bileam Ben-Beor töteten sie. 9 Die Frauen und Kinder der Midianiter nahmen sie gefangen. Sie erbeuteten ihre Viehherden und ihren ganzen Besitz. 10 Doch all ihre Städte und Dörfer brannten sie nieder. 11 Die ganze Beute, auch alle Menschen und das Vieh, 12 brachten sie zu Mose und Eleasar und der Gemeinschaft der Israeliten ins Lager in der moabitischen Steppe am Jordan bei Jericho. 13 Mose ging ihnen mit Eleasar und den Oberhäuptern der Gemeinschaft entgegen. 14 Als er sie sah, wurde er zornig über die Befehlshaber des Heeres, die Führer der Tausend- und Hundertschaften, die aus dem Krieg kamen. 15 Er sagte zu ihnen: „Warum habt ihr die Frauen am Leben gelassen? 16 Gerade sie brachten doch auf den Rat Bileams die Israeliten dazu, in der Sache mit dem Peor von Jahwe abzufallen, sodass sein schwerer Schlag die Gemeinde Jahwes traf. 17 Tötet jetzt alle Kinder männlichen Geschlechts und alle Frauen, die schon mit einem Mann geschlafen haben. 18 Alle Mädchen, die noch nicht mit einem Mann Verkehr hatten, dürft ihr für euch am Leben lassen. 19 Ihr bleibt sieben Tage vor dem Lager. Und jeder, der einen Menschen erschlagen hat, und jeder, der einen Toten berührte, soll sich am dritten und am siebten Tag samt seinen Gefangenen entsündigen. 20 Auch alle Kleidungsstücke, alles Lederzeug und alles, was aus Ziegenhaar oder Holz hergestellt ist, muss entsündigt werden.“ 21 Der Priester Eleasar sagte den Männern, die aus dem Kampf heimgekehrt waren: „Folgende gesetzliche Verordnung hat Jahwe uns durch Mose gegeben: 22 Alle Beutestücke aus Gold, Silber, Bronze, Eisen, Zinn und Blei, 23 also alles, was nicht verbrennen kann, sollt ihr ins Feuer halten und anschließend mit dem Reinigungswasser entsündigen. Alles, was verbrennen kann, sollt ihr ins Wasser tauchen. 24 Am siebten Tag sollt ihr eure Kleidung waschen. Dann seid ihr wieder rein und dürft ins Lager zurückkommen.“

Die Verteilung der Beute

25 Jahwe sagte zu Mose: 26 „Zähle mit dem Priester Eleasar und den Oberen der Gemeinschaft, was als Beute mitgebracht worden ist, Menschen und Vieh. 27 Dann gib die eine Hälfte der Beute denen, die ins Feld gezogen sind und gekämpft haben, und die andere Hälfte der ganzen übrigen Gemeinschaft. 28 Von den Kämpfern, die in den Krieg gezogen sind, sollst du darüber hinaus eine Abgabe für Jahwe erheben: je eins von 500 bei Menschen, Rindern, Eseln oder Kleinvieh. 29 Das sollst du von der Hälfte nehmen, die ihnen zusteht, und es dem Priester Eleasar als Opfer für Jahwe übergeben. 30 Von der Hälfte, die den übrigen Israeliten zusteht, sollst du je eins von 50 erheben, bei Menschen und Vieh, bei Rindern, Eseln, Schafen oder Ziegen, und sollst es den Leviten übergeben, die den Dienst an der Wohnung Jahwes tun.“ 31 Mose und Eleasar machten, was Jahwe Mose befohlen hatte. 32 Die Zählung der gesamten Beute^[1] erbrachte 675.000 Schafe und Ziegen, 33 72.000 Rinder, 34 61.000 Esel 35 und 32.000 Menschen, unberührte Mädchen. 36 Die Hälfte davon, der Anteil für die Kämpfer, betrug 337.500 Stück Kleinvieh 37 und die Abgabe für Jahwe: 675 Stück; 38 36.000 Rinder und die Abgabe für Jahwe: 72; 39 30.500 Esel und die Abgabe für Jahwe: 61; 40 16.000 Menschen und die Abgabe für Jahwe: 32 Menschen. 41 Mose übergab diesen Anteil dem Priester Eleasar als Opfergabe für Jahwe, so wie Jahwe es ihm befohlen hatte. 42 Von der Hälfte für die Israeliten, die Mose von der Beute der Kämpfer abgezogen hatte, 43 also von der Hälfte, die für die Gemeinschaft bestimmt war, nämlich 337.500 Stück Kleinvieh, 44 36.000 Rinder, 45 30.500 Esel 46 und 16.000 Menschen, 47 von dieser den Israeliten gehörenden Hälfte nahm Mose von 50 Menschen und Tieren je eins heraus und übergab sie den Leviten, die den Dienst an der Wohnung Jahwes versahen, so wie Jahwe es ihm befohlen hatte. 48 Da traten die Befehlshaber des Heeres an Mose heran, die Führer der Tausend- und Hundertschaften, 49 und sagten zu ihm: „Deine Diener haben die Krieger gezählt, die unter unserem Befehl standen, und es fehlt nicht ein einziger Mann. 50 So bringen wir das als Opfergabe für Jahwe, was jeder von uns an Goldschmuck gefunden hat: Schrittkettchen und Armspangen, Siegelringe, Ohrringe und Halsschmuck, um Sühne vor Jahwe für uns zu erwirken.“ 51 Mose und der Priester Eleasar nahmen das Gold von ihnen an, alles kunstvoll gearbeitete Schmuckstücke. 52 Das Gold, das sie als Abgabe von den Führern der Tausend- und Hundertschaften für Jahwe erhoben, hatte ein Gewicht von fast 200 Kilogramm.^[2] 53 Die Krieger hatten auch jeder für sich Beute gemacht. 54 Mose und der Priester Eleasar nahmen das Gold von den Oberen und brachten es in das Offenbarungszelt. Es sollte vor Jahwe als Erinnerung für die Israeliten bleiben.

1 وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: 2 «انْتَقِمْ مِنَ الْمِدْيَانِيِّينَ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَبَعْدَهَا تَمُوتُ وَتَنْضَمُّ إِلَى قَوْمِكَ». 3 فَقَالَ مُوسَى لِلشَّعْبِ: «جَهِّزُوا مِنْكُمْ رِجَالاً مُجَنَّدِينَ لِمُحَارَبَةِ الْمِدْيَانِيِّينَ وَالانْتِقَامِ لِلرَّبِّ مِنْهُمْ. 4 أَرْسِلُوا لِلْحَرْبِ أَلْفاً وَاحِداً مِنْ كُلِّ سِبْطٍ مِنْ أَسْبَاطِ إِسْرَائِيلَ». 5 فَتَمَّ اخْتِيَارُ أَلْفٍ مِنْ كُلِّ سِبْطٍ، فَكَانُوا اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ أَلْفاً مِنْ بَيْنِ أُلُوفِ إِسْرَائِيلَ مُجَرَّدِينَ لِلْقِتَالِ. 6 فَأَرْسَلَهُمْ مُوسَى، أَلْفاً مِنْ كُلِّ سِبْطٍ، لِلْحَرْبِ بِقِيَادَةِ فِينْحَاسَ بْنِ أَلِعَازَارَ الْكَاهِنِ، الَّذِي أَخَذَ مَعَهُ أَمْتِعَةَ الْقُدْسِ وَأَبْوَاقَ الْهُتَافِ. 7 فَحَارَبُوا الْمِدْيَانِيِّينَ كَمَا أَمَرَ الرَّبُّ وَقَتَلُوا كُلَّ ذَكَرٍ؛ 8 وَقَتَلُوا مَعَهُمْ مُلُوكَهُمُ الْخَمْسَةَ: أَوِيَ وَرَاقِمَ وَصُورَ وَحُورَ وَرَابِعَ، كَمَا قَتَلُوا بَلْعَامَ بْنَ بَعُورَ بِحَدِّ السَّيْفِ. 9 وَأَسَرَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ نِسَاءَ الْمِدْيَانِيِّينَ وَأَطْفَالَهُمْ، وَغَنِمُوا جَمِيعَ بَهَائِمِهِمْ وَمَوَاشِيهِمْ وَسَائِرَ أَمْلاكِهِمْ، 10 وَأَحْرَقُوا مُدُنَهُمْ كُلَّهَا بِمَسَاكِنِهَا وَحُصُونِهَا، 11 وَاسْتَوْلَوْا عَلَى كُلِّ الْغَنَائِمِ وَالأَسْلابِ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَالْحَيَوَانِ، 12 وَرَجَعُوا إِلَى مُوسَى وَأَلِعَازَارَ الْكَاهِنِ وَجَمَاعَةِ إِسْرَائِيلَ بِالسَّبْيِ والأَسْلابِ وَالْغَنِيمَةِ إِلَى الْمُخَيَّمِ فِي سُهُولِ مُوآبَ بِالْقُرْبِ مِنْ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ مُقَابِلَ أَرِيحَا. 13 فَخَرَجَ مُوسَى وَأَلِعَازَارُ وَكُلُّ قَادَةِ إِسْرَائِيلَ لاِسْتِقْبَالِهِمْ إِلَى خَارِجِ الْمُخَيَّمِ، 14 فَأَبْدَى مُوسَى سُخْطَهُ عَلَى قَادَةِ الْجَيْشِ مِنْ رُؤَسَاءِ الأُلُوفِ وَرُؤَسَاءِ الْمِئَاتِ الْقَادِمِينَ مِنَ الْحَرْبِ، 15 وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «لِمَاذَا اسْتَحْيَيْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ؟ 16 إِنَّهُنَّ بِاتِّبَاعِهِنَّ نَصِيحَةَ بَلْعَامَ أَغْوَيْنَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ لِعِبَادَةِ فَغُورَ، وَكُنَّ سَبَبَ خِيَانَةٍ لِلرَّبِّ، فَتَفَشَّى الْوَبَأُ فِي جَمَاعَةِ الرَّبِّ. 17 فَالآنَ اقْتُلُوا كُلَّ ذَكَرٍ مِنَ الأَطْفَالِ، وَاقْتُلُوا أَيْضاً كُلَّ امْرَأَةٍ ضَاجَعَتْ رَجُلاً، 18 وَلَكِنِ اسْتَحْيَوْا لَكُمْ كُلَّ عَذْرَاءَ لَمْ تُضَاجِعْ رَجُلاً. 19 وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَامْكُثُوا خَارِجَ الْمُخَيَّمِ سَبْعَةَ أَيَّامٍ، وَعَلَى كُلِّ مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْساً، وَمَنْ لَمَسَ قَتِيلاً أَنْ يَتَطَهَّرَ فِي الْيَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ، وَفِي الْيَوْمِ السَّابعِ. افْعَلُوا هَذَا أَنْتُمْ وَسَبَايَاكُمْ. 20 وَكَذَلِكَ طَهِّرُوا كُلَّ ثَوْبٍ، وَكُلَّ مَتَاعٍ جِلْدِيٍّ، وَكُلَّ مَا هُوَ مَصْنُوعٌ مِنْ شَعْرِ الْمَعْزِ وَكُلَّ آنِيَةٍ مِنْ خَشَبٍ». 21 وَقَالَ أَلِعَازَارُ الْكَاهِنُ لِلْمُحَارِبِينَ: «هَذِهِ هِيَ فَرِيضَةُ الشَّرِيعَةِ الَّتِي أَمَرَ بِها الرَّبُّ مُوسَى: 22 الذَّهَبُ وَالْفِضَّةُ وَالنُّحَاسُ وَالْحَدِيدُ وَالْقَصْدِيرُ وَالرَّصَاصُ، 23 وَكُلُّ مَا يَتَحَمَّلُ حَرَارَةَ النَّارِ، أَجِيزُوهُ فِيهَا فَيُصْبِحَ طَاهِراً. وَلَكِنْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَيْضاً أَنْ تُطَهِّرُوهُ بِمَاءِ التَّطْهِيرِ، وَمَا لَا يَحْتَمِلُ النَّارَ طَهِّرُوهُ بِمَاءِ التَّطْهِيرِ فَقَطْ. 24 ثُمَّ اغْسِلُوا ثِيَابَكُمْ فِي الْيَوْمِ السَّابعِ فَتَكُونُوا طَاهِرِينَ. وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ تَدْخُلُونَ الْمُخَيَّمَ».

48 ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ قَادَةُ الْجُنْدِ مِنْ رُؤَسَاءِ الأُلُوفِ وَرُؤَسَاءِ الْمِئَاتِ إِلَى مُوسَى، 49 وَقَالُوا لَهُ: «لَقَدْ أَحْصَى عَبِيدُكَ عَدَدَ جُنُودِهِمِ الْمُحَارِبِينَ، فَلَمْ يُفْقَدْ مِنَّا إِنْسَانٌ. 50 لِذَلِكَ يُقَدِّمُ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَّا قُرْبَانَ الرَّبِّ فِي مَا وَجَدَهُ مِنْ أَمْتِعَةِ ذَهَبٍ: حُجُولٍ وَأَسَاوِرَ وَخَوَاتِمَ وَأَقْرَاطٍ وَقَلائِدَ لِلتَّكْفِيرِ عَنْ أَنْفُسِنَا أَمَامَ الرَّبِّ». 51 فَأَخَذَ مُوسَى وَأَلِعَازَارُ الْكَاهِنُ مِنْهُمْ كُلَّ مَا هُوَ مَصْنُوعٌ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ، 52 فَكَانَتْ جُمْلَةُ ذَهَبِ التَّقْدِمَةِ الَّتِي قَرَّبُوهَا لِلرَّبِّ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ أَلَفاً وَسَبْعَ مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسِينَ شَاقِلاً (نَحْوَ مِئَتَيْ كِيلُو جِرَاماً) قَدَّمَهَا رُؤَسَاءُ الأُلُوفِ وَرُؤَسَاءُ الْمِئَاتِ. 53 أَمَّا الْجُنْدُ فَقَدْ أَخَذَ كُلٌّ مِنْهُمْ مَا اغْتَنَمَهُ لِنَفْسِهِ. 54 وَحَمَلَ مُوسَى وَأَلِعَازَارُ الْكَاهِنُ الذَّهَبَ الَّذِي قَدَّمَهُ رُؤَسَاءُ الأُلُوفِ وَرُؤَسَاءُ الْمِئَاتِ وَأَتَيَا بِهِ إِلَى خَيْمَةِ الاجْتِمَاعِ تَذْكَاراً لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَمَامَ الرَّبِّ.

Vengeance on Midian

1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Avenge the people of Israel on the Midianites. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.” (4Mo 20,24; 4Mo 25,17) 3 So Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Arm men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian to execute the Lord’s vengeance on Midian. 4 You shall send a thousand from each of the tribes of Israel to the war.” 5 So there were provided, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand from each tribe, twelve thousand armed for war. (4Mo 32,27; Jos 4,13) 6 And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand from each tribe, together with Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand. 8 They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. And they also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword. (4Mo 25,15; Jos 13,21; Jos 13,22) 9 And the people of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones, and they took as plunder all their cattle, their flocks, and all their goods. 10 All their cities in the places where they lived, and all their encampments, they burned with fire, (1Mo 25,16) 11 and took all the spoil and all the plunder, both of man and of beast. 17 Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him. Nevertheless, it shall also be purified with the water for impurity. And whatever cannot stand the fire, you shall pass through the water.
