Die Musterung der Leviten

1 Es folgt das Verzeichnis der Stammesverwandten von Aaron und Mose, die zu der Zeit lebten, als Jahwe auf dem Berg Sinai mit Mose redete. 2 Aarons Söhne waren Nadab, der Erstgeborene, dann Abihu, Eleasar und Itamar. 3 Sie waren durch Salbung zu Priestern geweiht und eingesetzt worden. 4 Nadab und Abihu starben vor Jahwe, als sie ihm in der Wüste Sinai ein unerlaubtes Feueropfer brachten. Sie hatten keine Söhne. So versahen Eleasar und Itamar den priesterlichen Dienst unter Aufsicht ihres Vaters Aaron. 5 Jahwe sagte zu Mose: 6 „Lass die Männer des Stammes Levi herkommen und vor den Priester Aaron treten. Sie sollen seine Helfer sein. 7 Sie sollen ihm und der ganzen Gemeinschaft vor dem Offenbarungszelt dienen und die notwendigen Arbeiten an der Wohnung verrichten. 8 Sie sollen alle Gegenstände, die zum Offenbarungszelt gehören, in Ordnung halten und stellvertretend für die Israeliten die Arbeit an der Wohnung verrichten. 9 Du sollst die Leviten Aaron und seinen Söhnen übergeben, denn sie sind ihnen von den übrigen Israeliten gegeben^[1] worden. 10 Aaron und seine Nachkommen sollst du mit dem Priesterdienst beauftragen. Jeder Unbefugte, der sich das anmaßt, soll getötet werden.“ 11 Jahwe sagte weiter zu Mose: 12 „Pass auf! Ich selbst habe die Leviten anstelle eurer erstgeborenen Söhne für mich ausgesondert. Sie gehören mir. 13 Denn jede Erstgeburt gehört mir. Als ich im Land Ägypten jede Erstgeburt tötete, habe ich mir in Israel alles vorbehalten, was zuerst aus dem Mutterschoß kommt. Es gehört mir, Jahwe.“ 14 In der Wüste Sinai sagte Jahwe noch zu Mose: 15 „Mustere die Nachkommen Levis nach ihren Familien und Sippen, und zwar alle männlichen, die älter als einen Monat sind.“ 16 Mose tat, was Jahwe ihm befohlen hatte. 17 Die Söhne Levis waren Gerschon, Kehat und Merari. 18 Die Söhne Gerschons waren Libni und Schimi, 19 die Söhne Kehats Amram, Jizhar, Hebron und Usiël 20 und die Söhne Meraris Machli und Muschi. Das sind die Sippen der Leviten nach ihren Familien geordnet. 21 Zu Gerschon gehörten die Sippen Libni und Schimi. 22 Die Gesamtzahl ihrer männlichen Angehörigen, die älter waren als einen Monat, betrug 7500. 23 Die Sippen der Gerschoniten schlugen ihr Lager hinter der Wohnung im Westen auf. 24 Ihr Oberhaupt war Eljasaf Ben-Laël. 25 Die Gerschoniten hatten beim Offenbarungszelt für die Wohnung und das Zeltdach zu sorgen, für seine Decke und den Vorhang am Eingang zum Zelt, 26 für die Behänge des Vorhofs, der die Wohnung und den Altar umgibt, und die dazugehörenden Seile sowie für den Vorhang am Eingang des Vorhofs. 27 Zu Kehat gehörten die Sippen Amram, Jizhar, Hebron und Usiël. 28 Die Gesamtzahl ihrer männlichen Angehörigen, die älter als einen Monat und für den Dienst im Heiligtum bestimmt waren, betrug 8600. 29 Die Sippen der Kehatiten schlugen ihr Lager an der Südseite der Wohnung auf. 30 Ihr Oberhaupt war Elizafan Ben-Usiël. 31 Sie hatten für die Lade zu sorgen, für den Tisch, den Leuchter, die Altäre und die heiligen Geräte, mit denen man den Dienst versieht sowie den Vorhang samt aller Arbeit daran. 32 Über den Oberhäuptern der Leviten stand der Priester Eleasar Ben-Aaron. Er hatte die Aufsicht über alle, die mit einer Aufgabe beim Heiligtum betraut waren. 33 Zu Merari gehörten die Sippen Machli und Muschi. 34 Die Gesamtzahl ihrer männlichen Angehörigen, die älter waren als einen Monat, betrug 6200. 35 Ihr Oberhaupt war Zuriël Ben-Abihajil. Sie schlugen ihr Lager an der Nordseite der Wohnung auf. 36 Die Merariten hatten für die Bretter der Wohnung zu sorgen, für ihre Riegel, Säulen, Bodenplatten und alles weitere Zubehör samt aller Arbeit daran, 37 ebenso für die Säulen des Vorhofs ringsum und ihre Sockel, Pflöcke und Seile. 38 An der Ostseite der Wohnung, vor dem Offenbarungszelt, schlugen Mose, Aaron und dessen Söhne ihr Lager auf. Sie erfüllten ihre Aufgabe für das Heiligtum, wie es den Israeliten aufgetragen war. Doch jeder andere, der sich das anmaßte, musste getötet werden. 39 Die Gesamtzahl der Leviten, die Mose und Aaron nach Jahwes Befehl musterten, alle männlichen Personen, die älter als einen Monat waren, betrug 22.000.^[2] 40 Jahwe sagte zu Mose: „Mustere alle männlichen Erstgeborenen der Israeliten, die älter als einen Monat sind, und nimm ihre Zahl auf. 41 Dann beanspruche für mich die Leviten anstelle aller Erstgeborenen bei den Israeliten – ich bin Jahwe – und das Vieh der Leviten anstelle aller erstgeborenen Tiere der Israeliten.“ 42 Da musterte Mose alle Erstgeborenen bei den Israeliten, wie Jahwe es ihm befohlen hatte, 43 und kam auf eine Gesamtzahl von 22.273.^[3] 44 Da sagte Jahwe zu Mose: 45 „Beanspruche die Leviten anstelle aller Erstgeborenen bei den Israeliten und das Vieh der Leviten anstelle ihres Viehs. Die Leviten sollen mir gehören, ich bin Jahwe! 46 Zur Auslösung der 273 Erstgeborenen, die die Zahl der Leviten übersteigen, 47 sollst du pro Kopf je fünf Schekel Silber nehmen, die dem Normgewicht im Heiligtum von elf Gramm entsprechen. 48 Das Geld sollst du zur Auslösung der überzähligen Israeliten Aaron und seinen Söhnen geben.“ 49 Mose nahm das Lösegeld von den Überzähligen, die durch die Leviten nicht ausgelöst waren. 50 Von den Erstgeborenen der Israeliten nahm er das Geld, 1365 Schekel nach dem Normgewicht im Heiligtum. 51 Mose gab das Lösegeld Aaron und seinen Söhnen, wie Jahwe es ihm befohlen hatte.

1 وَهَذِهِ هِيَ مَوَالِيدُ هَروُنَ وَمُوسَى يَوْمَ خَاطَبَ الرَّبُّ مُوسَى فِي جَبَلِ سِينَاءَ: 2 هَذِهِ هِيَ أَسْمَاءُ أَبْنَاءِ هَرُونَ: نَادَابُ الْبِكْرُ، وَأَبِيهُو، وَأَلِعَازَارُ، وَإِيثَامَارُ، 3 الَّذِينَ كَانُوا كَهَنَةً مَمْسُوحِينَ تَكَرَّسُوا لِلْكَهَنُوتِ. 4 إِلّا أَنَّ نَادَابَ وَأَبِيهُو مَاتَا بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الرَّبِّ عِنْدَمَا قَرَّبَا نَاراً غَرِيبَةً أَمَامَهُ فِي «أَحْضِرْ سِبْطَ لاوِي لِيَمْثُلُوا أَمَامَ هَرُونَ الْكَاهِنِ وَيَخْدِمُوهُ. 7 وَيُحَافِظُوا عَلَى شَعَائِرِهِ وَشَعَائِرِ كُلِّ الشَّعْبِ أَمَامَ خَيْمَةِ الاجْتِمَاعِ، وَيَقُومُوا بِخِدْمَةِ الْمَسْكَنِ، 8 وَيَحْرُسُوا كُلَّ أَمْتِعَةِ خَيْمَةِ الاجْتِمَاعِ، وَيَنُوبُوا عَنِ الشَّعْبِ فِي تَأْدِيَةِ وَاجِبَاتِ خِدْمَةِ الْمَسْكَنِ. 9 وَلْيَكُنِ اللّاوِيُّونَ تَحْتَ إِمْرَةِ هَرُونَ وَأَبْنَائِهِ هِبَةً لَهُ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ. 10 أَمَّا هَرُونُ وَأَبْنَاؤُهُ فَهُمْ وَحْدُهُمْ يَقُومُونَ بِخِدْمَةِ الْكَهَنُوتِ، وَأَيُّ وَاحِدٍ سِوَاهُمْ يَقْتَرِبُ مِنَ الْمَقْدِسِ يُقْتَلُ». 11 وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: 12 «هَا إِنِّي قَدْ أَفْرَزْتُ اللّاوِيِّينَ مِنْ بَيْنِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ بَدَلاً مِنْ أَبْكَارِ الشَّعْبِ، فَيَكُونُ اللّاوِيُّونَ خَاصَّتِي، 13 لأَنَّ كُلَّ بِكْرٍ مِنْ شَعْبِ إِسْرَائِيلَ هُوَ لِي. فَقَدْ أَفْرَزْتُ لِي كُلَّ بِكْرٍ فِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَالْبَهَائِمِ مُنْذُ أَنْ أَهْلَكْتُ كُلَّ بِكْرٍ فِي دِيَارِ مِصْرَ. لِي يَكُونُونَ. أَنَا الرَّبُّ». 14 وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى فِي صَحْرَاءِ سِينَاءَ: 15 «أَحْصِ كُلَّ ذَكَرٍ مِنْ أَبْنَاءِ سِبْطِ لاوِي مِنِ ابْنِ شَهْرٍ فَمَا فَوْقُ، حَسَبَ بُيُوتِ آبَائِهِمْ وَعَشَائِرِهِمْ». 16 فَأَحْصَاهُمْ مُوسَى وَفْقاً لأَمْرِ الرَّبِّ. 17 وَهَذِهِ هِيَ أَسْمَاءُ أَبْنَاءِ لاوِي: جَرْشُونُ وَقَهَاتُ وَمَرَارِي. 18 أَمَّا اسْمَا ابْنَيْ جَرْشُونَ حَسَبَ عَشَائِرِهِمَا، فَهُمَا: لِبْنِي وَشِمْعِي 19 وَبَنُو قَهَاتَ حَسَبَ عَشَائِرِهِمْ هُمْ: عَمْرَامُ وَيِصْهَارُ وَحَبْرُونُ وَعُزِّيئِيلُ. 20 وَابْنَا مَرَارِي حَسَبَ عَشَائِرِهِمَا هُمَا مَحْلِي وَمُوشِي. هَذِهِ هِيَ عَشَائِرُ اللّاوِيِّينَ وَفْقاً لِبُيُوتِ آبَائِهِمْ. 21 فَقَدْ تَفَرَّعَ عَنْ جَرْشُونَ عَشِيرَتَا اللِّبْنِيِّينَ وَالشِّمْعِيِّينَ. هَاتَانِ هُمَا عَشِيرَتَا الْجَرْشُونِيِّينَ. 22 وَكَانَ عَدَدُ الذُّكُورِ الْمُحْصَيْنَ مِنْهُمَا مِنِ ابْنِ شَهْرٍ وَمَا فَوْقُ، سَبْعَةَ آلافٍ وَخَمْسَ مِئَةٍ. 23 وَقَدْ خَيَّمَتْ عَشِيرَتَا الْجَرْشُونِيِّينَ وَرَاءَ الْمَسْكَنِ إِلَى الْغَرْبِ، 24 وَكَانَ رَئِيسُهُمَا أَلِيَاسَافَ بْنَ لايِلَ 25 وَعُهِدَ إِلَى الْجَرْشُونِيِّينَ بِحِرَاسَةِ الْمَسْكَنِ فِي خَيْمَةِ الاجْتِمَاعِ وَالْخَيْمَةِ وَغِطَائِهَا وَسَتَائِرِ بَابِ خَيْمَةِ الاجْتِمَاعِ، 26 وَسَتَائِرِ الدَّارِ وَسِتَارَةِ بَابِ الدَّارِ الَّتِي حَوْلَ الْمَسْكَنِ وَحَوْلَ جَوَانِبِ الْمَذْبَحِ وَحِبَالِهِ مَعَ كُلِّ خِدْمَتِهِ. 27 وَتَفَرَّعَ عَنْ قَهَاتَ عَشَائِرُ الْعَمْرَامِيِّينَ وَالْيِصْهَارِيِّينَ وَالْحَبْرُونِيِّينَ وَالْعُزِّيئِيلِيِّينَ. هَذِهِ هِيَ عَشَائِرُ الْقَهَاتِيِّينَ. 28 فَكَانَ عَدَدُ الذُّكُورِ الْمُحْصَيْنَ مِنْهُمْ مِنِ ابْنِ شَهْرٍ فَمَا فَوْقُ، ثَمَانِيَةَ آلافٍ وَسِتَّ مِئَةٍ. وَمُهِمَّتُهُمْ حِرَاسَةُ الْقُدْسِ. 29 وَتُخَيِّمُ عَشَائِرُ بَنِي قَهَاتَ فِي جَنُوبِيِّ الْمَسْكَنِ، 30 وَكَانَ رَئِيسُهَا أَلِيصَافَانَ بْنَ عُزِّيئِيلَ. 31 وَهُمْ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ حِرَاسَةَ التَّابُوتِ وَالْمَائِدَةِ وَالْمَنَارَةِ وَالْمَذْبَحَيْنِ وَأَمْتِعَةِ الْقُدْسِ الَّتِي يَخْدُمُونَ بِها، وَالْحِجَابِ وَكُلِّ مَا يَتَعَلَّقُ بِهِ. 32 أَمَّا رَئِيسُ رُؤَسَاءِ اللّاوِيِّينَ أَلِعَازَارُ بْنُ هَرُونَ الْكَاهِنِ فَيَتَوَلَّى أَيْضاً أَمْرَ حُرَّاسِ حِرَاسَةِ الْقُدْسِ. 33 وَتَفَرَّعَ عَنْ مَرَارِي عَشِيرَتَا الْمَحْلِيِّينَ وَالْمُوشِيِّينَ. هَاتَانِ هُمَا عَشِيرَتَا مَرَارِي. 34 فَكَانَ عَدَدُ الذُّكُورِ الْمُحْصَيْنَ مِنْهُمَا مِنِ ابْنِ شَهْرٍ فَمَا فَوْقُ، سِتَّةَ آلافٍ وَمِئَتَيْنِ، 35 وَرَئِيسُهُمَا صُورِيئِيلُ بْنُ أَبِيحَايِلَ. وَتُخَيِّمَانِ إِلَى شِمَالِيِّ الْمَسْكَنِ. 36 وَمُهِمَّةُ أَبْنَاءِ مَرَارِي حِرَاسَةُ أَلْوَاحِ الْمَسْكَنِ وَعَوَارِضِهِ وَقَوَاعِدِهَا وَكُلِّ أَوَانِيهِ وَالْعِنَايَةُ بِها، 37 وَأَعْمِدَةِ جَوَانِبِ الدَّارِ وَقَوَاعِدِهَا وَأَوْتَادِهَا وَحِبَالِهَا. 38 أَمَّا مُوسَى وَهَرُونُ وَأَبْنَاؤُهُ فَيَنْزِلُونَ قُدَّامَ الْمَسْكَنِ إِلَى الشَّرْقِ لِيَقُومُوا بِحِرَاسَةِ الْمَقْدِسِ نِيَابَةً عَنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَأَيُّ وَاحِدٍ سِوَاهُمْ يَقْتَرِبُ مِنْهُ يُقْتَلُ. 39 فَكَانَ مَجْمُوعُ الْمُحْصَيْنَ مِنْ ذُكُورِ اللّاوِيِّينَ مِنِ ابْنِ شَهْرٍ فَمَا فَوْقُ، الَّذِينَ أَحْصَاهُمْ مُوسَى وَهَرُونُ حَسَبَ عَشَائِرِهِمْ كَمَا أَمَرَ الرَّبُّ، اثْنَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ أَلْفاً. 40 وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: «أَحْصِ كُلَّ بِكْرٍ ذَكَرٍ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنِ ابْنِ شَهْرٍ فَمَا فَوْقُ، وَدَوِّنْ أَسْمَاءَهُمْ جَمِيعاً، 41 فَتَفْرِزُ لِيَ اللّاوِيِّينَ، أَنَا الرَّبُّ، لِيَكُونُوا لِي بَدَلَ كُلِّ بِكْرٍ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَكَذَلِكَ بَهَائِمَ اللّاوِيِّينَ بَدَلَ كُلِّ بِكْرٍ فِي بَهَائِمِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ». 42 فَأَحْصَى مُوسَى أَبْكَارَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ كَمَا أَمَرَهُ الرَّبُّ، 43 فَكَانَ مَجْمُوعُ عَدَدِ الذُّكُورِ الأَبْكَارِ الْمُحْصَيْنَ، كُلٍّ بِاسْمِهِ، مِنِ ابْنِ شَهْرٍ فَمَا فَوْقُ، اثْنَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ أَلْفاً وَمِئَتَيْنِ وَثَلاثَةً وَسَبْعِينَ. 44 وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: 45 «أَفْرِزِ اللّاوِيِّينَ بَدَلَ كُلِّ بِكْرٍ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَكَذَلِكَ بَهَائِمَ اللّاوِيِّينَ بَدَلَ بَهَائِمِهِمْ، فَيَكُونَ اللّاوِيُّونَ خَاصَّتِي، أَنَا الرَّبَّ. 46 وَأَمَّا فِدَاءُ الْمِئَتَيْنِ وَالثَّلاثَةِ وَالسَّبْعِينَ مِنْ أَبْكَارِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الزَّائِدِينَ عَنْ عَدَدِ اللّاوِيِّينَ، 47 فَتَأْخُذُ عَنْ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ خَمْسَةَ شَوَاقِلَ (نَحْوَ سِتِّينَ جِرَاماً) مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ وَفْقاً لِلْوَزْنِ الْمُعْتَمَدِ فِي الْقُدْسِ فَيَكُونُ كُلُّ عِشْرِينَ جِيرَةً مُعَادِلَةً لِشَاقِلٍ (أَيْ لاثْنَيْ عَشَرَ جِرَاماً). 48 وَتُعْطِي الْفِضَّةَ لِهَرُونَ وَأَبْنَائِهِ فِدْيَةً عَنِ الأَبْكَارِ الزَّائِدِينَ عَنْ عَدَدِ اللّاوِيِّينَ» 49 فَجَمَعَ مُوسَى فِضَّةَ الْفِدْيَةِ مِنَ الزَّائِدِينَ عَنْ عَدَدِ اللّاوِيِّينَ فِدَاءً لَهُمْ. 50 جَبَاهَا مِنْ أَبْكَارِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، فَكَانَتْ أَلْفاً وَثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسَةً وَسِتِّينَ مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ عَلَى شَاقِلِ الْقُدْسِ (نَحْوَ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ كِيلُو جِرَاماً وَثُلْثٍ). 51 وَأَعْطَى مُوسَى فِضَّةَ الْفِدْيَةِ لِهَرُونَ وَأَبْنَائِهِ كَمَا أَمَرَ الرَّبُّ.

The Sons of Aaron

1 These are the generations of Aaron and Moses at the time when the Lord spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai. 2 These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. (2Mo 6,23) 3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, whom he ordained to serve as priests. (2Mo 28,41) 4 But Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord when they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests in the lifetime of Aaron their father. (3Mo 10,1; 4Mo 26,61; 1Chr 24,2)

Duties of the Levites

5 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 6 “Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him. 8 They shall guard all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, and keep guard over the people of Israel as they minister at the tabernacle. 9 And you shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they are wholly given to him from among the people of Israel. (4Mo 8,16; 4Mo 8,19; 4Mo 18,6) 10 And you shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall guard their priesthood. 11 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the people of Israel instead of every firstborn who opens the womb among the people of Israel. On the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I consecrated for my own all the firstborn in Israel, both of man and of beast. 14 And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying, 15 “List the sons of Levi, by fathers’ houses and by clans; every male from a month old and upward you shall list.” (4Mo 1,47; 4Mo 3,39; 4Mo 26,62) 16 So Moses listed them according to the word of the Lord, as he was commanded. 17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon and Kohath and Merari. Redemption of the Firstborn

40 And the Lord said to Moses, “List all the firstborn males of the people of Israel, from a month old and upward, taking the number of their names. 41 And you shall take the Levites for me—I am the Lord—instead of all the firstborn among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the cattle of the people of Israel.” (4Mo 3,12; 4Mo 3,45) 42 So Moses listed all the firstborn among the people of Israel, as the Lord commanded him. 43 And all the firstborn males, according to the number of names, from a month old and upward as listed were 22,273. 44 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 45 “Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle. The Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord. (4Mo 3,12; 4Mo 3,41) 46 And as the redemption price for the 273 of the firstborn of the people of Israel, over and above the number of the male Levites, (2Mo 13,13; 4Mo 18,15) 47 you shall take five shekels^[3] per head; you shall take them according to the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel of twenty gerahs^[4]), (2Mo 30,13; 3Mo 27,6; 4Mo 18,16) 48 and give the money to Aaron and his sons as the redemption price for those who are over.” 49 So Moses took the redemption money from those who were over and above those redeemed by the Levites. 50 From the firstborn of the people of Israel he took the money, 1,365 shekels, by the shekel of the sanctuary.
