1 „Preist Jahwe, denn er ist gut! / Ja, seine Güte hört niemals auf!“ 2 So sollen sagen die Erlösten Jahwes. / Er hat sie aus der Gewalt ihrer Bedränger befreit, 3 aus fremden Ländern wieder heimgebracht, / vom Osten und vom Westen her, / vom Norden und vom Meer. 4 Sie irrten umher in wegloser Wüste, / eine Stadt als Wohnort fanden sie nicht. 5 Von Hunger und Durst gequält, / schwand ihr Lebenswille dahin. 6 Sie schrien zu Jahwe in ihrer Not, / der rettete sie aus aller Bedrängnis. 7 Er brachte sie auf den richtigen Weg / und führte sie zu einer bewohnbaren Stadt. 8 Sie sollen Jahwe loben für seine Gnade, / für seine Wunder, die er an Menschen tut. 9 Denn er hat den Verdurstenden zu trinken gegeben, / den Hungernden gute Nahrung verschafft. 10 Die in Dunkelheit und Finsternis lebten, / gefesselt in Elend und Eisen, 11 sie hatten den Worten Gottes getrotzt / und den Rat des Höchsten verachtet. 12 Nun beugte er durch harte Schläge ihren Trotz, / sie lagen am Boden und niemand half. 13 Sie schrien zu Jahwe in ihrer Not, / der rettete sie aus ihrer Bedrängnis, 14 führte sie aus dem tiefen Dunkel heraus / und zerriss ihre Fesseln. 15 Sie sollen Jahwe loben für seine Gnade, / für seine Wunder, die er an Menschen tut. 16 Denn er zerbrach die ehernen Tore, / zerschlug die eisernen Riegel. 17 Die dumm und trotzig aufbegehrten, / brachten durch ihr Sündenleben nur Leid und Elend über sich. 18 Sie ekelten sich vor jeder Speise, / sie standen direkt vor dem Tod. 19 Sie schrien zu Jahwe in ihrer Not, / der rettete sie aus ihrer Bedrängnis. 20 Er schickte sein Wort und heilte sie / und bewahrte sie so vor dem Grab. 21 Sie sollen Jahwe loben für seine Gnade, / für seine Wunder, die er an Menschen tut. 22 Sie sollen Dankopfer bringen, / jubelnd erzählen von dem, was er tat. 23 Die das Meer mit Schiffen befahren, / um in Übersee Handel zu treiben, 24 sie sahen die Werke Jahwes, / seine Wunder auf hoher See; 25 wenn er sprach und einen Sturm bestellte, / der die Wellen in die Höhe warf, 26 sodass sie gen Himmel stiegen und wieder in die Tiefen sanken / und ihre Seele vor Angst verging. 27 Wie Betrunkene wankten und schwankten sie, / und waren mit ihrer Weisheit am Ende. 28 Sie schrien zu Jahwe in ihrer Not, / der rettete sie aus ihrer Bedrängnis 29 und brachte den Sturm zur Stille, / und die Wellen beruhigten sich. 30 Sie freuten sich, dass es still geworden war / und er sie in den ersehnten Hafen führte. 31 Sie sollen Jahwe loben für seine Gnade, / für seine Wunder, die er an Menschen tut. 32 In der Versammlung des Volkes sollen sie ihn rühmen, / ihn loben im Ältestenrat! 33 Er machte Ströme zur Wüste / und Wasserquellen zu dürrem Land. 34 Und wegen der Bosheit seiner Bewohner / machte er fruchtbares Land zur salzigen Steppe. 35 Andererseits machte er Wüste zum Wasserteich, / Wasserquellen sprudelten im trockenen Land. 36 Dort siedelte er die Hungernden an. / Sie gründeten einen Wohnort, 37 bestellten die Felder und legten Weinberge an. / Sie brachten reiche Ernten ein. 38 Er segnete sie und sie vermehrten sich sehr, / auch ihre Viehherden waren groß. 39 Dann wurden sie geringer an Zahl, / bedrückt durch Unglück und Kummer. 40 Er goss Verachtung über Vornehme aus, / ließ sie irren in wegloser Wüste. 41 Er holte die Armen aus dem Elend heraus, / ihre Familien vermehrten sich sehr. 42 Die Aufrechten sehen es und freuen sich, / und aller Bosheit wird das Maul gestopft. 43 Wer weise ist, wird sich das merken / und versteht das gnädige Handeln Jahwes.

Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So

1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (Ps 100,5; Ps 105,1) 2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble^[1] (Ps 106,10; Jes 62,12; Jes 63,4) 3 and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. 4 Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; (5Mo 32,10; Ps 107,36; Ps 107,40) 5 hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. 12 So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help. (Ps 22,11) 13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 36 And there he lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in; (Ps 107,4; Ps 107,7) 37 they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield. 38 By his blessing they multiply greatly, and he does not let their livestock diminish.
