1 SENHOR, Senhor nosso, como é majestoso o teu nome em toda a terra! Tu, cuja glória é cantada nos céus.[1] 2 Dos lábios das crianças e dos recém-nascidos firmaste o teu nome como fortaleza[2], por causa dos teus adversários, para silenciar o inimigo que busca vingança. 3 Quando contemplo os teus céus, obra dos teus dedos, a lua e as estrelas que ali firmaste, 4 pergunto: Que é o homem, para que com ele te importes? E o filho do homem, para que com ele te preocupes? 5 Tu o fizeste um pouco menor do que os seres celestiais[3] e o coroaste de glória e de honra. 6 Tu o fizeste dominar as obras das tuas mãos; sob os seus pés tudo puseste: 7 todos os rebanhos e manadas, e até os animais selvagens, 8 as aves do céu, os peixes do mar e tudo o que percorre as veredas dos mares. 9 SENHOR, Senhor nosso, como é majestoso o teu nome em toda a terra!

1 To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith.[1] A Psalm of David. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. (Ex 34:5; Sl 81:1; Sl 84:1; Sl 113:4; Sl 148:13; Is 12:4) 2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. (Sl 44:16; Jr 16:19; Mt 11:25; Mt 21:16; 1 Co 1:27) 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, (Gn 1:16; Ex 8:19; Ex 31:18; Sl 111:2) 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? (Gn 8:1; Gn 21:1; Gn 50:24; Jó 7:17; Jó 25:6; Sl 65:9; Sl 80:17; Sl 144:3; Hb 2:6) 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings[2] and crowned him with glory and honor. (Gn 1:26; Sl 21:5) 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, (Gn 1:26; Gn 1:28; Mt 28:18; 1 Co 15:27) 7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
