O Dia do Senhor
1The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.2It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, (Is 14:13; Is 25:6; Is 56:7; Mq 4:1)3and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law,[1] and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. (Zc 8:20; Lc 24:47; Jo 4:22)4He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. (Sl 72:3; Sl 72:7; Is 9:7; Os 2:18; Jl 3:10; Zc 9:10)5O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord. (Is 60:1; Ef 5:8)
The Day of the Lord
6For you have rejected your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of things from the east and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners. (2 Rs 1:2; 2 Rs 16:7; 2 Rs 16:10; Mq 5:12)7Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots. (Dt 17:16; Dt 17:17; Is 22:8; Is 22:11; Is 30:16; Is 39:2; Mq 5:10)8Their land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made. (Is 2:18; Is 2:20; Is 10:10; Is 44:9; Jr 2:28)9So man is humbled, and each one is brought low— do not forgive them! (Is 5:15)10Enter into the rock and hide in the dust from before the terror of the Lord, and from the splendor of his majesty. (Is 2:19; Is 2:21; 2 Ts 1:9; Ap 6:15)11The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled, and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. (Sl 18:27; Is 2:17; Mq 2:3; 2 Co 10:5)12For the Lord of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low; (Jó 40:11; Ml 4:1)13against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up; and against all the oaks of Bashan; (Jz 9:15; Is 14:8; Ez 27:6; Zc 11:2)14against all the lofty mountains, and against all the uplifted hills; (Is 30:25)15against every high tower, and against every fortified wall;16against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft. (1 Rs 10:22; Is 60:9)17And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low, and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. (Sl 18:27; Mq 2:3; 2 Co 10:5)18And the idols shall utterly pass away. (Is 2:8)19And people shall enter the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground,[2] from before the terror of the Lord, and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. (Sl 76:8; Is 2:10; Os 10:8; Hc 3:6; Lc 23:30; Ap 6:16)20In that day mankind will cast away their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats, (Lv 11:19; Dt 14:18; Is 30:22; Is 31:7)21to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the Lord, and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. (Is 2:19)22Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he? (Jó 27:3; Sl 146:3; Tg 4:14)
