Salmo 10

Salmo 10

English Standard Version

de Crossway
1 Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? (Sal 9:9; Sal 13:1; Sal 22:1; Sal 22:11; Sal 22:19; Sal 35:22; Sal 38:21)2 In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. (Sal 7:15)3 For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses[1] and renounces the Lord. (Job 1:5; Job 1:11; Sal 10:13; Sal 94:4; Is 3:9)4 In the pride of his face[2] the wicked does not seek him;[3] all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” (Sal 10:3; Sal 14:1; Sal 53:1)5 His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them. (Sal 12:5; Is 26:11)6 He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity.” (Sal 10:11; Sal 10:13; Ap 18:7)7 His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity. (Job 20:12; Sal 5:5; Sal 6:8; Sal 7:14; Sal 36:3; Sal 55:11; Sal 72:14; Sal 140:3; Cnt 4:11; Ro 3:14)8 He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless; (Sal 17:12; Sal 64:4; Hab 3:14)9 he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net. (Job 38:40; Sal 9:15; Sal 17:12; Sal 59:3; Miq 7:2)10 The helpless are crushed, sink down, and fall by his might.11 He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.” (Job 22:13; Sal 73:11; Sal 94:7; Ez 8:12; Ez 9:9; Sof 1:12)12 Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand; forget not the afflicted. (Sal 3:7; Sal 9:12; Sal 9:18; Miq 5:9)13 Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, “You will not call to account”? (Sal 9:12; Sal 10:3)14 But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless. (Sal 33:13; Sal 68:5; Sal 146:9; Os 14:3; 2 Ti 1:12; 1 P 4:19)15 Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none. (Sal 37:17; Sal 37:36; Is 41:12)16 The Lord is king forever and ever; the nations perish from his land. (Ex 15:18; Dt 8:20; Sal 29:10; Jer 10:10; Lm 5:19; Dn 4:34; Dn 6:26; 1 Ti 1:17; Ap 11:15)17 O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear (1 Cr 29:18)18 to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more. (Sal 9:9; Sal 9:19; Sal 17:14; Sal 74:21; Sal 82:3; Is 1:17; Is 11:4)
