Salmo 9

Selah

1 [1] To the choirmaster: according to Muth-labben.[2] A Psalm of David. I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. (Sal 26:7; Sal 40:5; Sal 96:3; Sal 105:5)2 I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. (Sal 5:11; Sal 7:17; Sal 83:18)3 When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before[3] your presence.4 For you have maintained my just cause; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment. (Sal 29:10; Sal 140:12)5 You have rebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish; you have blotted out their name forever and ever. (Dt 9:14; Dt 29:20; Sal 68:30; Pr 10:7)6 The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins; their cities you rooted out; the very memory of them has perished.7 But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice,8 and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness. (Sal 58:11; Sal 96:10; Sal 96:13; Sal 98:9)9 The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. (2 S 22:3; Sal 10:1; Sal 10:18; Sal 74:21; Pr 18:10)10 And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. (Sal 91:14)11 Sing praises to the Lord, who sits enthroned in Zion! Tell among the peoples his deeds! (Sal 76:2; Sal 77:12; Sal 107:22)12 For he who avenges blood is mindful of them; he does not forget the cry of the afflicted. (Gn 9:5; 1 R 21:17; Sal 9:18; Sal 10:12; Sal 10:13; Sal 12:5)13 Be gracious to me, O Lord! See my affliction from those who hate me, O you who lift me up from the gates of death, (Job 38:17; Sal 4:1)14 that I may recount all your praises, that in the gates of the daughter of Zion I may rejoice in your salvation. (1 S 2:1; 2 R 19:21; Sal 13:5; Sal 20:5; Sal 21:1; Sal 35:9; Is 37:22)15 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught. (Job 18:8; Sal 7:15)16 The Lord has made himself known; he has executed judgment; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. [4] (Ex 7:5; Ex 14:4)17 The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God. (Gn 3:19; Job 8:13; Sal 50:22; Is 51:13)18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever. (Pr 23:18; Pr 24:14)19 Arise, O Lord! Let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before you! (Sal 3:7; Sal 10:18)20 Put them in fear, O Lord! Let the nations know that they are but men! (Sal 9:19)
