1Iov a răspuns și a zis:2„Ce bine l‑ai ajutat tu pe cel fără putere! Ce bine ai sprijinit tu brațul fără tărie!3Ce sfaturi bune ai dat tu celui lipsit de înțelepciune! Ce multă înțelegere i‑ai arătat!4Cu[1] cine ai rostit aceste cuvinte și a cui suflare a ieșit din tine?5Umbrele tremură, de sub ape și de sub locuitorii lor.6Locuința Morților este goală înaintea lui Dumnezeu, iar Locul Nimicirii[2] nu este acoperit.7El întinde nordul asupra golului și atârnă pământul pe nimic.8El leagă apele în norii Săi, iar norii nu se rup de greutatea lor.9El acoperă fața tronului Său, întinzându‑Și norii peste el.10El a trasat o boltă peste fața apelor, până la marginea dintre lumină și întuneric.11Stâlpii cerurilor se clatină și se înspăimântă la mustrarea Sa.12Prin puterea Lui a liniștit marea și prin priceperea Lui l‑a zdrobit pe Rahab[3]. (Is 30:7)13Suflarea Lui înseninează cerurile, mâna Lui străpunge șarpele fugar[4]. (Iov 3:8; Is 27:1)14Iată, acestea sunt doar marginile căilor Sale și cât de slabă este șoapta pe care o auzim despre El. Dar cine poate înțelege tunetul puterii Sale?“
1Job replied,2‘Bildad, you haven’t helped people who aren’t strong! You haven’t saved people who are weak!3You haven’t offered advice to those who aren’t wise! In fact, you haven’t understood anything at all!4Who helped you say these things? Whose spirit was speaking through you?5‘The spirits of the dead are suffering greatly. So are those that are under the waters. And so are all those that live in them.6The place of the dead is naked in the sight of God. The grave lies open in front of him.7He spreads out the northern skies over empty space. He hangs the earth over nothing.8He wraps up water in his clouds. They are heavy, but they don’t burst.9He covers the face of the full moon. He spreads his clouds over it.10He marks out the place where the sky meets the sea. He marks out the boundary between light and darkness.11The pillars of the heavens shake. They are terrified when his anger blazes out.12With his power he stirred up the oceans. In his wisdom he cut the sea monster Rahab to pieces.13His breath made the skies bright and clear. His hand wounded the snake that glides through the sea.14Those are only on the edges of what he does. They are only the soft whispers that we hear from him. So who can understand how very powerful he is?’
