1Teritoriul seminției fiilor lui Iuda, potrivit clanurilor lor, se întindea spre hotarul Edomului în sud, spre marginea de sud a pustiei Țin. (Jud 1:11)2Hotarul lor de sud începea de la marginea Mării Sărate[1], de la golful din sud,3continua prin sudul Înălțimii Scorpionului[2], traversa pustia Țin și urca la sud de Kadeș-Barnea, după care traversa Hețronul și urca spre Adar, întorcându‑se pe la Karka.4Traversa apoi Ațmon, atingea Râul Egiptului[3] și ieșea la marginea mării. Acesta era hotarul lor de sud. (Ios 13:2)5Hotarul de răsărit era Marea Sărată până la gura de vărsare a Iordanului. Hotarul de nord începea de la gura de vărsare a Iordanului în Marea Sărată,6urca spre Bet‑Hogla, traversa pe la nord de Bet‑Araba, trecea pe la Piatra lui Bohan, fiul lui Ruben,7urca spre Debir prin valea Acor, se întorcea către nord înspre Ghilgal, în dreptul Înălțimii Adumim, care era la sud de ued[4], trecea apoi pe la apele En‑Șemeșului și ieșea la En‑Roghel. (Ios 12:1)8Urca prin valea Ben‑Hinom, la marginea de sud a Iebusului (Ierusalimul), urca spre vârful muntelui care era în partea de apus a văii Hinom, la marginea de nord a văii Refaim.9Apoi, din vârful muntelui, hotarul se întindea către izvorul apelor Neftoahului, atingea cetățile muntelui Efron și continua până la Baala (Chiriat-Iearim).10Din Baala se întorcea către apus înspre muntele Seir, trecea peste versantul nordic al muntelui Iearim (Chesalon), cobora pe la Bet‑Șemeș, trecea prin Timna11și peste versantul nordic al Ekronului, continua către Șikron, traversa muntele Baala, atingea Iabneelul și ajungea la mare.12Hotarul de apus era țărmul Mării cea Mare[5]. Acesta era hotarul fiilor lui Iuda, de jur împrejur, potrivit clanurilor lor.
Cetățile descendenților lui Iuda
13Lui Caleb, fiul lui Iefune, i s‑a dat un teritoriu care era în mijlocul fiilor lui Iuda, potrivit celor spuse de DOMNUL lui Iosua, și anume Chiriat-Arba (Hebron), – Arba fusese tatăl lui Anac.14Caleb i‑a alungat de acolo pe cei trei urmași ai lui Anac: pe Șeșai, pe Ahiman și pe Talmai, urmașii lui Anac.15De acolo s‑a suit împotriva locuitorilor Debirului (înainte Debirul purta numele de Chiriat-Sefer).16Caleb a zis: „Aceluia care va ataca și va cuceri Chiriat-Seferul îi voi da de soție pe fiica mea Acsa!“17Otniel, fiul lui Chenaz, fratele lui Caleb, a cucerit cetatea, iar Caleb i‑a dat‑o de soție pe fiica lui, Acsa.18Odată, venind la Otniel, Acsa l‑a îndemnat să‑i ceară tatălui ei un teren. Când ea s‑a dat jos de pe măgar, Caleb a întrebat‑o: – Ce dorești?19Ea i‑a răspuns: – Dă‑mi o binecuvântare, căci mi‑ai dat un teritoriu în Neghev[6]. Dăruiește‑mi și izvoare de ape! Și astfel, Caleb i‑a dat izvoarele de sus și izvoarele de jos. (Ios 10:40)20Iată care este moștenirea seminției fiilor lui Iuda, potrivit clanurilor lor:21cetățile care erau în Neghev, la marginea teritoriului seminției fiilor lui Iuda, înspre hotarul Edomului: Kabțeel, Eder, Iagur,22China, Dimona, Adada,23Kedeș, Hațor, Itnan,24Zif, Telem, Bealot,25Hațor-Hadata, Cheriot-Hețron (Hațor),26Amam, Șema, Molada,27Hațar-Gada, Heșmon, Bet‑Pelet,28Hațar-Șual, Beer-Șeba, Biziotia,29Baala, Iyim, Ețem,30Eltolad, Chesil, Horma,31Țiklag, Madmana, Sansana,32Lebaot, Șilhim, Ayin și Rimon – în total douăzeci și nouă de cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.33Cetățile care erau în zona deluroasă[7]: Eștaol, Țora, Așna, (Ios 9:1)34Zanoah, En‑Ganim, Tapuah, Enam,35Iarmut, Adulam, Soco, Azeka,36Șaarayim, Aditayim, Ghedera și Ghederotayim[8] – paisprezece cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.37Țenan, Hadașa, Migdal‑Gad,38Dilan, Mițpa, Iokteel,39Lachiș, Boțkat, Eglon,40Kabon, Lahmas, Chitliș,41Ghederot, Bet‑Dagon, Naama și Makkeda – șaisprezece cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.42Libna, Eter, Așan,43Iefta, Așna, Nețib,44Cheila, Aczib, Mareșa – nouă cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.45Ekron cu cetățile și satele dimprejurul lor,46de la Ekron înspre mare, toate așezările din apropierea Așdodului și satele dimprejurul lor,47Așdod cu cetățile și satele dimprejurul lor, Gaza cu cetățile și satele dimprejurul lor, până la Râul Egiptului și până la țărmul Mării cea Mare.48Cetățile care erau la munte[9]: Șamir, Iatir, Soco, (Ios 9:1)49Dana, Chiriat-Sana (Debir),50Anab, Eștemo[10], Anim, (Ios 21:14)51Goșen, Holon și Ghilo – unsprezece cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.52Arab, Duma, Eșan,53Ianim, Bet‑Tapuah, Afeka,54Humta, Chiriat-Arba (adică Hebronul) și Țior – nouă cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.55Maon, Carmel, Zif, Iuta,56Izreel, Iokdeam, Zanoah,57Kayin, Ghiva și Timna – zece cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.58Halhul, Bet‑Țur, Ghedor,59Maarat, Bet‑Anot și Eltekon – șase cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.60Chiriat-Baal (adică Chiriat-Iearim) și Raba – două cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.61Cetățile care erau în pustie: Bet‑Araba, Midin, Sehaha,62Nibșan, Ir‑Hammelah[11] și En‑Ghedi – șase cetăți cu satele dimprejurul lor.63Fiii lui Iuda nu i‑au putut alunga pe iebusiții care locuiau în Ierusalim și, prin urmare, iebusiții au locuit la Ierusalim împreună cu fiii lui Iuda, până în ziua aceasta.
1The allotment for the tribe of the people of Judah according to their clans reached southward to the boundary of Edom, to the wilderness of Zin at the farthest south. (Num 33:36; Num 34:3)2And their south boundary ran from the end of the Salt Sea, from the bay that faces southward. (Ios 15:1)3It goes out southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, passes along to Zin, and goes up south of Kadesh-barnea, along by Hezron, up to Addar, turns about to Karka, (Num 34:4; Jud 1:36)4passes along to Azmon, goes out by the Brook of Egypt, and comes to its end at the sea. This shall be your south boundary. (Num 34:5; Ios 13:3; Ios 15:47)5And the east boundary is the Salt Sea, to the mouth of the Jordan. And the boundary on the north side runs from the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan. (Ios 15:1)6And the boundary goes up to Beth-hoglah and passes along north of Beth-arabah. And the boundary goes up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben. (Ios 18:17; Ios 18:18; Ios 18:19; Ios 18:21; Ios 18:22)7And the boundary goes up to Debir from the Valley of Achor, and so northward, turning toward Gilgal, which is opposite the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the valley. And the boundary passes along to the waters of En-shemesh and ends at En-rogel. (Ios 7:26; Ios 18:16; Ios 18:17; 2 Sam 17:17; 1 Re 1:9)8Then the boundary goes up by the Valley of the Son of Hinnom at the southern shoulder of the Jebusite (that is, Jerusalem). And the boundary goes up to the top of the mountain that lies over against the Valley of Hinnom, on the west, at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim. (Ios 12:4; Ios 15:63; Ios 18:16; Ios 18:28; Jud 19:10; 2 Re 23:10; 1 Cro 11:4)9Then the boundary extends from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and from there to the cities of Mount Ephron. Then the boundary bends around to Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim). (Ios 15:60; Ios 18:15; 1 Cro 13:6)10And the boundary circles west of Baalah to Mount Seir, passes along to the northern shoulder of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), and goes down to Beth-shemesh and passes along by Timnah. (Gen 38:12; Jud 14:1; 1 Sam 6:9; 1 Sam 6:12)11The boundary goes out to the shoulder of the hill north of Ekron, then the boundary bends around to Shikkeron and passes along to Mount Baalah and goes out to Jabneel. Then the boundary comes to an end at the sea. (Ios 13:3; Ios 15:9)12And the west boundary was the Great Sea with its coastline. This is the boundary around the people of Judah according to their clans. (Num 34:6; Ios 15:47; Ios 23:4; Ez 47:20)13According to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, he gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh a portion among the people of Judah, Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron (Arba was the father of Anak). (Ios 14:13; Ios 15:54)14And Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the descendants of Anak. (Num 13:22; Jud 1:10; Jud 1:20)15And he went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir. Now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher. (Ios 15:49; Jud 1:11)16And Caleb said, “Whoever strikes Kiriath-sepher and captures it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife.”17And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it. And he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife. (Ios 14:6; Ios 14:13; Jud 1:13)18When she came to him, she urged him to ask her father for a field. And she got off her donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you want?”19She said to him, “Give me a blessing.
